105 2. Course Description Mathematics Connection6is a series of learning materials specially written to meet the mathematical needs of lower grade students. Written in a style that is simple and easy to understand, the series complies with the requirements of the latest syllabus, Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E. 2551. This course helps students infuse knowledge on operating and rounding numbers, factors and multiples, fractions, decimals, decimal operations, equations and solving equations and percentage and its applications. This course provides students with meaningful strategies, activities, and experiences that support the various strands identified in the math standards to stimulate their minds and help them master the skills with which they may build success and rewarding lives. The series is designed to introduce concepts progressively from the simple to the more advanced to enable students to recognize and connect mathematical ideas. Students are engaged in mathematic experiences that invite problem solving, reasoning, and communicating. Students will explore, analyze, make decisions, and think logically using a variety of mathematical methods. This course also integrates other disciplines such as English and Science subjects by including other extra curriculum such as: ASEAN, Global Warming, Sufficiency Economy, School Identity and Uniqueness. Since Thailand is a member of the ASEAN, understanding of ASEAN cross culture within the member countries is of great help for the students to understand and widen their knowledge about these member countries. It is also believed that Global Warming is one of the most environmental issues affecting the world today; therefore the students must be taught some practical skills on how they can help stop global warming. Applying the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy by His Majesty guides the livelihood and behavior of people at all levels, from the family to the community to the country, on matters concerning national development and administration .Following the School Identity which promotes simple virtues of love, mercy and gratitude develop the students’ uniqueness and ability to communicate effectively with modesty and creativity and willingness to work with others.
