One of our beloved objectives of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Inc. is “To inspire service in the public interest.” As a means of fulfilling that commitment as Kappa Men, The Charlotte (NC) Alumni Chapter proudly announces the launch of Cub Scout Pack 1911 in partnership with Boy Scouts of America through The Kappa Foundation of Charlotte. September marked the official launch date. Pack 1911, in alignment with our Scout Charter, has established a program for character development, citizenship training, leadership, and mental and physical fitness. Collaboration and partnership between the Kappa Foundation directly bring together essential tenants of scouting and the goals and aims of mentoring young men for life, while exposing them to firsthand leadership and opportunities for growth and learning. Pack 1911 offers this opportunity to young men between kindergarten through fifth grade as a segway for mentoring and leadership exposure. It may serve as a segway into Guide Right and Kappa League for our participants. Pack 1911 is led by Brother David S. Taylor, Brother Carlos D. Watson, Brother Cedrick McCorkle, Brother David Allen, Jr., and Brother Jerome Greene, Jr. This team offers years of scouting experience and extensive experience mentoring young men through Guide Right and Kappa League. Additionally, each possesses a sincere desire to play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of our young leaders both now and for years to come. Through The Kappa Foundation of Charlotte, “We foster exceptional achievement by young men in our community through diligent role modeling, mentoring, and structured involvement.” The mission of Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. We are extremely excited for our Pack 1911 members and the journey that has begun with them. The notion of partnering with Boy Scouts of America moved from an initial vision to planning and applying for the Pack Charter. We are extremely pleased that the request to designate our pack as 1911 was reserved and granted to the Kappa Foundation of Charlotte. As an introduction to scouting, our Pack Community Above Brothers Jerome Green, Cedric McCorkle, David Allen and the 22nd Middle Eastern Province Polemarch Carlos Watson. 1911 Leadership Team will guide and encourage our boys to serve our community while making friends, being helpful, and doing their very best no matter the outcome. Safety and protection of Pack 1911 Scouts are essential pillars of a successful experience and ensure the families of our participants that we have their best interest at heart when it comes to leadership development and learning for life. Scouting as offered through Pack 1911 presents a safe place to teach, explore, attempt, and in some situations fail in a safe environment. Pack 1911 Scouts engage in hiking, camping, fishing, and various outdoor activities. For some, this is their first exposure to these activities in a hands-on format. Target and upcoming events include the signature Cub Scout Pinewood Derby, visiting historic and cultural places, and engaging with other local scout packs. Informative discussions and exposure to age-appropriate leadership examples is paramount to the learning experience. Since leaders learn by doing, a ripe environment is being set for our youth. Throughout all scout activities, character development, citizenship, personal fitness, and leadership dimensions remain front and center. Our Pack 1911 Leaders desire to open the doors of exposure for pack members while supporting individual and pack growth and development. The Scout Motto, “Do your best”, is the established standard and is highlighted in all activities. This does not set conditions for perfection; however, it does empower the scouts to achieve in school, at home, in our community and everywhere. Learning while earning is recognized through the traditional awards and leadership designations within the structure of Boy Scouts of America. Scouting as offered through The Kappa Foundation of Charlotte via Pack 1911 presents opportunities for continuous learning and growth. Pack leaders encourage other Kappa Men to become involved, complete training, and engage in the mission to impact our young men. More broadly, the team encourages other chapters to consider launching a pack to open the doors of leadership and achievement to a younger audience of young men. Through The Kappa Foundation of Charlotte, the call to develop strong, young men is clear and Pack 1911 provides a capable vehicle to serve the community and prepare capable, next-generation leaders. Please join us in celebrating the launch of Cub Scout Pack 1911. Our young men are on a path to achievement in every field! Administrative Message 83rd Middle Eastern Province Council Donzell Newkirk, Province Keeper of Records Greetings My Brothers! It's an honor to express my gratitude to the membership for electing me your Middle Eastern Province Keeper of Records. I'm deeply appreciative of the trust and confidence you've placed in me, and I'm committed to serving you with dedication and integrity. In my first 12 months, I’ve focused on building strong relationships with chapters and members, understanding their needs, and implementing initiatives to address them effectively. I’ve aimed to foster open communication, promote transparency, and work collaboratively to achieve our goals. Ensuring timely notices to the membership has been crucial for transparency and engagement. We've streamlined our communication system to promptly inform members about important updates, events, and opportunities. By keeping everyone informed, we foster a sense of community and enable active participation in our shared goals. Additionally, I've prioritized learning and growth to ensure I can fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my ability. To that end our Grand Keeper of Records Brother Kevin Kyles created a Province Keeper of Records Task Force immediately following our 86th Grand Chapter Meeting. I was elected by my peers to serve as the Secretary of the Task Force. We’ve established a monthly meeting schedule to collaborate on our goals, address any challenges, and share progress updates. These meetings have provided us with a dedicated forum to brainstorm ideas, strategize, and ensure alignment towards our common objectives. Our first objective is to Clearly communicate and train fraternity leadership, chapter officers and advisors on the chapter operation functions within Fonteva as they are available for deployment. Our immediate deployment focus areas which will be moving AWAY from Kappaorg are Membership Rosters, Officer Reports and our Event Insurance Checklist. If you have not seen communication yet, in the coming weeks you will start to see Announcements on Awareness and Training Webinars. Our hope is to have a successful transition by June 30th and to make sure our members are prepared and trained. On the Province Level, the MEP is STRONG! We’ve held 5 successful events where I’ve collaborated with the Planning team and each Chairman for operational effectiveness. 1.Officers Workshop 2.C. Rodger Wilson Leadership & Training Conference 3.MEP Founders Day 4.Joseph King Davis Jr. Undergraduate Summitt 5.William E. Hooker Kappa League Summit We host our Monthly Polemarch and Advisors call where we’ve had 86% attendance from our Alumni Polemarchs, 83% attendance from our Undergraduate Polemarchs and 87% attendance from our Advisors. In closing my brothers my hope is that I’ve earned your trust! I ran on the campaign slogan “A better plan, a better future”. "Embracing a better plan sets the stage for a brighter future. Let's unite our efforts, innovate, and pursue excellence in all our endeavors. Together, we'll navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and pave the way for a prosperous tomorrow." Yours in the Bond, Donzell Newkirk 90

The invitees included around 60 leaders from other HBCU’s and other distinguished guest from various sectors of government, entertainment, and business. During the reception in addition to a celebrity chef and entertainment the guests were able to hear directly from Vice President Harris. The Vice President emphasized the crucial role of HBCU’s in America’s culture and development in addition to her personal experience attending one. HBCU’s are both celebrated and challenged during this time in the US. This event was a good networking event for our future leaders and a display of the invaluable product that it produces. These institutions each are rich in history and part of America’s fabric. Very important to have the attention of our leaders in government to help with sustaining the future. Brother Freeman is no stranger to both achievement and the Nation’s Capital. He has interned with the US Congress and is majoring in Political Science.
