COUNSELOR IN TRAINING CIT PROGRAM INFOMATION The C.I.T program will run in conjunction with four of our popular summer programs: Rec Park Playground, All Day Discovery, Beach Buddies, and Warrior Sports which run for seven weeks. Once C.I.Ts have applied and have been accepted, they can register for the specific week or weeks they would like to attend. Andover Recreation staff will ultimately determine which program C.I.Ts will be placed. Applicants may note their preferred location on their application, but these requests are not guaranteed. Through supervised group leadership opportunities, C.I.Ts will learn the skills and responsibilities that are required to become an effective leader. While C.I.Ts are not technically staff members, they are treated with the utmost respect and are trained to potentially take on the role of a counselor in the future. Please note that participation in this program does NOT guarantee being hired as a staff member. C.I.Ts take from the program what they put into it. Interested participants can pick up/print out the C.I.T Application Packet beginning on February 9th, on our website: www.AndoverRec.com. C.I.Ts should thoughtfully fill out the Application Packet in its entirety and return it in person to the Andover Recreation office by the April 3rd deadline. Applications will not be reviewed if they are incomplete. Andover Recreation Staff will review applications and acceptance/rejection notifications will be sent out on April 26th. If accepted, C.I.Ts should visit or call the office (978-623-8340) to register for desired weeks. Registration is based on a first-come first-serve basis. C.I.T training will be announced in June, and is mandatory. You may not participate in the C.I.T program if you do not attend training. IMPORTANT DATES February 12 - Application Packet available online April 3rd - Deadline to submit C.I.T Application Packet April 8 - April 19 Interviews will be set up with applicants April 26 - Acceptance/Rejection decisions mailed out June 5 - Accepted C.I.T deadline to register for weeks TBD Mandatory training for all accepted C.I.Ts IMPORTANT INFO Andover residents only may apply for the C.I.T program. Cost: $200 per week ($120 July 4th week) Schedule: The C.I.T day is from 8:30am - 4:30pm or 9:00 am – 3:00 pm depending on which program you are placed in. *Please note that participation in this program does NOT guarantee being hired as a staff member. WHAT IS THE CIT PROGRAM? Andover Recreation will be offering a Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T) program for Andover residents entering grades 8, 9, or 10. This program is designed to give those selected the opportunity to learn and develop leadership and teamwork skills at one of our popular summer day programs. The C.I.T program is the perfect fit for those students who want to not only improve on leadership and responsibility, but also want to experience aspects of being a true program counselor. The program will provide students with training and hands-on experience with day to day activities, under the supervision of program Directors and Recreation Staff. 24
