MEINE GESUNDHEIT “

Wie geht’s dir? Mir gehts’s sehr gut. Gesundheit ist sehr
wichtig. Ich mache viel für meine gute Gesundheit. Ich
treibe viel Sport. Ich spiele Basketball, FuBball und
Tennis. Meine Eltern besuchen einen Yogakurs und
heutzutage nehme ich auch an diesen Kurs teil. Yoga
macht den Körper gesund, ich tanze auch gern und
einmal in der Woche besuche ich mein Tanzkurs. Aber
ich habe oft Zahnschmerzen, weil ich viele SüBigkeiten (
sweets ) esse . Wir kaufen Essen im Bioladen. Neulich
habe ich begonnen, vegetarisches Essen zu essen und
ich fühle mich gut. Milch und Apfelsaft trinke ich sehr
gern. Ich esse auch viel Obst und Gemüse. Es ist am
wichtigsten, gesund zu bleiben. Früher habe ich für
meine Gesundheit nicht zu viel getan, aber jetzt finde ich
sehr wichtig. Was machst du fur deine Gesundheit?

NATUR, MEIN ALTER BEGLEITER

Immer wenn mein Zimmer unordentlich ist, ist meine
Mutter sehr böse . Mein Zimmer soll immer ordentlich
sein, aber das ist etwas schwierig . Meine Bücher liegen
auf dem Tisch. Die Kleidung liegen auch immer überall
und das stört mich auch. Meine Spielsachen sind auch
nicht ordentlich organisiert . Gestern hatte ich ein Streit
mit meiner Mutter darüber und sie hat gesagt , dass ich
nicht mehr mit Freunde ausgehen kann und spielen darf
bekomme , wenn mein Zimmer so aussieht. Meine Gitarre
steht an der Wand, die Jeans liegen auf dem Bett und ein
Paar Magazine liegen auf dem Boden! ECHT CHAOTISCH!
Ab heute habe ich mich entschieden mein Zimmer immer
sauber zu machen. Ich hänge meine Klamotten in den
Kleiderschrank , die Spielsachen organisiere ich in einer
Spielzeugkiste. Ich putze mein Zimmer einmal in der
Woche. Ich mache vieles in meinem Zimmer, ich lerne ,
schlafe , spiele am Computer und sehe fern. Mein Zimmer
ist auch ein Art Treffpunkt fur meine Freunde, deswegen
ist es immer schmutzig. Aber mein Zimmer muss ja sauber
sein. Niemand hilft mir, mein Zimmer aufzuräumen. Man
muss ja vieles selbst machen.

MEINE STADT , ECHT TOLL

Ich wohne in Gurgaon. Gurgaon ist eine schöne Stadt und ich liebe Gurgaon sehr. Das liegt in Haryana in Nordindien.
In meiner Stadt kann man schöne Diskos, Restaurants, Kinos, Theater, Oper, Einkaufzentren und Büros finden.
Manchmal gehe ich am Wochenende mit meiner Clique ins Schwimmbad oder Restaurant. Gurgaon hat viele Büros
von International Firmen und bietet schöne Arbeitsplätze. Meine Stadt ist ja ein richtig IT Hub. Gurgaon hat keine
FuBgeangerzone , aber es gibt hier viele Plätze fur Unterhaltung zum Beispiel Cyber Hub, Ambience Mall, Kingdom of
Dreams usw. Diese sind Lieblingstreffpunkte in Gurgaon. Man kann hier essen, trinken, SpaB haben, einkaufen und
sich erholen. Manche Leute kommen hier nach der Arbeit, sitzen mit Freunde und einfach reden oder machen
Partys. In verschiedenen Kniepen gibt es auch musikalische Feste und Komödie Fest, das finde ich besonders toll.
Neben Gurugram liegt Neu Delhi, die GroBstadt von Indien. Nach Delhi braucht man nut eine halbe Stunde. Hier gibt
es viele Sehenswürdigkeiten zu sehen. Man kann India Gate, Qutub Mina , Lotus Temple , Museen und viele andere
schöne Plätze besichtigen. In meiner Stadt git es auch viele Kinos , Kaufhäuser und Buchhandlungen , wo man in der
Freizeit entweder Freunde treffen oder Spass haben kann. Feste sind hier grossartig, wir feiern viele Feste in Indien,
aber am besten finde ich Diwali. Überall in der Stadt finden Ausstellungen,Fairs oder Shoppingfeste statt , wir tragen
traditionelle Kleidung und feiern unsere indische Feste wie z.B Holi , Diwali , Baisakhi usw. Ich wohne gern in meiner
Stadt.

DIE NATUR IST SCHÖN

Die Natur ist erstaunlich, sie ist frisch und schön und
erholsam. Manchmal machen die Menschen sogar
Spaziergänge in der Natur, um ihren Geist zu klären. Aber
die schnelle Urbanisierung und Industrialisierung
zerstören unsere Natur. Dagegen müssen wir vorgehen,
wenn wir auf einer grünen Erde überleben wollen. Wir
können damit beginnen, Bäume zu pflanzen. Auch ein
einzelner Baum macht einen Unterschied.

DIE UMWELT

Die Natur, das wichtigste Reich und doch so schön, steht jetzt kurz vor dem Aussterben. Die hohen grünen Bäume, die Lebensraum der
Lufttiere sind, werden jetzt für nichts als unsere egoistischen Wünsche, die Wünsche, die die ungepflegte Realität unseres Selbst
markieren, abgeholzt. Die Flüsse, die früher die Berge hinunterflossen, trocknen jetzt aus und machen es zum letzten Pflaster, um zu
beweisen, dass es auf den kargen Ländern existiert, noch kommen wird. Die unschuldigen Tiere, die den Schutz ihres Lebensraumes
genießen, laufen jetzt herum, um ihren Lebensraum zu finden, der einst bei den Waldbränden verloren ging, die durch unsere Aktionen
verursacht wurden. Die Urbanisierung hat uns alle in ein Rennen gebracht, in dem wir alle unsere Kiten und Verwandten für einen
Schritt nach vorn hinter uns lassen. Jetzt ist der Schaden angerichtet, und wir können versuchen, zu heilen, aber noch wichtiger ist die
Prävention. Wir müssen die bereits gefährdete Natur durch nur ein paar einfache Schritte wie Fahrgemeinschaften, Wiederverwendung,
Recycling und Reduzieren zu retten!ja Fahrgemeinschaften können den Rauch reduzieren, der die globale Erwärmung verursacht.
Verschwendung zu produzieren. Wir müssen die Zukunft davor bewahren, schlimmer zu werden. Und schauen wir uns die helle Seite
an! Ein paar Umweltschützer wie Greta Thunberg arbeiten daran, die Situation zu stoppen, um sich zu verschlimmern. Jetzt machen wir
weiter mit der Rettung der Umwelt, um unsere Zukunft zu retten!

ZU FUSS IST IMMER COOL!

Hallo an alle meine Freunde. Meine Schule heisst Suncity Schule. Es ist nicht so weit von meinem Haus. Manchmal
fahre ich zur Schule mit dem Bus. Es ist ungefähr ein Kilometer von meinem Haus. Ich brauche nicht viel Zeit zur
Schule. Aber ich finde es immer cool zu Fuss zur Schule zu gehen. Auf dem Weg sehe ich die Kinder, die zur Schule
gehen, durch mein Lieblingspark gehe ich bis zur Kreuzung, ich geniesse die frische Luft und das macht immer viel
Spass. Neben meine Schule gibts es eine Kirche und jeden morgen klingelt die Kirchenglocke, bevor die Schule
beginnt. Das finde ich sehr positiv. Ich brauche nur 5 Minuten zur Schule zu Fuss und das ist wie ein Spaziergang. Zu
Fuss finde ich sehr gesund, es macht mich aktiv. In Indien fahren viele Leute nicht zu Fuss und das finde ich schlecht.
Man muss viel laufen und immer wenn möglich, muss man kein Auto benutzen. Jetzt beginnt die Schule, Ciao!! Einen
schönen Tag :)

Bäume in der Natur helfen uns zu atmen, die Blumen in leben in diesem Haus . Es gibt 5 Mitglieder in
der Natur helfen uns, schön zu werden. Die Natur ist von meiner Familie. Meine familie and ich wohne
Ort bis Ort unterschiedlich. Es gibt Hügel, Berge, in Gurgaon. Ich habe ein großes Haus . Meine
Wüsten, Wälder, Täler, Städte und vieles mehr. Aber jetzt Familie ist gut und die beste fur mich . Meine
wird die Natur zerstört. Das geschieht wegen uns Familie liebt mich und versteht mich am
Menschen, also müssen wir es schützen. Kleine Schritte Besten . Wir sind eine glückliche Familie .eine

है, इसी लए उसे ‘माता’ माना गया है। सामा प से हम कह सकते ह क सभी पशु-प ी, पड़े -

पौधे और हमारा पयावरण यह सब कृ त का ह ा ह। हालां क मनु भले ही कृ त का ह ा

है परतं ु फर भी मानवीय याओ ं को एक वशेष ेणी के अतं गत रखा गया है और इ ाकृ तक

नह माना जाता है। कृ त को मानव ारा माँ क सं ा दी गई है जसके मूल म उसके बना न

सफ जीवन क उ ई है ब उसके बना जीवन ही असभं व है। इसके बावजदू वह मनु

ही है जसके ारा सदैव कृ त और पयावरण को त प ंचायी जाती रही है जसका कारण

आव कता से अ धक ससं ाधन का दोहन है और संर ण तलु ना म कम है। हम यह ीकार

करना होगा क कृ त के सा न म हम ादा खशु रहते ह और ऊजावान भी। कृ त कतना

दनाकं   ११ सतबंर २०१९ को सन सटी व यालय म हदी दवस के उपल म रगं ारगं काय म का आयोजन कया गया जसम
क ा छह से क ा दस तक के व ा थय ने बढ़–चढ़ कर ह ा लया। इस वष मु वषय ‘श रोपण’ कृ त पोषण’ था जसम
ब ने बढ़–चढ़ कर ह ा लया। व भ क ाओ ं के ब ने व वध कार के ानवधक शै क  एवं मनोरजं क रगं ारगं
काय म ुत कए। इस दन रगं ारगं रोचक ग त व धयाँ तथा तयो गताएँ आया जत क ग । पहले दन व र वग क वशषे

ाथना सभा हदी अ ा पकाओ ं के नदशन म ुत क गई जसम गीत, नृ , हा झल कयाँ एवं वाद– ववाद तयो गता आ द
काय म तु कए गए।, तारीख को क ा छह से दस ने शू कालाशं म व भ अतं क ीय ग त व धय म भाग लया, जैस–े
क ा छह ने ‘आशु भाषण’ क तयो गता, क ा सात ने ‘क वताएँ ’ सुनाकर हदी दवस म ह ा लया। क ा आठ ने पौधरोपण
ग त व ध क । क ा नौ ने कृ त एवं पयावरण पर संगणक ु त दी। क ा दस ने ‘ कृ त पोषण पर ना टका’ तयो गता
आयो जत क । श बग–बग व ोट भी इस काय म का आकषण का क रहा। पहले दन इस सभा के मु अ त थ सु स
क व, बाल सा ह कार, चतक और अनवु ादक ी द वक रमेश जी थे ज ‘बाल सा ह अकादमी पुर ार’ भी मल चुका है।
आदरणीया नदे शका महोदयाजी ने उनका ागत बाँस गु तथा ृ त च के प म च दान करके कया। काय म क
शु वात दीप– लन एवं वनती से ई। क ा सात से क ा दस तक के व ा थय ने हा झल कयाँ ुत क । क ा छह से
क ा आठ तक के व ा थय ने ‘का पाठ’ तयो गता’ म रोचक क वताएँ सुना । ‘सोशल मी डया के नशे म चूर’ कृ त सा न
से दरू ’ वषय पर तक से भरपूर ‘वाद– ववाद तयो गता’ का अलग ही अंदाज़ था जसे सभी ने सराहा। क न वग क ाथना सभा

सं ृ त – संस् + कृ त् अथात ास से न मत अथवा सासँ ो से बनी एवं यं से कृ त , जो

नय मत ाकरण के ारा सं ृ त को प र ृ त एवं सव योग म आने यो प

दान कया। पा णनीय ाकरण ही सं ृ त का ाचीनतम व सव े ाकरण है।

द व दैवीय गुण से यु , अ तप र ृ त, परमा जत, सवा धक व त, अलं कृ त

सौ य से यु , पूण समृ व स , पूणवै ा नक देववाणी सं ृ त – मनु क

आ चेतना को जागृत करने वाली, सा कता म वृ , बु व आ बल दान करने

वाली स णू व क सव े भाषा है। अ सभी भाषाओ म ु ट होती है पर इस भाषा

THE ABSOLUTES OF LUNCH
The Lunch celebrates the achiever and the achievement. The celebration went up in significance this year, as
sixty-seven students broke bread with the ideology influencer, the Director of Suncity schools, Mrs. Rupa
Chakravarty, and the Principal, Mrs. Sandeepa Rai, at the Kingdom of Dreams (the metaphor of dreams
complements the idea) on 27 September 2019. For these specially chosen ones, eating was an event because what
seems to be only lunch is an institution in Suncity, an academic and co-curricular right of those who excel.

BEHTAR INDIA IDENTITY BY CULTURE
Swasthya, Swatchata and Vatavaran are the norm Culture is intangible but Angad Singh and Palakshi
today. Participation alone speaks so much about the Sehrawat touched the peak of perfection in the Cultural
competition and the competitor. Suncity team lifted Competition SAWAN held at Gyan Devi Public School,
the Bronze Trophy in the Behtar India Competion held Gurugram on 31 August, 2019. Angad presented Bandish
in association with DHFL, Pramerica and CAF to in Raga Miyan Malhar and won the First prize for the
highlight cleanliness, health and the environment. Solo Classical Round and Palakshi won the First prize in
the Solo Dance Round for her performance. Dhwani
Arush Lall on the website of TCS (Tata Consultancy Khera’s poster on the topic Save the Earth won her the
Services) Third prize. The team lifted the Overall Trophy in the
cultural round.

QUALITY IS CREATIVE
Quality involves freshness of ideas. Ironically, time puts the final seal of quality on that freshness. Quality Youth
Initiative Summit at Mauritius is proving this test to be true. Suncity participated in the event from July 21 to 27,
2019. In the Case Study Presentation by seniors, the Ishikawa Award went to Arnauv Gilotra, Amaayra Kapoor,
Vidhi Golchha, Tanishi Jhalani, Riya Gupta, Abhiraaj Singh Rao and Manya Narula. In the Case Study Presentation
by juniors, the Ishikawa Award was won by Piyush Mehta, Hriday Kabir, Lakshya Kapoor, Aarya Saraf, Sehaj Brar,
Twisha Sharma and Varini Vij. For Public Speaking, the First position in the junior category went to Aarya Saraf.
First position for Debate went to Twisha Sharma and Varini Vij. The Best Speaker was Twisha sharma. The Kavi
Sammelan ( junior) winners were Piyush Mehta and Sehaj Brar.

QUALITY EQUALITY
School is children’s domain and when quality
becomes a race, they participate in the ICSQCC
contest. Suncity teams won Special Award for
Case Study and Consolation for Nukkad Natak at
City Montessori’s ICSQCC in Lucknow from 26
to 1 December 2019.

ASEAN QUIZ
Royal Thai Embassy became a challenge hub for
schools on 7 August 2019. Anisha Gupta, Vikram
Tapadia and Anmol Das received Honourable Mention
for their participation.in the ASEAN Quiz which
celebrates ASEAN–India relations and aims to spread
awareness about the member states. The event was
graced by many luminaries, including the Royal Thai
Ambassador, Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi and Brunei
High Commissioner, Dato Paduka Haji Sidek Ali.

THE KNOWLEDGE PLAYERS TINKER FEST
Humanity explores ways to replace itself. In this Anvi Tuteja showed some entrepreneurial confidence

Days 2019 for their Artificial Intelligence project. The organized by Manav Rachna International from 25 to

FOLK DANCE FESTIVAL
Fourteen students from Suncity won hearts and applause at the Tenth International Children’s Folk Dance
Festival, Istanbul, organized by CIOFF, in association with UNESCO, from 20 to 28 April 2019. The repertoire of
their dances ranged from Bihu, Ghoomar, Dandiya to Santhal, Garba as well as Bhoomi Pranam, Pushpanjali Aran
and Tarana. The young team participated in the Sovereign Day celebrations, dedicated to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk,
the founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey. Suncity children were lauded by the Head Mayor, Mr.
Ekremimamoglu, Governor Mr. Mehmet Okur and the city Mayor, Mr. Calik. The Secretary of CIOFF Mr. Kagan
Tiftik lauded the spellbinding performances of the school team. They also put up a show in several schools like
Buyuksehir, Nese Sever, MeselekVeTeknik etc.

PERENNIAL HOPE FOR HUMANITY
Mothers were invited to the school to see the transformation of the child into responsible student and office
holder on 4 May 2019. The rhyme recitations by the tiny tots, a child’s play about mother and child and the big boys
and girls’ Investiture Ceremony to install the new Student Council into their offices with pledges and badges and
being handed the Charter of Duties by the Chief Guest, Dr. Marina Torchia, drove home the point that mothers are
the heartbeat of home and the heartthrob of humanity.

INDEPENDENCE DAY
The school saluted the nation on the 73rd Independence Day with patriotic fervour. Mr Diwakar Sharma, the first
runner up of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, was the Chief Guest. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the Triclour followed
by the March Past. Grades I and II presented a tableau, celebrating the achievements of ISRO. The students
presented musical renditions of VandeMataram and Sare Jahan se Accha on the cello and the violin. The patriotic
song winners also presented the group song. The Chief Guest’s motivating speech was followed by an emotional
song by him. Suncitizens were awarded for their exemplary scholastic and co-scholastic performances. Grade XII
district topper, Ayush Verma was felicitated. The Dance Drama Prakriti Matram mesmerized the audience. Young
athletes from grades III and IV put up a skipping rope performance on the the theme of Young India, Fit India. The
Head Boy gave the vote of thanks. The kites soared high, symbolizing our free spirit.

VIDEO CONFERENCES
Telepresence has added a new dimension to conventional communication with academic counterparts across the
world. Videoconferencing is an online tradition in Suncity. The following video conferences were made possible
by Generation Global, an interface service provider which also prepares students by giving them the experience
and exposure to navigate differences in a peaceful way.
Suncity students videoconferenced with Pioneer Integrated School, Egypt on 13 May 2019, sharing perspectives
and experiences on the topic, ‘Art of Expression’. They explored how people in their communities share visual and
performing arts to express themselves in personal, spiritual or religious ways. The key highlights were the
powerpoint presentation by Ira Singh and Dhwani Bhandari, showcasing the portrayal of Indian culture on visual
and performing arts, a tabla performance by Ivaan Kapoor, paintings by Prithvi Thakur and Tanisha Kumar’s demo
on Bharatnatyam mudras.
The theme for the video conference with Dwarka International School and Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura
on 3 August 2019 was Essentials of Dialogue-Faith, Values and Communities. The Generation Global facilitator,
Mr. Christopher Muscat, asked students to describe the particularly unique or special features of their
communities, what they like about the same and one thing they would like to change and why. The students
shared personal stories to illustrate their ideas and also the role faith plays in daily life.
The video conference with Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini and Cambridge School, Indirapuram on 21 August
2019 was about Climate Change. Students shared their perspectives on climate change, affecting their local
community and region, on their role, as part of their community, in dealing with its impact and came up with
realistic solutions and practical approaches in their homes, schools and communities.
Two Indonesian schools, namely, SMAN 10 Padang and SMAN 2 Trenggalk, video conferenced with Suncity on 11
October 2019 on the theme Exploring Core Skills - Essentials of Dialogue on Festivals. Students shared the
legends associated with their festivals and the celebrations, rituals and food, their meaning and impact on their
communities.
In the video conference on 22 October 2019, the topic was Wealth, Poverty and Charity. Students explored the link
between poverty and charity and what faith says about the need to be charitable and other reasons for their
passion for (or lack of) charity. Students got into the larger questions about the ways different religions and
cultures approach the issue, care for the underprivileged, and our power to change.
Human Trafficking was the topic for the video conference on 21 January 2020. Students from Richmond School,
Israel discussed the value of human life and steps and action that need to be taken to check human trafficking.

Humans are in a perpetual design state. When education and technology join hands, we get the option of
designing ourselves. The theme of the workshop, on 27 April 2019, organised in collaboration with Mahattattva
was design, technology and change. It focused on Design-Thinking, LEGO Robotics, STEM Workshop, Mindbox 3D
Design, Google Workshop, Communicating with Sensitivity, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for
Educators. It was attended by students and teachers from different schools and institutions.

THE THINKING WEEKS

The idea is for both participant subjects to interpret
themselves in the light of the other, if not to interpret
one another. The first subject week to take off was
SOCIAL SCIENCE AND PERFORMING ARTS in which
the conceptual sharing of the narrative of social
sciences went beyond itself in the week from 22 to 27
July 2019. After the inauguration by the Director of
Suncity schools, Mrs. Rupa Chakravarty and the
Principal, Mrs. Sandeepa Rai, the assembly explored its
theme of Different Eras of Entertainment. Groove
Gully Family Music Festival was organised during the
week. Students explored musical instruments like
Chenda, Thavil and West African Percussion. Grade
VIII visited the Aravalis for Seed Plantation Drive to
sow Avenue Canopy Trees. Grades VI to X participated
in a classroom quiz on Preservation of Nature and Folk
Dances of India. The Entrepreneurship and Commerce
students of grade XI put up food stalls as an ASK-U
activity to learn about cost-revenue analysis,
procurement and promotion strategies and essential
managerial skills. As part of their outing, grades VI to
VIII watched Wonder, a movie based on the award-
winning novel. Grades IX and XI watched Article 15, a
movie based on the socio-political climate of India.

VISUAL ARTS AND SCIENCE
In the subsoil of aesthetics and pollinating science, ideas fertilized, formed fruit, seeds took root and germinated
into the Visual Arts and Science week from 26 to 31 August 2019. The theme for the inauguration was
Amalgamation of Oil and Water: Its Science and Aesthetics. The Principal, Mrs Sandeepa Rai, inaugurated the
week by making a lava lamp and unveiling a work of art by students, which had been made with oil and water!
Students combined science and art were busy on Tuesday and Thursday through various activities. Grade VI
attended a workshop on making seed balls by mixing seeds, mud, manure and water under the guidance of
experts from the Aman Foundation. Grades VII and VIII enjoyed watching 'Innovate Fly', a model rocket car race.
Grades IX and X made posters from their science textbooks. The Wednesday assembly featured the Inter-House
Quiz, won by Indian House. The Friday assembly was graced by Prof. Vandana Kothari from Delhi College of
Planning and Fine Arts. The students put up Sunshine on My Shoulder, a song and dance presentation, Lukmaan-
Ek Kalakar, a Hindi skit, a presentation on renowned artists and Togetherness, a dance. Grades VI to VIII visited
Waste to Wonder Park while grades IX to XI watched the movie Mission Mangal.

ICT AND MATHEMATICS
Only a millimetric distinction could tell ICT and Mathematics apart, so well they fused together in the week from 14 to19
October 2019. The theme was Nurture Nature: Learning by Doing with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence. The e-puja
symbolised the digital protection of tradition in the inaugural assembly after a bot declared the week open. The Google
dance was probably a metatheoretical rendition, so enigmatic it was! The skit featured Introducing Chat Bot and how
unsafe our passwords are. The special guests were Ms. Meenakshi Uberoi and Ms. Vinni Jhauri. Tuesday and Wednesday
featured Inter-school Robotics Competition. The students were addressed by Mrs. Shabnam Sharma, Director, Robogenius
Academy. Brain Teaser was held throughout the week to hone students’ logical and reasoning abilities. The quiz of
Wednesday was for all the schools invited to the Robofest but the visiting French exchange students stood out in their
participation. Thursday had two activities in store for the students: Difference Engine and Billiard Ball Problem. In the
Friday assembly, grades VII to IX made presentations on the Global Role of Math and Artificial Intelligence, especially for
the differently abled. Dr. Sarvjeet Herald, a professor who specializes in AI, subjected the audience to his marathon but
extremely informative talk. On Saturday, IV to VIII grade students converted the auditorium into a Math Camp; ICT
Marketplace, putting up their project stalls, complete with their company’s brochure and QR codes. Parents were invited.
The outing on 28 September was a special screening of Spiderman-Far from Home at Miraj Cinemas, MGF Metropolis
Mall.

ENGLISH AND THIRD LANGUAGES
English and Foreign Languages experienced a surrealist week in which they pitched their tents for the
celebration of the week from 11 to 15 November 2019 but it all turned to fiction as after Wednesday, the
schools were shut down by the government. The story goes like this: On Monday, 11 November, they got
enough window for a swift inauguration, a fleeting prayer, a crisp thought, juicy news and a song which began
as an old German group song but ended as a French solo (it was that fast)! The reason for the hurry was an
adjustment of sorts with the Gur Purab assembly organisers who were all set to take over for over an hour
after that. On Wednesday, Tuesday being Gur Purab holiday, English and Foreign Languages reunited and
returned to dominate the scene with more modular events like what could definitely be referred to as a song,
a fashion show, Word Race: an Inter-House Dictionary Quiz and a farcical skit by grade IX students: Are You
Indian. The rest of the week was engulfed in polluting smoke from burning crop fields of Haryana to coax the
government to shut down schools. The well-planned Friday assembly rose like the phoenix from its ashes on
Monday, 18 November, and featured poetry recitation by Ananya Singh from her recently published book
Eighth Colour of the Rainbow. Grade XI maintained the continuum of laughter (making the comic connection
from last Wednesday) through their skit, Tale of the Tree City, a satirical parody of Vikram Seth’s Tale of the
Melon City.

The focus of the following seminars, summits and conclaves was not merely information but these were cultural
conferences too. These were research representations, comprising reflective communication, entailing close indulgence
for structured scholarship.
Lotus Valley School, Noida invited Suncitizens to LVIS Student's Conclave of Cultural Extravaganza on 7 November 2019.
The programme featured soft Sufi music, graceful dances but the focus was on youth and ethics in a globalised world. Mr.
Deepak Vohra, Chief Guest for the occasion, lay emphasis on empowering the youth. Mr. Mahesh Rangarajan, a history
professor at Ashoka University and Dr. Shyama Chona, patron and advisor of the school, also shared their insights and
perspectives.
Students from grades VII and VIII attended the Annual Inter-School Conclave organised by Vega Schools. A panel
discussion was led by experts from the field of education and entrepreneurship on the topic ‘Learning for the Real World’
with a focus on nurturing entrepreneurial skills amongst students.
High school students from CBSE, Cambridge and IB attended Conference of Indian Academy of Neurosciences organised by
the departments of Anatomy and Physiology on 18 November 2019 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences-AIIMS, Delhi.

The Young Innovators Summit was held at India Habitat Centre on 26 February 2020. Suncity
School showcased their project to Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft. Artificial Intelligence workshop
was conducted by Mr. Phani Kondipudi, CEO, 3X3 Connect. He also mentored the Aerocras team,
Arush Lall, Saksham Diwan, Yashita Manglick and Diya Bhatnagar at Suncity.

FOREX: THE STUDENT EXCHANGES  

LOXFORD
Education becomes a model engagement for both schools. Within the new cultural context, the
politico-historical microscope becomes redundant and accommodation takes precedence.
Students and faculty members from Suncity’s UK Partner, Loxford School, visited us on 13 February
2020. The aim was collaboration and comparative study on various international school projects.
The visiting team was constructively engaged in peer lessons and group learning on various project
themes. Performing Arts maestros presented a western song, fusion music and Tarana, a Kathak
dance performance. The history project Our Monuments Under Siege involved the visitors in a flip
teaching module to sensitise learners about preserving our cultural heritage. They also participated
in a financial literacy group activity which involved a comparative study of experiences and
opinions based on needs, wants, savings and investment of UK and India. An International Academia
(IB and Cambridge) lesson on Amnesty International was very enlightening. It was followed by an
ICT project about online ethics and security.

SPAIN
Nine students from Middle and Senior School visited Suncity’s partner school, Colegio Virgen De Europa, Madrid
from 5 to 14 April 2019. They attended classes and interacted with Spanish students. The excursions included a
walk from Palacio Real or Royal Palace to Catedral de Almudena. The students savoured the local cuisine. They fell
in love with Toledo, the beautiful medieval city in the autonomous region of Castile–La Mancha, a World Heritage
Site and were especially in awe of El Greco’s famous museum. The last place on their itinerary was, Segovia, a city
in the autonomous region of Castile and León, famous for its historic monuments and the Roman Aqueduct,
another World Heritage Site. The students were amazed by their discovery that the castle, El Alcazar, was the
inspiration for Disney Land in the US.
