FRIEND
Everyday in school is a joyous journey in
making,
Together with friends we see our life shaping.
My best moments are still the days of school,
I made friends with likeminded attitude so cool.
We eat junk food and sometimes red cherries,
All in all creating sweet and everlasting
memories.
Catching yellow school bus and fights for
seats,
Play pranks and chats & jokes but never ever
cheats.
Sharing is not limited just to homework and
lunch food,
Helping each other in joy and sorrow is so
good.
Whenever I feel stressed and confusingly sad,
You bring my stressbuster pizza n garlic bread.
Those petty issues and crazy annoying fights,
Still you remain silently always within sight.
Snap chat, texting, tik tok, insta, bonds us
together,
Nothing still beats our endless nonsense
chatters .
Studying, bunking, homework we do together,
Sharing secrets with sparkling giggling
laughter.
When Thunderous days or darkest nights seems
unfair
Friends saves and brings relief against all the
despair.
Showing the right path even with scariest fears,
sounds of friendship always pleasant to ears.
Friendship is indeed precious for we friends,
Purely priceless with never ending trends.

SCHOOL MEMORIES
Sweet and melodic chimes of early days
Were better than ring bells school plays
Casual fun and carefree kindergarten time
I try to live somehow in school break time
Unloading homework and sleeping late every night
Waking up early morning remembering dreamy sight
Rushing and hushing, up and go get ready
Holding books and bags walking un-steady
Why Time passes in blink, me landing school late
End up standing in que as punishment, I hate
Forgets the pain in company of lovely friends
Sitting and chatting together is never ending trend
Laughter and playing never hinder gaining knowledge
Teachers love and smiles always injects courage
Sharing our lunch box is beyond a pledge
Takes away any fight or any hidden grudge
Those small in between breaks of classes are the best
Noise of laughter and shouts sound as chirpiest
I forget exams and burden of homework as day ends
Sweet memories of these school days must never end

A DAY IN SPACE
Tara was a clever girl and she always wondered what it would
be like to live in space. She asked her teacher about it and her
teacher told her many new things. All of these things were
going inside her head all day. Then it was time for her to
sleep. When she woke-up she was in space and not only that,
but she was sleeping upside-down. Then she realized that she
wasn’t feeling thirsty as she usually did. She had to brush her
teeth now. After she did so, she realized that she had to
swallow the paste or spit it out on a napkin. She chose to spit
it out on a napkin but still a lot of the paste stayed in her
mouth. Taking bath is not possible in space, so to stay clean
we have to take a sponge bath. The food that is send in space
missions is quite nutritious but the astronauts cannot taste it
so the same happened with Tara. Now she had to exercise and
this is very important as you do not have to fight gravity.
There are many equipment and 1 of them is the cycle, but
with no seat. It was a tiring day for Tara and now it was time
for her to sleep. When she woke-up the next day, she was in
her bed and realized that it was just a dream.

THE BOY WHO CHANGED HIS DESTINY
Once there lived a boy named Tom who had got separated from his family when he
was very young. He didn't know who he was or who his parents were or where he
lived, Tom just knew that he was a very ordinary boy who had been separated from
his family. We are talking about a boy with no talents, money or anything that is
needed for survival and a poor ordinary boy who had unknowingly changed his fate.
But that truth remained hidden until one day, he happened to pass by an old man
who changed this ordinary boy's life into something beyond his imagination. That
old man was his key to fortune in life. But even that man didn't know what Tom was
capable of. Now you might wonder how an old man could change anybody's destiny,
but that was the truth.
It was a cold winter morning when the poor boy was casually walking on the street
when suddenly he jumped in front of him and said to Tom, "You have to come with
me to the land of Time". Tom was startled as he didn't even know the man or such a
land even existed. The man explained that he just had to trust him and follow his
lead. Tom agreed but he was still wary of the man. He took out the hand of the clock
out of his coat pocket and swished it in the air and a door materialized in front of
him. Tom didn't know what to say. He saw something extraordinary which laid in
front of him. It was an amazing sight for Tom as he had never seen anything like this
before. There were thousands of air-hovering trains, flying cars, jetpacks etc. He had
entered the world of his imagination. The old man said that I recruit kids from all
around the world who think they can't do anything but actually do wonders here with
the latest technology and ideas. The boy got very happy and excited. He suddenly
thought that if these kids thought they could do then why not me !
He became the first person who invented a spaceship that could travel at the speed of
light and could become invisible when wanted. This proved as an huge opportunity
for everyone who wanted to explore space and for defence purposes. Tom himself
travelled through space and discovered the planets and the universe's secrets. He
became a well reputed inventor and professor and earned fame. He lived a happy life
then onwards who was a nobody turned into a genius. So, if you believe in yourself,
you can do wonders and achieve anything you set your eyes upon.

Checking my Instagram,
on repeat, on repeat every single day, forever, daily.
Liking strangers weird, funny, vids and pics,
that pop right up on my feed.
The only thing I do is increase my snap score,
starting from rookies to being the sophomores.
I am just way too trapped inside my house and with my phone.
Parents always breathing down my neck, my privacy is now a joke.
Dad jokes every dinner with weird food combos are now a regular show.
"Your room is always messy", mum shouting from her bedroom door.
Listening to my teacher's cracked voice through the poor network zone.
Human interaction is now a limited edition, my life is now filled with restrictions.
Apple would be richer if they release a sanitiser, mask is now a handy air purifier.
This online life is making my eyes hurt, taking up my sleep time leading to late wake up.
I am not switching on my video, still half asleep in my dirty clothes,
other kids with gelled up hair thinking they are awesome folks.
Sitting all day, sitting in my chair, looking at the teacher through the tablet screen,
sometimes I think I have turned into a brainless organ less zombie.
Getting everyday privileges are like passing the 198th level of candy crush - one wrong
move and you are out of luck.
This time I was supposed to explore myself, but the only thing I learned that China is not
a trustworthy friend.
Corona has been on world tour since the start of 2020, its popularity is 10 times more than
that of Katy Perry.
The amount of influence it has, from Italy to Macao, I am surprised how it still lacks an
official Insta account.
If Corona was a religion, its followers would be covidiots, Karens in the background
making life a lot less hilarious.
Vaccine is fashionably late, taking so much time that now our hopes are out of date.
People like me are so used to it now, we forget that corona actually exists.
Marvel and DC heroes are now replaced by doctors and cleaners, its ironic how people
had to meet a deadly virus to realise it first.
Some people are getting paranoid, some really don’t care, wish corona would go back to
its hometown day care.

Life is a play of humans and things

Like a journey with lots if jerks
Life is sometimes sweet like a piece of chocolate
And sometimes difficult like making a new mate
It’s a machine which sometimes gets disable
Like a kid who never stands stable
Life is like an amazing roller coaster joy ride
Full of happiness and pride
LIFE OF A PLANT
My life started from a tiny little seed
Buried in darkness and no one to feed
with all my strength I struggles to pop out
there comes some light to the little sprout
amazed to see the world around
I began to cheer with the purpose I found
Knowing I could grow with a strong base
I started to walk with my own with grace
Soon I had a stem and leaves still grounded to earth
I reached bigger heights with all my efforts worth
Bearing rains, winds and struggles to survive
With a dream to beautify the world I could thrive
Buds pooped out, I knew it was the hour
Few opened up to become a beautiful flower
Colorful and tall I stood to provide shade as a tree
Reaping the fruits and flowers I gave for free!

A family is a string,
Which has a lot of joy to bring.
God gave us the biggest gift at birth,
The chance to create joy and mirth.
Staying together in hard times to care,
Helping each other and living to share.
This is what families do,
Growing together on the way too.
COVID19 came out of the blue,
Now its time to tell differences, adieu.
Mother earth is feeling our pain but by not
thinking of others,
We are putting her happiness in chains.
Day in day out,
People are crying loud.
If we stop doing bad,
The world will no longer remain sad.
Mother earth is hearing our cry,
With every new day she is asking us to try.
So from now on smile more smiles,
And while helping others, go an extra mile.
Spread positivity and cheer,
And you will see the world coming near.
WHAT’S UNDER THAT SMILE?
She walks in the room with the brightest smile one would see
One might be determined that she is filled with glee
Then she takes a bathroom break and leaves her friends hanging
Until her friends started the door banging
She told them that she would just take a minute
Soon she pushed her limits.
Now let’s talk about the girls perspective, shall we?
About the cuts and bruises on her knee?
Or why she always wears a hood,
Is her mental health really that good?
One day she hears her friends NIA RANJAN
Talking about her drama that never ends, IX - HIMALAYAS
She trusted them, LOVED them,
Treated them as her personal gems
But alas! They were just using her,
For her riches, diamonds and fur.
This broke her, it really did,
She cried and cried like a 6 year old kid.
Soon it deepened and cuts and bruises started appearing,
As soon as the pain was beyond her bearing.
This is what they call self-harm
Yes, I am talking about the cuts and bruises on her knee and arm.
At dinner she lied,
She wanted to push everyone out, she really tried.
But the lady on the table and her old man,
Didn’t buy anything she said with the if’s, but’s and can’s.
She finally broke down one by one,
Spilled everything, even that she was going to end it with a gun.
She did it. She finally had everything off of her chest.
With everything off of her shoulder, her mind really did rest.
She is now the free woman she always wanted to be,
Now her 6 year old self is proud with glee
She can thank her parents and everyone around her
Who supported her, not caring about the diamond and fur.

The Indian news channels. Ah, what a delight it is to watch people talk about
irrelevant topics. The Indian news media is what many would call a synonym for
ignorance. But they’re not wrong. But it remained unnoticed until the pandemic
when all of us have been confined to our houses indefinitely. The fear of COVID-19
was such that we would constantly want an update on the number of cases or the
progress of the vaccine. Initially, the fear was so much that we would check our
phones every 5 minutes to make sure we had missed nothing. But most of us would
turn to our TVs and switch on the news channel only to find that ironically, Covid
was nowhere to be found.
These channels were so busy talking about anything and everything apart from what
was right in front of them. Their greed for TRP was such that they were ready to
create news, to keep their audiences hooked to the TV screen. But we all know how
that turned out, so back to regular news then?
Well, no. The problem lies deep within, and a part of it lies within the audience. We
as an audience always crave to see something that’ll entertain our ears and give us
something to gossip about, next time we’re doing some ‘Chai par Charcha’ with our
friends. And the news channels consider it their moral obligation to give us just that.
Some present it peacefully while others will scream at you through a screen trying to
force a line of thought in your head. Nonetheless, they stand uncorrected.
What we do not know is that this hinders our intellect and often divides us as a
community. Creating news out of nothing is an art that these channels have perfected
in, and this often leads to heated arguments within the audience. These channels now
use these arguments as content to get more people to agree with them, and the cycle
repeats itself endlessly. It’s less about what happened and more of how you should
feel. Hence, we become part of a majority without once analyzing the matter
ourselves.
By blindly consuming their content, we tend to believe in an opinion that isn’t ours.
We become a part of the majority that is usually wrong. We need to evaluate the
news for ourselves and only then form an opinion. Nowadays, independent
journalists such as Faye Dsouza, Andre Borges and Dhruv Rathee are doing notable
work to examine all the current happenings in the country, and offering you the
freedom to form your thought process. We need to understand that our opinion
shapes the country’s social environment, and thus we must stop the consumption of
the news that spoon-feeds us, and takes away our freedom to think. By being a part
of the majority, we deafen the sounds of the minority, and we divide the nation
unknowingly.

Mary checked her watch again - it was 11:30 pm. Midnight. She was still 11 miles
from her house and her car had broken down. Her mobile phone indicated the
death of its battery. She cursed under her breath. The car care service was going
to take at least half an hour to reach there and mend the car.
On top of this, she was tired of fighting the case in the court- she lost and was
very upset… This was too much for Mary. She couldn’t live like this! Her life was
colourless! She thought of resigning from the job. Maybe being a lawyer was not
the very best thing in the world… There are loads of other options too! She thought
to herself. That’s when she heard a loud honk. She looked off the window,
astonished. Oh! It was just the car service truck. No problem. Mary sighed.
Her car was towed to the car care centre. She nearly tumbled out of the car, deep
in thought… That’s when Mary noticed a kid in rags, sleeping on the roadside. He
was very skinny and it was obvious that he hadn’t had food for days. She felt too
sorry for him. She had to do something! That’s when she noticed a restaurant at
the end of the road.
She left the centre and went to the fast-food place. It was called ‘Majestic meals’,
and on reaching the entrance, she could already catch the aroma of freshly baked
cheese in the air. She went in and bought a small dinner box. A soft, glowing smile
spread across her face, as she walked out and found the little child still sleeping
where she had seen him before. Carefully clutch on to the little box, she crossed
the road and walked to the child. Gently caressing his head, she woke the boy. He
had deep brown eyes which said a lot about his suffering- showing Mary how lost
and helpless he was. She gave him the dinner box with a warm smile on her face.
The boy slowly took it and held it carefully in his wounded, little hands. Like it
was a box of treasure.
He thanked Mary and told her that his name was Timothy. He had lost his parents whe
n he was very young and…. Honk! Honk! It was her mended car…
ready to zoom…
That’s when an idea struck Mary like lightening: She knew exactly what
she wanted to do. After these ten successful years as a lawyer, she had earned lots
of money, which was of no use to her. She decided to build an orphanage for
children like Timothy, who had no one to look after them. She decided to give her
life a fresh, new start.

Many years went by. In her apartment, instead of a young woman in pitch black
and perfect white- formal clothes, they’re sat on the old armchair a beautiful old
lady. She had a wrinkled face and a soft, glowing smile. She was wearing a
colourful warm sweeter and a long woollen skirt. Sitting by the fireplace, she was
sipping a cup of hot cocoa and looking at some photo frames on the wall, beaming
with satisfaction and tears of happiness in her joyful blue eyes. This was
eighty-year-old Mary, reflecting the best forty years of her life….
There was a picture of a big cottage, which looked like it was from a fairy tale due to t
he surroundings fragrant roses growing around it with three small swings and a stable
of cute ponies and horses. The cottage also had a banner on top of it saying ‘CASTLE
OF CHILDREN’ Mary was there
in front of it, standing with around 80 children and 50 more women, along with thirty
house helps, beaming with happiness. They were at the grand opening of Mary’s orph
anage…
The orphanage was a wonderful place. I was packed with chatter, laughter and
sometimes soft cries. It gave out peaceful vibes and was filled with all the things
that were essential for a growing child-there were clean bedrooms with bunk
beds and hygienic bathrooms, a medical room with some nurses and doctors,
some classrooms for the children’s education, an art room, a library with so many
books and also a toy room with was loaded with goodies for the little ones…
Behind the mansion, there was a small lake like structure which was a swimming
pool, a badminton court and an open ground. All for the children like Timothy
who were left alone on the streets. The children led a life of comfort… the cooks
and teachers loved them like their mother so that they never felt the sorrow of
being away from their parents. Many of them were adopted too!
After finishing their education they found themselves jobs and became
very successful in their fields-you could see so many
of them in the picture, smiling with golden awards in their hands. This way went Mar
y’s last and best forty years of her life…
So more than her success in the field of law, she loved her orphanage and her
children in the orphanage… And oh yes-the memory of young Timothy would
remain in her heart forever…

HEART OF THE FOREST
It was a cold morning. Julia and Sumner, two best friends were out cycling on the empty
roads of Garvela Hills. The wind was howling gently. “It’s really cold, Sumner. I think
we should stop at the bus stand ahead and put on our jackets.” Julia said. Sumner
nodded. They stopped at the bus stand, parked their bicycles by the bench, put on their
jackets, ready to continue cycling. Just as Julia mounted her bicycle, she felt something
drop on her head. “Sumner, look, snow! We can’t cycle while it’s snowing. We’ll have to
find some place where we can stay for a while.” She said. They loved the snow, but it
clearly meant a little pause to their cycling journey. They walked ahead, dragging along
their cycles. Right ahead was a forest. After walking for a few minutes, they reached a
bench; the trees provided some shelter and they decided to sit there for a while. Few
minutes later, they heard a rustling in the bushes behind them. Then it stopped and
started again; only this time it was louder. They both looked at each other and nodded.
They slowly inched their way into the bushes. They saw a tiny rabbit and giggled. Just
as they were turning around to go back to the bench, they saw something tall and brown;
strangely it wasn’t a tree. “A tree isn’t flat.” Julia said. “Maybe we should check it out.”
Sumner ,suggested. Though she was a little hesitant at first, Julia agreed. She was on
Sumner’s heels as she ran towards the giant brown object. As they came nearer, they
realized it was a door.
“A door, blocking the entrance to a cave? How’s that possible? I don’t think we should
go beyond this door. It’s locked anyway, and we don’t have the key.” Julia said. Sumner
stared at her for a moment, and then said, “Why are you so scared to explore things? I
don’t even think there’s anything harmful behind that door, or it would have already
harmed us.” Julia replied, “I’m not scared to explore. Just a reminder, normal caves
don’t have doors. Also, remember, we don’t have the key, so there’s no way of opening
the door.” Sumner sighed and started walking back to from where they entered the
forest, Julia followed her. Suddenly, they heard a gushing sound. They pushed the trees
aside and peeked out. “Oh no! We’re in the middle of a snowstorm; these trees are so tall
and thick, no wonder snow is not falling here! We can’t go out there.” Sumner said. “I
hate to say this, but we have no option but to turn back and go deeper into the forest.”
Julia said, sighing. Sumner happily skipped back towards the cave. Julia followed. They
pushed past the trees and continued walking for a while, until they reached the cave.
“We can stay here until the storm is over, but how’re we going to find the key?” Julia
asked. “About that… Oh yes, I know! It’s obviously under here!” Sumner said, pointing
to an area of ground next to door. Julia was not so sure, and Sumner could see it in her
look.

The light got bigger as they ran towards it. At last, they reached the source of the light.
“Oh my goodness, look at this! There’s heaps of jewelry here!” Julia exclaimed.
“You’re right! And taking a few of them won’t hurt.” Sumner said, excitedly. “I’m not
very sure.” What is they belong to someone?” reasoned Julia. “At least one of them?
Please? I want to gift it to my mother.” requested Sumner. “Fine, but know that it’s
wrong.” Julia said, disapprovingly. Sumner looked carefully and selected a silver
necklace with a pink pendant. As they exited the cave, they saw that the tree leaves
were dried. Julia took the necklace from Sumner and kept it back. When she came
outside, the leaves were normal again. She said, “Sumner, I think these jewels are the
Heart of the Forest, and are needed to keep the trees alive. We can’t take them.”
“You’re right. I was wrong to be greedy.” Sumner said. So they locked the door, hid
the key and decided to keep the Heart of the Forest a secret, never to share it with
anyone.

THE END OF THE TERROR OF COVID-19
I know that we all are fed-up of covid-19 and we aren’t going to school or see friends or
go to malls or markets but that’s all about to change because of the covid-19 VACCINE
The covid-19 vaccine was made by a company named Pfizer that stands in United States
Of America New York Manhattan. They tested the vaccine through a clinical trial. My
father works in a company called “orphan reach” which is clinical trials company in
London.
He explained to me that a clinical Trial is where a company like Pfizer make medicines
and vaccines and test it to see if it works through a 3-part process.
The 1st part is by testing on 10 to 20 patients to make sure the medicine or vaccine
doesn’t have any bad effect on patients
Step number 2 is by testing it on 50 to 100 patients to make sure the medicines or
vaccine have a good effect on patients.
And lastly step number 3 is testing the medicines or vaccine on 500 to 1000 patients to
prove that the medicines or vaccine actually works.
Pfizer is on the second half of the third step. Then the vaccine’s chemical makeup will
be copied and delivered to the rest of the world. Then we can all go back to our normal
lives. A big thanks to Pfizer for helping to end the rein of covid-19.

THE UMBRELLA OF HOPE…
We humans have harmed the planet in such ways that cannot be reversed. Things
have gone out of hand. The planet has been suffering and the magnitude of
destruction has increased manifold. People have been careless and carefree!
However, now the time has come. It is imperative that we as children of the future
make realistic, practical and conscious efforts to save our planets.
I specifically have got a recent opportunity from school to become a SHAN warrior
– As a part of a BEST (Breathe Easy Stay Tough) Science Club managed by the
Lung Care Foundation of India and sole representative of Grade VI from LVIS, I
want to take this opportunity to share how we can make a difference:
Do our bit –
Often, we throw out waste – leftover food, garbage, papers, cans, plastic and what
not, thinking that it is important to just keep our homes clean – let there be waste
outside on the streets or in water bodies and that it will not matter – someone else
will clean it, no one will notice, everbody does it and so on. However, we are
wrong. Even the smallest amount of garbage can contribute a lot in creating
pollution, harming the environment and creating disaster
Remember, pollution is not the only problem; the wastage of resources is
something that people often forget about. We feel that it is okay to leave the lights
open when we are out; charge our devices for a longer amount of time than needed
and so on. These are all situations where we waste resources. If we continue to
waste non- renewable resources, then nobody but we will suffer. We are
responsible for our own actions. For example – DO NOT BURN CRACKERS
THIS DIWALI!
Reduce carbon emission and footprint to help decrease global warming and a
simple step to do that is to ban the use of plastic, use efficient sources of energy,
use public transport etc.
Help others and remind them of their responsibility –
Speak out when you see someone doing harm. Voice your opinion but in a polite
manner, with respect lay down the cons of what their actions are leading to.
Many a times, you will face opposition, but regardless, continue to foster a sense of
responsibility by practicing what you preach. One day people will realize.
Don’t shy away from telling elders in your family as well in case they are doing
any such act of harm towards the environment. Remember charity begins at home.
In my society I am responsible for ensuring that people bifurcate waste as dry and
wet and put them in separate containers, post which some of it is retreated and
recycled to make compost
Spread the word and be a part of the movement

“Well, look around, all over the ground grass, but look at this spot, there’s no grass here.
Someone obviously dug it and put the key there!” Sumner said. Julia smiled. And just as
Sumner had said, the key was right there. They unlocked the door to reveal a bright light
at the end of the cave. “Should we go there?” Sumner asked. “I suppose so.” Julia
replied.
Wherever you get opportunity, make a difference, tell your classmates/peers/classmates
just like I used the opportunity today. I attend webinars on this subject where industry
experts, doctors and corporate leaders come together to discuss, tackle this issue and
appeal to us students to do our bit. I contribute by way of suggestions, sharing notes with
others, writing on social media platforms, appealing to general public etc.
Net-net, actions speak louder than words. The planet seeks immediate help which can
only be given by taking action, not by speaking and making promises which are never
kept!

TRIP TO MUSSOORIE AFTER LOCKDOWN
Mussoorie, is a hill station in Uttarakhand. When we planned to go, we had to take a test
to check for COVID19 and in that we all got negative. So, on my birthday, 15th October
we started our journey at 6 AM. When we reached Dehradun, my father’s friend took us
to a hotel and there I cut my first birthday cake. Then we set off to our hotel, JW Marriot
Walnut Grove and reached there at about 2 pm. We kept our bags and then took a tour of
the hotel. We went to the kids’ den and played some games. We relaxed and then went to
eat dinner.
Next day, we went for site seeing to Landour. I was thrilled when we were traveling
up to Lal Tibba. From Lal Tibba we could see huge mountains. They looked amazing.
Then we visited some churches. Finally, we ate lunch at Cafe Ivy and from there we saw
many beautiful, tall trees. We ate the best, tasty and fluffy pancake. Then we came back
and played badminton and tambola. In tambola we won the bottom line.
Next day, we went to Kempty Falls. There I saw water gushing down. I even put my
hand in the chilled, fresh water. We could see the water flowing through the rocks and
some of the small rock pieces looked very beautiful. We went to the highest point to see
the starting of the waterfall. But it seemed to have no starting point. The people there
were very kind and explained to us about the area. Then we came back to the hotel.
Relaxed, played tambola and ate dinner. Next day we ate breakfast and left for home.
We had a great trip as we took all the safety precautions. I am happy we could go.

BOOK REVIEW
This year I had the pleasure of reading 'The Brain that Changes Itself' by Norman
Doidge. It was a truly eye-opening book which highlighted the feats of
neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity sounds like such a big word, but it is easy once you
break it down. 'Neuro' means neuron, and 'Plastic' means malleable or changeable.
All in all, neuroplasticity means that the brain can change, and is perpetually altered
by every encounter and every interaction. So, every time someone tells you that the
way you are now is the way you will be for the rest of your life, you can take
satisfaction in knowing that it's not true and that you can change yourself. In fact, you
can rewire your brain with just your thoughts to cure previously incurable obsessions
and traumas. Another interesting fact that I took away from this book was that that
the more socially and physically active we are, and the more we participate in
mentally stimulating activities, the less likely we are to get Alzheimer's disease or
Dementia. This book is full of interesting facts and is a really good read.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC
The sound of Music makes me think of a flowery garden and refreshing breeze.
People across the world have different choices of music. Some prefer fast paced beats
while others like soft music. Some listen to rock music while others go for unplugged
to quench their musical thirst. This is another way to say that everyone in this world is
different and yet admire the same thing in varied flavours. When the lockdown was
announced, I realised that listening to songs and dancing on their beats with friends
would be over. Though I can listen to music at my house, I miss visiting the
restaurants with my family which played background music while we ate our
delicious delicacies. My little brother who is also interested in music and hums
inadvertently while he builds his blocks tower and so does my mom while she cooks.
Music knows no bounds and can tread its way from anywhere. I have set my alarm
with the tune of my favourite song so when I get up in the morning I feel fresh and
start the day by feeling happy. These days me and my friends enjoy doing online
karaoke of different songs to improvise our singing or just to have fun. Music is not
only in instruments but it’s everywhere around us. In vessels, spoons, rustling of
leaves, chirping of birds, a tin of sugar and even at night when everything is quiet, one
can hear the clock ticking. It is also in our soft drumming on the dining table while we
wait for mom to serve food. When I listen to music I forget what’s going around me
and find myself entering a divine, musical world. The world has such amazing voices
and that encourages me to become a better singer. When I dance on songs, I try to feel
the lyrics in my head. I think music has the power to take us on an emotional journey
and make us feel happy or sad or inspired without actually going through those
situations. When I try to pen down my thoughts I take ideas from the lyrics of one of
my favourite songs and then writing a story doesn’t seem so hard. My parents
encourage me to become a better singer and express my thoughts and emotions
through them. I like the tunes of music just flow through my head and make me relax.
Be it the ‘laiys’ of Kathak or the beats of Hip Hop.
I just feel music is JOY TO THE SOUL.

They attract bees who have stings
Some are beautiful while some are colourful

Missing those days…
{Waiting for those days}
Missing those days when I used to wake up at 6 o’clock with the alarm of my parent's
voice holding a glass of honey and lemon water. I used to look for my father's lap with
sleepy eyes to rest for some more time. Missing those days, when we used to listen to
suprabhatham every morning. Missing those days, where we used to get ready for school
in a hurry. Missing the uniform and my student council badge which I used to pin on my
shirt with a pride.
Missing those days where we used to run to the school bus holding papas’ hand,
forgetting either ID~ Card or homework books at home, and mamma running behind us
holding those things which we always forget. Missing the bus guard greeting our parents
every day, the bus nanny who always said to my sister "Apne Bahan ke sath beth jao" as
if I am a toddler. Missing Sathvik, a grade-1 boy who always says his name like
"Saqhuick". Missing Deepali ma'am always standing at the main gate at the time of bus
arrivals and missing those moments while searching for friends at the bus bays. Missing
the crowd and crashing of school bags and pushing each other on the staircase at the
junior foyer.
Missing those housekeeping bhayyas standing on every floor to assist us. Missing those
classrooms, filling gradually with students. Missing those hugs which we used to give to
Divya ma'am as she entered the class. Missing those silly questions which we used to
ask Divya ma'am and gossips with my friends. Missing how my friend Kavya calls me
"Nonithaaaaaaaa" although my name is "Nonitha". Missing Divya ma'am for excusing
us for every mistake by saying "that’s ok dear”. Missing those times when we used to
come back to our class after P.E. and spot the Hindi teacher sitting at the teacher’s desk
and all of us used to start singing together “Su prabhat adhyapika ji, apka swagat hain
kaksha teen mein.”
Missing the large crowd in the girl’s washroom before lunch. Missing the noisy crowd in
the corridor before lunch when it was time for work education. Missing those
exclamatory marks in housekeeping bhaiyya’s face when we were going back to our
classrooms from vocal music class and the corridor was filled with the ouches as we
used to sit on the floor for a long time. Missing those days when I used to go to all the
classes to mark the attendance every dayMissing the lunch time where we used to share
our food with each other, especially Anshika’s cutlets, Simmar’s paranthas, Gurleen’s
popcorn, my noodles and curd rice.

Continued……
Missing those days when we used to play trading at lunch time with our food. Missing
our headmistress Ritu ma’ams sudden visits. Missing those teacher’s day celebrations
where mamma made me where the same saree like Ritu ma’am. Missing my favourite
swimming classes. Missing those moments when we used to wait for our turn to be class
monitor. Missing the long waiting queue at water stations after every PE and skating
class. Missing those moments when we used to skip skating classes purposely by
making silly excuses to get some playtime. Missing those inter-school and intra-school
skating competitions where I used to win medals. Missing the chocolate mousse of the
cafeteria.
Missing those days when we used to practice for our choir, annual function, coronation
ceremony and assembly practices. Missing those great moments when I received student
council membership badge and school star’s badge. Missing the announcements of
principle ma’am during school hours which we used to listen to very carefully. Missing
those days when we used to count the stars against our names on the star chart board
behind Divya ma’am’s desk and felt very proud to get more stars than others. Missing
those Friday awareness sessions with the senior students about the specially abled.
Missing my favourite Mogly, swimming and speech and drama classes. Missing those
rushy home times with heavy bags and empty stomachs.
One day I was living, happy, safe and sound
I thought my life was still prestigious and abound
Now I know this pandemic came for a cause
It came to show me how fortunate I was
What I learnt at my dear school is
There is nothing to deny
All you have to do is look at it the right way and enjoy
Don’t try to look for the loss
Try to find a way to put it to a pause.
“My thoughts might blur away in the dark, but the memory of my school will always be
a light in the dark.”
Appreciation for Safety and online classes
Respected Madam,
I am Aditya Sundaram (IX Shivalik’s) parents read your interviews last 2
weeks about school reopening.
I really appreciate your view about school opening you mentioned in HT
that you will assess the situation and same for practical classes which
demonstrates how you are taking care of our children’s Safety. It clearly
shows how you are committed, dedicated Safety as priority which gives a
great confidence to the parents to send our Kids to such a great, wonderful
school.
As time flies Half year term is going to complete by end of the month and
with great teachers who taught online classes. It is another milestone and
biggest achievements from your side and teachers who teaches under
COVID-19 situation as they do have challenges/constraints in their
homes. As I know I am working from home last 6 months it is very
challenge to concentrate fully due to some distraction.
The above words are not enough to praise your leadership, commitment
and great support to students, teachers and parents. It is a great school,
teachers, students and parents.
Regards,
Sundaram and Kala
Respected Principal Ma'am,
Thank you so much for your kind words for Aadya and we really thank Lotus Valley
School under your esteemed leadership, for shaping up my daughter's future.
In such tough times during Covid, I will also take this as an opportunity to extend our
thankfulness to all the teachers and especially Olympus Class teacher Ms. Sneha
Mukherjee for making such great efforts to ensure that all students are being
benefitted from the current online classes. The way the teachers are taking care of all
the queries of Aadya, is greatly appreciated.
We are very happy for all teachers who are taking continuos pain to upload
worksheets and guiding our kid to resolve issues, if any.
Also, the way the Half yearly exams are planned across 2 days of 1hour 30 minutes
each, is really very helpful for all and also the date sheet is very well prepared.
Such flawless planning and execution is only possible under a great leadership and we
are really greatful to you, for this.
Just wanted to share our overall feedback and wanted to extend once again our
thankfulness to you and all the teachers of grade X especially Olympus.
As parents, we never felt that there was any impact of Lockdown on the studies and

Thought share on show by Nightingales Grade I
Respected
Anita Malhotra Mam
Principal
Lotus Valley International School, Gurgaon
I am glad to share my thought on behalf of parent of Rishit Ayan (Grade I-
Nightingales) on today's show on subject of "GOOD HABBITS AND MANNERS".
What a beautiful show it was. I congratulate all kids for their extraordinary
performance and their enthusiasm for this. This was not only a show this was a
learning concert for us too. Beginning of the show with your prayer and beautiful
message till the end was a big hit. Rishit was waiting to see you also. We thoroughly
enjoyed this show.
During this time of pandemic you planned for this show on virtual platform but we
felt we were in Lotus valley auditorium and connected to every kids. Best thing
related to this show was that every kids were very happy and excited for this
performance. To see happiness on face of kids is the best gift for any parents. So
thanks a lot for this beautiful thought from the Lotus Valley Gurgaon Team under your
leadership.
Overall I will appreciate the way Nitika mam was able to organize and coordinate
every kids at this very tender and growing age for this. Nitika mam is doing her
marvelous job in class as well.
Great job mam and a round of applause to all kids, their parents and teachers.
Thanks
Best Regards

Thank you
Respected Principal Ma'am,
Hope things are going well and you are keeping safe.
To begin with, congratulations on the successful completion of Term I.
It is commendable to note that even in such unprecedented times, the
school has not only been successful in conducting online classes with such patience, but also
managed to conduct online HY exams with sincerity and fervour. The very fact that we as parents
were given the important duty of invigillation made me feel very responsible. I was proud to be a
part of this process and ensured that I encourage my daughter to do her papers with full honesty. I
would also like to sincerely thank you for the important step taken to discourage children and
parents who did not follow this process honestly. The lesson and values you have been able to
inculcate in our children through this process cannot be learnt anywhere outside.
I would also really like to take this opportunity to thank Kriti Ma'am for patiently handholding us
through the process of mock tests, google drive set up, scanning and submission of papers in time
and ensure that no parents/children were in panic or facing issues during this time. Her constant
effort in also ensuring that correct marks were uploaded, report cards were sent in time and all
queries were answered well in time is appreciative.
Overall, the sheer commitment and effort shown in the whole process until the last point reinforces
my belief in the school as always, since I am sure a lot of leg work, deliberations and guidance must
have gone in by all of you to make this happen so smoothly. It almost looks like normal times again
:)
Lastly, please do let me know anytime how I can contribute to the success of the school.
Thanks and regards

Respected Principal Ma’am,
Can I take this opportunity to thank everyone at Lotus Valley International School
who have gone out of their way in order to provide care for my daughter and the
other children during this situation. I am so very grateful.
I really appreciate all the work “Shalini and Ishmeet Ma’am” are doing to set work for
their class. This has especially helped me as I am working from home and it has made
things less stressful, I just have to encourage and support my daughter to do it.
Thank you to everyone who is stepping up to ensure the students are staying healthy
and safe, and still continuing to learn, during COVID-19. Teachers are balancing the
challenging demands of simultaneously teaching/working and parenting. I want to
acknowledge this difficult work, particularly as we are all navigating uncharted
waters together.
I am not surprised by the speed, innovation, creativity, brilliance, sensitivity and care
that I have repeatedly seen in Shalini and Ishmeet Ma’am demonstrate during this
crisis. Education may look different right now, but the commitment and care that
teachers are providing to the students is exceptional.
Please accept my sincere gratitude towards your hard work, initiative, and flexibility.
Be healthy and well!
Yours Sincerely

Good Afternoon Maam,
I just wanted to write and let you know that the celebration of International Day of
Older Persons today was a brilliant concept and well implemented. I could see every
child and their grandparents smile with pride this morning. It was a beautiful sight.
Drihaana was anxiously waiting for this day.
I have literally seen her grow into a very confident child in the last few months.
I want to thank you all for the effort and time that you put in by planning and
educating our children. The class teachers efforts are praiseworthy and words are less
to appreciate all that they do for the learners.
Thank You again for providing the children with such quality Education.
Stay Safe and I pray and hope our kids are able to attend school soon.
