Introduction

To train the undergraduates to gain advanced knowledge in the interdisciplin
of Bioinformatics so that they can organize, describe, distribute, manipu
analyze the ever-increasing biological data (DNA, RNA and Proteins) b
different statistical, mathematical and computational methods. Bioinform
playing a key role in bringing all interdisciplinary fields of biosciences
medicine, biotechnology, molecular and systems biology together to f
purpose, it is required to train professionals and researchers with sound biol
computer science knowledge.

Objectives

At the end of four years BS program, the graduates should have
understanding of:

 Various aspects of biological systems.
 Different areas of computer science including programming languages.
 Existing bioinformatics tools and databases.
 Computational applications related to biological systems.
 Analysis and interpretation of biological data.

Career Opportunities

At the completion of this program, the students are expected to kn
relationship between genes and proteins and use of computer to handle b
data. Students should have a deeper insight into various tools and tec
commonly used in bioinformatics. Students should be able to ackno
diversified areas and applications like genomics, drug designing, agricult
health informatics, biotechnology, systems biology and others.

PHYSICS

DEGREES OFFERED

BS Physics
MSc Physics

MISSION STATEMENT

The aim of the department of the physics is to study
nature at its most fundamental level and to discover
and apply the general laws that govern force and
motion, matter and energy, space and time in general
to study and understand the physical properties of
matter. It studies systems ranging in size from the
smallest elementary particles to the entire universe.
Physics lies at the heart of the natural sciences. Almost
any piece of modern scientific instrumentation is based
on principles of optics, electronics, or nuclear physics
and such apparatus usually has its origin in basic work
done by physicists. Almost any scientific problem can
be approached using the ideas and methods of
physics, which is why there are many "hybrid"
disciplines such as astrophysics, biophysics, and
geophysics. The central position of physics among the
sciences means that it is an ideal starting point, not
only for physics research, but for many kinds of
scientific and engineering work. It also means that
physics is a perfect academic focus for a liberal arts
education

BACHELOR OF

PHYSICS (BS Physics)

Introduction
The undergraduate physics Program at the University of Sialkot offers a wid
of courses and encourages faculty-student interaction. The Department is
rapidly in strengthening the ongoing program by establishing state- of- the-
and qualified faculty having rich and diversified exposure of National /Inter
Universities. The opportunity to work closely with a faculty member and to
hand research experience is especially helpful in making post-graduate
decisions. Our students are strongly encouraged to broaden their scientifi
through research opportunities outside the university•. The quality and v
programs in the newly established lab are valuable in encouraging s
scientific interest. Some of the interesting phenomenon of physics have bee
below for the exposer of the students.

Objectives
The goals and objectives of the BS Physics are to provide an uplifting and n
environment that facilitates and stimulates the active, explorative of Basic lea
Physics for the students.
 Encouragement of creative thinking
 Personal and academic growth
 Development, coordination and management of national system of innov
 Production of maximum human capital, sustainable economic growth
 Improvement of life quality

Career Opportunities
Physics can fairly lay claim to be the part of modern civilization. The rea
mathematical, experimental and computer skills which will obtain dur
program will enable the students to seek for the following careers:
 Nuclear Science and Education
 Research & Development
 Software Development and Nanotechnology
 Instrumentation and Engineering
 Radiology and Meteorology
