AMALAN PENGAJARAN DAN PEMBELAJARAN AKTIVITI NATURE-WALK DALAM KALANGAN PENDIDIK DI TASKA NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION (NGO) Zarina Binti Mohd Salleh Jabatan Pengajian Awal Kanak-Kanak Universiti Selangor Email: [email protected] Nor Alia Alisya Binti Mohammad Jainuddin Jabatan Pengajian Awal Kanak-Kanak Universiti Selangor Email: [email protected] ABSTRAK Kebanyakan pengasuh masih menggunakan kaedah pengajaran tradisional iaitu belajar dengan hanya menggunakan buku dan pensil sewaktu proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran dijalankan. Hal ini demikian, memperkenalkan kepada pengajaran dan pembelajaran aktiviti Nature Walk. Kajian ini telah menetapkan tiga objektif iaitu mengenal pasti perspektif pendidik terhadap kepentingan penerapan aktiviti nature walk terhadap kanak-kanak, mengenal pasti perancangan pendidik ketika melaksanakan aktiviti Nature Walk, dan mengenal pasti cabaran aktiviti Nature Walk di taska Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Kaedah kajian yang digunakan oleh pengkaji adalah kuantitatif. Pengkaji mengumpulmaklumat dengan menyediakan satu set soalan kepada 100 sampel individu yang dipilih daripada populasi yang ingin dikaji. Pengkaji mengambil 100 orang daripada golongan pendidik taska NGO di sekitar Shah Alam sebagai responden. Pengkaji juga mengambil berattentang ciri-ciri pendidik taska NGO yang diambil sebagai responden untuk menjawab set soalan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Statistic Package Social Science (SPSS) versi 29. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan tahap kebolehpercayaan alpha cronbach soal selidik adalah tinggi iaitu 0.827. Hasil dapatan menunjukkan nilai amalan pengajaran dan pembelajaran aktiviti nature walk dalam kalangan pendidik taska berada pada tahap yang tinggi iaitu dengan nilai untuk perspektif guru (Min = 4.71, SP = 0.556), perancangan guru (Min = 4.53, SP = 0.867) dan cabaran (Min = 4.34, SP = 0.701). Keseluruhannya, perspektif guru taska menunjukkan hubungan yang positif terhadap perancangan amalan nature walk namun cabaran yang dihadapi menyukarkan guru untuk melaksanakan amalan tersebut. Oleh itu, implikasi kajian ini adalah untuk membantu guru bagi mengatasi cabaran supaya amalan pengajaran dan pembelajaran nature walk dapat dijalankan dengan lancar. 50. PENGGUNAAN ICT DALAM KALANGAN GURU BAGI PROSES PENGAJARAN DAN PEMBELAJARAN DAERAH KUALA LANGAT. Muhamad Haziq B Harun & Nurul Athirah Binti Mohd Yunus Jabatan Pengajian Awal Kanak-Kanak, Universiti Selangor [email protected] & [email protected] ABSTRAK Pengajaran dan pembelajaran berbentuk ICT kini telah semakin penting dalam era globalisasi dan dunia teknologi. Sasaran dalam kajian ini juga ditujukan kepada pendidik-pendidik Pendidikan Awal Kanak-Kanak (PAKK) dalam pengetahuan dan kemahiran mereka menggunakan ICT. Oleh itu, objektif bagi kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti tahap pengetahuan, tahap kemahiran dan kekerapan pendidik PAKK menggunakan ICT dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran mereka. Metodologi kajian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan instrumen melalui satu set borang soal selidik untuk mengumpul data. Set borang soal selidik ini terdiri daripada empat bahagian dan mengandungi 30 item dengan menggunakan pengukuran berskala Likert. Seramai 50 orang responden dari kalangan guru Pendidikan Awal Kanak-Kanak (PAKK) dari daerah Kuala Langat yang telah dicapai bagi melihat hasil kajian. Oleh itu, dapatan kajian bagi tahap pengetahuan pendidik dalam penggunaan ICT ini adalah sangat baik. Seterusnya, tahap kekerapan pendidik dalam menggunakan ICT ketika pengajaran adalah amat tinggi kerana hampir semua pendidik tahu tentang setiap fungsi alatan tersebut. Akhir sekali, tahap kemahiran pendidik pula amat menguasai dalam pelbagai jenis kemudahan. Secara keseluruhannya, dapatan kajian menunjukkan 80% pendidik PAKK ini berpengetahuan dan berkemahiran dalam dunia teknologi. Walau bagaimanapun, penggunaan ICT ini masih pada tahap sederhana dalam kalangan pendidik kerana terdapat beberapa kekangan dari segi aset yang tidak mencukupi atau tiada. Objektif bagi menjalankan kajian ialah mengenalpasti amalan pengajaran pendekatan bersepadu oleh guru PAKK, mengenalpasti jenis amalan pengajaran pendekatan dalam merangka aktiviti menggunakan pendekatan bersepadu serta untuk mengetahui keberkesanan pelaksanaan pendekatan bersepadu kepada kanak-kanak di tadika. Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk kajian secara kaedah kuantitatif untuk mendapatkan hasil dapatan kajian. Skop responden kajian akan diedarkan kepada guru PAKK tadika swasta yang berada di sekitar selangor untuk mendapatkan maklum balas berkaitan kajian yang dijalankan. Pengkaji menggunakan pengedaran borang soal selidik “google form” sebagai kaedah utama bagi mengumpul data kajian amalan pengajaran pendekatan bersepadu oleh guru PAKK tadika swasta. Seramai 80 responden dalam kalangan guru tadika swasta di sekitar Bukit Beruntung dan Kuala Selangor. Data yang diperoleh telah dianalisis dengan menggunakan Statistic Package Social Science (SPSS). Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa amalan pengajaran pendekatan bersepadu di tadika swasta telah memberikan kesan positif dalam pengajaran kanak-kanak. STRATEGI PENGAJARAN DAN PEMBELAJARAN ABAD KE-21 DALAM KALANGAN GURU TADIKA SWASTA Mashitah Binti Mustafa & Intan Nur Shaqira Binti Shamsul Kamal Jabatan Pengajian Awal Kanak-Kanak, Universiti Selangor [email protected] &[email protected] ABSTRAK Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan maklumat tentang strategi pengajaran dan pembelajaran abad ke-21 dalam kalangan guru tadika swasta. Kajian ini juga adalah untuk mengenalpasti strategi pengajaran dan pembelajaran abad ke-21 yang digunakan oleh guru tadika swasta, mengenalpasti penggunaan kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi (KBAT) semasa pengajaran dan pembelajaran dalam kalangan kanakkanak di tadika swasta serta mengenalpasti persekitaran pembelajaran kondusif bagi kanak-kanak di tadika swasta. Kajian ini dijalankan di beberapa buah tadika swasta sekitar Selangor dan menggunakan kaedah kuantitatif iaitu menggunakan borang soal selidik melalui google form ke atas 30 orang guru tadika swasta yang dipilih secara rawak. Pada kajian ini, data kuantitatif di analisis dengan menggunakan SPSS statistics 25 secara deskriptif melalui peratusan untuk mendapatkan dapatan kajian. Hasil daripada kajian mendapati strategi pengajaran dan pembelajaran abadn ke-21 dalam kalangan guru tadika swasta dilaksanakan dengan jayanya. Namun bergitu, penambahbaikan perlu dilakukan kerana terdapat segelintir guru yang masih tidak faham mengenai strategi pengajaran dan pembelajaran abad ke-21 ini. Implikasi kajian ini ialah dengan melakukan penambahbaikan dalam strategi guru untuk melaksanakan pengajaran dan pembelajaran perlu dilakukan. Melalui dapatan ini dapat membantu kepada peningkatan pelaksanaan pengajaran dan pembelajaran abad ke-21 agar semua guru tadika mempunyai pelbagai strategi dalam melaksanakannya bersesuaian dengan pengajaran masa kini. Fokus kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti tahap penguasaan kanak-kanak prasekolah swasta dalam menggunakan kemahiran motor halus dengan baik seawal usia 4 hingga 6 tahun. Selain itu, mengenal pasti keupayaan kanak-kanak menggunakan pelbagai deria ketika menjalankan kelas seni bagi membantu kanak-kanak dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kreativiti dan estetika secara langsung. Responden kajian adalah seramai 54 orang yang terdiri daripada kanakkanak prasekolah swasta berumur 4 hingga 6 tahun, ibu bapa, dan guru. Kajian ini berbentuk kualitatif, dengan menggunakan pengumpulan data melalui temubual, pemerhatian dan analisis dokumen. Dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa kemahiran seni visual dapat memberi pendedahan awal kepada para pendidik untuk membentuk kreativiti dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang lebih menarik demi mencapai matlamat pengajaran dan pembelajaran abad ke-21. Objektif kajian adalah untuk mengenal pasti jenis bahan digital dan bahan bukan digital yang digunakan dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran, mengenal pasti cara penggunaan bahan digital dan bahan bukan digital, mengenal pasti serta mengenal pasti kesan penggunaan bahan digital dan bahan bukan digital terhadap prestasi kanak-kanak di tadika swasta. Seramai 50 responden dalam kalangan guru tadika swasta dipilih di sekitar Seremban dan Kuala Lumpur. Kaedah kajian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan instrumen berbentuk soal selidik yang diberikan melalui google form. Borang soal selidik ini mengandungi tiga bahagian iaitu Bahagian A terdiri daripada demografi responden, Bahagian B mengandungi dua konstruk yang terdiri daripada cara penggunaan bahan digital dan bahan bukan digital dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran serta kesan penggunaan bahan digital dan bahan bukan digital terhadap prestasi kanak-kanak, manakala di Bahagian C, merupakan pendapat responden berkenaan bahan digital dan bahan bukan digital secara umum. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Statistic Package Social Science (SPSS) versi 29 bagi mendapatkan hasil kajian dalam bentuk min, sisihan piawai dan peratus. Dapatan kajian mendapati kedua-dua bahan digital dan bahan bukan digital mempengaruhi prestasi kanak-kanak dalam pembelajaran. PENGUASAAN AWAL MATEMATIK DALAM KALANGAN KANAK-KANAK PRASEKOLAH SWASTA DAERAH RAWANG Syarifah Nur Afini Binti Syed Afdzal & Nur Aiina Binti Sujud Jabatan Pengajian Awal Kanak-Kanak, Universiti Selangor [email protected] & [email protected] ABSTRAK Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penguasaan perkembangan awal matematik dalam kalangan kanak-kanak prasekolah swasta di daerah Rawang, Selangor. Pengkaji mengenal pasti tahap penguasaan kanak-kanak dan kaedah pengajaran guru sewaktu proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran awal matematik. Pengkaji menggunakan kaedah kuantitatif dengan mengedarkan borang soal selidik yang telah diadaptasi daripada Kurikulum Standard Prasekolah Kebangsaan 2017 kepada 50 orang responden yang merupakan guru-guru prasekolah swasta di daerah Rawang. Borang soal selidik yang disediakan mempunyai tiga bahagian iaitu demografi responden, tahap penguasaan awal matematik dan kaedah pengajaran yang digunakan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa tahap penguasaan awal matematik dalam kalangan kanak-kanak adalah lemah dalam beberapa subtopik seperti bentuk dan ruang, yang perlu kanak-kanak nyatakan kedudukan sesuatu objek dalam ruang dan menghasilkan corak berasaskan bentuk dua dimensi. Walau bagaimanapun, hasil kajian ini juga menunjukkan terdapat beberapa kaedah pengajaran yang berkesan. Antaranya adalah dengan menggunakan kaedah demonstrasi, kaedah belajar melalui bermain dan pendekatan nyanyian, muzik dan pergerakan dalam pembelajaran awal matematik. Secara keseluruhannya, tahap penguasaan awal matematik kanak-kanak dapat ditingkatkan melalui kaedah pengajaran yang diguna pakai oleh guru sewaktu proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran dijalankan. [email protected] & [email protected] ABSTRAK Pendekatan belajar melalui bermain merupakan kaedah yang baik digunakan bagi menarik perhatian kanak-kanak untuk belajar. Kajian yang dijalankan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang amalan pengajaran pendekatan belajar melalui bermain dalam kalangan pandidik di taska bagi memberi rujukan dan panduan kepada pendidik-pendidik serta bakal pendidik untuk masa hadapan. Bagi reka bentuk kajian ini, pengkaji telah memilih kaedah kuantitatif iaitu melalui borang soal selidik, yang mempunyai empat bahagian dan perlu dilengkapkan oleh 70 orang responden. Sasaran bagi kajian ini adalah kalangan pendidik taska. Justeru, dapatan kajian dianalisis dengan huraian deskriptif bagi melihat frekuensi dan peratusan bagi setiap bahagian dalam instrumen untuk mencapai keputusan terhadap objektif kajian. Dapat dilihat bahawa melalui pendekatan belajar melalui bermain, sebahagian besar pendidik taska telah mahir dengan pendekatan ini. PENGUASAAN PERKEMBANGAN KREATIVITI DAN ESTETIKA DALAM KALANGAN KANAK-KANAK PRASEKOLAH KAWASAN PULAU, SANDAKAN SABAH Nurjannah Binti Samsudin & Nurul Aisyahtul Akma Binti Awang Jabatan Pengajian Awal Kanak-Kanak, Universiti Selangor [email protected] & [email protected] ABSTRAK Kajian ini dijalankan bertujuan untuk melihat penguasaan perkembangan kreativiti dan estetika dalam kalangan pelajar prasekolah melalui aktiviti lukisan bebas. Objektif kajian adalah, 1) perkembangan kreativiti dan estetika murid dalam kalangan prasekolah melalui aktiviti lukisan bebas, 2) faktor persekitaran yang mempengaruhi perkembangan kreativiti dan estetika kanak-kanak di prasekolahm serta 3) memahami penglibatan ibubapa dalam menyokong perkembangan kreativiti dan estetika dalam kalangan murid prasekolah. Kajian ini dijalankan dalam bentuk kualitatif yang menggunakan teknik temu bual, pemerhatian serta analisis dokumen iaitu secara triangulasi. Dapatan dalam kajian ini menunjukkan tahap penguasaan perkembangan kreativiti dan estetika kanak-kanak majoriti berada pada tahap telah menguasai. Sementara itu, bagi aspek sokongan persekitaran dan penglibatan ibubapa pula, dijalankan secara temubual terhadap guru dan ibubapa menunjukkan bahawa kanak-kanak yang datang dari keluarga yang menyokong persekitaran mereka adalah lebih kreatif, berbanding kanak-kanak yang datang daripada keluarga yang kurang menyokong. Kesahan dapatan ini boleh dilihat melalui sesi temubual dan pemerhatian yang dijalankan. Sebagai lanjutan, pengkaji mencadangkan untuk menjalankan pemerhatian terhadap aktiviti lukisan bebas secara berterusan bagi mengukur penguasaan kreativiti seseorang kanak-kanak dari masa ke semasa, untuk mendapatkan satu tahap perkembangan yang berbeza, iaitu sebelum dan selepas. PENGUASAAN PERKEMBANGAN FIZIKAL DALAM KALANGAN KANAK-KANAK DI TADIKA AGENSI PUNCAK ALAM Lily Surianti Binti Suardi & Anna Syafiqa Binti Ahmad Shafiee Fakulti Pendidikan dan Sains Sosial, Universiti Selangor [email protected] & [email protected] ABSTRAK Penguasaan perkembangan fizikal merupakan salah satu elemen terpenting dalam proses perkembangan kanak-kanak. Tujuan kajian ini dijalankan adalah bagi mengenal pasti tahap penguasaan perkembangan fizikal dalam kalangan kanak-kanak tadika di agensi UiTM Puncak Alam, Selangor. Kedua, mengenal pasti strategi guru dalam meningkatkan perkembangan fizikal di kalangan kanak-kanak. Ketiga, mengenal pasti jenis aktiviti yang efektif dalam perkembangan fizikal kanak-kanak. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif yang berbentuk triangulasi. Instrumen kajian ini berbentuk temubual, senarai semak dan pemerhatian. Sampel responden adalah seramai lapan orang, terdiri daripada empat orang guru dan empat orang kanak-kanak. Dapatan kajian akan menganalisis sejauh manakah tahap penguasaan perkembangan fizikal kanak-kanak yang diperolehi melalui kaedah pemerhatian belajar sambil bermain. Hasil dapatan kajian akan dianalisis melalui data yang dikumpul, seperti senarai semak dan temu bual guru.. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa tahap penguasaan perkembangan fizikal kanak-kanak dipengaruhi oleh strategi dan jenis aktiviti yang dijalankan oleh guru, bagi membantu masalah kemahiran aktiviti fizikal. Justeru, bagi memastikan kanak-kanak menguasai perkembangan fizikal selari dengan usia dan keperluan dalam setiap perkembangan JERIS, guru perlulah bekerja sama dengan ibu bapa bagi menangani masalah penguasaan perkembangan fizikal kanak-kanak dengan mempelbagaikan strategi pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk menilai tahap pelaksanaan PAK21 di tadika serta mengenal pasti cabaran dan strategi yang dilaksanakan oleh guru-guru. Reka bentuk kajian adalah secara kuantitatif iaitu menganalisis data yang dikumpul melalui borang soal selidik menggunakan perisian SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). Analisis data menunjukkan kalangan guru tadika di Kuala Selangor dapat melaksanakan PAK21 dengan berkesan. Ini dikaitkan kepada peningkatan prestasi kanak-kanak dalam bidang akademik dan kemahiran sosial. Dapatan kajian ini memberi implikasi terhadap institusi untuk memastikan kaedah PdP adalah mengikut peredaran zaman, Kalangan guru-guru tadika dituntut untuk menguasai PAK21 bagi memastikan perkhidmatan terbaik dapat diberikan kepada masyarakat. AMALAN PENGAJARAN PENDEKATAN BERSEPADU DALAM KALANGAN GURU TABIKA KEMAS DI KUALA SELANGOR Nurhidayati Binti Kahar & Nur Aseyah Binti Mohammad Jabatan Pengajian Awal Kanak-Kanak, Universiti Selangor [email protected] & [email protected] ABSTRAK Penggunaan pendekatan bersepadu memerlukan guru mempunyai pemahaman yang baik untuk mengabungjalinkan antara dua atau tiga kemahiran yang perlu dikuasi murid dalam satu masa. Oleh itu, kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti amalan pengajaran pendekatan bersepadu dalam kalangan guru. Skop kajian mencakupi tahap pengetahuan dan kemahiran guru, kepelbagaian strategi pengajaran dan cabaran yang dihadapi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah borang soal selidik dan diedarkan secara dalam talian. Maklum balas diterima daripada 55 orang guru Tabika KEMAS di daerah Kuala Selangor, Selangor. Data bersifat kuantitatif dan dianalisis menggunakan aplikasi SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). Hasil dapatan kajian ini menunjukkan nilai tertinggi bagi strategi adalah (M=5.00, n=55) iaitu strategi pendidik dapat dipastikan dalam pendekatan bersepadu. Manakala bagi cabaran guru pula, nilai tertinggi adalah (M=4.90, n=55) iaitu guru tidak dapat mewujudkan suasana dinamik sewaktu PdP berlangsung. Seterusnya, nilai pelaksanaan yang tertinggi adalah (M=5.00, n=55) iaitu guru melaksanakan pendekatan bersepadu bagi meningkatkan nilai murni dalam diri murid untuk membentuk insan yang seimbang. Skop kajian mencakupi tahap pengetahuan dan kemahiran guru, kepelbagaian strategi pengajaran dan cabaran yang dihadapi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah borang soal selidik dan diedarkan secara dalam talian. Maklum balas diterima daripada 100 orang guru tadika di daerah Kuala Selangor, Selangor. Data bersifat kuantitatif dan dianalisis menggunakan aplikasi SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). Didapati, pengetahuan guru berkaitan amalan pengajaran berasaskan pelbagai kecerdasan dapat menarik dan meningkatkan tumpuan kanak-kanak semasa pembelajaran serta membolehkan guru untuk mengenal pasti tahap kecerdasan murid di dalam kelas. Selain itu, kajian ini dijalankan untuk menganalisis tahap pengetahuan guru dalam amalan pengajaran pendekatan bermain di tadika terhadap pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Seterusnya, kajian ini adalah untuk mengenalpasti cabaran yang dihadapi oleh guru dalam melakasanakan amalan pengajaran pendekatan bermain. Di samping itu, kajian ini juga untuk mengenalpasti startegi guru dalam memastikan amalan pengajaran pendekatan bermain dilaksanakan di tadika. Dalam kajian ini pengkaji menggunakan kaedah kuantitatif iaitu soal selidik untuk mendapatkan data daripada responden dan kemudiannya akan diproses menggunakan perisian Pakej Statistik untuk Sains Sosial (SPSS) versi 24. Satu set soal selidik telah diedarkan kepada 70 orang guru telah terlibat dalam kajian ini. Analisis data dinyatakan bentuk peratusan, kekerapan dan min Persampelan digunakan untuk mengumpul data dalam kalangan guru tadika di kawasan Kuala Selangor. Hasil daripada kajian ini mendapati bahawa majoriti guru tadika di kawasan Kuala Selangor bersetuju dalam penggunaan pendekatan bermain dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran kanak-kanak. Dengan kajian ini, pengkaji dapat menambah pengetahuan yang berkaitan dengan amalan pengajaran pendekatan bermain. IMPLEMENTATION OF ZONE PROXIMAL DEVELOPMENT (ZPD) IN LANGUAGE LEARNING CLASSROOM AMONG PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS Nur Hannah Binti Hanafi | Thanusha Volaganathan Universiti Selangor [email protected] | [email protected] ABSTRACT During instructional sessions, students often encounter situations where they are expected to meet specific academic standards established by their teachers but need more adequate guidance from the teacher or a reliable peer. While this may appear inconsequential, it can have a detrimental impact on a student's learning trajectory. This study aims to discover the pre-service teachers' approaches to applying the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) in English as a Second Language (ESL) classrooms. The research design used was a qualitative study, and purposive convenience sampling was implemented to collect the data among pre-service teachers. A list of interview questions was constructed, and the interview was carried out through an online platform, Whatsapp, which involved six (6) pre-service teachers from the Universiti Selangor. The findings reveal that the ZPD theory holds the utmost importance in language learning, as evidenced by the pre-service teachers who have implemented the theory. These teachers also shared several approaches they employed in their lessons, further contributing to the relevance and efficacy of the ZPD theory in the contemporary educational landscape. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (ECE) UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES AND MOTIVATION TOWARDS SPEAKING ENGLISH AS DAILY COMMUNICATION Faridah Syahira Mohd Din | Intan Umaizah Othman Universiti Selangor [email protected] | [email protected] ABSTRACT Early childhood education (ECE) is essential to a child’s development to succeed academically and socially. The English language has emerged as a must-have ability in today’s globalised for people to excel in various areas, including education, social contact and job. As a result, ECE undergraduate students must have English language proficiency to communicate effectively in everyday situations. This study investigates the attitudes and motivation of Early Childhood Education (ECE) students towards speaking English as a form of daily communication. Mixed methods were used to collect data among ECE undergraduate students in diploma and degree at Universiti Selangor. The study adopted a set of questionnaires followed by an interview with the questions selected from the respondents’ survey. The questionnaires were distributed to 40 participants, and four (4) were chosen from the previous participants for interviews with the data analysed in SPSS. Results suggested that their attitudes and motivation can affect them to speak English for daily communication. Findings show that they feel motivated to speak English but find it challenging since they do not have adequate vocabulary to speak English as a daily communication. Future research should identify new teaching strategies and interventions to promote a positive attitude towards speaking English as everyday communication. CHALLENGES IN USING SELF-CONSTRUCTED COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK (CEFR) MATERIALS AMONG THE ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) TEACHERS Nur Iffatul Nabihah Binti Nordin | Nurin Asyiqin Binti Mohd Khidzir Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) [email protected] | [email protected] ABSTRACT This research study explores the challenges faced by English language teachers in utilizing self-constructed Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)-aligned teaching materials to assess students' English proficiency. It also investigates the differences in challenges between using the Full Blast Plus 4 English textbook and self-constructed materials aligned with the CEFR. A qualitative approach was employed, involving two (2) English language teachers from a sub-rural school in Selangor. The findings indicate that the participants encountered challenges primarily associated with using the Full Blast Plus 4 English textbook, such as time-consuming lesson planning, limited familiar content, and difficulties adapting the textbook to their teaching context. In contrast, self-constructed CEFR-aligned materials presented fewer challenges to English language teachers due to their flexibility, creativity, and ability to engage students. The recommendations for future research include increasing the number of participants to ensure greater validity of the findings and observing the challenges faced in designing and constructing materials before their implementation in lessons. As AI advances and finds applications in various fields, including education, it is crucial to understand students' attitudes and beliefs towards its implementation. This study investigates their awareness, concerns, and overall perception of AI's role in enhancing academic performance by conducting surveys and interviews with diverse tertiary education students. The sample of the research was carried out using a quantitative approach. The research used a cross-sectional survey of 100 students from different faculties and universities in Malaysia. The study results show that most tertiary-level students are familiar with AI tools, and many use AI to improve their academic performance. The results also indicate that most students have severe concerns about utilising AI, which might affect their performance in education. Through this research, it can be concluded that many tertiary students use AI tools to improve their academic performance. The primary aim of this study is to ascertain the level of Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) among pre-service teachers in the Unisel Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) programme. Additionally, the research seeks to explore the potential impact of TPACK on the efficacy of teaching practises. A quantitative research methodology was employed in this study, utilising a survey instrument consisting of 26 questions. The survey was distributed to a sample of 129 preservice teachers. The research findings suggest that the feedback provided by the participants was predominantly positive. It was observed that preservice teachers at UNISEL possess a strong understanding of the integration of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), and this knowledge significantly contributes to their ability to conduct teaching activities effectively. FIRST LANGUAGE INTERFERENCE ON PRONUNCIATION ERRORS OF /Θ/ AND /Ð/ FRICATIVES AMONG INDIAN STUDENTS IN SELANGOR Muhammad Irfan Asyraf bin Muhammad Jilli Asyraf | Neesha Ng Sundram Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) [email protected] | [email protected] ABSTRACT English has been named the second language in Malaysia as it is mandated to learn within the school syllabus. However, students often need help with the pronunciation of words in the English language. Indian students are an example of said phenomenon. This is due to the interference of the mother tongue (L1), which usually results in certain sounds being replaced or omitted entirely. Hence, this study aims to investigate and identify how L1 interference affects the pronunciation of voiceless and voiced interdental fricatives (/θ/ and /ð/) in English made by Indian Selangor University students. Purposive sampling was used to collect data from five (5) Indian participants from University A (public) and University B (private) in Selangor. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants to collect the data required for this study. The results show no significant differences between the /θ/ and /ð/ pronunciation of the participants factoring from the public and private university types. Some participants showed good pronunciation and fluency in English, and others led a noticeable influence of the Tamil language in their articulation of the /θ/ and /ð/ fricatives due to various background reasons. The hypothesis is correct, and stakeholders can identify pronunciation errors and successfully address them in teaching and learning English speaking skills. CHALLENGES FACED BY TRAINEE TEACHERS IN UTILISING AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IN CLASSROOM SETTINGS Siti Syafikha Binti Harun | Nashwa Adiva Binti Nasarudin Universiti Selangor [email protected] | [email protected] ABSTRACT Authentic Materials can be suitable learning materials that can help teachers properly deliver lessons in the context of language learning. This study points to three components: 1) the trainee teachers’ perceptions about using Authentic Materials in classroom settings, 2) challenges, and 3) the relativeness of different school environments, urban and rural. This study aims to explore the experiences of trainee teachers in utilising authentic teaching materials in the classroom. This qualitative research used an interview method. Random sampling was used to collect the data among pre-service teachers from UNISEL. In this research, 16 participants from ten (10) different schools were interviewed through semi-structured interviews to gain information about the participants’ perceptions and concerns about the use of Authentic Material based on their school environment. Thematic analysis is used for the research to identify patterns and the same answers from the participants. The results are divided into perceptions, challenges and relativeness between urban and rural. Each participant has different perceptions towards the use of Authentic Material. Results show that the significant challenges are material adaptation and lesson planning acquired from participants’ experiences in different school settings. Future research should identify the need to adapt different materials to different school settings to make the students interested in learning English. UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' PERCEPTIONS OF GADGET USE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING Siti Intan Binti Mazilan | Nur Aqilah Binti Rosli Universiti Selangor [email protected] | [email protected] ABSTRACT In 2022, the Malaysian government started giving free gadgets (PERANTISISWA) to the B40 students pursuing public (IPTA) and private (IPTS) university studies. Such initiatives indirectly encourage students to use devices in their learning process. However, from the said initiatives, it needed to be clarified how they would help students in their learning process. This study aims to identify how gadgets help students learn the English language and the effect of using devices in learning English. This study uses a quantitative method, and the questionnaire is distributed using snowball sampling. Participants in the survey are Universiti Selangor students who use gadgets in their English language learning. The survey results show that most students using devices in their learning process agree that using gadgets in their studies is helpful. Some of them agree that gadgets have a positive impact on their studies. Not only can gadgets be used to complete their assessments, but it also helps their learning hours be more flexible since they are easy to carry by hand. Pre-service teachers embarking on their initial practical experiences in schools encounter evolving trends, changing environments, and various societal challenges that shape their professional identity. Thus, this study aims to explore the elements that influence the identity construction of pre-service teachers during their practicum. Specifically, we explore the significant relationship between identity construction and the development of pre-service teachers, considering factors such as personal traits, extrinsic influences (including financial aspects and cultural background), and experiential characteristics. This qualitative study interviewed fourteen (14) pre-service teachers selected through purposive snowball sampling, and the data were thematically analysed. The findings of this study indicate that while many pre-service teachers perceive themselves as passionate individuals, they still have substantial room for growth in terms of professionalism. The intricate process of identity formation in these individuals is influenced by the educational environment in which they are placed, including their interactions with students, fellow teachers, mentors, and their responsibilities within their families. Additionally, their self-perception and aspirations are crucial in shaping their professional identity. These factors collectively contribute to the construction of identities among pre-service teachers. Future research should explore alternative approaches to meet the specific needs of pre-service teachers in their pursuit of professionalism, as such initiatives may foster the construction of a solid professional identity among future educators. Micro-teaching is a teaching practice where pre-service teachers deliver short lessons in a controlled classroom setting, and microteaching is a required subject that students must take before they can start practical teaching. This demonstrates the importance of microteaching in preparing future teachers for their roles in schools. This study aims to identify the effects of micro-teaching on pre-service ESL teachers' cognitive readiness, behavioural readiness, mental readiness, and self-efficacy readiness. The study utilises a mixed-method research design, incorporating qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data will be collected through interviews and scale questions administered to 100 TESL students who have undergone or are currently taking micro-teaching courses at UNISEL. The findings provide valuable insights into the factors that influence pre-service ESL teachers' readiness and performance, thereby informing the development of effective teacher education programs and enhancing the quality of ESL instruction in real classrooms. This study explores the factors of procrastination behaviours among Malaysian tertiary-level students. The research questions addressed three main areas: the role of assessment preference, whether individual or group-based and the impact of social factors on manipulating procrastination tendencies and the role of technology addiction and social media distractions as reasons for procrastination behaviours. As a result, group tasks were associated with lower levels of procrastination, while individual assignments increased procrastination tendencies. The research identified the study environment as a significant factor influencing procrastination tendencies. Students are more likely to procrastinate when surrounded by peers who exhibit procrastination behaviours. Conversely, positive social support was found to have a mitigating effect on procrastination. The results highlighted that social media distractions substantially diverted students' attention and disrupted effective time management, contributing to procrastination. In conclusion, this study emphasises the influence of external factors on students' procrastination tendencies and underscores the need for targeted interventions to address this issue. By understanding the relationships between the factors mentioned with procrastination behaviours, educational institutions can implement effective strategies to minimise procrastination and create a more productive learning environment for tertiary-level students. Board games promote active learning and memory retention, enhancing self-determination and competitive attitude. Therefore, the importance of educators' perceptions towards board games in English classroom learning greatly matters to the secondary school students’ perspectives. Aside from that, many educators are still unaware of how board games could affect students, as little research has been done. Therefore, this paper aims to identify the pre-service teacher’s perceptions towards using board games and influence the attitudes of secondary school students in English classroom learning. The data collected will be within a private university, with a total amount of 50 pre-service teachers. Using the quantitative method, this study is a survey through Google Forms. The questionnaires consist of two different sections. The function of demographic is to distinguish characteristics of a population, such as age, gender, and education of the respondents. Five-point Likert scale questions can measure how much the respondents agree or disagree with the statement. The finding of this study is to examine the importance of incorporating board games into English classroom learning effects on students’ attitude change towards learning. This study aims to assess the readiness of pre-service teachers to use supplementary materials and to identify their need for such materials during classroom instruction. The research approach employed in this study is quantitative. A set of survey questionnaires was distributed to fifty (50) TESL pre-service male and female respondents. The findings indicate a positive outcome regarding the readiness of pre-service teachers to use supplementary materials during their classroom teaching. Consequently, the study concludes that pre-service teachers can effectively utilise supplemental materials in their instructional practices, enhancing student engagement in lessons and activities. The project scope includes exploring obstacles and existing approaches to overcoming communication struggles. The fundamental claim is that improved communication accommodations can promote positive academic outcomes and increase satisfaction for both parties. This qualitative research design used convenience sampling to collect data from Unisel supervisees consulting their supervisors on their term papers. To gather the information needed for this study, semi-structured interview questions were constructed, and interviews were conducted with ten (10) chosen participants currently doing their final year project. The findings show that the most frequent accommodation approach used by both supervisors and supervisees are convergence approaches, these approaches are proven to be beneficial in attaining desired communication outcomes where both parties modify their accent and communication styles, selecting the appropriate choice of words in the language used to make their language easier for comprehension accompanied by non-verbal indicators to accommodate. By recognising and understanding the significance of communication accommodation approaches, supervisors and supervisees can identify their obstacles and apply suitable approaches to achieve effective communication. Snowball sampling was used to collect data from students studying at UNISEL, and fifteen (15) participants were interviewed using a set of structured interview questions. Thematic analysis was applied to analyse the data and extract key themes and patterns. The study's findings revealed various difficulties encountered by UNISEL students while reading academic articles and the critical reading strategies they employed to enhance their reading skills for educational purposes. These findings highlighted the importance of reading as a foundational skill in higher education, where students are expected to comprehend complex texts across diverse disciplines. Critical reading strategies enable students to navigate academic articles effectively, extract essential information, and develop their insights and interpretations, enhancing their academic success. STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION TOWARDS THE USE OF THE DIRECT METHOD IN THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SCIENCES (FESS) Muhammad Danish Eizlan Bin Tarmizi | Muhammad Aliff Bin Roslan Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) [email protected] | [email protected] ABSTRACT Implementing the direct method, an instructional approach emphasising the exclusive use of the target language in the classroom has garnered limited attention in tertiary level education. This research study explores students' viewpoints regarding applying the direct method by lecturers in higher education. Several cited sources claim that the Grammar Translation Method is the preferred technique for language classes. Employing a qualitative research design, the study utilised semi-structured interviews with a purposive sample of 20 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences at the University of Selangor (UNISEL). These participants were enrolled in courses taught by lecturers who employed the direct method as their primary teaching approach in English Language classes. Thematic analysis was conducted on the audio-recorded and transcribed interviews. Preliminary findings reveal a range of perceptions among students concerning using the direct method. Some students expressed positive sentiments, highlighting its ability to improve oral communication skills, encourage active engagement, and foster language immersion. However, certain students voiced reservations about the direct method, citing challenges in comprehending complex concepts without native language support, difficulties understanding specialised terminology, and limited opportunities for in-depth discussions and critical thinking. Moreover, students' attitudes toward the direct method were influenced by their previous language learning experiences and lecturers' proficiency in effectively implementing it. These preliminary findings contribute to understanding students' perspectives on the direct method in tertiary-level education. The study provides valuable insights for lecturers and curriculum designers to better address students' learning needs and preferences. The implications of these findings can inform instructional practices, pedagogical strategies, and curriculum development, thereby promoting effective language teaching and learning in higher education. SPEAKING ANXIETY AMONG MALAYSIAN STUDENTS IN THE LANGUAGE CLASSROOM Aina Qistina binti Bahaman | Ainur Sofea binti Mohd Helmi Universiti Selangor [email protected] | [email protected] ABSTRACT Learning a foreign language is a challenging endeavour, and it can be intimidating to many students. One should unreservedly obligate the new language and culture, which can spark student anxiety. This research investigates the factors influencing speaking anxiety among Malaysian students in the classroom against learning the English language. This study generally focuses on communication apprehension, test anxiety and negative evaluation. The study adopted and implemented a modified version of the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) to evaluate students’ anxiety levels. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and Microsoft Excel were fully utilised to analyse the data. 120 respondents from various public universities in Malaysia participated in responses to the survey. The survey discovered that the three aforementioned factors are the root of causing students to be anxious about learning English in the classroom. The findings from this quantitative research portrayed students’ anxiety scale through means score correspondingly with the test of anxiety impending to be the highest total mean followed by communication apprehension and fear of negativity evaluation. The result also indicates that gender does not influence the Foreign Language Anxiety (FLA) level. This study highlights educators’ involvement is important in minimising students’ anxiety so that it has no impact on their studies. B40 TERTIARY STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION IN LEARNING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE Marsha Binti Zainal Hisham | Jeyshiella Benchman Amos Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) [email protected] | [email protected] ABSTRACT Learning English as a second language (ESL) successfully requires many factors, but the motivation of students to continue learning is crucial for their second language development. There are two types of motivation: integrative, which consists of the student’s determination from an interest in the language or passion to communicate, and instrumental, which requires external rewards or goals such as career obligations or competition objectives. This study investigates the instrumental and integrative motivation of tertiary students with low income and socioeconomic status. This study employed a qualitative study design, and the instrument used was an interview with structured questions. Data was collected from thirteen (13) participants who studied at the University of Selangor. The sampling used was purposive snowball sampling, where we inquired people about their socio-economic status through income and had them share with us others with similar statuses. Through thematic analysis of the interview transcriptions, we could tabulate the results, which overall showed the primary type of motivation the participants possessed, which was integrative. Their low socio-economic status had less influence while they were learning ESL. It is vital to be aware of the type of motivation that students possess because it helps students to persevere and strive to learn ESL, and knowing whether their low socioeconomic influences motivation will also encourage many others with the same upbringing to continue to progress in the English language. Users of most social networking services can communicate with others in their networks about their interests, activities, and events. Webbased social media platforms offer ways for users to share online, such as TikTok was chosen to analyse how frequently students use it to enhance their basic English vocabulary. This study aims to investigate the influence and effectiveness of TikTok in learning vocabulary among ESL students. This study employed a quantitative design consisting of three sections: the research design, research instrument and data collection procedures. The present study invited fifty (50) ESL students aged 18 to 30 to enrol in Malaysian universities through probability sampling. A multiple-choice survey was conducted to determine the validity and reliability of the study's instrument. The outcome of the instrument's validity and reliability was rated as high. The data was analysed using Likert scale-based questions. A pre-and post-test was conducted because of the data's high validity and reliability. Social media and new technologies must be incorporated into an alternative learning platform. Bilingual individuals exhibit distinct cognitive processes and perceive the world differently from monolingual individuals who only use their native language. Bilingual speakers and listeners often exploit the similarities between the languages they know by intertwining their languages in a highly integrated manner. This study investigated the perceptions of language choice among bilingual students at UNISEL. Data was collected through quantitative research, utilising a questionnaire comprising three sections: personal background, student perceptions of bilingualism, and preferred language. The variables were measured, and the data were subjected to descriptive analysis. The findings indicate that the bilingual UNISEL students responded positively to using their first language and preferred it as their language of choice. It is important to note that the results of this study may differ in other settings, suggesting the need for future research in diverse contexts. Differentiated instruction is an approach that recognises and accommodates students' diverse learning needs, preferences, and abilities. This research employs a qualitative research design. The researchers used interviews with samples of ESL teachers from three (3) secondary schools to collect data on differentiated instruction used within the classroom. This study aims to identify teachers' perceptions of using DI and determine the relationship between teachers' perceptions and implementing DI in the classroom. The findings reveal that ESL teachers positively perceive differentiated instruction and recognise its effectiveness in enhancing student engagement. The study concludes with a recommendation for further research to deepen our understanding of differentiated instruction in Malaysia's ESL education context. In summary, teachers can implement differentiated instruction based on their perceptions and specific classroom circumstances. The outcomes of this study provide valuable insights into the challenges and benefits associated with differentiated instruction and contribute to the growing body of knowledge on effective instructional practices in ESL education. Young men and women can be significantly affected by how one specific gender is shown in the media, either by the roles played or the images projected. This paper illustrates how women are portrayed in the media, especially in television dramas. The ways that women are portrayed in television programmes change along with how gender roles in society develop. Based on a mixed-method study of three well-known Malaysian television plays, this survey found that conventional generalisations about women's images still exist, albeit to a reduced extent. This study examined the attitudes and views of the respondents and how Malaysian teenagers evaluated the lead female roles in Malay dramas. The days of relying exclusively on established direct communication are long gone. Moreover, online messaging encourages participation and enthusiasm among students. Adopting online messaging systems in tertiary English language learning classrooms is increasingly prevalent. These platforms enable actual dialogue, collaborative language learning, and increased language exposure. This study explores higher education institutional students’ perception of online messaging platforms as tools to improve their language proficiency, communication skills, and level of engagement. The data for this quantitative study was gathered using an adopted 5-point Likert scale questionnaire comprised of six sections - the demographic section, the online messaging platform, the barriers to using online messaging platforms, the benefits of using online messaging platforms, the online messaging platform’s teaching, and learning activities, and the online messaging platform’s preferences. 154 responses were gathered, and the results were presented as percentages. The main findings of this study revealed that the online messaging platform helped students improve in the English language classroom. The significance of the study showed a positive impact of technology on language learning outcomes, improving English proficiency and communication skills while promoting collaborative learning environments. The emotions shown could either be positive or negative or affect the students’ performance positively or negatively. This research explores how students’ performance can be affected by classroom teachers' emotions and how they relate to each other. The scope of this research will include how the students would behave, feel, and express their emotions based on the positive or negative emotions shown by the teachers in the classroom. Besides, the students’ level of motivation based on the emotions displayed by the teachers will also be discussed. Qualitative research was conducted, and 20 students from a secondary school in Kuala Selangor were interviewed during this research. The interview results were positive emotions shown by the teachers have a positive impact towards the student’s performance, and negative emotions shown have a negative impact on the student’s performance. Thus, the study found a strong relationship between the classroom teachers' emotions and the students’ performance. These results highlight the importance of a teacher's positive emotion in the classroom to increase students' performance. By regularly watching and interacting with English content on YouTube, university students can improve their listening comprehension, speaking ability, and overall fluency in the language. This research uses the YouTube application to enhance students’ speaking skills in English Language Learning. The main problem that can be viewed from this research would be university students’ perception of using YouTube applications to enhance speaking skills. In this research, a quantitative research design is used where the respondents are students from Unisel who are undergraduates. To gauge the variables, there were three parts to the questionnaire that was used from Google form, where it was parted into three sections which were about the respondent details, students' familiarity with the YouTube application and their perception of using YouTube to enhance speaking skills. The data was then analysed towards descriptive analysis. The outcome shows that most students believe YouTube do strengthen their speaking skills. It is essential to understand the perception of the effectiveness of the strategy being implemented on the students because perception can influence the students’ willingness to participate in the collaborative setting. This study aimed to investigate University of Selangor (UNISEL) students’ perception of the effectiveness of collaborative learning strategy in three dimensions; critical thinking, academic motivation and leadership and teamwork skill. The sample research was carried out using a quantitative approach consisting of 140 Students of the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences (FESS). This study's result shows that most students agree that Collaborative Learning improves their communication skills when working together in groups. The result also indicates that most of the students in the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences (FESS) agree that collaborative learning helped them understand the course materials better, which will help them increase their academic performance. Through this research, it can be concluded that most of the students in the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences (FESS) have a positive perception toward Collaborative Learning since it will affect their critical thinking, academic motivation, leadership, and teamwork skills. Namun, realiti masa kini memperlihatkan bahawa golongan remaja dan belia, yang merupakan aset terpenting bagi sebuah negara seakan-akan memisahkan diri dari masjid. Masjid pada masa kini hanya dilihat sebagai tempat untuk orang dewasa, warga tua dan pesara. Pemahaman seperti ini dalam masyarakat perlu diubah. Oleh kerana peranan masjid hari ini nampaknya disempitkan oleh kurangnya penglibatan golongan muda, anjakan paradigma yang berkesan perlu dilaksanakan. Kajian ini dilakukan adalah untuk mengenalpasti tahap kefahaman, faktor-faktor tidak hadir solat berjemaah dan juga mengambil langkah-langkah untuk menarik anak muda supaya datang solat berjemaah di Masjid Mukim Tiong. Ini berikutan betapa lemahnya jumlah bilangan jemaah di kalangan anak muda dari hasil penelitian saya sendiri. Kajian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan metode kuantitatif melalui kajian tinjauan. Borang soal selidik telah digunakan sebagai instrumen kajian dan diedarkan secara rawak menerusi google form kepada 100 orang responden lelaki yang berumur 15 tahun sehingga 30 tahun. Borang soal selidik yang diedarkan mengandungi tiga bahagian iaitu demografi responden, tahap kefahaman, dan faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan anak muda tidak mengamalkan solat berjemaah di masjid. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa tahap kefahaman responden dalam kalangan anak muda di tahap yang tinggi. Namun jumlah anak muda yang solat berjemaah yang tidak memuaskan disebabkan oleh faktor kesibukan yang menyumbang peratusan di tahap tertinggi. Dengan mengetahui faktor-faktor anak muda tidak hadir ke masjid diharapkan kajian ini dapat membantu pihak berkaitan untuk menyusun strategi yang terbaik agar dapat menarik anak muda datang solat berjemaah di masjid. Rentetan itu, artikel ini akan mengkaji tentang punca-punca dan impak penceraian dalam kalangan belia yang pernah mendirikan rumah tangga. artikel ini juga menerangkan peranan pihak berkuasa dalam fenomena ini. Kajian ini mengambil pendekatan kajian kualitatif menggunakan instrumen kajian temubual separa-struktur yang mana memilih 4 orang informan yang terdiri daripada pihak Mahkamah Rendah Syariah Pulau Pinang, pihak Pejabat Agama Pulau Pinang dan informan yang pernah bercerai. Seterusnya, analisis temubual dengan menggunakan analisis tematik dengan bantuan perisian Atlas.ti 23 agar data temubual dapat diolah dan disusun dengan teratur. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan isu tanggungjawab antara suami dan isteri merupakan punca penceraian pada hari ini berlaku. hal ini demikian kerana setiap pengabaian dalam peranan sebagai suami atau isteri mampu mempengaruhi kebahagiaan sebuah rumah tangga. namun begitu, penceraian akan memberi kesan yang besar kepada keluarga terutama anak yang akan menjadi mangsa.Walaupun terdapat banyak kajian lepas mengenai penceraian pasangan muda telah dijalankan, namun kajian ini dapat menyumbang kepada perkembangan ilmu berkaitan strategi dan usaha pihak mahkamah Syariah dalam menguruskan penceraian yang kerap berlaku dalam konteks pasanagn belia di Seberang Perai Utara, Pulau Pinang. KEFAHAMAN DAN AMALAN MASYARAKAT DALAM MENYAMBUT MAULID NABI MENURUT ISLAM: KAJIAN KES DI JENGKA Ahmad Nasrullah Aris Fezul Emel: [email protected] ABSTRAK Sambutan maulid Nabi saw merupakan tradisi masyarakat Islam di Malaysia khususnya. 12 Rabiul Awal merupakan tarikh bagi umat Islam di Malaysia memperingati hari kelahiran baginda Nabi saw. Walau bagaimanapun, perkara ini telah menjadi polemik dalam kalangan asatizah sama ada sambutan ini dibenarkan di sisi agama atau pun tidak. Hal ini berlaku kerana, sambutan yang dibuat dalam masyarakat hari ini tidak pernah dilakukan pada zaman sahabat, tabiin, tabi’ tabiin dan generasi selepasnya. Kajian ini telah dijalankan bagi mengkaji kefahaman dan amalan masyarakat di Jengka tentang sambutan Maulidur Rasul. Lokasi ini dipilih kerana Jengka merupakan antara tempat yang aktif dengan penganjuran program-program keagamaan khususnya ketika sambutan Maulidur Rasul. Justeru, kajian ini adalah untuk mengkaji tahap kefahaman masyarakat di Jengka tentang sambutan maulid Nabi saw dan mengenal pasti amalan yang dilakukan oleh mereka semasa sambutan maulid serta kesannya terhadap masyarakat di Jengka. Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk penyelidikan kajian kes kualitatif. Data bagi kajian ini telah diperoleh dengan menjalankan temubual separa struktur terhadap tiga orang informan, khususnya masyarakat yang menetap di Jengka. Tiga informan tersebut iaitu satu informan daripada orang awam yang pernah mengikuti sambutan Maulidur Rasul dan dua informan daripada ahli akademik dan pendakwah yang aktif bersama masyarakat di Jengka. Individu-individu tersebut telah ditemu bual beberapa soalan berkaitan dengan sambutan maulid Nabi saw dari sudut kefahaman, ritual dan kesannya kepada masyarakat. Seterusnya, dapatan kajian dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis tematik yang menggunakan perisian Atlas.ti 23 untuk membentuk tema bagi meneliti kefahaman dan amalan masyarakat dalam menyambut maulid Nabi saw. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa masyarakat di Jengka memahami tentang maksud sambutan maulid serta tujuan sambutan maulid Nabi saw diadakan. Kajian juga menunjukkan bahawa masyarakat di Jengka menganjurkan program-program yang bermanfaat seperti kuliah agama dan majlis selawat ketika sambutan maulid Nabi saw. Sebahagian informan juga berpendapat bahawa amalan yang dilakukan ketika sambutan maulid dapat menambahkan kecintaan terhadap Nabi saw. Namun begitu, setiap amalan yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat mestilah berlandaskan kepada al-Quran dan al-Sunnah agar amalan tersebut tidak bercampur dengan unsur-unsur khurafat. Implikasi kajian ini ialah dapat menambah baik kefahaman masyarakat tentang sambutan maulid dan juga memberi kesedaran tentang kesan sambutan maulid kepada masyarakat. FAKTOR-FAKTOR PEMBUBARAN PERKAHWINAN SECARA FASAKH DI SELANGOR Aisyah Hanani Binti Nasaruddin ABSTRAK Penceraian fasakh merujuk kepada satu proses di mana seorang hakim mahkamah syariah mengeluarkan keputusan untuk menceraikan pasangan yang berkahwin berdasarkan sebab-sebab tertentu yang ditetapkan dalam undang-undang syariah seperti keganasan rumahtangga, kegagalan memenuhi tanggungjawab dan ketidaksuburan. Fenomena penceraian fasakh boleh terjadi dalam masyarakat di mana individuindividu memohon penceraian melalui proses yang ditetapkan oleh undang-undang syariah. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktorfaktor pembubaran perkahwinan secara fasakh di mahkamah rendah syariah selangor dan penyelesaiannya. Bagi memastikan objektif kajian dapat dicapai, kajian ini telah menggunakan pendekatan kajian kualitatif dengan menggunakan instrumen kajian temu bual separa struktur bersama informan-informan yang terpilih. Bagi analisis data, kajian ini menggunakan analisa tematik dengan menggunakan bantuan perisian Atlas.ti 23 agar data temubual dapat dianalisis dengan mudah dan teratur. Hasil kajian mendapati proses permohonan bagi pembubaran perkahwinan disebabkan fasakh mengambil masa yang agak lama iaitu selama 9 hinggan ke 10 bulan. Hasil kajian ini diharapkan dapat mendedahkan tentang faktor pembubaran perkahwinan disebabkan fasakh, serta menjelaskan prosedur yang betul dalam permohonan pembubaran perkahwinan melalui fasakh kepada masyarakat muslim di Malaysia. Ia merupakan masalah yang serius dan memerlukan perhatian oleh autoriti berkaitan. Permasalahan gejala LBGT ini merupakan isu yang utama bagi kebanyakkan negara terutamanya negara Malaysia. Di Malaysia, gejala ini sudah berleluasa sehingga kini dan mampu merosakkan jiwa masyarakat sedunia tidak kira di peringkat umur, agama dan bangsa. Sehubungan dengan itu, kajian ini dijalankan bertujuan untuk mengkaji tahap kefahaman mahasiswa Institut Pengajian Tinggi Swasta di Selangor berkaitan pengharaman LGBT dalam Islam, mengenalpasti faktor keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam gejala LGBT serta menganalisa kaedah terbaik untuk mengatasi gejala LGBT ini. Justeru itu, pendekatan kajian tinjauan telah dipilih dengan menggunakan borang soal selidik sebagai instrumen kajian. Sebanyak 222 responden telah menjawab soal selidik yang diedarkan. Responden adalah terdiri daripada mahasiswa/i IPTS di Selangor, yang dipilih menggunakan kaedah persampelan pengumpulan data melalui platform google form. Data yang diperoleh telah dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan melaporkan nilai min, sisihan piawai berkaitan tahap kefahaman, faktorfaktor dan kaedah penyelesaian dalam mengatasi gejala LGBT. Hasil dapatan kajian ini akan menjadi jawapan bagi persoalan kajian serta mampu membantu golongan yang terlibat dalam gejala bermasalah ini. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat memberi impak yang besar iaitu mampu mengubah dan membantu mahasiswa yang terjerumus dalam gejala LGBT. KESEDARAN PENGURUSAN HALAL DI INDUSTRI KECIL DAN SEDERHANA (IKS) : KAJIAN LAPANGAN DI DAERAH HULU SELANGOR Mohammad Faqihul Hilmi Bin Ahmad Yani Fakulti Pendidikan dan Sains Sosial Universiti Selangor [email protected] ABSTRAK Ketinggian Agama Islam mengambil kira segala perbuatan dan kelakuan individu muslim supaya menjadi manusia yang memberi manfaat dan kebaikan di atas muka bumi ini.Dalam industri makanan sebagai seorang muslim wajib meletakkan kepentingan halal yang terutama yakni kesucian, kebersihan, keselamatan dan kualiti makanan tersebut kerana ia dituntut dalam agama untuk mencari dan memilih makanan dari sumber yang halal. Malaysia beruntung kerana memiliki agensi kerajaan yang berautoriti iaitu Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) yang dapat mengawal serta mengesahkan sesuatu produk itu, menepati piawaian yang telah ditetapkan. Hal ini memberi kesan kebaikan kepada pengguna khususnya umat Islam malah kebaikan tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan oleh seluruh rakyat Malaysia.Namun begitu, sejauh mana kepentingan halal ini dirasai oleh rakyat malaysia khususnya pengusaha syarikat di Industri Kecil dan Sederhana(IKS). Maka dengan itu, satu kajian Kesedaran Pengurusan Halal di Industri Kecil dan Sederhana dijalankan di kawasan lapangan Daerah Hulu Selangor. Maka objektif yang dituju adalah,mengenal pasti tahap kesedaran terhadap pengurusan halal dan kepentingan pemilikan pensijilan halal.Oleh demikian, pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dengan kaedah temubual separa struktur yakni melibatkan 7 informan menggunakan tematik bantuan persian Atlas.ti 23 bagi memudahkan menganalisis data .Hasil kajian ini,menemukan terhadap sikap yang dilontarkan oleh pengusaha terhadap pengurusan halal iaitu mengutamakan kebersihan dan keinginaan untuk memiliki pensijilan halal.Nirmalanya, kajian ini dapat dijadikan input pada kerajaan khususnya supaya dapat membantu Industri Kecil dan Sederhana ini membagun dan berdaya saing menuju wawasan Negara Malaysia yang tercinta. 7. TAHAP PENGETAHUAN PENDUDUK KG. BAHAGIA AYER HITAM JOHOR TERHADAP RUKHSOH SOLAT JAMAK DAN QASAR Muhammad Azri Bin Azmi ABSTRAK Kajian dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti sejauh mana tahap pengetahuan dan pengamalan penduduk Kg. Bahagia Ayer Hitam Johor terhadap rukhsoh solat Jamak dan Qasar.Kajian ini dilakukan di Kg Bahagia Ayer Hitam Johor kerana terdapat sesetengah kawasan yang tidak mengetahui akan rukhsah ini.hal ini kerana kurangnya pendedahan tentang rukhsah jamak dan qasar ini kepada masyarakat. Penghayatan solat dalam kalangan masyarakat masih rendah, pelaksanaan solat tidak dianggap penting di samping solat dianggap bukan keutamaaan. Dalam erti kata lain, dalam keadaan tiada halangan syarak untuk mengerjakan solat pun masih ada sebahagian Muslim tidak menunaikan solat, apatah lagi dalam keadaan musafir.oleh itu,kajian ini penting bagi menilai penduduk Kg Bahagia terhadap rukhsoh solat jamak dan qasar ini. Responden kajian ini terdiri daripada 112 penduduk Muslim Kg. Bahagia Ayer Hitam Johor. Kajian ini juga adalah berbentuk kajian kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data adalah menggunakan instrumen soal selidik yang mengandungi tiga bahagian iaitu bahagian A, B dan C. Kesemua bahagian mempunyai 23 item. Data yang diperoleh telah dianalisa secara deskriptif dengan melaporkan penduduk Kg Bahagia menunjukkan tahap kefahaman dan pengamalan yang baik terhadap solat jamak dan qasar ini. Oleh itu, kajian patut diteruskan bagi melihat dan mengukur tahap pengetahuan masyarakat tentang rukhsoh solat jamak dan qasar ini.
