ABOUT US

Universiti Kuala Lumpur

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) is Malaysia’s leading private entrepreneurial university in Higher Technical and Vocational
Education and Training (HTVET). It was established on 20 August 2002 and is wholly-owned by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA),
an agency under the Ministry of Rural Development.
Rated as a Tier-5 “Very Competitive” by the Ministry of Higher Education, Universiti Kuala Lumpur is the biggest ‘Government
Linked University’ or GLU in the country in terms of enrolment with over 21, 000 students.
The university’s concept of ‘One Institute, One Specialisation’ UniKL at present has 12 campuses strategically located all over
Peninsular Malaysia, with its Chancellery situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. These 12 campuses are equipped with the
state-of-the-art facilities emphasising on applied and experiential learning reinforced by innovative research and global
linkages with industries.

Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI)

Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute traces its origin to the year 1992. It was then known as TUAS Polytech, a
technical college operating under the MARA higher education division.
As a result of a smart partnership between the Malaysian and the British governments, in 1993 TUAS Polytech was rebranded
as British Malaysian Institute (BMI). The new institute offers UK Higher National Diploma (HND) qualification specialising in
the fields of Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication and Medical Electronics Engineering. BMI provides an alternative
pathway for Bumiputera students to continue their tertiary education in the UK universities.
In 2003, BMI became one of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) founding institutes. Under UniKL, BMI (now known as UniKL
British Malaysian Institute or UniKL BMI) continues to provide higher technical education specialising in Engineering and
Engineering Technology focusing in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication and Medical Electronics.
UniKL BMI offers academic programs from Diploma, Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. certified by Malaysian Qualification Agency
(MQA), Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC)
and Engineering Technology Accreditation
Council (ETAC).

produce the holistic Huffaz Professional. Huffaz Professional UniKL Ulul Albab programme provides a venue for those who
have already memorized partly or the whole 30 juz’ of al-Quran to maintain and continue their memorizing while pursuing
the academic programmes of their choice. In addition, Sijil Tahfiz Malaysia (STM) is offered as an added value for UniKL
Students.

These students will attend an additional 10 hours per week of learning to help them with the Quranic memorization process

facilitated by a qualified tahfiz instructor. Those who have completed 30 juz’ memorization are qualified to sit for the Sijil

Tahfiz Malaysia (STM) commissioned by Darul Quran JAKIM.
