FOREWORD
Another Expectation Met
A new season of celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria through the miniature art fair
organized by the collaboration of Ogirikan and Iwalewa galleries has come again with greater
expectations. Looking back at the last two years, the Pandemic has impacted the Lagos art scene such
that new possibilities have emerged. The transitioning to virtual space has, in a sense, brought about
increased participation at events. In this new format, this fair promises more diverse participation of
both participating artists and their audiences. The bringing together of established and upcoming
artists provides a plethora of choices for the ardent collector. The miniature pieces are affordable and,
therefore, easy to acquire. I am excited at the continued synergy of both galleries- the sustainability of
this initiative lies in their innovative spirit. This third presentation at the fair will bring about new
engagements and connections, and our prayer is that it will be more economically gratifying than the
previous episodes. I encourage you all to acquire one or two pieces to beautify your space and life.

ABIOLA OLADOTUN
ABIOLA OLADOTUN was born in 1988. He is from Oyo State, Nigeria. As a young
boy, he enjoyed drawing although it was more like scribbling at the time. He hid
this from his parents especially when he had to do house chores. His mother
later noticed his devotion to art when she paid more attention to his
commitment to it. She then encouraged him to pursue his dream. When
Abiola's parents moved to Lagos, it was the art he saw around him that further
inspired him to develop himself. He had his art training at the University of
Lagos, Nigeria where he graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.
Abiola's creative repertoire as a full-time studio artist spans various aspects of
visual art. His style is highly expressionistic. He has also participated in major art
shows like Art x Lagos, ArtHouse Auction, Maiden edition Miniature Art Fair
Lagos, Signature and Sogal Auction.
Abiola says that "In a world surrounded by beauty and chaos my dream is to be
part of the former, lost in time and space, where I can create and express my
world of beauty without boundaries."

ABISOLA GBADAMOSI
ABISOLA KUBURAT GBADAMOSI is a narrative expressionist and nature lover
originally from Ibadan, Oyo state but grew up in Lagos and London. Abisola
started experimenting with different mediums from an early age. Her ability to
create stem from life experiences and lessons, which she now expresses
through her art in hopes to create a cathartic experience for her audience.
After her first exhibition in London at the brick Lane gallery 2016, Abisola made
an active decision to be an Art Teaching Assistant at her alma mater, British
International school. She shared her truth, her past, and her creative process, in
hopes to give the kids a piece of what her teacher gave her back in 2008. By
doing so, Abisola finally understood the quote by Pablo Picasso, “Every child is
an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist when we grow up.” It was in that
moment she knew what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. To create art
that people could relate to, art that people could inspire, art that would make
people feel that same euphoria she felt when she was a little girl.

departures from shared visual norms. He uses patterns, symbols
and motives taken from calabash decorations, textiles,
embroidery, pottery and traditional carvings and integrates them
into compositions that go beyond the two-dimensionality of
Yoruba tradition.

DEMILADE OTAYEMI
DEMILADE OTAYEMI (B. 1993) is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and
works in Lagos, Nigeria. Demilade's work addresses social issues shaped
by culture, religion, politics and nature. His figurative works are
characterized by his evolving expressionistic technique that places the
expression and emotions of his subjects together in contrasting effect,
hence proving their status as social beings.
Demilade's works are heavily influenced by the social consciousness in his JOYOUS SURRENDER
immediate environment which is in direct contrast to his own social life. Graphite on Paper
With his works primarily in oil on canvas, He uses colours that induce a 38 x 25 cm (15 x 10 in)
controlled emotion, these colours are more relaxed and sometimes 2016
seems to show the subject's mood against a backdrop of social
acceptance, which has resonance in his own life. He creates amorphous
portraits that exude a mixture of ideals, visual curiosities with transient
and innate characters; anonymous faces withholding and dispersing
information at the same time. His paintings show the use of a palette
knife as well as a paintbrush. This causes the characters to have some
blurred details and sharp edges to them, which essentially evokes an
emotion on its own.
Demilade is also a graphic designer who has created stunning visual
identity and system design for several brands across Nigeria and beyond.
