127 out of 180 participants were able to
fulfil one of their bucket lists as they
managed to become blood donors
during the event. A thorough medical
checkup was conducted before every
donor was given permission to donate
their blood.

“This is a very interesting event. It is a huge
milestone for me as I never imagine myself saving
someone’s life” remarked one of the donors.

Every registered donor was instructed to follow certain
rules to be eligible to donate blood and those who were
considered unfit to donate was removed from the list.

“We need to eat enough carbs and have a sufficient amount
of sleep before donating to prevent us from experiencing

any complication after the process” respond one of
the donors regarding the rules.

Apart from that, Dayasari Blood Bucket Day also
organized the ‘All About Blood Quiz’ and ‘Every
Drop Of Blood Counts Poster Competition which
was opened to both Kuazians and Dayasarians. The
purpose of these activities was to increase their
knowledge about blood and raised awareness for

Escape The Brainiacs

Cue the upbeat investigation music!
Or… the Pink Panther theme could go too honestly. (Insert shameless
laugh here.)
Ever thought you’d do good as an investigator or a sleuth like Sherlock
Holmes or Shinichi Kudo? Well, this was one game that could give you
your answer. Held on the 6th and 9th of February 2021, and led by Mr
Irfan Nizar, Escape the Brainiacs consisted of a few virtually handled and
held rounds of mystery games, puzzles and riddles to test you and your
team! Using mediums such as Discord, Google Forms and a special
exclusive round on escaperoom.co for the finalists, the committee made
sure to have a whirlwind of challenges ready for the participants.

Despite the harsh technicalities of virtual escape
rooms, the rounds all went well and the puzzles
were all enjoyable and fun to work out (though
some brains were inevitably fried and some brain
cells were lost in the process). Props to the
committee for ensuring such smooth gameplay!
Besides improving brain power and enhancing
one’s investigation skills, participants also
managed to foster merrier bonds with their
teammates through all the sleuthing and
communicating.

Overall, it was a splendid alternative to the real
thing itself!

Congratulations to the winners! You lot might
as well try for the FBI or CIA in the future then.

You can be a bypassing jogger and think
''Oh, what a quaint plant''. Or maybe you
can even be someone walking to the café
for lunch and think ''My, what a nice,

the participants of this project strove to be.

Led by Furzani and having taken place from the 12th of February to the 6th of March 2021, this

A comic strip is one of the best media to spread an ideology
among society because it only consists of several panels

with pictures that represent a story that shares a message
to the audience. The message of the comic strip depended
on the person that created it. So this had lead to the comic

strip competition by the JTK communities to entice the
students to make comic strips containing good messages to

spread.

The Only Way To Fly. Each of theme had its own criterias and
situations that had to be followed. For example, the Spread

information in social media, so the participants' comics under

Dr Mohd Hilna Mohd Bajuri, a former

Ambassador and businessman, kicked off the
event with his insightful speech on career
planning. Being a father to a fellow
Dayasarian, he was depicted as a good
fatherly figure due to his friendly
approach towards the youth of Fifth
Residential College and his act of keeping
in touch with what the younger generation
appealed to.

Yet, on 20 February 2021, students got to

Malaya (UM) with an outstanding line of
achievements in academics. Being in the 59th

students of this university had to keep up and
meet society’s expectations thus, learning
effectiveness was important.

Mental health was just as important as
physical health. Mind Serum committee invited a
counsellor of UM, Mrs Nor Nismawati binti Mokhtar

exposure certainly opened students’ perspectives
on the hidden and silent battle some might be

DAYASARI EARTH HOUR 2021

Dayasari Earth Hour 2021 is a way to
express your appreciation towards our one
and only Earth. This amazing event was
held on the same day as Malaysia’s
National Earth Hour (27th April 2021) which
was aimed to foster love and care towards
our planet.

Throughout this project, Dayasarians were
given the opportunity to celebrate this
amazing event together and provide them
with the chance to show their support and
effort to care for our nature. Other than
that, this program allowed more golden

opportunities for us to spread
more awareness regarding the
importance of care for our
nature and help to uncover
more talents among the
creative mind of Dayasarians.

A lot of interesting activities were held
during the programme. For example, the
team organised a poster and plastic
collage competition with the theme
#connect2earth that was in line with this
year’s National Earth Hour theme. The
highlight of Dayasari Earth Hour 2021 was
during the night of 27th April. From 8:00
p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the whole college
agreed on turning off all of the electricity
sources as a symbol of saving energy.

Meanwhile, the committee members who
were still at the college were busy
decorating the court with light sticks in
the shape of ‘EARTH HOUR 2021’. Some
students didn’t miss the chances to join
the committee members to arrange the
lights sticks and take pictures during the
event.

It was a fun and enjoyable program, and
more events like this should be done to
show our love and respect towards the
Earth.

As a student, the balance between physical and learning must keep in perfect
condition. As we know the physical activities like exercise is really important to
keep our body in a good shape and avoid dangerous disease. With that in mind,
the JTK community has decided to organize the fun run for the Dayasarians only
it is called as Dayasari Run on 15th March to 21st March 2021.

Even with the pandemic the event was still going but with different approach.
The event was a virtual run rather than a live run that was supposed to be. The
virtual runs meant that the participants will be doing their run during the time
given which was 6 days and not all at once to avoid physical contact. The event
successfully gained almost 190 people to join the event. It clearly shows the
spirits of the Dayasarians. The participants had to make a complete 10Km run
and the run must be recorded with the chosen running app which were Strava
and Nike run club.

The event was divided into two categories which were 10km men and 10km
women. It was judged based on their time to finish the run, the shorter the time
taken, the higher the chance that they were going to win. The run was not just
done blindly but it involved some strategies. It was because the participants
were allowed to do the run gradually 3km on different run. So the time will sum
up and give the best result. Basically, they needed to come out with the best
strategies to make sure they have the good timing for higher change of winning.

At the end, 10 individuals were chosen as the winners for each category. The

winners were rewarded after the event was over. The event was the best method

to make people to do more physical activities as it made us healthier and gave us

a fun experience. Journalist: Adib Rifqi

Saturday Surge, an ongoing event,
was introduced with their lead
session with the theme The New

Saturday Surge main concerns
were to give a touch of escapism
for the college members out of the
excruciating study life and to
unleash the inside colours of the
college members.

Aspiring Dayasarians were
eager to express their passion
and talent in performing arts
namely busking, band
performances, instrument
solo and even juggling!
Audiences were brought

back to their memories when the
first performer Indigo Sunset
performed the evergreen Dan
Sebenarnya by Yuna and Kotak
Hati by Bunkface.

The excitement stepped up even more after
Muhammad Munif came upon the stage with a
saxophone and started vehemently blowing
some songs. A unique choice of song, Janam
Janam, was performed by our talented
Dayasarian, Danish Naufal. The audiences’
ears were blessed with the melodious
Passacaglia keyboard solo by Naseem after the
tremendous line-up of contemporary songs.
The spotlight then changed to Aiman,
performing his newly-found talent,
juggling. Who might have thought that
months of Movement Control Order were
what it takes to prepare him to cherish the
audiences with the comedic performance?
The night was decorated with colourful
light sticks and camera flashes, welcoming
the next band, Fade To Black, with their
upbeat, zealous performance including
Menjaga Hati by Yovie & Nuno and
Suasana Hari Raya by Anuar Zain and Ellin
The final performance by
Nazainis was close to the
audiences’ heart and
leisure-induced as they
chose the iconic song of

The soulful performance
left a tint in the audiences’

from Fellow Mellow, Medleys from Potato

Cube and Sprouts, and solo vocal
performances by both Nazrin Helmi and
Muhammad Shahrul caught the attention

of everyone. Blinks cheered and wave
their light stick, enjoying the soothing

piano cover of Gone by Rosé from
Muhammad Danish. The audiences seized
the chance to enjoy yet again a kalimba
cover by the trio Thrice. QNZ decided on

doing a parody of k-dramas, and it was
the best decision ever. Group 1004 made

all drool by introducing Korean foods.
There was even a live Mukbang session

by our emcees!

strumming our way to the
spotlight

THE LAST EVER SATURDAY SURGE SURELY LEFT A
TINT IN EVERY STUDENT OF FIFTH RESIDENTIAL
COLLEGE (DAYASARI). ON 20 MARCH 2021, SATURDAY
SURGE: RIFF OFF SERVED THE AUDIENCES WITH
VARIOUS PERFORMANCES FOCUSING ON MODERN
STRING INSTRUMENTS. TALENTED GUITARISTS,
BASSISTS AND UKULELISTS GATHERED TO BRIGHTEN
THE GLOOM!

OUR FAMOUS COLLEGE’S GUITARIST, ALIFF HAIKAL, OPENED THE STAGE WITH AN UPBEAT
YET SOOTHING GUITAR COVER OF AKU SKANDAL, AMOI CHANTEK AND CARAMEL CREAM.
THE AUDIENCES WERE SURPRISED AS THEY TILTED THEIR ATTENTION TO ADAM AIMAN,

ADDING A SPICE OF MODERNISM IN HIS VIRTUAL GUITAR AND DRUM COVER OF MEMORI
DAUN PISANG. THE MUSE, DUETTING THE VOCALS IN JIKA, SHIFTED THE SPOTLIGHT INTO

THEIR AWESOMENESS. A-IN, ON THE OTHER HAND, GRABBED A UKULELE AND STARTED
STRUMMING THE CHORDS OF PUZZLE PIECES BY NCT DREAM.

JUDGING FROM THE COMMENT SECTION, CAROLYNE
CAN BE SEEN AS THE CROWD’S FAVOURITE AFTER SHE
PERFORMED A MELODIOUS BILLIE EILISH SONG CALLED

8.

THE NIGHT WAS CLOSED BY NAZAINIS
FEATURING ELYZA PERFORMING LITTLE THINGS.
RE-ENACTING THE MOMENTS FROM THE FIRST
SATURDAY SURGE, WHICH WAS THE NEW
BEGINNING, THEY PERFORMED THE SAME SONG
AS THEY DID IN THE FIRST EVENT, SHALLOW.

IN BETWEEN THE PERFORMANCES, AN
ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNER FOR THE SATURDAY

SURGE: ALBUM REVIEW COMPETITION WAS MADE.

1ST PLACE: NUR ALISA FIKRIYAH
2ND PLACE: IFFAH NURAQILAH

IT SEEMED FITTING FOR THE THEME
TO HAVE BEEN MASQUERADE SINCE
IT SERVED US WITH THE
COGNIZANCE THAT THOUGH SOME
THINGS WERE HIDDEN, WE COULD
STILL FIND BEAUTY IN THEM. AND
THAT APPLIED TO OUR SHORT AND
FLEETING STAY AT THIS COLLEGE
THIS YEAR.

MAYBE IT WAS SHORT AND WE WERE
ROBBED OF CHANCES TO FULLY AND
PHYSICALLY ATTEND PROJECTS AND
COMPETITIONS, BUT IT MADE ALL THE
SMALLER AND MORE SUBTLE MOMENTS
SHARED - REGARDLESS BETWEEN
WORKING COMMITTEE MEMBERS, SHORT
TERM TEAMMATES, TUTORIAL AND
ACADEMIC DISCUSSIONS, THE SMALL
WINDOW OF TIME THAT THE RNI WAS
FUNCTIONAL AND EVERY NIGHT HELD A
DIFFERENT LATE-NIGHT DEBATE OR EVEN
TRIPS TO THE CAFETERIA OR
CONVENIENCE SHOP -

ALL THE MORE PRECIOUS AND
MEMORABLE. TO FINISH THIS REPORT
AND FINAL ENTRY IN THIS YEAR’S
MAGAZINE REPORT, ONLY GRATITUDE
CAN BE EXPRESSED TO DAYASARI
COLLEGE, ULTIMATELY FOR TEACHING
US AND SHOWING US THROUGH A ONE
OF A KIND AND IRREPLACEABLE
EXPERIENCE WHEN STAYING NESTLED
AND AT HOME IN YOUR TALL GATES.

ingin sekali aku menuai gugusan kunang-kunang
bercahaya petik bintang-bintang Libra ranum
neraca adil menimbang antara sekam atau
padi mana untungnya lebih
beri kamu sekam? beri dia padi?
kunang-kunang tidak berkerlipan di pagi hari

hari ke hari, sungai anjur pesta tanglung
dia tak menjemput kanak-kanak untuk merayakan

intelektual terkehadapan
pemimpin-pemimpin muda yang lantang
berhujah tokoh-tokoh manusiawi
mereka tidak ada masa untuk berpesta
mereka ambil juga beberapa tanglung
obor membakar kota lama anggun
“purba, tiada nilai pasak utuh”

kerlipan kunang-kunang bagai malam fantasi
kisah dongeng pari-pari dan magis
kunang-kunang tidak berkerlipan di pagi hari

Elok disusun mawar jambangan, Kainnya lusuh gadis di kota,
Menghias manikam jadi utusan, Berdagang mastuli buatan Jawa,
Kucipta pantun buat renungan, Usah mengeluh mengejar cita,
Semarak ilmu empunya wawasan. Kuatkan hati kentalkan jiwa.

Mekar cempaka pandang tak jemu, Dahan kedangsa hinggapan terkukur,
Bunganya luruh menimpa pegaga,
Sayang dibidik pemuda tampan,
Buku laksana lautan ilmu,
Andai terasa dirimu tersungkur,
Dasarnya penuh mutiara berharga. Ingatlah ayah dan ibu

Sireh berikat letak di puan, yang menaruh harapan.

Gubahan sunti berbenang selirat, Coretan hati;

Ikhlas berjihad menimba pengetahuan, Nor Syahidah
Kelak diberkati dunia akhirat.
Binti Nor Zawari
