Schedule 88 - 92
Dear Colleague,
I am delighted to present our complete portfolio of learning services, rebooted for 2017.
So why would anyone wish to attend a Crown Agents training programme?
That is a pertinent question if you’re considering taking one or two weeks out of your busy schedule to attend a course
overseas. Or if you are a budget holder, weighing up the financial benefit of investing in staff training, when there are
already many other pressing initiatives in your department, all competing for spend.
And should I say to you that training is only expensive if it doesn’t work, then you may well respond: “But how do you
know your training does work?”
Although the latest internet and e-learning technologies undoubtedly have a place, at Crown Agents we believe the
answer lies in the richness and depth of our programmes. Not just in terms of teaching classroom-based theory, but by
addressing your issues and challenges in a personalised and practical way. This approach underpins our theme for 2017:
Interact, Innovate, Improve!
Let me explain more:
INTERACT. In any one of our training programmes, you can expect to learn from and engage with Directors of
Study who are subject-matter experts, all current or recent practitioners. However, we believe that immeasurable benefit
is also derived from interacting and sharing critical insights with your professional counterparts. On a typical course,
you can expect to be joined by senior participants from an average of eight different nations at different stages of
development. You will hear from additional guest speakers of international renown, and leave the classroom to witness
first-hand how the topics covered are applied successfully in an ‘unforgiving world’ setting.
INNOVATE. The management of change has probably occupied the minds of 21st century organisational heads
more than any other concept of leadership, and change and innovation is at the heart of what we do. This year, one
focus has been on re-designing our leadership, HR and governance portfolios to ensure they present a clear and
progressive learning ‘journey’ for all management levels.
IMPROVE. None of the above would count for anything if it didn’t equip you with the tools and techniques to not
only innovate, but also deliver measurable and long-lasting performance improvements back home. No delegate will
leave a Crown Agents’ training programme without first being asked to present their “Organisational Action Plan” to
fellow delegates. This commits you to SMART actions to improve and strengthen your organisation, and also holds you
to account for your personal contribution.
And as an alumnus of Crown Agents, you will have a new found international network of peers to support you, plus a
designated training lead you can contact at any time in the coming months. With Crown Agents, the learning story does
not end in the car back to the airport.
We’d be honoured to welcome you to one of our scheduled training programmes in 2017 at locations worldwide, or to
work with you to create a tailored learning or consultancy solution.
With global reach, local presence and impact, we aim to be your training provider of choice.
Warmest regards,
Tim Runacre MA CPRS

Technology and innovation was at the heart of a programme
that was aimed at creating a Customs Administration that met the high

Under the supervision of Crown Agents customs experts, local customs
inspection staff used Body-Worn Video cameras in a number of

freight container terminals, customs clearance stations, traders’

The activity was governed by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

inspection images needed to be uploaded and stored securely using
the Reveal’s Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS).
