FOREWARD

YANG AMAT BERHORMAT DATUK ONN HAFIZ GHAZI
MENTERI BESAR JOHOR

Praise be to Allah SWT. It is only by His grace and blessings that we can take part in the 5th Digitalised International Invention, Innovation, and
Design (DIIID) Competition Johor 2022.
The development of skills gained through competitions like DIIID Johor 2022 should empower us with knowledge and provide us with a better
perspective on the significance of design and innovations in our lives. It is also crucial that ideas and innovations provide real solutions to
problems that affect both communities and industries, rather than only serving as showpieces.
The theme for DIIID 2022 "Promoting Sustainability through Innovation" ties in with the advancement of the fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0)
through digitalisation as well as with increased efforts on the part of Johor to establish itself as a premier tech investment and start-up cluster in
Malaysia.
The recent Covid-19 may have adversely impacted the state of Johor when it had to close its doors to its neighbours. However, with life returning
to normal and the acknowledgment that Johor is the Southern Gateway to Malaysia with a strong economic appeal, the idea for Johor to become
a well-known technology hub in the region is even more possible and attainable. The post-pandemic recovery plan includes digital transformation
and the use of digital technologies. It is, therefore, my hope that the ideas, creations, and innovations revealed and shared by remarkable
participants at DIIID 2022 will benefit Negeri Johor and spur positive changes in the state.
Last but not least, well done to UiTM Cawangan Johor for putting this competition together. My warmest wishes to all attendees of DIIID 2022.
Let us continue to create, innovate, and design for a better Malaysia.
Thank you.

PROFESSOR DATUK TS. DR HAJAH ROZIAH MOHD JANOR
VICE-CHANCELLOR

UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA

Bismillahirahmanirrahim.

All praises and thanks to Allah S.W.T for His blessings and for enabling our mission to organise the 5th Digitalised International Invention,
Innovation and Design (DIIID) 2022 competition.
My highest appreciation goes to Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Johor for hosting this meaningful event. Thank you for the dedication
and cooperation from the organising committee, participants, and sponsors.
Malaysia’s Prime Minister YAB Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob in the opening ceremony of the Malaysian Innovation Conference in August
2022 stated that the exploration of new ideas and knowledge from research results promises quality innovations that further drive socioeconomic
development and the well-being of Keluarga Malaysia.
According to the latest known data in 2018, 80 percent of researchers in Malaysia are in higher education institutions. Additionally, our UiTM
Expert database displays the current figure of 9001 active academicians and more than 10,500 researchers in UiTM alone. These figures
insinuate that there is a substantial number of brilliant and dedicated people who have the passion and capability to embark on research, create,
and innovate. I, therefore, truly believe that the 5th Digitalised International Invention, Innovation, and Design (DIIID) 2022 competition organised
by UiTM Cawangan Johor can serve as a platform for everyone to share and demonstrate new ideas, commercialise products, besides creating
impactful future collaborations between the university, industries, and the society at large.
Congratulations to UiTM Cawangan Johor for successfully adding another milestone to UiTM’s long list of achievements. Without a doubt, where
there’s a will, there’s a way.
Best of luck to all the participants and may your time spent at DIIID 2022 be fruitful and treasured to the fullest.
Thank you.

YBHG. PROF. MADYA DR. SAUNAH ZAINON
RECTOR

UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA (UiTM) CAWANGAN JOHOR

I am delighted to greet all of you to the 5th Digitalized International Invention, Innovation, and Design (DIIID) Competition, Universiti Teknologi
MARA (UiTM), Cawangan, Johor 2022. I am confident that this is the appropriate platform for fostering ideas of innovation and invention among
participants from schools as well as public and private higher education institutions, both from within and outside the country.

Competition on the internet is now a common occurrence, and UiTM Cawangan Johor is the first public university to manage innovation and
invention competitions in a form of digitalization. We can't deny the event's maturity, given that it's the fifth time around and the number of
participants keeps growing year after year.

Nevertheless, a successful event cannot be achieved without the outstanding efforts from all parties involved. Therefore, I would like to express
my gratitude to the organising committee for their hard work, as well as to the exceptionally helpful judges who were chosen and who have a
wealth of experience. Everyone is a winner, therefore, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to each and every
one of you.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of UiTM Cawangan Johor, to express my gratitude once again to all of the sponsors for
the generous support they have provided.

Thank you

SECTION 1

INTRODUCTION TO THE 5th DIGITALISED INTERNATIONAL INVENTION, INNOVATION, AND DESIGN (DIIID) JOHOR 2022

1.0 INTRODUCTION
This section opens with an overview of DIID and further describes the vision, mission, theme and objectives of DIIID Johor 2022. This is followed
by collaboration made in the 5th DIIID 2022, categories competed, judging criteria and awards.

1.1 OVERVIEW OF DIGITALISED INTERNATIONAL INVENTION, INNOVATION, AND DESIGN UITM JOHOR
The organization of innovation competitions began in 2012, involving all faculties and branch campuses to screen for participation in innovation
competitions at the university level. In the previous year, the organization of innovation competitions at the UiTM Cawangan Johor level was in
complimented with the needs of RIBU. However, starting in 2014, the Innovation Unit, BPJI&A UiTM Cawangan Johor has started to organising
the Johor innovation competition, International Invention, Innovation & Design (IIID) at the international level located at Dewan Sri Temenggong
(DST), UiTM Cawangan Johor Segamat Campus. In 2015, IIID UiTM Cawangan Johor was jointly organised with UiTM Cawangan Johor Pasir
Gudang Campus and located in Johor Bahru. The response received at IIID 2015 was encouraging due to the location of the event and the
effective promotional strategy In 2017, UiTM Johor once again managed to organise the event and history marked that UiTM Cawangan Johor
is the first organiser of the digital IIID competition. Later, in 2018 the name of the competition was changed to Digital IIID (DIIID) Johor 2018.
The competition continued in digital form in 2019, 2020 and 2021 for 2nd DIIID 2019, 3rd DIIID 2020 and 4th DIIID 2021, respectively. The
overwhelming response from the participants boosts the confidence of the committee members to further organise this competition in 2022
entirely digital for the 5th DIIID 2022.

the plants because they can check out their plants anywhere and anytime with our built-in website. The system

is also able to water the plants automatically if the soil is too dry. Not only that, this system can be used for

many functions, such as implementing drone control in farms for security, and can be configured with a few

lines of code through "Easy Coding". RUNLINC can save a lot of time and money in implementing the system,

giving an advantage as existing systems take more time and money to develop. RUNLINC Agrotechnology

Lim Ming Dao, Tan Jia BEENIONS We love honey, bees make honey, and bees have stings. Getting stung by bees is a painful experience.
Weii Though in Malaysia, there is a special species of bees, locally known as kelulut. This species of bees can
only be found in countries with tropical and subtropical climates. They are smaller compared to honey bees,
Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan and they have no sting! In 2014, there was a big buzz on scientific findings about kelulut honey. It is rich in
(Cina) Chung Kwok minerals, and vitamins, and has ten times more antioxidants than regular honey. Kelulut Honey is not stored
(MALAYSIA) in honeycombs, they are stored using bee glue, which is commonly known as propolis. The beekeeping
business has grown tremendously over the years. However, the methods used for beekeeping are still
traditional, labor intensive, and time-consuming. Our research aims to create automation to modernize
beekeeping technology and reduce dependence on manual labor. Through our field trip and interview with a
beekeeper, we saw the opportunity to create automation in the harvesting and packaging process. This
industry has the potential to grow to RM3.03 billion in annual sales if developed. To fully realize the potential
of this industry, we believe that a streamlined automation process will be able to attract more entrepreneurs
to the otherwise labor-intensive industry. The objective of the team is to create a robotic mechanism that can

34

perform the task of harvesting the honey and packaging the end product in a seamless process. This
mechanism will increase the efficiency of honey harvesting.
