JAMES A HALEY VA • Return to in-person Conference • This year we have returned to the medical conference room for in -person conferences. Resident and attending attendance has been great which has promoted a vigorous interactive educational experience. Hospitalist attending and IM subspecialist participation with morning report case presentations have facilitated interesting discussions with the development of important clinical pearls. Dr. Lezama’s Board Review sessions have also returned to in - person. • Subspecialty Didactics • Revamped noon conference to pre -COVID times by once again including subspecialty lectures. Lectures include the return of EKG conference with Dr. Bowerman, the development of the radiology lecture series for IM, and additional subspecialty lectures in infectious disease, cardiology, rheumatology, endocrinology, immunology, etc. • Opening of the New Bed Tower - TBD • New team rooms which are much larger and nicer! • New Cafeteria • Nicer single-patient rooms CLINICAL SITES

MOFFITT UPDATES 2022 Accomplishments: • Orientation with APPs and new senior each block for Heme to discuss scheduling and orders • Dedicated Heme orientation powerpoint • Improved involvement with Heme Fellow in terms of running the team and being available for questions • Heme B admissions to stop in January time frame • Noon conference time changing to 12:15-1:45 instead of 12 - 2 • Meal cards have started to be more available due to resident understanding of process • Dedicated coordinator, Charlotte has been wonderful! • Intern exposure with admissions during day assist hours, put in orders and writing H&P • Many new IHM attendings have overall improved IHM experience in terms of dedicated teaching time and support they have given residents • - PGY3 Moffitt Chief, Dr. Jordan Future Opportunities: • Capping day admits to allow more IHM/Heme A admission at night • IHM Hospitalist rotation • Refining heme orientation experience with APP CLINICAL SITES
63 HURRICANE IAN Ride out team stays in hospitals during storm (TEAM A). Recovery teams (TEAM B) work day before Ride out team launches and for the days after. Residents are on shift work in the hospital – with clear times off. Lessons learned: • More people are needed in Recovery Team. RESIDENT WELLNESS COMMITTEE ACCOMPLISHMENTS & GOALS Halloween Ward Team Decorations • Teams were provided with Halloween decorations and submitted pictures for entry into a “Best Halloween Decor” competition. The winning team was provided with a trophy and Bake’N Babes Cupcakes. Halloween Ward and Clinic Candy Buckets • Clinical sites were provided buckets of candy including halloween themed chocolates, gummies, and lollipops. Each ward team at the TGH, VA, and Moffitt had a bucket available to them. Thanksgiving Meals • Meals were provided to residents at TGH, VA, and Moffitt. Meals included turkey, stuffing, mac & cheese, green beans, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. Ugly Sweater Contest Winter Holiday Break Lunch • Lunch from Boston Market was provided to all wards team members and consult residents at the TGH, VA, and Moffitt.
