dedication

Hi there,

First of all, I’d very much like to say thank you! Thank you for being a super fantastical viewer,
supporter, and fan! This guide and my gaming channels wouldn’t be here without your support,
which I greatly appreciate! And a special thanks goes out to the Crimson Co-Op!

As some of you may know, from watching my live streams, I am a Graphic Designer and Gamer.
These two professions have come together in more ways than one and they always seem to find a
way to rub off on one another. This Starbound Indie Guide is where my love of gaming, meets my
love of graphic design and gets mashed together to create this helpful, unofficial guide, filled with all
sorts of tips and tricks I have learned while playing, both solo and with you watching. I have played
over 600 hours of Starbound and is easily one of my favorite games of all time, I hope you enjoy it as
much as I do. That being said, I’d like to dedicate this guide to my super fantastical viewers as my
way of saying thanks! See you at the next live stream!

Enjoy!

character creation

You will need to create your character and choosing your new character
involves making a number of decisions. You will need to decide if you want
to be male or female, what race you’d like to play as, your features, your
outfit, your stance, and pick a name for yourself. Or let the dice decide!

There is currently no way to change your physical appearance or adjust your
race at a later time, so be sure to choose wisely.

Randomizer

If you’d like to let fate decide your character, you can select a race and then use the ‘Randomizer’ (the dice) icon to

randomly create a look for your character. You can also do this when selecting your characters name.

Changing Appearances

Throughout your journey you will find and craft new vanity items and armor that can be equipped in the vanity and

armor slots for head, chest, legs, and back. There are also full sets to find, so you can dress like a Fairy or Cupid!

Game Difficulty

You have three choices for game difficulty which is decided when creating your new character.

Casual: Lose 30% of Pixels on death. Respawn on your ship.

Survival: Lose 30% of Pixels and drop items in your inventory on death. Respawn on your ship.

You can retrieve your items from where you died. Does not drop weapons, armor, torches, or flashlight.

Hardcore: Death is permanent. You will no longer be able to play this character, does not respawn.

the races

There are seven playable races to choose from, each with unique aesthetics such as ship design, and
NPC building architecture. Each race also has their own set of armor tiers and weapon tiers, these offer
no additional features and are purely aesthetic.

Each race will likely have its own unique passive ability upon final release of the game.

History

The Apex, while very similar in appearance to the Humans had breakthroughs in research to accelerate evolution which
lead to the creation of the “Vestigi-Evo Process”. The VEP allowed the Apex to trade physical devolution for intellectual
evolution.

Mingling with Other Races

You will often encounter the other races throughout your
journey. Depending on the race you choose, specific races
may treat you better or worse, although this is only in dialog.
For instance, Apex are often told to “brush your hair” or hear
rude remarks such as “Our kind doesn’t have to worry about
fleas.” These interactions can often be funny if you chat
with other races while out and about on your journeys
on planets.

getting started

Congratulations on getting one of my favorite games! I have been playing Starbound for over two years now
and have spent over 600 hours in-game. Fans of Terraria will find themselves in familiar territory when it comes
to mining for ore to upgrade gear and exploring biomes. In Starbound though, you aren’t in one world, you
have infinite worlds to explore in this vast universe with endless biomes, interesting villages to encounter, and
randomly generated monsters to battle. And did I mention, you have a super fantastical space ship?

Introduction Quest

It is highly recommended if you

you are a veteran player, you can
skip it by checking the box during

Follow the instructions during this
quest. It is a linear path and will

quest journal

I cannot stress the importance of your Quest Journal. If at any time, you are feeling lost or don’t know how to
proceed forward, consult your Quest Journal using the shortcut key or the icon on the sidebar menu.

Often, to get new quests, you will need to complete (not dismiss) all of your current ‘In Progress’ quests. You
can obtain new quests from the Outpost or from NPCs you encounter on your travels.

Obtaining New Quests

You may obtain new quests from
NPCs at the Outpost or random
encounters on planets. A yellow
exclamation mark will appear over
their head if they have a quest for
you. If it is related to main story
progression, they will have multiple
yellow exclamations over their head.

Quest Tracking

Once you have accepted a quest,
to keep track of your current
quests, you can access your Quest
Journal at any time. You can also
Track a Quest or Abandon. Tracking
will put it on your HUD. Here you
can read all the details related to
each quest.

New quests will be indicated with
a blue arrow icon in the quest journal.

The color of the text is important within
the quest descriptions. Orange text
will indicate what items you need
to obtain while green text may offer
tips on how to complete the quest
or where to go to get the necessary
items. Everything else is in white text.

Turning In Quests

When the quest is complete and
ready to turn, you’ll need to return
to the quest giver. They will have
a blue question mark over their
head.

Obtaining Crew Members

Completing side quests for villagers
you encounter may result in someone
wanting to join your ship crew. For
each ship upgrade, you will need at
least two crew members. Complete
lots of quests for more opportunity for
new crew. Access Crew at S.A.I.L.

quests

You will receive many quests along your journeys. Side quests come from NPC’s at the Outpost, tenants, or
random villagers while main story quests tend to come from S.A.I.L or Esther Bright at the Outpost ARK.

Tenant & Villager Quests

Villagers and Tenants offer a large
variety of side quests for the player to
optionally complete. These types
of side quests involve hunting
down enemies, bringing items to
them and cooking recipes. Different
tenant types offer different types
of quests.

Reward Bags

Most all quests result in a Reward
Bag as a reward. The contents
of these mysterious Reward Bags
are based on the difficulty of the
quest. Collecting gifts, cooking &
crafting quests are low difficulty.
Defeating NPCs and growing crops
and medium difficulty. Killing monsters,
building themed homes and capturing
pets are high difficulty.

boss fights

Bosses are very powerful enemies that typically are the end of a main story quest line. They require
skill and strategy to defeat and if you have friends, bring them along to fight by your side. There are
two types of bosses, mission bosses and mini bosses.

Bring plenty of salves, bandages or red stim packs to help keep your health up during boss fights. If
you die, you will have to replay the entire mission - including the boss fight. If you are playing survival, be
sure to bring enough food so that you don’t starve to death during the mission. If you’d like a bonus
buff to help aid you in battle, bring food that offers beneficial perks such as healing over time, speed
buffs, thorns, etc.

mission bosses

Quest Conclusion
Mission bosses are often at the end of a main story quest and include lore that adds to the games
overall story. Defeating missions bosses often results in rare and valuable loot and occasionally a new
codex to read.

Erchius Horror
Found in the Erchius Mining Facility mission. Spreads damaging
beams of energy around it, one at first and then two after you do
your first shot of damage on it. It also spawns a moontant after
each beam phase. Be wary of fall damage and use a movement
booster or tech upgrade to navigate platforms more quickly.

Players must activate all four switches, then return to the bottom
and activate the plasma cannon to damage the Horror. This must
be done three times to defeat the boss.

Drops: Erchius Eye (10% chance), Figurine (5% chance)

Ixodoom
Found in the Ceremonial Hunting Grounds (Floran) mission. It appears
as a giant four-legged creature made of bone and muscle - his muscle
is his weak spot. The player fights this boss with the floran, Nuru.

Avoid the small shots Ixodoom fires and use ranged attacks to
damage his shell to expose his muscle and paralyze him temporarily.
While it is paralyzed, this is when you can do large amounts of
damage. Take out his minions, Ixolings, as they come out quickly
with melee damage.

Drops: Ixodoom Claw (10% chance), Figurine (5% chance)

Asra Nox
Found in the Grand Pagoda Library (Hyotl) mission. She appears
to be a human ninja. She has an energy shield which when active,
you cannot damage her. Asra will turn into a distortion sphere and
bounce around frantically and wields a powerful sword, Solus Katana.

You will want to pay attention to her attacks as they repeat in the
same pattern every time. After her distortion sphere attack, she
will pant and rest momentarily, this is your chance to deal massive
amounts of damage. Having jump buff, speed buff or pulse jump
tech will greatly assist players in this battle to avoid Asra’s attacks.

Drops: Solus Katana (10% chance), Figurine (5% chance)

Kluex Avatar
Found in the Great Sovereign Temple (Avian) mission. Appearing
to be a statue of sorts, it deals great amounts of elemental damage.
It fires powerful laser blasts, can summon ice pillars, and has a
chance to create lava.

Keep moving! Avoid the spheres and projectiles, using bandages
in between attacks as needed. Memorize the attacks and antic-
ipate where to move to stay safe. When the boss flys around the
room, they will cycle their attack stages. Ranged weapons are
your best option with this boss.

Drops: Kluex Staff (10% chance), Figurine (5% chance)

Big Ape
Found in the Miniknog Stronghold (Apex) mission. A giant flying
Ape head will fire powerful laser blasts and explosives at the play-
er.

Look for gaps in his attack patterns for your chance to strike. Be
wary of when you destroy the projectors, as every time a projec-
tor is destroyed, Big Ape deals a massive plasma barrage attack
that is very difficult to avoid. Use bandages and stim packs as
necessary after this attack.

Drops: Miniknog Launcher (10% chance), Figurine (5% chance)

Bone Dragon
Found in The Baron’s Keep (Glitch) mission. After you fend off the
waves of enemies, the Bone Dragon appears with Esra Nox riding
on top of it. It breathes fire at the player and oculus cultists will
continue spawning to hinder and distract the player.

Avoid the cone of fire breath and try to direct it so you don’t have
to try to cross its path is leaves on the ground after the initial attack.
Use melee damage to take out the cultists and a ranged weapon
for the dragon, a staff works really well here.

Drops: Dragonhead Pistol (10% chance), Figurine (5% chance)

The Ruin
Found in the final mission. It flails giant tentacles, fires powerful
cone lasers and summons monsters to fight alongside it. There are
three main attacks here, first is a cone of energy in the middle, this
does a large amount of damage. Second is the tentacle attacks
from the sides, forcing players to the middle. Third it fires small balls
in a random location. Meanwhile, minions will be on the ground
and flying in the air.

Movement is essential. During the first attack, move to the sides.
During the second attack, move to the middle and do lots of
damage. Finally, dispatch minions, avoid the balls and run back
to the sides before his cone attack strikes again.

Drops: Mysterious but rare items

fantastical tip

Bring a Friend

Boss fights can be extremely tough, especially when there
are many enemies on the screen at the same time and
you can’t seem to find the time to heal.

Bring a friend along to help you with difficult boss fights
and it will save you the trouble of having to replay the entire
area, and boss fight, again - and again, and again.

mini bosses

Side Ventures
Mini bosses are not necessary battles but they do often unlock new quests, shops at the outpost and
provide the player with loot for their hard earned efforts.

Dreadwing the Penguin
Obtained from the penguin at the Beakeasy bar in the bottom
of the Outpost. When you first arrive, you will move right,
encountering small penguin enemies and tank penguins who
fire missles. Next, Dreadwing will appear from the sky as a flying
saucer piloted by a penguin. It will spawn more penguin soldiers,
tanks and mini saucers to attack the player. Attacks by shooting
laser beams, swoop attacks and body slams on the ground.

Dealing with the penguin minions is important to avoid a continuous
barrage of missles and bullet fire. Watch the sky for the lasers and
avoid them. Before he slams to the ground, dodge left or right to
get out of the way using dash tech and then perform melee
attacks while it is grounded. A ranged weapon can be used to
deal damage to the saucer while it is flying around in the air.

Drops: Codex Unlocks: Beakeasy Bartender

Shockhopper MK 1
Obtained from the Penguin weapon merchant at the Outpost
with the quest Penguin Weaponry Testing Site. Appears to be a giant
robotic penguin, being operated by a penguin inside its top. The
boss uses melee attacks, ranged missles, flame thrower and
electric balls.

Try to keep a safe distance from the Shockhopper to avoid melee
damage and use ranged weapons for this fight. Use the walls to
protect yourself from the flamethrower attacks and some sort of
double jump tech will benefit the player. Hide from the balls when
they are tossed out moving to the sides of the arena. Shoot or
slash the missles when they are fired to avoid them hitting you.
Successive missles can cause large amounts of damage to the
player and should be avoided at all costs.

extra tools

Upgrades on your Matter Manipulator’s Expansion Slot allow the player to utilize new tools that are
now part of their Matter Manipulator such as Paint and Wire modes. These add fun new features to
players in the game for building and construction of new wired up gadgets (think automated doors).

paint mode

Colorization

Once you upgrade your Matter Manipulator’s Expansion Slot to Upgrade
2, you can utilize Paint Mode. This mode allows you to paint blocks
new colors and remove colors you previously painted.

Painting can be done in a small area or block by block (similar to
block placement methods). Quick select this tool with the ‘Y’ key.
The right mouse button toggles color, left mouse button applies color.

Available Colors

You can paint most blocks and walls Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange,
Pink, Black, or White. You can cycle through the colors with the tool
active. The slot without color is the paint removal AKA erase tool.
Note, not all blocks can be painted.

wiring mode

Connect Stuff to Other Stuff

Once you upgrade your Matter Manipulator’s Expansion Slot to Upgrade
3 (max tier), you can utilize Wiring Mode. Wiring allows players to
control the state of powered items, such as doors and lights, using
wires. You can create basic circuits such as on/off states for lights or
more advanced circuits using logic gates. Quick select this tool with
the ‘T’ key.

Power

Various items offer power sources such as switches to operate items
than can be powered, such as doors and lights. Note, doors hooked
up to a power source, no longer can be operated manually.

Switches

Switches provide power output when pressed or activated (buttons,
pressure plates, light sensors, and proximity scanners). There are also
a variety of switches you can find on your travels across the universe
specific to each race in their decor style.

Gates

Logic Gates accept one or more power input and output a single
power connection. Output is based on the input type and gate
type. When placed, gates appear blue if their power input is “on”
and grey if their power input is “off”. Lots of very advanced circuits
can be created using gates including timers, delays, and more.

Simply click the ‘Beam Up’ icon on the

which is now ‘Beam Down’ to travel to
the planet.

You can also craft Flags which act as
one-way teleporters and can be used
by interacting with your ships teleporter

vehicles

Vehicles are items which can be “driven” by the player to make
traveling go more quickly on ground or by water. Vehicles are
summoned by controllers which also act as a storage mechanism
for the vehicle when it isn’t being used. Vehicles are often acquired
mid-to-late game and can be purchased from Penguin Pete the
Shipyard Captain at the Outpost.

Vehicle Repair

It is important to know that vehicles take damage and must be repaired. If your vehicle takes too
much damage, it must be repaired before it can be used again. To repair your vehicle, simply bring
your controller (left, top) to Rob Repairo at the Outpost (to the left of Penguin Pete) to be repaired
with Auto Chips (left, bottom). Auto Chips can be found in chests or purchased from Penguin Pete the
Shipyard Captain. Vehicles can also take damage from player weapons, so try not to shoot holes in
your boat.

dungeons & villages

Dungeons are open world structures that players encounter on their travels across the universe. You
will also visit dungeons while completing randomly generated side quests from NPCs often located
in villages. The number of dungeons on a planet depend on the planets size.

loot

Shield Generators

Some dungeons have shield generators inside that
protects all furniture and blocks inside the dungeon
from being mined. In order to mine and take the
loot inside these dungeons, the player must destroy
the shield generator. Careful though, sometimes
they explode dealing damage to the player.

Village Dungeons & Guards

Some dungeons, mostly on the planet surface, do not prevent you from mining furniture and blocks,
however, they may be filled with merchants, villagers and/or guards. Stealing is prohibited and if you are
caught, guards will attack you and the village will turn hostile.

fantastical tip

Really want that DJ booth or comfy sofa?

A trick to stealing objects such as furniture is to close
doors behind you. Next, make sure no one is in the room
with you. Now you are free to mine furniture objects without
any villagers getting upset that you stole.

Beware, if a villager comes in and sees you stealing, they will
call the guards. Best to have a lookout or keep a close eye on
the door. If you get caught stealing, that whole area will
become hostile and remain so - unless you kill everyone
before they kill you.

crafting tables

You will need to build crafting stations in order to craft items and progress your character. As you
progress in the game, new crafting stations will become available and you will be able to upgrade
each crafting station to allow you to build new blocks, armor, weapons, tools, etc. Some items can
be crafted on the fly by hand, typically for survival and with minimal choices.

cooking to survive

Cooking is essential to survival in Starbound. If you chose to play Survival mode, like I did, you must
eat periodically or risk starving to death, thus dropping items and losing hard earned pixels.

While there are other ways to ensure you don’t starve other than cooking, such as through purchasing
canned food at the Outpost or finding food in chests and crates, cooking is by far the easiest and
most effective method to survive. To cook, you will need to start with the basics.

navigation & planets

Traveling in Starbound is done using your ships navigation system and traveling
the universe. As you progress, you will also unlock Teleporters for quick two-way
travel between areas you can bookmark and use on your Ship Teleporter Pad.

The players starting planet is completely random somewhere in the universe.
However, you will always spawn on a mostly harmless planet to begin.

navigation

Where to Travel Next

Traveling between planets is done via the Ships Navigation Console, located at the front of your ship by interacting
with your ‘Captain’s Chair’. Traveling to planets within the same solar system (orbiting the same star) has no fuel cost.
I recommend visiting the other planets in your system in the early game, as it is a great way to gather resources.

Traveling outside your current solar system is locked until you complete the Erchius Mining Facility mission which
repairs your ships FTL. Traveling between stars (solar systems) costs fuel, which can be obtained from airless Moons
underground in the form of Liquid Erchius (requires liquid collection upgrade on your Matter Manipulator) or in the moonrock (it
glows purple) using your Matter Manipulator or a Pickaxe. Cost of fuel to travel varies from star to star, but a general rule
of thumb is, the farther away the star, the more fuel it will cost to travel there. Beware of the monsters guarding the fuel
on the moons, don’t let them get too close to you and keep moving!

Every Star (solar system) has at least one airless moon (to obtain fuel) and one strange gate (to access the Outpost).
Some planet types cannot be traveled to, such as Gas Giants. Every planet has unique planet coordinates, as seen in the
navigation console that can be shared with other players so they can travel to the same, identical planet as you. There
are 12.667 quadrillion planets that can be generated currently. Each planet is procedurally generated.

planets

Difficulty

Every planet has a difficulty rating
which relates to the health and
difficulty of the enemies on the
planet, as well as planetary
conditions. Difficulty is split into
7 tiers, None, Low, Moderate, Risky,
Dangerous, Extreme and Inconceivable
(in order from easiest to hardest).

Environment

Each planet has its own environment
made up of planet type, background,
weather, temperature, and plant
type - the biome. While planets of the
same biome may be similar, each is
unique as it has its own mini biomes
and generated structures.

Some planets may require specific Monsters
EPP (enviro protection pack) to survive.
The monsters on each planet are uniquely generated for the specific biome
they are located within. Difficulty of monsters is based on planet difficulty and
their special attacks may vary.

biomes

Each planet is made up of different biomes. Major Biomes are dominant on a generated planet and can
be seen on the planet surface. The temperature, enemies, minor biomes, and weather is dependent on the
planet (info can be found in your Navigation console from your ship before beaming down).

Minor Biomes and Underground Caves are also on each planet. These cannot be the dominant biome of a
planet and typically generate within a Major Biome. Underground Caves can only be found underground
and do not generate on Moons, Barren or Tentacle Major Biomes.

major biomes

AKA Dominant Biomes

The Major Biomes are what is described from your ships Navigation Console and is primarily what the planet surface
consists of. These biomes have their own unique features and monsters. It is important to note, that the larger a planet,
the more Major Biomes may exist on its surface. EPP Modules may be required to visit the planet without dying.

systems. Each star has a random number of planets orbiting around it.

Stars themselves cannot be traveled to, but you can select planets within that
stars solar system, to travel there from the navigation console.

Star Color

The color of the star dictates their
type as well as the difficulty of the

armor & vanity armor

Armor provides protection to the player, passive bonuses to player stats, such as health, defense
and energy, and increases the players attack power. There are four slots available for armor: Head,
Chest, Legs, and Back. Consequently, you also have the same four slots for vanity armor.

Armor basics

Slots

You must equip armor in the armor slots to gain the
bonuses. Vanity armor slots will not grant the player
with any of the armor boosts. If an item is placed in a
vanity slot, it will only affect your appearance.

Equipping Armor

To equip a piece of armor, you need to open your
inventory and drag the item into the appropriate armor
slot. A seperate vanity slot is available for each item so
the player can look they way they prefer while getting the
stats they prefer at the same time.

Available sources for armor are by crafting, trading,
or looting. Armor is not procedurally generated.

Clothing

Clothing is a weak type of armor, the player will begin
the game with clothing. Each piece of clothing can
also be crafted at a Spinning Wheel.

Vanity Armor

There are a number of armor pieces that provide little to
no stat boosts. These sets are designed mainly for vanity
slots. Vanity armor also includes capes, costumes, and sets
are named similarly. Whether you want to be a fairy, a
cowboy or a chef, you’ll find something to wear. You can
also buy vanity pieces from Treasured Trophies at the Outpost.

Vanity sets can consist of 2 - 4 pieces. Some have only a
head and chest, some have a head, chest, and legs, while
some might have a head, chest, legs, and back item.

tech

The player can equip Tech, which are enhancements that provide new abilities. To view and equip
techs, the player must visit the Outpost Tech Lab (on the second floor). Up to three techs can be
equipped at one time; one head, one body and one leg tech. You can swap techs at any time.

Learning New Tech

The Player must first speak with the Lab Tech to obtain
a quest. You must bring items and complete a challenge
obstacle course to unlock the new tech. You will have
to do all three tech quests in order.

For info on these quests and how to complete them,
watch these three videos; ‘How to Unlock Dash Tech’,
‘How to Unlock Pulse Jump Tech’ and ‘How to Unlock
Distortion Sphere’ by RedLace on YouTube.

Tech Upgrades

Each Tech has four upgrades to choose from, you can
unlock each of these with eight (8) Tech Cards.

ship upgrades

Each race has a unique ship based on their culture. As a player progresses through the game, they’ll
unlock additional upgrades to their starter ship. These upgrades provide the player with additional
space on their ship to place objects, new crafting stations, and containers.

Upgrade requirements

Licenses and Penguin Bay
Your ship initially is in a state of disrepair. You will need to talk with S.A.I.L and complete quests to get
your ship back to working order. Larger ships not only can hold more items & decorations but also
allow you to house two more crew members per upgrade.

To upgrade your ship, you need crew members. You obtain crew members by completing generated
quests from NPC’s located throughout the universe (in villages or summoned through tenancy). Completing
quests earns favor with the quest giver and they may ask to join your crew. You can also obtain crew
members from the BeakEasy Bar at the Outpost in exchange for Dubloons. Or you can buy fake licenses
from Penguin Bay with Pixels to avoid gathering crew members. No matter the method, once you have
the license and Upgrade Modules, talk with Penguin Pete, the Shipyard Captain, to initiate the upgrade.

ship crew

Speciailized NPC’s that reside on the players ship are called Crew
or Crew Members. Added Crew Members may require you to upgrade
your ship to make room for more Crew. Crew can provide the
player with many benefits to their ship and themselves. They can
also bring Crew with them to aid the player.

recruits

How to get Crew Members
Crew members can be obtained from most races
by obtaining favor with non-merchant NPC’s
through quests and can be added to your crew
by interacting with them and clicking ‘Hire’.
When on a quest to kill an NPC, you target will
sometimes request you lower your weapon and
they will surrender, doing so allows you to recruit
them. These surrendered NPC’s will always have
the title ‘Outlaw’. Another method to acquire
crew is to hire Penguin crew members from the
BeakEasy at the Outpost using Dubloons. All penguin
crew take the job of ‘Soldier.

As player power increases through new armor,
crew members power will increase as well up to
a maximum of 12.

Party Up
Crew can be brought with the player by adding them to their party. This is done by talking with a
Crew member, talk again to leave them on the ship. When in a party, Crew will follow the player
and a maximum of two Crew can party up with the player at a time. Crew members respawn on the
players ship when killed and teleport to the player when left behind. Crew will follow players almost
everywhere, except into liquid (so leave them behind while visiting Ocean planets).

Benefits of Crew
Your ships Crew can provide benefits to upgrading your ship or a passive effect to all crew members
on board. You can also obtain quests from certain Crew members.

Chemists will offer status effects to the crew, Jump Boost, Run Boost, Rage and Glow.
Engineers will periodically upgrade your ship fuel efficiency by 10%.
Janitors try to appear useful but offer no real benefit.
Mechanics will periodically upgrade your ship fuel capacity by 100.
Medics will offer health regeneration.
Outlaws make good traveling companions as they offer combat support.
Soldiers make good traveling companions as they offer combat support.
Tailors will change the crews uniforms to match yours when you talk with them. Tailors don’t travel.

tenants

Players have the opportunity to become a landlord in Starbound.
This begins by purchasing a Colony Deed from Frogg Furnishings
at the Outpost. Tenants can provide players with pixels, gifts, or a
place to buy and sell items in exchange for a safe place to live if
a merchant moves in.

colony deed

How to Get a Tenant
First, obtain your Colony Deed from Frogg Furnishings
at the Outpost for 750 pixels. In order for a tenant to
spawn, there must be a floor, outer walls, and
a background wall for the entire structure. It is
important to know, doors count as valid walls.
Once the housing is suitable, place down the
colony deed. When the tenant arrives a horn
will sound and confetti will fly. The type of tenant
that appears is based on the furnishings in the house
(i.e. Glitch furnishing will spawn a Glitch tenant).

Tenants will interact with furniture objects, switches
and doors. They may also till soil to farm.

Collecting Rent & Obtaining Quests
The Colony Deed can be interacted with to obtain rent, after the tenant have lived their for a while, which
comes in the form of pixels or gifts. When you interact with the colony deed, the tenant will return to
the colony deed by walking or teleporting to meet you. Stand by the deed to receive your rent or gift. You
can also occasionally obtain quests from your colony deed, as your tenant may have requests. The colony
deed has eight different states, that indicate your tenants current status or your housings status if it is vacant.

The Outpost is a generated structure and base of operations for the player
to buy and sell items, and obtain quests from NPC’s. The player will return
to the Outpost regularly on their journeys and it is filled with NPCs of all
