EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Positive Findings
1. External and internal walls are made of fire resistant materials.
2. The fire extinguishers are refilled periodically
3. Zone detection system has been provided along with a repeater panel.
4. Electrical cables have been identified and labelled.
5. Good housekeeping is maintained in the premises.
6. Sufficient space is kept in substations in order to provide free movement.
7. DG set is provided with fire and weather proof enclosures.
8. All occupants are involved in fire drills.
9. Emergency lights are available in escape routes and backed up by UPS supply.
10. All perimeter entry and critical areas have CCTV coverage.

Areas for Improvement
1. Review the fire hydrant and sprinkler systems provided as per the TAC guidelines and IS 15105 respectively.
2. The number of emergency exit signages to be increased to cover all emergency exits. The signages must be in line with the
requirements of IS 12349
3. Records to be maintained for transformer oil dielectric test, mock drills, etc.
4. Ensure that sand buckets in transformer and DG area are properly maintained.
5. All openings in walls of the substations to be covered.
6. Provide fire doors to all the fire exits. Procure certificates for the same.
7. Ensure that the fire exits are kept free from obstruction at all times.
8. The PPEs (Gloves etc) used by electrician should be tested periodically.
9. Install detection system in the basement storage area.
10. Provide a smoke extraction system for the basement.
11. Provide a gas suppression system to the switch room in building 365
12.Provide a fire rated door to the VCB room.
13. Ensure that double body earthing is provided to the ACB.
13. Ensure adequate ventilation in the battery/ UPS room.
