WALKATHON-

A walk in pursuit of peace & service to humanity

Our School organized ‘Walkathon 2018’ for its learners, parents and the faculty on
Thursday, 27th September 2018. Walkathon is a unique endeavour to spread the
message of harmony and peace. In its third year, the event saw parents turn up in huge
numbers accompanied by the zealous little learners. The Principal, Ms. Anita Malhotra,
welcomed the gathering and spoke about how having inner peace and faith leads to
gratification and happiness. The day began with an invigorating choir performance by
young learners followed by the release of balloons by the Principal and the learners to
mark the Walk. Subsequently, everyone began the walk which started from the school
premises and ended in school greens.

the element of interest by manifold. It leaves
them mentally stimulated, enhances their

GALLERY WALK

The school earnestly believes in inculcating a culture of excellence that permeates every
classroom, thus enabling the learners to get the best education and create a lifelong
passion for learning. Working towards this goal, the school organized The Gallery Walk –
Journey of learners’ academic growth for grades Pre-Nursery to III, on Saturday, 17th
November 2018. The event witnessed the young Lotusians taking their parents onto an
incredible journey of the classroom learning carried out over the past term. A complete
learner driven event, the Gallery Walk saw the little learners unfold before their parents
a plethora of creative classroom work and recreated the concepts taught in their own
words. They also quizzed their parents on some of the activities and were elated to
prompt them into giving the right answers. This was followed by a short tête-à-tête
between the parents and their wards over some delectable snacks and drinks in the cozy
café corners, created in the classrooms itself. The snacks were prepared and served by
the learners themselves, thus instilling in them the crucial life skills of hospitality,
responsibility and courtesy.

POTTERY FACTORY persons, are key educators. We, at
Lotus Valley International School,
Gurugram, ensure rich experiential
learning for our learners. Carrying
forward the same idea, Grade III
learners visited a pottery factory on
31st October, where they got to learn
about stoneware and bone china
pottery through observation and
interaction. It was a much-awaited visit
for the learners who had read and
discussed the art of pottery making in
classroom setting. The learners were
amazed to know that bone china gets
its name from the raw material used to
make it, 50 per cent each of animal
bone ash and clay. The process of
glazing, stamping, baking and
decorating the pottery was keenly
observed by the 8 year old alert minds.
The glitter in the eyes of the learners

temperature of 1200 centigrade was
appreciable. The learnings taken from
the visit hung in the air for many days
after the visit, making it an absolute
success!
