PROBLEM 1

Determine the development or embedment
length required for the epoxy-coated bars of the
cantilever beam.

a) If the bars are straight, assuming Ktr = 0
b) If the bars are straight, considering Ktr
c) If a 180◦ hook is used
d) If a 90◦ hook is used.
Use f’c = 28 MPa and fy = 414 MPa.
Provide a complete sketch.

PROBLEM 2

Determine the development lengths
needed for the dowels

a) down into the footing
b) up into the column
The concrete in both the column and the
footing is normal weight. Use fy = 414 MPa.
Use 16 mm dia. Rebar.
