WOMEN STUN HAMMERS IN HISTORIC WIN

Birthday girl Lucy Quinn stepped off the bench to score a crucial
second goal as Spurs Women beat West Ham 2-0 in front of nearly

Quinn drilled in to give us breathing space after the hosts had
squandered a number of second-half opportunities to get back
into the game, with centre-back Hannah Godfrey putting in a
Player of the Match display to keep the Hammers at bay.

Striker Rianna Dean earlier scored a superb header on what was
her first start of the season, setting us on our way to our first-ever
away victory in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Bavarian-born Muller has been a stalwart for club and country for over a decade, winning a huge
array of trophies for Bayern and Germany during that time. He’s also established himself as the
man for the big occasion, demonstrating an uncanny knack for scoring vital goals in big games.
He came through the ranks at Bayern and was given his debut by Louis van Gaal in 2008, quickly
establishing himself as a first-team regular. He’s since won the Bundesliga on eight occasions,
as well as the German Cup five times and the Champions League in 2013. At international level
he scored five goals at the 2010 World Cup as Germany finished third, before scoring another
five at the 2014 tournament as Die Mannschaft lifted the trophy. Muller is comfortable in an
array of positions along the forward line, and is always liable to pop up in front of goal.

MATCH GALLERY

Our most recent meeting with Bayern
Munich came during the summer when we
faced each other in the final of the pre-
season tournament, the Audi Cup, hosted
by the German club.

In the semi-finals, we beat Real Madrid 1-0
thanks to a Harry Kane goal, while Bayern
thumped Galatasaray 6-1 to set up the final
clash.

The trophy was decided in a penalty shoot-
out after a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes and Paulo
Gazzaniga was the hero of the hour, saving
spot-kicks from David Alaba and Jerome
Boateng.

COLOURS
TTRrue ColoursUE We all have our favourites when it comes
to past Spurs kits and, sometimes, they
can evoke memories of specific games,
moments and the players who wore them.
Continuing our new series for the 2019/20
season, Billy Shaw chats to our players –
past and present – to find out what comes
into their minds when they look back at
a selection of our shirts from seasons
gone by. Tonight, we speak to Harry Kane,
who has famously come up through our
Academy to establish himself as an elite-

level striker for Club and country…

SPURS AWAY KIT,
2009/10
“I want to say this kit reminds me of Jermain
Defoe,” said Harry. “I remember him scoring a hat-
trick away at Hull wearing this kit. It was quite early
in the season as I recall and JD was in great form.

“He must have scored a couple of goals early on
but I remember his hat-trick goal right at the end
– a real banger!

“I think it was Aaron Lennon who laid it off to him
and he put it in from about 20 yards.”

We’d travelled to the KC Stadium off the back
of an excellent 2-1 opening-day home win over
Liverpool and, as Harry alluded to, it was very much
the Defoe show as we made it two from two with a
5-1 thrashing of the Tigers.

After a neat turn and shot from the England
international, central midfielder Wilson Palacios
scored his first goal in English football. Hull pulled
one back through Stephen Hunt’s free-kick, but
Defoe doubled his tally on the stroke of half-time
to put us back in firm control.

Robbie Keane got in on the act in the second
period before, exactly as Harry described, JD
finished off his treble in style in stoppage time,
crashing a shot home from outside the box.
