Mayor is a representative for young people. There are elections at schools in the area and young
people vote for their favourite candidate.

young people, aged between 11 and 19, voted in the Lambeth Youth Mayor elections.
Candidates for the job of Youth Mayor write a manifesto. They describe what they want to do for
the area and how they’re going to spend their budget. They also record a short video clip. Some
candidates use songs, poems or jokes in their video clips. Other candidates are very serious.
David wrote a rap about Lambeth for his video. David won the election and now he has got a
budget of £25,000 to spend on the community in Lambeth. There are some problems in this area
with crime and poverty, but David has got lots of ideas. He wants to improve school exam results
and he wants to provide more social and physical activities for young people in Lambeth.

on the school bus at half past seven, so I can't have
breakfast at home. I have a bagel, some cheese and
orange juice in the school canteen. On Saturdays and
Sundays, I have a big breakfast with my family. I eat
pancakes, honey, cheese, bread with jam and drink
milk. I eat 3 pancakes at breakfast because I like them
a lot. I have eight lessons at school every day. When I
arrive home at quarter past four, I am always hungry,
so I eat a sandwich and drink milk. I really like drinking

Hello! I’m Mark. Everybody in my family likes a different season. My favourite one is spring because
it’s not very hot or cold. The nature is fabulous then. Everywhere is greener and there are lots of
beautiful flowers. I feel really energetic and happy but I don’t like hot or freezing days at all.
I’m very tired and sleepy on these days and I don’t want to do anything. My sister, Lucy likes the
winter best because she loves playing in the snow and skiing but she hates stormy weather. When
there’s lightning, she is always anxious and scared. She doesn’t want to be alone. My father, Kevin
prefers hot and sunny summer days because he likes swimming. He hates foggy weather. He is
always moody when it is grey outside. My mother, Anna likes the sun and the snow but the autumn
is her favourite because she loves the rainy weather. She feels great when she walks in the rain.
