PUREPLANK PUREPLANK FSC® CERTIFIED OAK WALL CLADDING

These pre-finished, FSC® certified, 14mm engineered planks utilize a click system and triple
layered construction involving two layers of softwood with a European oak lamella. From a
European mill established since 1973, they now have an annual production capability of
6,000,000m2. This huge capacity, combined with their insistence on maintaining in-house
control of all aspects from the forest right through to the packing room floor and highly
sophisticated quality control programmes, ensures consistent deliveries of excellent quality
and makes the range perfect for the largest of projects.

PurePlank offers lacquered and oiled finishes within the range. We recommend a further coat
of finish after installation for oiled boards. All carry a 20-year residential (5 year commercial)
warranty.

An innovative metal clip system is available for fast and easy installation on vertical surfaces.

Conditions for fitting, PurePlank on walls should be between 45% - 60% humidity and a temperature of between 18°C and PUREPLANK FSC® CERTIFIED OAK WALL CLADDING
24°C, and packs should be acclimatised for around 48 hours. The walls to be clad should not deviate from true by more than
2mm over 2 metres.

Apply wood or construction glue to the structural timbers to the height of one board. Lay the first board, with the tongue
removed, to the glued grid and fix it from the above with the clips. Fit the mounting clip into the protruding groove, then screw
it to each timber with a wood screw. Connect the subsequent boards together using the locks, knocking them home.

GRADING CRITERIA MAKING THE GRADE

IN THESE DAYS OF INTERNATIONAL LEGISLATION, THERE IS NO SINGLE, DEFINITIVE FRAMEWORK THAT
CAN BE USED AS AN INTERNATIONAL STANDARD FOR TIMBER GRADES.

The rules and standards on timber grading differ from country to country, and even from species to species. This is understandably
confusing for our customers. Oak, however, is by far our most popular species so, in order to show you a typical spread of grain
formation and the properties for each grading description, we have chosen this species as an example of what to expect.

PRIME

Typically, prime grade has few, if any knots, and these will
be of minimal size. There will also be a minimal amount of
sapwood defects and filler, if any at all. Where filler is used its
colour is carefully selected to complement the wood rather
than to match it exactly, and the colour of the filler may vary
from batch to batch. There will be a relatively small amount
of colour variation in the timber itself.

SELECT

Typically, select grade will have a mix of almost prime boards
with other planks which have more knots. Slightly larger knots
are allowed in this grade. Heartwood and colour variation in
the timber should be expected and there may be some checks
(cracks across the growth ring), sapwood and filler. The colour
of the filler is carefully selected to complement the wood rather
than to match it exactly and it may vary from batch to batch.

At VidaSpace we deal with a number of mills who work to varying parameters, so we have shown what is likely to be the “worst GRADING CRITERIA
case” in terms of knot size; many individual planks will fall well within this. But please do remember, since they are usually
selected by eye, there is always scope for an occasional board to fall outside of these parameters. Part of the beauty of timber is 121
that each and every plank is unique, so these parameters should be taken simply as an indication, given in good faith and to the
best of our knowledge.
Please be aware that VidaSpace cannot accept rejection of an entire project on the basis of a small number of boards. We strongly
advise that our projects should only be fitted by a competent installer who will, as a matter of course, remove any defects within
the normal cutting allowance. We cannot accept rejection of any project once it has been laid.

CHARACTER/ CLASSIC

Known as either character or classic grade, typically this
allows a wider range of colour variation. Knots are larger and
you should expect checks (cracks across the growth ring)
and possibly some end shake (cracks between the rings).
Filler will be used, the colour of which is carefully selected to
complement the wood rather than to match it exactly, and it
may vary from batch to batch.

NATURAL/ RUSTIC

Known as either natural or rustic grade this allows a virtually
limitless size and number of knots. Heartwood will be used,
there will be colour variation, sapwood and filler; you should
also expect checks (cracks across the growth ring) and possibly
some end shake (cracks between the rings). The colour of the
filler is carefully selected to complement the wood rather than
to match it exactly and it may vary from batch to batch.
