All big things come from small beginnings; the seed of every habit is a single, tiny
decision; and decision-making is never learned but comes from experience. Recent
events show all too clearly that many of the biggest threats we face respecting no
borders or walls, and must be met with collective action, which in turn is often an
inflection point for rapid innovation. We at Lotus Valley believe to be a motivator, a
facilitator, and a cultivator of talent; and making our learners citizens of the modern
world is the quintessential element of our teaching.
Following the realistic ideals, we envisage our pupils to understand that
knowledge is only the accumulation of facts whereas wisdom, the synthesis
of knowledge and experiences into insights that deepens one’s understanding of
relationships and the meaning of life; and knowledge hence becomes a tool, and
wisdom the craft.
As it becomes imperative to look into the future, we as educational leaders and
instructors, have been able to incorporate 21st-century skills into our existing
curriculum. Technology and innovation will continue to revolutionize our way of
life with diversified and multifaceted stimulants, so we admit to being focused on
keeping students engaged in the months, years, and decades ahead. Our learners
identify, introspect, improve, and implement their learnings.

Goals are good for setting a direction, but systems are best for making progress.
Our firm belief in experiential learning reorients the path to progression instead of
perfection. Pupils here are challenged and nurtured in equal measure. We prize the
growth of positive, well-rounded citizens as highly as we do academic success,
pursuing both with vigour and commitment. The wealth of opportunities open to
our pupils encourages an active mind, an active body, and a true desire to aim high
in all that they do in life.

Growth is inextricably linked to every member of our thriving school community so
we encourage our educators to invest in opportunities to learn about global
education practices and research the field of comparative education to ensure their
teaching methods and curricula are effective.

We are forever grateful to our Founder Director-Principal, Ms. Anita Malhotra for
her conducive guidance, and defined and articulated vision. We appreciate our

providential parents for their partnership in this collaborative venture
of insurance, resurrection, and fruition. Habits are the compound
interest of self-improvement and what can be better than to learn it
from the selfless of all – our Mother Nature!

Let us not break this chain of co-existence. Let us
replace differences with understandings!

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal; it is the courage to
continue that counts.” -Winston S. Churchill

This year has been phenomenal. We valiantly battled
the pandemic, recovered, and went back to our
regular routines. Once more, the school's doors were
opened to the students, and we sailed out on another
academic adventure without a hitch. Our top goals
were the students' well-being and safety.

To educate and prepare global people for our society, DR. SHAYAMA CHONA
a community is necessary. Ms. Anita Malhotra, Padma Shri,
Director Principal, and her talented team worked
tirelessly to ensure that the children's transition from Padma Bhushan Awardee
online to offline instruction went as smoothly as
possible.

With the integration of the National Education Policy
into the curriculum, the faculty brilliantly crafted the
exercises to make the learning enjoyable, simple,
and experiential in nature.

I am incredibly delighted to see the young minds excelling in class and winning awards
in a variety of inter and intra-school events. Scholar Badge, Investiture Ceremony, Seva
Mela, Steam Fest, Binary Bots, Lotus MUN, Commfluence, Lotus Discourse etc. are just
a few of Lotus Valley's plumes that give students the chance to speak in public,
participate in group activities, gain confidence, and get ready to rule the world. Another
school initiative that helps students choose the best university and course according to
their interests is the regular Career Counselling workshops led by representatives of the
best institutions in our country as well as foreign universities.

As I conclude, let me express my gratitude for the tireless efforts of Director Principal
Ms. Anita Malhotra, her capable Vice Principals, staff members, students, and—most
importantly—parents, without whose support we could not have been so resilient and
sustained during this time.

The thoughts of O.G. Mandino resonate with me, “If I persist, if I continue
to try, if I continue to charge forward, I will succeed.”

Wishing every member of the Lotus Valley
Family a successful, productive,
cooperative, and supportive New Year!

What sculptor is to a block of marble, education is to the soul.- J Addison

The blossoming of any seed into a strong plant requires
nurturing, care and optimum conditions. "To Motivate
the Late Bloomers, To mould the Mediocre and To
Challenge the Gifted” is the laudable teaching notion at
Lotus Valley. While academic excellence is our major
thrust, the school is also devoted to preparing the
students for life, grooming them to face the challenges of
tomorrow, and encouraging them to be socially relevant.

The need of the hour is to make our children ready for Mrs ANITA MALHOTRA
global citizenship. We are in the midst of a paradigm State & CBSE Awardee
shift taking place with barriers getting dissolved and
boundaries slowly blurring. It is imperative for our
learners to be willing to embrace people from diverse
backgrounds and cultures.

It was Margaret Mead who said, “Children must be taught how to think, not what to
think,” and to enable this, the school’s dictum of knowledge, imagination and innovation
is encouraged through a holistic approach which is praiseworthy. Our emphasis on values
and traditions, as exemplified through our assemblies and celebrations, is an endeavour to
acquaint the learners with the rich and glorious traditions of our motherland and foster a
sense of pride and belonging.

At Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram, the meaningful involvement of all
stakeholders: parents, learners, faculty members and management has propelled the
school on the road to success. The distance traversed by the school glitters with several
milestones, awards and accomplishments which are the products of strong teamwork.

I wholeheartedly thank the School Management which is committed to building a positive
learning community that will inspire the leaders of tomorrow. I compliment the Editorial
Board, whose enthusiasm and creativity have enabled us to bring out yet another issue of
Cascade. They have craftily encapsulated the events of the past year and captured the
unique expressions of the students in the pages of this magazine.

Even as we impart education to match the advancement in technology and
globalization, we march our children ahead with the school’s ethos of moral
values and principles.

‘The whole purpose of education is to
. turn mirrors into windows’.
