Forward ภาพยนตร์สารคดีมักจะถูกค่อนขอดว่าเป็น ความง่วงเกิดได้จากร่างกายเหน่ือยอ่อน
หนังที่ดูไม่บันเทิง เป็นหนังที่ดูเหมือนถ่ายท�ำกัน ตอ้ งการพกั ผอ่ น ภาพยนตรส์ ารคดไี มไ่ ดม้ สี ง่ิ ทจี่ ะ
เลน่ ๆ และทส่ี ำ� คญั ดแู ลว้ งว่ ง ซง่ึ ภาพยนตรส์ ารคดี มากระตุ้นประสาทผู้ชมอย่างเสียงระเบิดโครม
ส่วนใหญก่ เ็ ป็นแบบนจี้ รงิ ๆ คราม หรือภาพตัดเร็วฉับไว ผู้ชมภาพยนตร์
สารคดจี งึ ควรจะเตรียมเปิดประสาทตัวเองเต็มท่ี

Synopsis: It was the day of her marriage.
The bride spent the morning in her room,
dressing up and waiting for the groom to
pick her up. Her filmmaker cousin docu-
mented these last moments before she
left the room of her childhood.

Director’s Bio: Liao Jiekai is a filmmaker Director:
based in Singapore. A graduate of the Liao Jiekai
School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he
currently lectures at School of the Arts, Contact:
Singapore. He is a founding member of 6 Kovan Close, Singapore 548199

several short films, most notably Clouds
in a Shell and The Inner City, which was
selected for competition at the 2nd Asian
Berlin Hot Shots. His 2010 debut feature
length film, Red Dragonflies won the
Special Jury Prize at the Jeonju Inter-
national Film Festival and was selected
for competition at various film festivals in
Buenos Aires, Santiago, Hong Kong,
Shanghai and Tokyo. Jiekai was chosen
to participate in the Berlinale Talent
Campus 2012. In the same year, he was
conferred the Young Artist Award by the
National Arts Council of Singapore.

Synopsis: Durga is a documentary which e-mail: [email protected]
examines the practice of child marriage
that continues to occur in rural parts of
India today. Shot in Meghwalo Dhani, a
rural village off Jodhpur in India, the film
tells of the story of Durga, a 16-year-old
child bride, who is trapped in a situation
she had not bargained for. At 14, she was
married off to a man she had not met in
her life. Durga tried to find ways to escape
but due to the pressure from her com-
munity and the need to keep her father’s
honor, she is forced to keep to the mar-
riage. Through Durga’s narration, audi-
ences witness the reality of a child mar-
riage. From the dreams she harbored as
a young girl, to the helplessness and
despair she experienced during the mar-
riage, Durga lets audience into her inner
world and emotions as her marriage un-
folded before her.

Director’s Bio: Wong Jingyu holds a
Bachelor in Communication Studies (Hons)
from Nanyang Technological University,
Singapore. She graduated from film school

Synopsis: Thi and Trung live in the Director:
gorgeous, rice-terraced mountains of Tran Phuong Thao
Vietnam’s far northwest. Like many young Swann Dubus
men in this region on the main heroin route
from Laos to China, they’re addicts, and
they have HIV. Thi wants to kick his
habit. Trung just wants to die. “With or
Without Me” is an intimate, tragicomic
portrayal of two guys strung out at the
edge of the map in a Communist country
struggling with drug use, and of the wives,
family, doctors and friends trying to pull
them back from the brink.

Synopsis: A true story about two women Director:
struggling hard for their love. Soth Yun Sopheak Sao
(57) and Sem Eang (58) met during the
genocidal Khmer Rouge regime, when
coincidence led them to live in the same
mobile unit. More than two million people
died during the Khmer Rouge times. Soth
and Sem survived. Today the lesbian
couple lives in a village in Takeo province
in southern Cambodia. They have been a
long fight for respect by fellow villagers
and their family. And the fight continues
- now for the right to marry. The couple
does not have children of their own, but
have raised several nieces and nephew.

Synopsis: Yoko Sano, picture novelist and Director:
essayist, is 70 years old now. She was Kotani Tadasuke
diagnosed cancer and told her days were
numbered. Now she is cherishing her days.
Days without big adventure, days just
ordinary. Her most well-known piece “The
cat with a million lives” is published 33
years ago. The novel with the great insight
of love and life based on her view is still
popular in Japan and has penetrated each
reader. The camera captured the image
of the people who read it out and talk
about the life and death and Yoko whose
days are numbered. They are connected
only by the picture novel. The camera tried
to find a sign of Yoko’ final destination and
her existing life in Tokyo, and Beijing where
Yoko has been. This film aims to show the
life, death and love through the symbolic
picture novel.
