A FOUR PART SERIES

JANUARY 24-25, 2020

FRIDAY 7PM | SATURDAY 6PM
SUNDAY 9AM & 10:45am

Our 2020 Winter Conference speaker will be Steven Barr, Pastor of Cast Member Church at Walt Disney World.
CMC is a church plant of the Evangelical Free Church of America reaching the people from around the world who
come to work at the Disney Parks. Seven years ago, Steven and his family made a commitment to be a light of hope
to those who knew little or nothing about Jesus. They purposed to build a community among the 74,000 cast mem-
bers that make the magic happen at the four major theme parks, two water parks, 24 hotels, golf courses, and camp-
ground that constitute what we know as Disney. Steven Barr has done groundbreaking work in developing
missional communities within the "city" of Disney, where work schedules often prevent traditional church involve-
ment. Steven Barr and members of Cast Member Church are deeply involved in intercessory prayer-walking within
the Disney Parks with a goal to have believers praying in every park, 365 days a year.

Steven Barr is the author of "A Guide to a Life Beyond Imagination," which focuses on the "Quest Compass,"
a tool for evangelism and spiritual guidance that is transferable into almost any situation or friendship. Make plans
now for this exciting weekend!

“far more”

than we can imagine

Many of you might guess that I would claim Ephesians 3:20 as my favorite verse. If you thought that, you would be correct. I appreciate this
verse because of its obvious correlation supporting a financially based sermon or article. However, my reason for liking this verse is not solely for
financial reasons, but that it speaks to our complete Christian life and walk. So, let's address the phrase that most excites teachers/pastors who love
to use this verse in a financial manner. Ephesians 3:20 states:

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, (ESV)

The NIV version of the Bible says: to do immeasurably more

In the KJV of the Bible, it says: to do exceedingly abundantly

The phrase they most like to emphasize is far more abundantly. Although one might determine that these words pertain solely to

finances, there is so much more. When we dig deeper, we discover the true message that Paul wants to convey.

As I was studying this phrase, I found that the Greek word is also found in three other verses in the Bible:

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be
poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

I Thessalonians 3:10 Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.

I Thessalonians 5:13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

When many of you read Luke 6:38, your first thought might focus upon giving financially, blessings are received in return. But there is so much
more. In my study of the scriptures, I have realized that running over falls in line with the Jewish celebration of Havdalah. This is a ceremony
celebrating the end of the Sabbath and the beginning of the secular or workweek. In the Havdalah ceremony a cup is filled to overflowing, while
the runoff is collected by a saucer. The cup represents the person's or families' needs for the upcoming workweek. The saucer signifies a belief, in
faith, that God will give more than they need. This overflow isn’t something that one spends frivolously, but rather used to bless others who are in
need.

1 Thessalonians 3:10 is a verse relating to our faith. Paul teaches that we should pray with earnest, “far more abundantly,” so that what is lacking
in our faith will be provided. In the same way that God can supply far more than we can ever ask or imagine, we are taught by Paul that our abundant
prayer should also be for those in need of strength in their faith so that what they lack may also be fulfilled. Do you know of anyone who couldn’t
use this kind of prayer?

1 Thessalonians 5:13 pertains to our regard for those that labor with us, for us, and among us for the sake of the Gospel. We are called to hold
our leaders in high regard in a way that is far more abundant. Why would Paul say that? Satan has a way of whispering lies, infiltrating our lives if
we permit. If we regard people more abundantly, and pray for them as such, Satan has less influence. In prayer, we are less likely to fall for his
deception. In practice, we achieve abundant life as we “Live in peace with each other.”

We are blessed to understand that the deeper meaning of these verses refers not only to finances, but to all aspects of our Christian walk. I love
how Bible commentator, David Guzik, summarizes:

· You can ask for every good thing you have ever experienced – God can do above that.

· You can think of or imagine things beyond your experience – God can do above that.

· You can imagine good things that are beyond your ability to name – God can do above that.

As I close, I want to share something I learned while I was touring the Wycliff Bible Institute. Their mission is not only to translate the Bible,
but to do so in as many languages as they can. One of the translations embraces the Hawaiian Pidgin language. The reason I love this version is that
the words are so simple, and direct. The Bible is called “Da Jesus Book” and the translation puts it this way:

Whatever we like ask Him for, or whatever we think He can do, He can do plenty more than that! That's the kind of power He gives us, changes
us guys inside.

I love the reference to the power that He gives us, MARRIAGE CRUISE
