The Peoria Park District shouldn’t just be your destination when the weather
is warm and sunny... we have more to explore during the cold
season, too. Whether you’ve made a New Year’s Resolution to exercise or you want to learn about the magic of maple syrup, the Peoria Park District has something for you this winter.
Regardless of the season, the Peoria Park District works to contribute to a healthy and vibrant Peoria community by responsibly using our District resources to offer high quality parks and recreation experiences to those who live, work, and play in our District.
Beginning January 1, we’re making it easier for you to explore the District with a new website and online registration system. Check out the details throughout this season’s playbook!

and locally crafted brews. The event also features a silent auction and activities that offer adults the opportunity to kick off 2018 through an enjoyable evening of play and conversation.

CAMP POLICIES
Installment Billing
• Camp fees can be paid in weekly installments through an automatic installment billing process. Installment billing must be set up at Noble Center, RiverPlex, Lakeview Recreation Center, Franciscan Recreation Complex, or online.
• A $20-per-week initial fee will be charged at the time of enrollment into installment billing.
• Installment billing must be set up as an automatic charge/debit to a credit card. All charges will be processed the Monday two weeks prior to
the respective camp week (example: if the camp week begins Monday, June 15, your account will be charged for that week on Monday, June 1.)
• Installment billing is not available for Peoria Zoo, Proctor Center, or Peoria PlayHouse.
• For more information on installment billing, please contact the registration office at 688-3667.
Early Bird Discount
• All camp registrations processed on or before April 9 will receive 10% off.
• All camp registrations processed between April 9 and May 4 will receive 5% off.
• Early bird discount is not available for Peoria Zoo, Proctor Center, or Peoria PlayHouse.
Scholarships
Scholarships are available based on economic need. Apply at the Noble Center Registration Desk.

Camp Refund Policy
Please read the Refund Policy for Day Camps carefully as this policy is different than the normal class/program refund policy of the Peoria Park District. These refund policies do not apply to Peoria Zoo Camp.
• The Peoria Park District must receive a written notice of cancellation for Day Camp at least 14 days prior to the start of the week of camp that you are canceling in order to receive a full refund minus a $5 service charge.
• NO FULL REFUNDS will be issued if canceling Day Camp less than 14 days from the start date of the week of camp you wish to cancel. You will then receive a 50% refund for each session with less than 14 days notice.
• NO REFUNDS will be given once each week of camp has started.
• For Peoria Zoo Camp, no refunds are issued after payment is received, and payment is due at the time of registration.
• For Peoria PlayHouse, no refunds are issued after payment is received.
HISRA Inclusion Services
Attention residents of Peoria, Morton, Chillicothe, and Washington Park Districts! Is there a program offered at your local park district that you would love for your child with special needs to be a part of, but they may need a little help? Call the Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association (HISRA) at 391-1929, or fill out an “Inclusion Request” on our website at hisra.org.
Upon reviewing the participant’s needs, HISRA's professional staff will work to integrate a participant into a program, adapt activities and provide additional support if appropriate to create an inclusive setting and successful experience. HISRA provides all inclusion services at no cost to residents of its Member Districts. Please contact HISRA to learn about non-resident inclusion rates.

Camp is back in Glen Oak Park! Games, sports, fishing, swimming and special trips keep the summer fun coming. Glen Oak Park is a great place for camp with the zoo, children's museum, gardens, lagoon, sports fields and
4 playgrounds, and we use them all! Light breakfast and lunch is provided. Program hours are from 8:30am to 4:00pm, but don't worry, extended care in the morning and afternoon is included in the camp fee.

Our program provides a wide variety of activities including: playing in our indoor AquaPlex, climbing our 30 foot rock wall; arts and crafts; health and fitness, and sports activities in our climate controlled arena. In addition, we access the Rolling River Playground, the RiverFront biking/walking trail, and much more. Counselors are trained in leadership, safety procedures, behavior management, activities and supervisory skills. Children will be grouped according to age in 5 different groups at camp. Campers should bring their own *lunch, swimsuit and towel on a daily basis and should always wear gym shoes. Drinks and snacks will be provided in the afternoon. All weekly fieldtrips are included in the price of the weekly fee. Sign up early as spots are limited to the first 88 children.

Pack your bags, Zoocampers - you are about to travel around the world! Spend an exciting week exploring animals across the globe, learning about the various habitats they live in and the fantastic adaptations that help them survive.
Each weekly program includes: animal encounters, science activities, crafts, games, and more.
Our Zoo Camp sessions are designed to meet the needs, interests and expectations appropriate to the developmental stage of campers at a particular grade level, so it is important that these guidelines are followed. Please do not request to enroll children in other grade categories.
• Registration is required. To register, please call (309) 681-3559. Registration begins March 1.
• Programs will fill quickly and are on a first come, first served basis.
• Registration fees are non-refundable and are required at time of
registration.
• Peoria Zoo reserves the right to cancel programs with insufficient
registration. A full refund will be given for programs canceled due to low
attendance.
• Programs are held rain or shine.
• Camp fees include one Zoo Camp t-shirt.
• A snack will be provided each day.
• Campers in sessions 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8 will need to bring a sack lunch.
• *Camps for 4th through 8th graders include a Zoo Snooze from 7pm Thursday to 9am Friday. The camp
session for these weeks (Sessions 1,2,7, & 8) will officially end at 9 am Friday morning. A bonus day of camp on Friday is available for an additional cost. Please call for more information.

Ancient Oaks Day Camp is all about having fun and educational experiences in the great outdoors. Weekly themes reflect on a variety of fun events and plenty of hands-on activities. Located on 320 acres, Sommer Park consists of woods, open fields, hiking trails, ponds and a neighborhood park.
Ancient Oaks Day Camp is the best place to be this summer as we celebrate our 48th season of memories for children and adults. Our weekly hotdog/s’more roast and singing tree held every Friday is a fun tradition for campers! Pre-camp tours available by appointment by calling 657-8855.

We offer exciting action themes, with activities like sports, games, arts and crafts, nature programs, and special events and trips. Extended care and field trips are included in the camp fee. In this awesome art camp, kids will splatter, spray, and smear, bend,

Welcome to the new and improved Proctor Summer Fun Academy Camp! This year is going to be an exciting one. Children will experience fun, adventure, and excitement in an atmosphere of safety and inclusion for everyone. We are now offering 5 two-week sessions instead of 2 four-week sessions. This gives you the opportunity to choose from ten action packed weeks of sports of all sorts, performing arts and entertainment, and culinary lessons, just to name a few.
What sets Proctor Fun Academy apart from the rest is the knowledge children will learn in the classroom. For example, in addition to ice-skating, students will make ice cream, and also learn what happens during an ice age! Children are grouped according to age and gender and are provided lunch and a snack each day. Camp hours are 7:30am-5:00pm to increase the availability to partake in our camp and meet the needs of our community. Scholarships are available for those who qualify.

The Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum provides children with the tools and inspiration they need to be explorers and creators of the world. We do this in part through understanding, supporting, and promoting play in the fullest sense of the word, one that includes imagination and creativity.
Built by the Junior League of Peoria, in collaboration with Peoria Park District and Peoria Zoological Society, the Peoria PlayHouse is a hands-on, interactive children’s museum. It is located in the historic Glen Oak Park Pavilion building within Glen Oak Park, adjacent to Peoria Zoo and near Luthy Botanical Garden, providing a full-day destination for families in our region.

Owens Recreation Center is an indoor ice skating facility featuring two full-size NHL rinks. Owens offers year-round ice skating lessons for ages 3+ and comprehensive hockey and figure skating programs.
Family Skate ends for the Season on March 25. Every Sunday, families (up to 5 people) can skate for $25 (including skate rentals). Additional skaters pay $4.75 each.
Public Skate Passes - Get a 10 visit pass for only $32 (Juniors and Seniors) or $42 (Adults). Skate rental is available for an additional $3 per visit.
Group Discounts: A discounted rate of $4.75/person is given to groups of 10-50 who make a reservation at least one week in advance. No passes may be used. A $23.75 non-refundable deposit required for groups of 20 or more. No group reservations during holiday hours.
Public Skate Specials: Owens also offers discounts for students, skating school participants and those with Mustang ticket stubs.

Ever had a giraffe peaking in your bedroom window? You can now when you spend the night at Peoria Zoo! Get a chance to sleep
in Africa!, enjoy nocturnal tours, meet some animals up close and find out what the Zoo is like at night. Your group's adventure begins at 7:00pm and ends the next morning at 9:00am. Snack and breakfast provided as well as admission into the Zoo the next day! This program is great for scouts, church groups, family reunions, and so many others!

A 45 minute program that enhances any visit to the Zoo. With many topics to choose from, give your group a chance to meet some animals up close!

Bicycle Safety Town
6518 N Sheridan Road, Peoria, IL
Open daily dawn to dusk, except during bicycle safety education class.
This one of a kind learning track, complete with traffic and road signs, provides a great place for younger riders to learn the rules of the road or a safe arena for older, more experienced riders to have fun. The facility has a picnic shelter, a covered bleacher area, toddler-age playground, family restroom, as well as a paved path which links to the Rock Island Greenway. Bicycle safety education classes for primary school ages, scouting and youth groups are offered.
All bicyclists (toddlers, children, and adults) MUST wear properly fitted helmets. Scooters, skateboards, roller skates/roller blades, and motorized equipment are prohibited from the track. Bicycle Safety Town is also available for private shelter rental at $25/hour, minimum 2 hour rentals.
A Pre-School Birthday Party package is available for $85, and includes a bicycle safety program with crafts and songs, up to 10 bicycles with training wheels for 30 minutes, and a free helmet for the birthday child!
Bicycle Safety Town Bike Rally
A bicycle safety rally, that includes bicycle safety inspections, bicycle rodeo, bicycle safety programs, games, crafts, and free helmets for kids 8 years and under. Some sponsors will provide information on alternate transportation that help reduce our carbon footprint. Please Note:
1. Children 10 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent/guardian (age 17+) outside of open swim hours.
2. During open swim hours, children 7 and under must be accompanied by a parent/ guardian (17+) in the pool area.
3. Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times.
4. We do not allow any outside flotation devices such as water wings and rafts.
5. The whirlpool is for ages 17+.

All classes and programs listed are held in the AquaPlex at the RiverPlex. Registration for classes can be done at the RiverPlex or at the Noble Center.

Preschool Splash
Join us for this parent/child program in the leisure splash pool. A parent or guardian must be in the water with the children.

Water Aerobics at the RiverPlex
All classes are free to RiverPlex members. Non-members may purchase a 10 pass punch card for $50. Please pick up a water aerobics schedule at the RiverPlex or at peoriaparks.org.
Aqua Zumba: Perfect for those looking to make a splash by adding a low-impact, high-energy aquatic exercise to their fitness routine. There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba class so you can really let loose. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles.
Senior Fit: A great class set to upbeat music for the mature aerobics fan. Held in the warm water therapy pool, this class is great for those who want strengthening, additional flexibility, and those with joint problems.
Tummies and Thighs: This class is designed to work your abs and your thighs (plus your legs and lower back).
OSF Arthritis: Join us for a workout in the warm water to improve your joint range of motion and strength - there is easy entrance into the pool. A Physician Consent form is required. Call 282-1605 to register.
OSF Multiple Sclerosis: Focus on stretching, joint range of motion, muscle strengthening, balance, and coordination in a positive social setting. A Physician Consent form is required. Call 282-1605 to register.
Run the Rapids: This class will give you the benefits of running without all the stress on your body. Water shoes recommended.
Tai Chi: An end of the week breather! Relax and get a great workout while our instructors lead you through a series of controlled movements and breathing techniques set to serene music.
High/Low: A great overall workout and conditioning class that includes a warm-up, cardio and strengthening, and cool down.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Exploration 1: Age 6-24 months
This class is for infants and adults to enjoy together. An instructor will lead the group through a series of developmentally appropriate water activities. Class is held in the warm water pool for added comfort.
Exploration 2: Age 24 months-3 years
This class is specifically for toddlers and adults to learn together. An instructor will lead the adults through different swim exercises and activities to promote independent swimming for the child. Class is held in the warm water pool for comfort.
Voyagers: Age 3
This is an introduction to swimming for toddlers
who are 3 years old at the start of the class. Participants will learn water independence, basic water movement and floats in the warm water pool. Adults are not in the water with children in this class. Register early - class fills quickly!
Pre-Journey: Age 4-7
This class is for children who have had NO swimming experience or who may be timid getting into the water.
Journey 1: Age 4-7
This course is for children who are comfortable in the water and have some water experience. This course will focus on floating, kicking, breathing, and beginner strokes. Register early - class fills quickly!
Journey 2: Age 4-7
Children MUST know how to float, glide and kick by themselves, and have basic stroke knowledge. They will learn front crawl breathing, proper back crawl arms, and be introduced to breaststroke and butterfly kicking.
Journey 3: Age 4-7
Children should be able to swim one length of the pool and will continue to work on skills from the previous level. Participants will learn breaststroke and start building their endurance. Time will also be given to diving and treading water.
Discovery 1: Age 7-15

For children who know the basic elementary backstroke, butterfly, and sidestroke. Development of these strokes will be emphasized as well as turns, competitive starts, and safety skills.
Challenge Expert: Age 7-15
In this course, children will continue with what has been introduced in Challenge Advanced. The focus is on developing stroke proficiency and polishing existing techniques over longer distances. Swimmers will also be introduced to a few more advanced aspects of competitive swimming, such as flip turns, streamlining, and breathing techniques.
Adult Learn to Swim - Beginner: Age 16+
This class is for adults who are not afraid of the water, but need to learn the basic skills of swimming.
Adult Learn to Swim - Intermediate: Age 16+
We will work at improving your front and back crawl strokes, endurance levels, and add other strokes as desired. You should be able to swim 100 yards on your front and back.
Terrified of Water: Age 16+
This adult learn to swim lesson is taught in the class section of the lap pool in a small group setting. The instructor will help you to deal with any fears that you may have about the water environment, while teaching you basic swimming skills, such as front and back floats and freestyle stroke.
Homeschool Swim Program: Ages 5-16
Your child will receive a swim lesson and also enjoy splash time with other children in our leisure pool.

Coach Pitch • Age 6-8
This league is fun, non-competitive, and stresses fundamentals for boys and girls. Seven-year-olds may choose between Coach Pitch A and AA based on the child's ability. Players who feel comfortable playing catch and consistently hit a pitched ball should sign up for AA. Weekday practices and games will last for one hour and will start at either 5:30 and 6:30pm. Saturday games

Youth Basketball League
Youth of all ability will learn the skills necessary to enjoy the game of basketball for life. Under the instruction of volunteer coaches, participants will develop techniques, knowledge, and strategy with an emphasis on fun, sportsmanship, and fair play.
• 5yrs-Kindergarten: This league will involve 30 minutes of practice time and 30 minutes to play a game at the end of practice.
• Grades 1-4: Practices are 1 hour at 5:30 or 6:30pm; games on Saturday will be played between12:00 and 4:00pm at Lakeview Rec Center.
• Grades 5-6: Practices are 1 hour at 7:30pm; games on Saturday will be played between 12:00 and 4:00pm at Lakeview Rec Center.
• Parent-Athlete-Meeting (PAC) Meetings are mandatory. The meeting will be held January 17 at 5:30pm for 5 years-2nd grade and at 6:15pm for 3rd-6th grade.

This recreational league, held at Mossville Soccer Complex, allows each child to participate in every game. There
will be a mandatory (Parent-Athlete-Coach) meeting held at Franciscan Recreation Complex for players and parents registered for the Mighty Mites through Shooters leagues. Here you will meet your coach and get the season schedule. Varsity packets will be mailed out. Season runs 4/9-6/2. Registration deadline: March 26 (or when league is full). A $5 late fee will be charged if registering after March 26.

Ways To Save When You Public Skate
• Public Skate Passes: Purchase a 10 Session Admission Pass (Skate Rental Not Included): Junior/Senior: $32 Adult: $42
• Group Reservations: Reservation request must be made 2 weeks in advance and is subject to availability. No passes or other discounts apply. $4.75 per person for 10-50 participants. A non-refundable deposit of $23.75 required for groups of 20 or more.
• Student Discount: $1 off admission when you present your student ID
• Learn to Skate Participants: $4.75 (admission/rental) per person for you and anyone with
you when you show the receipt from the current session you are enrolled in.
• Family Skate ends for the Season on March 25. Every Sunday families (up to 5 people)
can skate for $25 including skate rental. Additional skaters pay $4.75/person.

ICE SKATING
Learn to Skate Group Class Participant Information:
Each class/time must meet a minimum in order to run. Clothing: Warm clothing with mittens/gloves, hats and protective head gear for young children recommended. Wear one pair of thin socks. Skates: Skate rental is included with the cost of the class and should be your shoe size to one size above. For more information, go to peoriaparks.org/owens-center-skating-school. Whether your child wants to play hockey, figure skate, or needs a FUN activity, Skating Stars is where it's at! Skating Stars is comprised of 3 levels with 26 elements. Skate rental is included.

Prepare for an intense on-ice workout! This class helps
Booster Lessons
strengthen the skater’s endurance and speed. Get ready to have fun while working up a sweat. This class corresponds with
the monthly freestyle schedule.
Pre-requisite: Learn to Skate Level 10
Fee: $6 walk-on or $50 for 10 Session Punch Card
Receive help on new skills or reinforce difficult skills with private instruction from a member of our Booster Staff. Must be enrolled in current group skating lessons.
