Best practices
Duration
• Typical online event is 1 hour. If more, break into multiple sections with breaks in between but stay in the call throughout.
• Log in 15 min early.
• Stay on for an additional 30 min as consultation hours. Students can opt to leave.
Co-host feature and multiple screens
• First few classes, bring a buddy as co-host to help manage chat room, timing, question queue.
• You can also use 2 monitors or 2 laptops so chat, participant list, etc can be in another screen.
Tools for presenter
• Annotation/white board to grab attention
• Good lighting on face and external objects
• Use virtual background to avoid distracting background
• Use kahoot/quizizz to engage students during break time
• External webcam to show external objects (can share webcam straight to participants)
• Headset so presenter can move around
Other key points
• Register participants so we can organise (for example, assign into breakout rooms, gauge audience size)
• Record only speaker view to protect privacy of participants
• Practice Zoom with a group of people, see who can find the cool features
