Be a hero in the strife!” The Investiture Ceremony is a tradition, where School’s Captains and Prefects are appointed to the Student Cabinet and entrusted with the responsibility of leading the students of the school to unique paths and the school’s legacy to glory. The investiture ceremony for the academic year 2023-24 was held in the Amphitheatre on 4thMay,2023. The scale of the ceremony was in accordance with the decreed protocol. The Principal, Ms. Seema Hanvey administered the oath of office unto the newly elected Student Council. The Student Cabinet pledged to take the responsibilities with diligence and best of their ability. The office bearers were congratulated by our School Director, Mr. C. Hanvey. In his inspiring address he explained to them, the responsibility that their positions hold. The Investiture Ceremony stirred feelings of pride when the young leaders were invested with the Badges and Sash of their positions as School Captains, House Prefects and Class Representatives before their Parents, Guardians and the school fraternity for the upcoming year. 7 The storytelling competition (English) was conducted by the students of Grade 3 - 5 on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. The theme was Communication. The judges of the storytelling competition were Ms. Jaya Aggarwal, Ms. Chinky Layal and Ms. Mamta Nayal. The competition was conducted by Tavishi Srikunj of Class 4A. 1. 8 10th May, 2023, was “A Red-letter day” for our School. On this Day, ‘The English Storytelling Competition’ was conducted by the English Department. The students of Grade 6 - 8 participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. There were eight participants, who narrated their stories, without hesitation. The Participants selected were enthusiasts, who participated to inculcate the art of public speaking. It was a delight to watch students transcending their boundaries, getting out of their comfort zone and having an experience that was valuable for their forthcoming endeavours. 10 The Senior Inter-House Story-telling Competition was held on the 11th May,23 at the school amphitheatre. The participants were: Two participants from each house narrated their self-composed stories. The performance of the story-tellers was really worth appreciation as they sprinkled dramatisation to create the ambiance and captivate the audience. The Jury members: o Mr. Digvijay Rana o Mr. Rohit Bangwal o Ms. Upasana They had a tough time judging them and marking because all the participants performed to their best. Confident and strong anchoring of Aryan Khera (11th D) and Lovanya (12th B) smoothened the sailing of the Senior Inter-House Story-telling Competition. Their informative anecdotes on Story-telling filled the interludes of the competition and kept the audience entertained. Finally, the Jury Members declared the result. She appreciated the efforts of the students and urged them to come forward and participate in these kinds of Literary Activities as it would not only sharpen their speaking skills but also their creative instincts. The School Director Mr. C Hanvey, also appreciated the students and applauded their achievement. Finally, the combined efforts of the teachers of the English Department – preparing and judging the students’ along with the sincere efforts of the story-tellers’, the anchors’ and as ever most important the diligent listeners’, bore fruit and the competition went off well. 13 The Math Olympiad was conducted on 12 May 2023 for students of Grades 4 - 9. The Teachers in Charge of the Olympiad were Mr. Shubham Kapoor and Ms. Mamta Nayal. 14 DGS & Mindler, India's leading Career Counsellors have organized a Workshop for a successful and bright career for students. They guided us to take up Psychometric Assessment of each student. 16 It was a pleasant morning on Friday, 12 May 23, and students of Grade LKG - 2 were taken to The Dehradun Zoo at Malsi, where they got a chance to see many different kinds of birds and animals. They visited the Aquarium, Cactus Garden, Snake House and saw many animals like the Leopard, Ostrich, Tortoise, Crocodile and they played in the park, had a sumptuous lunch and learnt a lot about birds and animals. They had fun with their fellow learners. It was a wonderful experience for them which they will remember for days to come. 21 The Grade 11 & 12 student council members went to DIS for the inspirational program "Times Square" organised by Times of India in association with Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, on 12th May 2023. It was an initiative that consisted of experience sharing sessions covering important aspects of life- a positive outlook, spirituality, creative use of emotions and persistence for young minds. It also had an interactive Q and A round at the end. Three eminent speakers addressed the young audience: 1. Richa Anirudh, a Journalist. 2. Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati, a Spiritual Leader. 3. Dr. Vijay Dashmana, chancellor of Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun. This engagement was meant to encourage the leadership and community involvement quotient of our students. 22 On the 13th May 2023, Doon Global School participated in an “Art competition” which was conducted by Indian Public School, Vikas Nagar, Dehradun. This event was organized and managed by Indian Public School. There were 20+ schools who had participated in this competition. The competition was held in 3 Batches where Batch A was for classes 6th to 8th , Batch B: 8 th to 10th and Batch C: 11th to 12th . The themes of this painting competition were different for all the categories. For Batch A: - Save Water, Batch B: - Save The Girl Child & Batch C: - Portrait - respectively. We appreciate the efforts taken by the organising committee to provide a platform for our students to showcase their talent and passion. Although the competition was a platform for friendly competition, we believe that every participant is a winner. The courage and confidence it takes to share your artistic expression with others is a testament to your talent and passion for the arts. 23 On the 14th May 2023, Doon Global School participated in “ITI Natya – 2 nd Edition” Inter School Theatre Competition at Hari Singh Auditorium, FRI, Dehradun. This event was organised and managed by Valley of Words & Young Indians. There are 10 schools who participated in this particular competition. The theme of this competition was HUM (Universal sense of oneness.) The Doon Global School performed “Together We Can”. 26 An Assembly on Communication was conducted by the students of Grade 3-5 on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. The Assembly was conducted by Divya Durga of Class 5A. 1. The thought of the day was shared by Vats Tiwari of Class 3A and Akriti of class 3B. 2. A speech on Communication was given by Raghav of Class 4 B. 3. A Quiz was presented by Anivesh of Class 4A. 4. Aranya, Chhayank of Grade 4 and Antakshri of Grade 5 shared information about Mobile, TV and Telephone via Play cards. 5. A melodious song was sung by Vedant, Vihaan, Ansh and Apoorva of Class 5A. 6. 28 AUTISM AWARENESS (ACCEPTING DIFFERENCES) 18th May 2023, Thursday The Latika Roy foundation is a voluntary organisation in India working with children and adults who have developmental and other disabilities. They visited Doon Global School with their specially abled children to spread awareness about Autism. The children of Grades 4 & 5 interacted with them and spent quality time with them painting, playing football or just simply walking with them. 33 The Sahodaya Interschool Jr. English Debate Competition was organised on 9 th May, 2023 in The Altus School. The topic was– “Promotion under R.T.E. is really helpful to children” In all there were 24 Schools. From our school the students of Class 8A – Shrishti Singh and Pranal Khali took part in it with great zeal and enthusiasm. The aim of organizing such competitions was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions. Points presented were well received and appreciated. Some of the points even made us think about the facts. There was so much talent in the room. 41 Doon Global School always acknowledges the achievements of the students. Like every year this year also, the students of our school performed brilliantly in the CBSE Board Examinations 2022-23. To honour and encourage these students for their future endeavours a special Felicitation Ceremony was held on 24th May ,2023 at the School amphitheatre. The function began with Saraswati Vandana by the students of Grade 10 and lighting of the lamp. Our scholars were privileged to get the cash prizes from the esteemed hands of Mr. Ranber Singh, Regional Officer CBSE, Dehradun in the presence of distinguished gathering included Mr. Lakshaya Singhal, Director Skill-Ed Globizens School - Saharanpur, Mr. Ankit Agarwal, Chairman, Doon Global School - Dehradun, Ms. Mitali Agarwal, Director Skill-Ed Balliwala Chowk, Mr. Hanvey - School Director and the Principal, Ms. Seema Hanvey. The proud parents and the guardians of all the students who have performed excellently and scored above 90 % were also present to witness this milestone of their children. The best outgoing student, Ankita Bhandari of Grade 12, 2022-23 batch, added one more feather by scoring highest i.e., 98% in all schools of Pachwadoon.
