Are you even a Harry Potter fan if you never tried 'Wingardium Leviosar'? Oh, it's Wingardium LevioSA, not LevioSAR. Wouldn't it be cool if Hogwarts existed? Didn't we all wanted the magic pencil Sanju had in 'Shakalaka Boom Boom' or to have fun solving daily problems with magic like Jiya in 'Shararat'? We all grew up watching these movies and series. We all wanted magic to exist in reality. What if Hogwarts existed? What if we all had magical powers to make things work our way? Well, we would never know that. Magic may not exist in wands or objects but it exists in nature, in our dreams, and even in the people we meet. Even if we don't see it, we frequently feel it. Is it difficult to comprehend nature's magic? Flowers always welcome us with joy whenever we look at them. Even quietly observing the flowers is incredibly calming. As well, watching cute little winged guests in the skies is a sight of loveliness. The moon, the sun, and the gentle wind all miraculously relieve our heads.We can see all the magical abilities in ourselves and this cosmos when we see a rainbow! Nature features fantastic internal mechanisms. River fluidity. Stillness of a tree, chirping of birds, it feels like nature is a magician who constantly waves a wand to reveal the wonders of the world. When searching for magical places, we discover variety of actual and physical locations. Everyone has a unique concept of what makes a location magical. What is yours? Have you ever given it any thought? My introduction to a magical place was my childhood home. This is the place where I spent time as a child and which frequently comes to mind associated with intense emotions. For me, the joys and the memories are pure magic. next page ..... AVALANCHE PAGE 30 Dreams are also magical, taking us into a dimension filled with symbolism and insight. We occasionally forget our dreams when the alarm goes off in the morning and our mind races with plans for the day. "Hey, I saw you in my dream the night before!" In dreams, we often see people who have spent a lot of time with us. We even experience some disturbing nightmares concerning scenarios we fear. We think about it a lot. It still fails to provide a conclusive explanation for why people dream. What if the world we dream of is real and waking up is an illusion? If dreams are magic, we are definitely magicians! Our presence is magically enhanced by our family, friends, and new individuals we encounter. Some people simply enter a room and fill it with their positive energy. People who make you smile and are enjoyable to be around are magical! Magic isn’t strange, fanciful or only found in fairy tales, its within your grasp. AVALANCHE PAGE 31 Time flies. Yes, it is true. What does dreaming do then? Ironically, even dreaming takes us on a flight, but unlike time, it carries the dreamer too on its flight journey. Jim Rohn once said, "The good things we build end up building us." Now let's take a while to ponder upon the "build" which he meant. People build things physically in the world. An example of good things built in the world will be the NGOs that serve selflessly, the Charitable Trusts which provide sublime services to cater to the needy, and so on. But can good things be built only physically? Interesting questions as they seem, their answers too are interesting. It all starts with a dream. Dreaming is seldom instigated with the attributes of laziness and aimlessness in today's world as people say, "Dreaming won't make things happen, but a working hand will." Take an example of any machine in our day-to-day lives. It works, or rather take an example of a man who just works hard…! Is that hard work alone sufficient for the man to be happy and achieve satisfaction? Or do you think the man who works hard but with the urge of a dream will achieve happiness and satisfaction? The answer need not be discussed. Dreams are the primordial steps on the part of happiness. The dream need not be necessarily big and hard to achieve. Rather, it can be something small or simple. Like dreaming to just live another day, and you lived! But until the dream is achieved, we dwell in the portals of "Hope." Hoping that we will achieve the dream. Guess what? There isn't a single human on this planet who can live happily without hoping, unless you are a "Stithaprajna". Hence we just derive hopes from dreams, which is a quintessential part of human life! Now what else do you think is important to lead a life? Is hoping just enough? No, the next important thing is working hard to achieve the dream. next page...... IF TIME FLIES, WHAT DOES DREAMING DO?
AVALANCHE PAGE 32 Dreaming, as I said, gives wings to dreamers, but it doesn't have the capacity to take flight, and hence the wings are functionless. To add its functionality and achieve the power of flight, hard work has to be done, or else every dreamer in the world would be on his 7th heaven. Now, you started working hard with the hope to achieve your dream. You're almost there, but you will then encounter "fear." Just like the birds who are meant to fly, fear on their first flight, the dreamer too will face fear. Now how do we have to tackle it? What if we fail? Will the hope still linger on? Or fade into the clutches of fear? That's a spine-chilling thought. Now, how to overcome it? It's simple. As mentioned above, the thought of how birds fear their first flight and yet take the flight and fly high. Their driving force is nothing except the leap of faith. Yes, the final ingredient is "Faith"! No wonder it can move mountains, but it will also give a dreamer the confidence and mental strength that will kill the fear of failure and empower wings of dreams with the fuel of hard work. Hence, time flies, but a dream has the power to shape the path or trajectory of time itself and make you the person of your dreams, live a life full of happiness and satisfaction, without regrets. AVALANCHE PAGE 33 As kids growing up, we have always heard this one thing from our parents, "time flies!" It runs, it doesn't stop for anyone. They would tell this to us so that we value time, understand the importance of time, and not let it go. For all obvious reasons, as kids and even now, we find it naggy when someone says it to us. But then, we do come across situations that finally make us realize that yes, time flies by! Whether it's happy or something sad, time passes, and then it becomes a memory to look back on. "This too shall pass" is often said when going through a hard time. And when we're happy, having a nice time, we do not realize how fast it has gone. So, what's the difference between time and dreaming, we ask? Sometimes when we say "time flies," we say it in a nostalgic way, like remembering our past years, people, and situations. For example, our parents remembering our first day of school! My dad still sometimes tells me how he remembers me crying when he was dropping me off at school for the first time, and how happy he was to see me achieve one of life's milestones, but sad as well that he had to leave me there crying and sad. We reminisce about our past memories and realize how much we have come through, how fast we grew up. Feels unreal sometimes! Dreaming, on the other hand, feels really comforting, as it creates a place where we can imagine ourselves or see situations the way we want. It doesn't have any boundaries, nor does it work under the pressure of the real world. Sometimes it can be called being delusional, but that's another thing entirely. When we say, 'If time flies, what does dreaming do?' Dreaming captures our imagination and allows us to relive our memories from the past, but in a way, we want them to look like.relaxing, like a ray of hope for a brighter future. AVALANCHE PAGE 34 Dreaming helps us create goals that we would want to achieve someday. It creates an expectation to be fulfilled someday by ourselves, but in a positive way, with our own will.We go through times when we may not be able to make things work out or achieve something the way we desire. We might have missed a chance to see a place or experience something. As time passes by, we may tend to let it go, but sometimes those thoughts hit us back, and we feel sad with a sense of regret. In these moments, we find comfort in imagining or dreaming about it differently, in a way where it did work out for us. This gives us a feeling of happiness and contentment. Time flies by in the real world, the practical world. And when we are relaxed, sleeping in peace, having a good dream, we are in the dream world, and it feels surreal, as if everything we want comes true. Not only while sleeping but dreaming, in general, makes us feel as if everything is possible! It gives us a push, a hope for the future, something to look forward to after the time that has passed behind us. When we ask kids about what they dream of, the responses are always so pure to hear. The same goes for adults; it's sometimes funny, happy, and makes them forget about the pressure of the real world, problems, and responsibilities. To conclude, time is something that passes by; it doesn't stop, but stays as a memory. Sometimes it's good, sometimes harsh. AVALANCHE PAGE 36 On 15th August 2022, the NSS Unit of Terna Engineering College, Nerul, along with the Cultural Committee, organized the 75th Amrut Mohotsav to celebrate Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event began with flag hoisting by the principal, followed by the singing of the national anthem and patriotic songs performed by the volunteers. The participants showcased their talents through solo singing and speeches that brought awareness to the attendees. The event was filled with energy and captured many memorial photos, highlighting the efforts and enthusiasm of the students, faculty, and staff. The Amrut Mohotsav concluded with a sense of honor and heightened nationalism among the attendees. The event left a heartwarming impact and was considered a unique and memorable experience for everyone involved. INDEPENDENCE DAY
AVALANCHE PAGE 37 REPUBLIC DAY Republic Day is a day which we celebrate reminiscing about the moment when the Indian constitution came into existence, which just not only gives us and our country the direction to function but our rights as humans in this country as well. This event was organised by the cultural committee of Terna Engineering college with all heart and soul in collaboration with NSS this day started off with the ceremonial flag hosted by our honourable principal followed by the speech by the principal addressing the values and ideology with the history of the nation. Later that morning, staff and students were led to the seminar hall where the cultural committee arranged a short event to celebrate and honour the day. The event started off with an introduction by the anchor followed by the wonderful documentary displaying the might of India which led us to the poem recitation by the NSS team showing and expressing their patriotism through words and inspiring the young generation present in the hall, inspired by the thoughts came along two volunteers amongst the group they expressed their emotions through a poem and a speech giving essence to the event followed by the thank you note. Thus, the event came to an end but a day to remember the values the students and faculty expressed by words and by heart.

Dholida 2k22 was the first cultural event of the year 2022 and it was proved to be memorable one. Each and every member of the cultural committee showed great enthusiasm in every work area. The creative team helped in setting up the reception desk ,They also designed a beautiful selfie wall for the event day ,which was a great source of attraction , Patakas were also looking very attractive. The executive and the PR team did a great work by spreading the event details to each and every student. Sponsorship team also brought 4-5 sponsors who were ready to invest in our event. Entries started at 6:00 pm sharp with students getting their passes checked and also refreshments were distributed during the entry time. Slowly the parking area started filling up with students dressed .The crowd was excited and as soon as the DJ played Garba beats, students couldn’t control their feet and they started their form of Garba at the venue. Faculty addressed the council and did the Aarti. Students showed their enthusiasm at a very high level and posted stories with hashtag #Dholida2k22. This Garba was unique for all and was witnessed first time in such a way by Terna. Everybody was dancing to their utmost level and lip synced to the songs DJ played. Prizes were also kept to reward the best of them. Best costume male and female was won by Pratik and Sasha. The event wrapped up at 9 pm. The college has a dedicated sports complex with a football turf, a badminton court, and other indoor facilities. The sports program is coordinated by a committee of faculty members and students. The committee organizes the annual sports week, which features a variety of events, including cricket, volleyball, kabaddi, throwball, table tennis, carrom, and chess. The student council plays a pivotal role in selecting capable individuals for the positions of sports secretary and deputy sports secretary. Icon Players and Team Selection: To promote healthy competition within the college, an icon player is chosen from each department. These talented individuals are tasked with handpicking the best players from their respective departments to form teams for intra and inter-sports events. This system not only fosters team spirit but also encourages students to excel in their chosen sports. Gymkhana Policies: TEC's gymkhana policies ensure fair and equal access to sports facilities. The official TEC team enjoys regular access to the turf for a dedicated two-hour practice slot. Students not part of the official team can collect passes to utilize the turf for one hour. Smooth Event Coordination: TEC ensures efficient event coordination through the formation of student organizing and event heads committees. Inter-College Sports Participation: TEC recognizes the importance of inter-college sports competitions as a platform for students to test their mettle against competitors from other institutions. College-level individual sports teams are meticulously formed, ensuring the best players from various sports events represent the college. TEC takes care of all the expenditure related to registration, travel, accommodation, and other necessities for these official sports teams. TEC's commitment to sports is evident through its well-structured sports process and policies. Avalon Inauguration The inauguration of AVALON 2023 took place on April 4, 2022. A welcome ceremony was conducted for the Principal, Coordinators, and HODs of all departments, organized by The Avalon Secretary and Core Committee members. The event included a Lamp Lighting Ceremony, where Dr. L.K. Ragha, Principal of Terna Engineering College, and HODs from all departments participated. The program continued with an introductory speech by the Principal and a briefing session by the Secretary. Hackathon AVALON, as part of its Tech-Fest 2k23, organized its first-ever 24-hour Hackathon, which was a unique and flagship event. This event marked the beginning of selforganized hackathon competitions in Terna Engineering College. The Hackathon featured four tracks: Web or App Development, AI & ML, WEB 3.0, and Game (AR/VR), all centered around the theme of Transformers. Participants formed teams of 2 to 4 members and were encouraged to develop mobile/ web apps, explore AI & ML technologies, leverage Blockchain for transformers, and create AR/VR-based games based on specific rules and themes. AVALANCHE PAGE 45 The event was led by Mr. Aliasgar Fatakdawala and Mr. Rishav Thapilyal, Webmasters of Avalon, along with the Secretary. A team of cyber enthusiasts and coding geeks supported the event. Professor Siddharth Hariharan, a well-revered faculty member, mentored the participants as part of the reviewing team. The hackathon took place at Terna Engineering College, Nerul, and utilized the online platform Discord for communication. The entry fee was free, and participation was open to teams with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 members. Teams submitted their projects through GitHub, following specific guidelines for open-sourcing the code and providing project information in a README.md file. The use of assets was allowed, but proper credits were required for them, even if they were open-source or original work. Certain content, such as NSFW, political or religious material, hateful or violent content, code or custom assets created before the hackathon, and plagiarism, was strictly prohibited. Overall, the event aimed to provide participants with a unique experience and an opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity in the world of Transformers through different technological tracks. Prototype Prodigy In this challenge, contestants are required to demonstrate the projects that fits within one of the three categories: Hardware, Software, or Civil Engineering. The grand winner will be determined based on a thorough evaluation of two crucial aspects: i) The technical expertise demonstrated in the project ii) Its potential to bring tangible benefits and commercial value to users in a practical setting.
The Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) at Terna Engineering College has also played a pivotal role in promoting innovation and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among students. Their collaboration with Avalon for Tech-Fest 2k23 further enriched the event experience. The E-Cell provided a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their startup ideas, connect with industry experts, and receive guidance on turning their ideas into reality Together, Avalon and E-Cell have created an ecosystem that nurtures innovation, technical expertise, and entrepreneurial spirit at Terna Engineering College. Their contributions have established them as pioneers in the tech event space, setting new standards for excellence and inspiring students to push boundaries and embrace innovation.
