EMOTIONS Street Photography 101:
FROM THE HIP SHOOTING FROM THE HIP

There are times when you don't want to
bother the person to get a picture. This is
when being the Hip Photographer helps.
Here's how:

1.Use a wide angle lens so you can
capture a wide area. This will allow you to
crop your photo as necessary in post
processing.
2. Use a small aperture, f16 or smaller. The
aim is to ensure the image is focused,
and this will be easier without a shallow
depth of field provided by a larger
aperture.
3. Use a high ISO of 1000 or above. This is
to counter the small aperture, so you still
retain a fast shutter speed for your photo.
4. Focus your camera on a point between
five and ten metres ahead of you. Turn
the camera to manual so the lens keeps
this focus distance.
5. Walk towards places of photographic
interest. When you see an interesting
scene turn the camera towards it and
take your photo. Avoid tilting the camera
too much, as this will mean more work in
post processing.

3.0 SUGGESTION AND IMPROVEMENT

3.1 TRAINING EVALUATION

TECHNIQUES ON
CAPTURING THE IMAGE

Every group must use the
knowledge that have been
given by trainers on how to
get the best angle, lighting

and more.

EDITING STYLE

Every group must be able
on how to edit the picture

using VSCO Apps that
consists many combination
of color and style that will

make the picture more
alive or unique.
WAYS TO APPROACH
SUBJECT/STRANGER

Every group must approach
the subject/stranger using

the right ways and good
manner because usually
people will just ignore if we
want to take their picture.
But with good manners
sometimes they will give it.

ALL WINNERS ARE BEING EVALUATED 16
BASED ON THESE REQUIREMENTS

3.2 Findings and recommendations

PRE-TRAINING

FINDING

1. Minor miscommunication issue among team members.

This occur as there is misinterpretation of ideas among team members.
Lack of communication also had cause effect toward
this training.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Team members must meet frequently in order to always notify or voice out any
important matter to each other.
All team members must increase the communication skills among team members.

17

PRE-TRAINING

FINDING

2. Budget constraints.

The training that we conducted somehow required some amount of money.
A lot of materials needed for this training yet a little amount of money we perceive
during that time.

RECOMMENDATIONS

We must wisely plan the allocation of budget.
It is okay to sacrifice our own money as it is for our good sake.

18

PRE-TRAINING

FINDING

3. Unexpected changes of venue.

A day before training is conducted the person in charge for the venue that we
choose inform us that there is no facility available in that room.

RECOMMENDATIONS

We should follow up regarding the venue earlier.
All of team member must always be prepared with other option to be as a backup
plan.

19

DURING
TRAINING

FINDING

1. Unexpected changes of venue.

As the earlier venue had to be cancelled, so we decided to choose FSK 6 05-037
as our venue.
Unfortunately, on that day there is a replacement class.
All of us had to find a new venue meanwhile the time had somehow against us.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The mistake that we made is we just simply choose the venue without making any
reservation.
The venue is important criterion to make sure the training program is conducted
according to the plan.

20

DURING
TRAINING

FINDING

2. Lack of commitments among trainees.

During Activity 1: Shine your talent slot, the trainee be ask to approach a stranger
in order to capture their image. As a result, there are some trainees that did not
give commitment and only the same person step forward to do it.

RECOMMENDATIONS

To increase the commitment among the trainees in the future, facilitator need to
always remind the trainees that they will be evaluated by the trainers during the
training program on each activity.

21

DURING
TRAINING

FINDING

3. Time constraints.

The training start half an hour late from the schedule because we wait for our
V.I.P where there maybe some miscommunication occur between V.I.P and our
team.
The training had to start few minutes lates, which somehow cause us to cut some of
the part include in our training.

RECOMMENDATIONS

We as organizer must keep follow up with the timing of the event if there are V.I.P
needed for opening ceremony. Sometime V.I.P may not be clear with our tentative,
regarding the time that they should come.
We must more creative in order to adapth with the situation so that whatever things or
issues occur can be solve in a good ways.

22

POST-TRAINING

FINDING

1. Conduct post mortem after training program.

After the training program has ended, it is advisable for the team
members of the training program to conduct a post-mortem regarding
the training program.

RECOMMENDATIONS

It somehow will help to identify weaknesses of training that had been conducted.
Explore and discuss the improvement that can be made for future
training purpose.
