At the Heart of the CareLink Mission...
Supporting Older Arkansans in Home Care
Throughout life, many of us are always looking for new opportunities to master more skills and relish in our accomplishments. We do not
consider the day will come when we can no longer care for ourselves. And when it does, there’s sometimes a question of who can help. That’s
where the services CareLink provides become a resource for many Central Arkansas families. Reema Patel, RN and Nurses Supervisor training
CareLink’s caregivers, realizes the critical support the organization provides through its diverse and meaningful programs.
Twelve years ago, Reema began her nursing career at a local hospital. Before joining CareLink in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic,
Reema considered returning to a traditional hospital setting. But she soon discovered the transformative nature of home care. “You get to build
long-term relationships with people in home care. It also helps reduce rehospitalizations and allows people to stay where they are comfortable
in their homes,” Reema explains. “It’s where they thrive.” She graciously adds home care is not for everyone; it requires a generous heart,
compassion and patience.
When she’s not cultivating community connections, Reema is administering care plans and working with the various teams to provide
older Arkansans with the quality care they require to remain in the comforts of home. She also trains new CareLink caregivers. As a result of
a new offering with personal care attendant training partially online, Reema notes an increase in applications. “Whether they have a previous
background as a caregiver or not, people are coming into the program passionate about home care.”
For more than 40 years, CareLink has connected older Arkansans with resources to meet the opportunities and challenges of aging. Learn
more about services and support programs – CareLink specialists are available to visit with you.

ARKANSAS BLUE CROSS & BLUE SHIELD, STRATEGIC ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE
PHOTOGRAPHY BY LORI SPARKMAN PHOTOGRAPHY
WHY UA LITTLE ROCK?
“UA Little Rock offered the ability to commute to school and still
maintain a job within Little Rock. The concurrent opportunity for work
and education was tremendously helpful in having a lot of real-world work
experience when I graduated college. My employer’s generous tuition
reimbursement program enabled me to pursue education without financial
worry. I was also extremely interested in UA Little Rock’s programs for
the arts. Although I ultimately pursued degrees in business, I enjoyed
fine arts classes and was active in the theater program throughout
my undergraduate studies. The MBA I earned at UA Little Rock has
consistently provided validation of my passion for high-quality education
and commitment to personal development. The program is recognized
by business leaders throughout the state, and I’m often asked about my
experience in its pursuit.
Working in the health insurance industry, I draw upon the knowledge
gained at UA Little Rock daily. UA Little Rock has proven its curriculum as
substantive to Arkansas businesses, and I’ve benefited from the great work
of previous alumni in demonstrating the value of our educational pursuits.
Tragically, in the last semester of my MBA studies at UA Little Rock,
my mom was a victim of homicide. In response, I founded a non-profit
organization to make a positive impact on the safety of our community.
Without the business principles learned at UA Little Rock, the task would
have been much more difficult.”
Affordable and relevant, a great metropolitan university is critical to the
infrastructure of a vibrant city. It also requires a strong alumni association that’s
engaged in civic and business leadership throughout the Capital City. UA Little
Rock boasts both – with a shared vision for the future.
As UA Little Rock celebrates the success of its alumni, the university and alumni
reflect on the role the institution plays in the continued economic development
of Central Arkansas and the wealth of knowledge is offer current students.

MEET THE CREATIVE RYLEE GRANT
This student dancer shares her experiences...
“Westwind School for Performing Arts is a unique place to be a student if you are interested in the arts. I love this school
because the students and teachers are very social and are not afraid to talk or ask you questions about anything. The
teachers are always so willing to help. It is very different from my last school - from the style, to the classrooms, to the
type of people that attend and so much more. Westwind gives you an opportunity to show off your skills and talents to
the world. Students at Westwind are very unique – all different races and different interests when it comes to art and
the future. They are all super easy and fun to communicate with as well. Overall Westwind is an open school that all kids
interested in the arts should experience.”
ABOUT WESTWIND SCHOOL FOR PERFORMING ARTS
The mission of Westwind School for Performing Arts is to provide an equitable and engaging educational experience that
is enhanced by the arts. We believe that by establishing strong connections between students and the performing arts
community, students will embrace the belief that learning is a creative and enlightening process.
