AN ODE TOVOGUE+PHILANTHROPY
By KIM MEYER WEBB
FASHION
Photography by RETT PEEK

RACHEL SIMS believes authentic relationships build better
communities. “I love how everything in Little Rock feels so local. It seems
like everywhere we go, there’s a connection to discover – whether it’s
the boutiques, eclectic restaurants or even CARTI.” Next month, Rachel
will welcome guests to Festival of Fashion for an evening of Champagne
wishes that blends the best of the Capital City into an unforgettable
< and very VOGUE > evening of fashion + fun. Proceeds support the
exceptional patient care that CARTI provides and its finite focus on each
family’s cancer journey.

As a registered nurse practitioner with a compassionate heart for
service, Rachel was initially introduced to CARTI through her breast
reconstruction patients. “I walked through a hard, but joyous times with
these women and heard about their amazing experiences at CARTI,” she
explains. Rachel realized “a connection with CARTI” and “wanted to
volunteer in any way possible.” Much like her professional perspective,
as her clients become friends and she is invested in their lives, her civic
leadership blends seamlessly into good times for a greater good. Erin
Hohnbaum, her closest confidante and proprietor of E. Leigh’s Boutique,
encouraged Rachel to join the committee for Festival of Fashion –
recognizing the power of philanthropy and fun. “What’s not to love about
the city’s most stylish event? Fashion and friends celebrating the lives
that CARTI saves.”

CARTI is the largest, private cancer clinic in Arkansas and remains
steadfast in its mission to make treatment available to as many Arkansans
as possible. With its all-inclusive cancer treatment center and statewide
network of clinics that administer radiation + chemotherapy, CARTI
serves more than 23,000 Arkansans annually.

It’s the focus on the complete wellness of each patient at CARTI
– including programs that provide emotional and spiritual support –
that impresses Rachel. “From my first visit to the new CARTI Cancer
Center, I realized – in addition to the amazing care that CARTI gives its
patients – how gorgeous and peaceful it is. That’s a perfect combination
and where I want to always send my patients.” CARTI Foundation
Director Michaela Johnson adds “CARTI’s priority is to make the patient
experience convenient, comprehensive and enriching while providing the
most advanced cancer treatment available. Our patients and their families
are our highest priority and our mission includes making CARTI’s world-
class cancer care easily accessible to all Arkansans.”

The resilient spirit of survivors is evident throughout the Central
Arkansas and the resounding adoration for the CARTI family of
caregivers is undeniable. It’s intertwined in the cancer center’s legacy of
service – spanning more than four decades – and the lives that have been
saved as a result. Rachel reflects, “I love hearing the CARTI stories of
hope and healing.”

AS JUNIOR LEAGUE of Little Rock embarks on nearly a
century of community service, the organization continues
to transform the lives of women and children – cultivating
civic leaders and advocating for the health + wellness of all
Arkansans. Under the leadership of Holiday House Chairman
Lauren Hardy, JLLR welcomes guests to the annual shopping
extravaganza that boasts more than 160 merchants from
across the country and generates more than $410,000 annually
to support the group’s mission fulfillment work.

The committee members, comprised of more than 50 women
who work 365 days each year in preparation for the annual
event, recognize the pivotal role the Holiday House plays in
the organizational capacity of JLLR. “Knowing that every
child in a school is going have school supplies and be better
equipped to learn as a result of our work as the Holiday House
Committee is rewarding and it’s fun to serve with others who
have a heart for volunteering,” explains Lauren. “There is just
something magical about being a part of something that is
bigger than any one person.”

Junior League of Little Rock community projects include not
only Stuff the Bus, but a portfolio of services like Little Rock
Readers and Booster & Big Rigs as well as tenured programs
like KOTA Camp in partnership with Camp Aldersgate.

The revenue from Holiday House supports these initiatives
and many of others with an emphasis on school preparedness
+ wellness. “We continue to evolve our special events to offer
even more reasons to come enjoy the festivities,” Lauren
notes. Jingle & Mingle, featuring Lost Forty Brewing crafty
creations, showcases three Capital City favorites, “With
beer, barbeque and a band – it’s a the perfect date night
or a fun evening out with girlfriends who prefer a more
relaxed atmosphere.”

Lauren, along with the leadership committee of Holiday
House, guarantees the reason for this shopping season is
two-fold, “Unique gifts and raising funds to help with each
and every wonderful Junior League of Little Rock community
project… it is an Arkansas tradition that inspires us all.”

incisions, less post-operative bruising and reduced recovery time - most
patients are back to a normal work and social life within 14 days.

DOES A SMARTLIFT WORK AS WELL AS A “REGULAR” FACE LIFT?

For the right patient, yes! A SmartLift is more than a “mini” face lift,
which only offers modest improvements in facial sagging, and actually
involves more tissue remodeling in the neck and lower jaw than a
traditional face lift with less tissue trauma.
NON-SURGICAL OPTIONS - a healthy glow with very little downtime

ULTHERAPY - firm, lift and tighten skin

Ultherapy non-surgical skin tightening can help reduce jowling or firm
skin around the eyes, neck or décolletage with only a day of downtime.
Treatment takes a few hours or less and most patients notice an
improvement within a few weeks of treatment.

BOTOX & FILLERS - smooth wrinkles or enhance features

Quick results that will last well into the new year, injectables are the
perfect pre-holiday treatment to smooth wrinkles, soften lines around
the nose or mouth or add fullness to cheeks and lips.

SKINCARE – maintain that gorgeous glow

Resurfacing treatments such as peels, lasers and microdermabrasion
help slough away dull, damaged skin cells - reducing the appearance
of fine lines, sun damage and hyperpigmentation with little to no
downtime. There are also home skincare options that nourish the skin
and slow visible aging.

Professional guidance is key to beautiful, timely results with skincare
- be sure to consult with our licensed skin care team, led by a board
certified cosmetic surgeon, to determine the best products for your skin
type and concerns.
