@ DESIGN DAY /17

The opening of our new Pop-Up studio in Parnell in collaboration with
Harrows contract furniture proved to be an excellent venue for this
years Design Day event. Our offering on the day included premium
Lewis Road Creamery Ice Creams and liqueurs, NZ Rose Wine, barista
coffee and Canapes. That was all capped off with Brothers Beer
hosting a craft beer tasting event in the evening. Guests were treated
to a sneak peak of some of the new designs our product development
team have been working on in The VidaSpace Workshop exhibition.
We made many new friends and reconnected with some old ones: for
all those who made it, it was truely good to see you.

OUR WORLD OF WALLS

THE VIDA BOOK HAS BEEN A KEY PART OF VIDASPACE SINCE IT’S INCEPTION
COMING UP TWO YEARS AGO. IN THAT TIME IT HAS BOTH GROWN IN SIZE AND
SCOPE, AND NOW IT IS EVOLVING IN APPEARANCE.
We constantly strive to improve this publication to make it the industry’s most
inspirational designer wall cladding brochure. We welcome feedback on what
you would like to see included on how you would like to see it laid out. We have
implemented some changes with this edition, based on feedback from designers
who frequently use this resource.

We love helping architects and designers find the right solution
to their projects, so we’ve decided to include two key questions
that frequently arise with a response so everyone can benefit
from it.

Q. Are your wood products genuine wood? FOCUS QUESTIONS FROM DESIGNERS

A. Absolutely. So much so, we recently heard back from an
installer that our rustic reclaimed Rodeo Cladding had a
bullet lodged in it! Being reclaimed from derelict old barns in
the U.S. and Canada, it no doubt had been the recipient of
some target practice or some rodent eradication by a budding
young redneck!
Our wood products cover a wide range of genuine reclaimed
timbers from North America and Europe. The more contemporary
European Spruce hails from Lappland in Northern Sweden
and the prefinished European Oak comes from FSC® approved
sustainable forests across Europe, and manufactured in
leading European factories.

Q. What fire ratings do the wood products meet?

A. All our wood products meet a generic Group 3 rating under
the NZBC that stipulates a minimum of 9mm thick and 400
kg/m³ density.
Tip: The application of an intumescent coating enables these
products to achieve a Group 1s rating. The intumescent coating
we recommend is Fireshield IFR which has a superior finish to
other products on the market. It is distributed nationwide by
Resene and a network of approved applicators offer off-site or
on-site application.
