that passes, our ambition to drive school improvement continues

and how well they have coped with continuing adversity. It would
be remiss of me not to acknowledge the incredible families

throughout both remote and on-site learning. Thankfully we
have been able to work through the end of the year with limited

in Lake Bolac.
We were grateful to be able to host the Year 12 and Year 6

timely to reflect back on their time at Lake Bolac College and their
educational journey. All of our students have approached this year
with ambition and drive, for that we are so proud of them. We
wish the graduating Year 12 students all the best for their future
studies and employment.

Year 11 – 12
Year 11-12 Camp
Year 11 and 12 students headed off to Anglesea early in Term
2 for their annual camp. With Mrs Thom at the wheel and Mr
Healey by her side doing some backseat driving, students and
staff took in the sights of the Great Ocean Road and had some
downtime exploring Anglesea. Unfortunately, a snap lockdown
was called and the camp had to be cut short. Luckily, we were
able to squeeze in some activities with highlights being the
stand up paddle boarding and a visit to Lorne’s Livewire Park.
VCAL PDS Projects
Throughout the year, many students had opportunities to
showcase their hidden talents in their VCAL work in their
Personal Development Skills (PDS) class. Even with the
interruptions of Remote Learning, every continued to work
hard and produce many high quality products.
In the Woodwork room, students created a range of products from
chopping boards to cheese platters to tables and even basketball
backboards! During the project construction stage, students were
given the opportunity and freedoms to explore their own ideas and
be as creative as they wished. Mrs McDougall was so proud of
their creativity and problem solving skills and felt so rewarded as
their teacher to see the final products.
Coffee Machine
After honing skills with the new coffee machine, it was discovered
it needed a home that would still enable it to be moved around
the school. Students got to work designing and creating a
portable coffee machine cart. Working with a range of materials,
students constructed a rustic cart that can be moved freely
around the school. Impressively, recycled pallets and fence posts
were used to make the project sustainable and add to the rustic
feel. Students had to problem solve a way to ensure the coffee
machine didn’t bounce off the top when being moved around the
school, working as a team in experimenting different ideas to
ensure the final design was a success.
In the Kitchen
In the Kitchen, students cooked a range of cuisines; from scones
and biscuits to tacos and pasta. Working as team in the kitchen
was a key factor in a successful dish and what amazing results
students produced.
Ballarat Tech School Psychology Visit
Students in VCE Psychology had a hands-on experience learning
about the brain and all the functions of the Central Nervous
System with a workshop at the Ballarat Tech School.
