FOR TWO DECADES, LZF HAS BEEN SHINNING ITS LIGHT ACROSS THE GLOBE

Some of the world’s greatest creative discoveries have been acts of pure serendipity;
gifts from the muse bestowed with absolute love. However such kismet still requires
open hearts to recognise it when it appears. 
Thankfully, LZF founders Marivi Calvo and Sandro Tothill have such receptive hearts. 
It’s been a long, inspiring journey for the couple who started out with nothing more
than a dream to make people happy with their stylish lights. The first lamps were
simple upright hand-painted wood tubes that Marivi & Sandro designed and made in
their small basement studio. 
Nowadays LZF lamps appear in private homes and major buildings throughout the
world, from the Sony Centre in Berlin, to the Metropol in Barcelona. Recently the
company has been working with ground-breaking projects in the USA, including
Google Headquarters, Harvard University Library and Microsoft California.
However one thing remains the same; each and every LZF lamp is still based on the
spectacular effect of light shining through the translucent skin of wood. The company
uses only quality tulip poplar wood, cherry and beech veneers sourced from FSC
forests in the eastern United States. As a diffusion material it is without peer, producing
a warm even glow that seems to capture the very essence of light itself. 
Every LZF lamp is designed in-house and assembled by hand at LZF’s factory; an old
stone winery in the little village of Chiva on the outskirts of Valencia, Spain. Because
of the human element and the use of natural wood, every piece is unique. One size
only, and little imperfections become part of the charm; a rare commodity in a world
of mass-produced ubiquity. 
From humble beginnings LZF has become of the planet’s most dynamic creators of
beautiful lights. Long may they shine.

Agatha

Was it Murder on the Orient Express, or Death on the Nile that
captured the imagination of designer Luis Eslava? Whatever the
case, he became enamoured with novelist Agatha Christie, and
chose to celebrate her murder-mystery tomes with this equally

mysterious lamp named in her honour. And while Christie
weaves an intriguing tale, Eslava has woven a captivating piece of
light-art that asks us only one curly question: Was it the butler?
