GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
• For any situation not described in the above tables, please contact us;
• For wall tiling, this information is valid for individual pieces with a thickness of up to 1 cm. For thicker tiles, please
contact us;
• Application of non-porous natural stone such as schist, slate and similar, is not recommended;
• For use in cold stores, heated floors, or other cases where temperatures will diverge from the usual environmental
conditions, please contact us;
• This information is valid considering the existence of joints, between each tile/piece, of, at least, 2 mm wide, if indoors
and 6 mm if outdoors (or indoors exposed to sunlight);
• The double adhesion method should be used in the following situations:
• If the pieces have an individual area equal to or greater than 2400 cm , for interior walls or 900 cm , for
2
2
exterior walls (or interiors with high sun exposure);
• If the support surface is not render, screed, or concrete;
• Correct preparation and application by an experienced workforce is critical to ensuring the performance of the coating;
• We recommend that you run a sample on site so that you can analyse the products used;
• Our technical sheets are available for download only at www.cimpor.com.
The information included in this document relates to the date of its publication and may be changed
without prior notice. Our responsibility is limited to ensuring the quality of the products we provide, and

Application of Cement based Tile
Adhesives
1. Preparation of the surface
• CLEANING
Ensure that the surface is clean, free from dirt,
dust, debris or any other loose materials. Use a
brush, detergents and/or spatula to ensure proper
cleaning.
• FLATNESS
The surface must be suitably flat. Ensure that
the surface is flat using a 2 m ruler resting on the
surface and make sure that the distance between
the ruler and the wall is always less than 5 mm.
• POROSITY
The surface must be suitably absorbent. Check the
porosity of the surface by pouring water onto it. If
the water is absorbed too quickly, in less than 10
seconds, the surface is too absorbent. If the water
runs away, or is not absorbed after one minute, the
surface has low or no absorbency.
• HARDNESS
The surface must be hard. Check hardness by
scratching your surface with a punch or a nail in
several areas. If the scratch is superficial then the
surface is hard enough. If the surface is not hard
enough, then remove it until you reach a consistent
surface.
• ROUGHNESS
The surface must be rough. If necessary, use a
steel brush or hammer to obtain a rough surface.
• STABILITY
The surface must be stable. In order to ensure the
stability of the surface, the adhesive must only be
applied at least a month after the wall was built, for
brick walls, or 2 to 3 months, for block walls.
