Our Best Memories ofYtEhAe RYe1a3r

As my Yr13s are about to enter the next phase of their lives and will
soon be saying goodbye to KIS, I will always remember the beginning
of my day which starts with registration! Normally, the first to join me
in the ICT lab are the JJ twins (Jobin and James). As they walk leisurely
into the room, I would be greeted with their smiles and “Good morning,
Ms B!” Next, greeting me with a mixture of expressions, sometimes
with happy giggles, other times with worried and tired looks, occasion-
ally with just a blank stare – yes, those would be four of my Spice Girls
(Jimin, Leilana, Iffa and Taz). Shortly after, the Fantastic Nine would
follow, some with their jackets on (regardless of the temperature of
that day – which still baffles me), while others carry coffee mugs,
munching heartily on their last mouthfuls of breakfast! With Lauren still
in Korea, I would proceed to record their attendance and then share
the day’s announcements with the happy group. All too quickly, our
morning session would end with lots of good wishes, to have a good
day and to stay safe…..

Mrs Bernard

The past 6 years in KIS have been a life-changing experience
for me. When I first arrived at KIS, I was just a small and naive
12 year old boy. Now as I’m about to depart from this school, I
feel that I have matured into a confident adult who’s ready to
tackle any challenges the world presents me with, I have trans-
formed into a successful global citizen. The school exposed me
to different challenges which I was able to overcome by being
a cunning, brave and good leader. Also, my academic develop-
ment has been exquisite. I can only attribute this to one unique
feature that KIS has, teachers that form very good relation-
ships with the students regardless of their abilities allowing us
to be comfortable and to be able to express ourselves.

Our Best Memories of the Year

Joining KIS in Year 5, I have nothing but good memories.
I have learnt so many things during school trips and DoE
with my closest friends. KIS has helped me find interest in
things I never knew I would be interested in, such as
coding. Taking on the leadership and responsibility of
becoming a Prefect and House Captain at this school has
helped me be the person that I am today. The
atmosphere is just wonderful. One-to-one teaching has
been very beneficial as teachers give lots of support and
care to make me feel prepared for university life. KIS has
helped me to meet a diverse range of people from
various backgrounds and cultures, broadening my cultural
awareness.

Jobin

My experience of being in KIS for the last 7 years has been
precious. It has helped me develop my confidence,
especially through all my student leadership roles such as
being a Prefect, a member of the Charity Committee and a
Vice House Captain for Sulug. I have also been able to
create treasured memories with my friends in KIS
through all the events that have been held throughout the
years, such as 4Fest, Book Week and many others!
Although my final years have been a mix of being in school
physically and having online lessons, there are still many
memories made throughout these two years which I will
cherish forever.

Our Best Memories of the Year

Throughout my time at KIS, I received an excellent
education within a caring and respectful environment.
Though that is not to say that it was not without some
hardships. I was always challenged and encouraged to
achieve my full potential. Needless to say, I believe that I
have been equipped with all the tools and experience to
become a successful global citizen. Highlights from my 4
years at KIS include my Silver DoE expedition around the
Sabah Tea Plantation and the U15 FOBISIA Games.

James

My 6 years at KIS were wonderful, the experiences and values
I have gained from my time at KIS have proven to be invalua-
ble. Though I'm sure we will all leave school with a sense of
accomplishment in one form or another it's important to know
that we're all human and we sometimes make pretty bad
mistakes. I know I've had some really embarrassing moments.
So if you will, (because I am such a sophisticated college
student who knows so much about life) let me give you a few
pieces of advice: accept your faults because you'll be a better
person, don't beat yourself up too much (you'll have friends
for that) and make friends with people who don't beat you up
too much (you have yourself for that).

Our Best Memories of the Year

This school had small enough classes that everyone knew
everyone, but not every class had every student being
comfortable with every student. Then there’s my class
which had enough clowns that meant every friend circle
would overlap a lot. I’ve never seen so much interaction
between every single person within a class, and I’m glad
that it means I’m probably going to be keeping in touch
with most of them years after we leave.

Suraj

Throughout the 4 years that I have spent in KIS, I have
always felt very welcome and looked after. Every one of
the students here is friendly and easy to talk to, while the
teachers, although strict, are immensely helpful and give
the best advice and support a student could ask for.
Studying for my IGCSEs and A Levels at KIS has helped me
to become a hardworking, studious and flexible student,
ever adapting to the situations that I face. As I continue
into society and the world after KIS, I leave behind some
words that I live by. "Very little is needed to make a happy
life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking."
- Marcus Aurelius.

Our Best Memories of the Year

My experience at KIS is unique and different to that of other
schools I have been to. The community is very diverse and
accepting, the open-mindedness of students and teachers
here in this school makes it extra special to learn in an inter-
acting and safe environment. Moreover, there is an organ-
ised support system where students have a voice, so that
we can give suggestions and raise issues to make school an
ideal place for everyone. Being a member of the Student
Council this year, I realised the importance of students hav-
ing authentic opinions and the teachers here will always try
their best to deliver what is on the table, whether it is help-
ing those who are experiencing academic difficulties or try-
ing to make lessons more fun and intriguing.

Ethan

After 15 years at KIS, I look back on how I’ve grown as a
person; from F1 to Year 13, I’ve been lucky enough to
watch our community grow and become a thriving
environment, continuously providing students with the
ability to learn and develop. Over the years, being
surrounded by the vast diversity of cultures has made me
more aware, and has given me some of the most invalua-
ble friends and teachers from all over the world. The
experiences and leadership roles I’ve had here are
immeasurable, and after so many years it hurts to be
leaving, but I have no doubt that KIS has prepared me for
anything that comes my way in the future.

Our Best Memories of the Year

Ta z k h i Studying in KIS has been both memorable and valuable. The
James various leadership roles that I was able to take part in, such
as becoming a Prefect, have helped enhance my confidence
level and shaped me into a more open-minded person, pre-
paring me for the next journey that awaits beyond the
school doors. Being able to meet, engage and learn with
people of different cultural backgrounds has been the high-
light of my time in KIS, and I will always cherish those mo-
ments.

My time in KIS over the years has been a valuable and joyful
experience. Over the years I have met a lot of different peo-
ple and have had many different experiences which has
helped me become more confident in myself and has shaped
me as a person. KIS has given me many opportunities such
as the opportunity to join the FOBISIA Coding Challenge
which has helped me develop my IT skills in a fun and enjoy-
able environment. Studying in KIS has helped me develop
my life skills which will help in the future.

My time as a student in KIS has been one of the most
memorable journeys I had in the past 10 years. Over the years I
have seen the growing changes that KIS has gone through,
seeing the process of new buildings being built and facilities for
the community to use. The school has given me the opportunity
to participate in various events, having different leadership
roles, meeting new people from around the world, and
understand different cultures. The experience I have gained
has allowed me to find my area of interest, the ability to apply
newly learned skills which enables me to prepare myself for
the future.

Bobby

My experience as a student over the past few years at
KIS has been very meaningful. Taking leadership roles
such as a House Captain and being a member of the Chari-
ty Committee and Student Council has improved my abil-
ity to be flexible and adapt to situations that I may face in
the future. Studying at KIS has made me hardworking,
responsible and versatile, preparing me to become an up-
standing member of society.

Our Best Memories of the Year

I have been studying in KIS since Year 8 Term 2 and have
enjoyed my 5 years of education here. My last two years
have been great in Sixth Form with highlights such as the
Biology field trip and learning about a lot of complex
topics in my classes as well as being surrounded by
amazing teachers and students.

Jimin With KIS being my first and last school before university,
Lauren it has truly helped pave an inspiring path for my next
steps. I'm endlessly grateful to have been a part of this
ever-changing school and for all the things I’ve learnt and
experienced. The opportunity to meet incredible people
has gifted me with all my closest friends and teachers -
people who I'll never forget. Leaving KIS after 13 years of
treating it as my second home sounds daunting, but I
believe this school has prepared me well enough to thrive
wherever I go.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason
for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the
mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is
enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day.
Never lose a holy curiosity. … Don't stop to marvel. - Albert Einstein
