KERALA RELIEF FUND
136. It is so overwhelming to mention that Mohd. Ijlal Khan, Class X took an initiative to
collect donation for the Kerala Flood Victims. He made Four Donation boxes and along
with his friends approached everyone to generously donate for Kerala Victims. All the
students and staff enthusiastically have contributed to the fund and Rs 27424/- was collected
which was transferred to the Kerala Chief Minister Relief Fund.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT

137. On 27 August, Ms. Achamma and Ms. Kalpana Bhowal attended a workshop on
Disaster Management organized by the District Magistrate (South East). The Programme was
inaugurated by the District Magistrate Mr. Naveen Kumar, ADM Mr.Rajesh Singh & District
Officer Mr. Jagbir Singh along with other officials presented the different aspects of Disaster
Management.


MOVIE SCREENING BY TIMES OF INDIA
138. On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, a special screening of the movie ‘Halka’ was
organized by The Times of India. The movie screeningwas attended by Ms. Divya Kukreja
and Ms. Shaily Ranaon 7 September 2018 at PVR MGF Mall, Gurugram.

GURU VANDAN CHATRA ABHINANDAN – 2018
139. On 12 September 2018, the Bharat VikasParishad conferred the Guru Vandan
Chhatra Abhinandan award to five students of Class X (Prerna X E, Sita X H, Yogendra X

F, Md.Izlal X F and Kashish X G) and three teachers, Ms. Preeti Arora, Ms. Archana
Bhati, and Ms. Soma Ghosh.
SPORTS COMPETITIONS

140. The year brought a lot of opportunities and achievements. The achievements in Sports
are as follows:

 6 South East District Taekwondo Championship 2018 was organized by South East
District Taekwondo Association on 13 July 2018 at Aggarwal Sabha, Sabha
Govindpuri, near Govindpuri Metro Station, New Delhi. 12 students from our school
participated in the championship and won 05 Gold, 01 Silver, 04 Bronze medals. Tanvi,

Championship 2018.
 PSRI WALKATHON
On 22 July, Master 360 NGO Foundation (MSF) in association with PSRI Hospital
organized the PSRI WALKATHON 2018. The chief guest for the WALKATHON was
MandiraBedi. More than 2500 students including 35 from our school participated in this 5
kilometer walk. The students received T-shirts along with the Certificates of Appreciation.
 SUMMER ATHLETIC MEET 2018 (DOE)
The Summer Athletic Meet 2018 was held from 24 July to 28 July 2018 at
ChhatrasalStadium, Model Town, New Delhi. Prince from Class X won the THIRD
position alongwith a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- in Javelin Throw at the State level.
 SUB JUNIOR GIRLS THROW BALL TOURNAMENT (DOE)
The tournament was held on 24 August 2018 at Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Kalkaji
Phase 2, New Delhi. Our team secured the THIRD position at the Zonal level under the
guidance of Mr. Amit Kumar, PET.
 INTER CLASS FOOTBALL MATCH
On 25 August 2018, an inter class football match was organized between classes VII E
and VII F. The class teachers as well as the subject teachers of the respective classes were
there to cheer the children to boost their confidence. Class VII E won the match by one
goal.
 SUB JUNIOR BOYS VOLLEY BALL TOURNAMENT (DOE)
The tournament was held on 13 September 2018 in our school playground. 09 students
participated and secured the THIRD position under the guidance of Mr. Amit Kumar,
PET.
 C.G. ATHLETIC MEET

On 26 October 2018, Bal Bhavan Public school organized the 4 C.G. Athletic Meet.
Five students participated from our school. Mehak (V F) and Aditya Rawat (IV F) won
the Second and Third positions respectively.
 TAEKWONDO SELECTION TRAIL cum COACHING CAMP FOR SGFI
Taekwondo Selection Trail cum Coaching Camp for SGFI was held from 29 – 31 October

2018 at SarvodayaVidyalaya, Rohini Sec 6. Five students from our school participated.
One student got selected for camp.
 PRIMARY ZONAL ATHLETIC MEET
Primary Zonal Athletic Meet was held on 6 December 2018 at Kalka Public School. 40
students from our school participated and won 13 Gold, 03 Silver and 06 Bronze. Our
school won the maximum number of medals.

COMPETITIONS

141. Students participated in a lot of competitions and brought laurels to our school.
 SPELLBEE INTERNATIONAL
The National Level Spell Bee International Competition was conducted on 20 March 2018.
Out of 11 students who appeared for the competition 5 students have qualified for the final
level, that is, the International Level Competition.One of the students, Sanskriti Rai of

Class IX G has secured 94% marks and won a Medal and Certificate of Achievement at
the National Level.
 VERY SPECIAL ARTS, INDIA
A Carom Competition was organized on 20 April 2018 by Very Special Arts India, Vasant
Kunj. Two students from the Special Wing, Samar and Navid took part in the
competition.The Competition was held in two groups, Junior Group and Senior Group and
there were three rounds. Our students participated in the Junior group, reached the Final
Round and won the Second position.
On 27 April 2018 a Computer Festival was also organized for the Mentally Subnormal
Children. Two children from the Special Wing, Mohit Chahar and Farman took part in
this competition and received certificates for participation.
 BOOK DISCUSSION AND CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION
On 21 July 2018, two students from our school, Yukta Sinha and Vishal from the Secondary
Wing participated in the 12 th R.L.Chopra Memorial Inter School Creative Writing
Competition and a Book Discussion round, organized by New Era Public School.
 INQUIZITIVE QUIZ
On 10 August 2018 fifteen students of classes IX and X participated in the Annual
Interschool Quiz, INQUIZITIVE organized by HT PACE at the Talkatora stadium.
 DEWANG MEHTA MEMORIAL IT SYMPOSIUM
On 10 August 2018, 11 students from the General Wing and 02 students from the Special
Wing participated in the Inter School competitions.
 INTER SCHOOL LITERARY FEST
Three students from the Secondary Wing participated in the Online Literary Fest – Literati
2018 organized by Amity International School, Gurugram.
 ONLINE QUIZ AND PECHA KUCHA COMPETITION
On 18 August 2018, IGL (INDRAPRASTHA GAS LIMITED) organized an ‘Online Quiz’
and ‘Pecha Kucha Competition’ for classes IX and X. 12 students from our school
participated where they were asked to make on the spot Power Point presentation on the topic
‘Clean and Green’.02 students were selected for the final round. 24 students participated
in the Quiz Mania out of which 06 qualified for the Inter School Competition with 800
other schools.
 INTER SCHOOL DEBATE
On 23 August 2018, St. Columbus School organized the LalitaShastri Inter School Debate
on the topic, ‘Vikas Ka Mayajaal, Bhartiya Kisaano Ka Haal-Behaal’. Vishal of Class X G
won the BEST SPEAKER AWARD in the event.
 DANCE, DRAMA AND MUSIC COMPETITION BY VERY SPECIAL ARTS
On 24 August 2018, students from the Special Wing participated in the Dance Competition
organized by Very Special Arts and won the SECOND prize.
 FLASHMOB COMPETITION FOR MOTHER NATURE
IGL (INDRAPRASTHA GAS LIMITED) organized a competition for all the schools where
the students shot their dance video on ‘Green India’ and uploaded at

[email protected]. The best two entries will get a chance to perform live at Inter
School Competition. The result is awaited.
 ANNUAL PAINTING COMPETITION BY DSWSC
On 28 September 2018, ‘Annual Painting Competition’ was organized for the children with
special needs by DSWSC (Delhi Society for the Welfare of Special Children) at Okhla
Centre. The competition was organized in three different age groups. 9 students from our
Special Wing participated. 4 students got medals in different categories Aaditya won a Gold
medal, Neeru and Samar won Silver medals and Mohit won a Bronze medal.

 KALA UTSAV BY DIRECTORATE OF EDUCATION
On 25 October 2018, Kala Utsav was held in the “School of Excellence”, Kalkaji. Two
students participated. Samar Khan of Class X won the third position in music at District
Level, Ashish secured the II position in Dance at the District Level and qualified for the
State level.
 PEEK- A- BOO ACTIVITIES/ COMPETITIONS IN THE PRE- PRIMAY WING
Various Activities like ‘Self Introduction’, ‘Alphabet Writing’, ‘Drawing and Colouring’
‘Recitation Competition’, ‘Fancy Dress Competition’, sponsored by Rachna Sagar were
organized from 26 October 2018 to 2 November 2018 for the children of the Pre-Primary
Wing.
 AKSHYA UTSAV
Our students from special wing participated in Dance Competition organized by Akshya
Pratishthan on 5 December 2018. 7 students participated and won a Shield and a certificate.
 INTER SCHOOL DEBATE

The Annual Pavan Chaudhry Inter School Debate was organized by the Lions Club, New
Delhi on 13 December 2018 at GLT Saraswati Bal Mandir, Nehru Nagar. Vishal from class X
won the ‘Star Performer’ Trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- in the event.

CELEBRATIONS
142. The World Autism Awareness Day was celebrated by Action for Autism on 2 April
2018 at the India Habitat Centre. An Art Carnival and Free Consultation Camp was
organized. A team of experts including Pediatricians, Neurologists, Dentists, Psychiatrists,
Psychologists, Communication Consultants and Occupational Therapists were there to
provide consultation free of cost.

A delegate of Twenty-Two children including 12 students from the General Wing and 7
students from the Special Wing along with three teachers, Ms. Suman Yadav, Ms. Saroj and
Ms. Mahar, attended the programme.

 Earth Day was celebrated by the children of the Pre-Primary Wing on 20 April 2018.
Children prepared different charts with thumb printing, finger printing, etc.
 Mothers’ Day was celebrated by the Pre- Primary Wing on 18 May 2018 in the school
auditorium. A brief cultural programme was presented by the tiny tots on this occasion as a
tribute to all the mothers.
 Investiture Ceremony for the Student Council 2018-2019 was held on 18 August 2018
with great enthusiasm and fervour in the school auditorium. This year, our school elected the
deserving candidates for the post of Head Girl and Head Boy in a democratic manner, where
all the students of Class IX and X were given an opportunity to vote for their chosen
candidates. The elections for the same were held on 19 July 2018. Gp. Capt. S C Bahri graced
the occasion as the Chief Guest and showered his blessings on the newly elected members.
Investiture ceremony for the Pre-primary Wing was conducted on 29 August 2018 during
the assembly in the Kiddies Corner.
 Eid and Onam were celebrated on 21 August. Raksha Bandhan was celebrated on 25
August.
 Janamashtami was celebrated on 30 August on the birthday of Lord Krishna, a small
cultural programme was organized by Pre-primary Wing. All boys came dressed as ‘Krishna’
and all girls came dressed as ‘Radha’. Beautiful decorations were put up to make this event
more cheerful and colourful.
 Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 4 September with a lot of zeal and zest. A beautiful
cultural programme was organized by the students for their teachers.

 ‘PRADYOT’- Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 14 September with great nationalistic
fervour including skit on importance of Hindi, songs, dance etc.

 Grandparents’ Day was celebrated on 20 September. There was an overwhelming
response and we had 131 Grandparents with us. On 7 September, the tiny tots of the Pre-
primary Wing made attractive and beautiful cards for their grandparents to bring a smile on
their faces. All the teachers assisted the students with their work. A beautiful cultural
programme was organised in which all the grandparents actively participated. Some of them
felt overwhelmed as well!

 ‘PRAXIS’-WHEN IDEAS MEET ACTIONS - English Language Day was celebrated on
22 September. Various exhibits made by the children were displayed in addition to the
different literary activities. The Chief Guest Gp. Capt. S. C. Bahri appreciated the programme.

 Diwali was celebrated on 3 November 2018, the students of the Primary Wing made
beautiful Origami Candles, Glitter Lamps, Fan Diyas and Wall Hangings using waste
material and the students of Pre Primary celebrated on 05 November 2018 by making Torans,
Lamps, Diyas,Greeting cards using chart papers, paper plates etc.
 Children’s Day was celebrated on 14 November, Ladies Club organized a small
entertainment programme for our special need children in M Block Park G.K.-II. There was
Food, Dance, Music, Games, Tattoo Making, Magic Show and Flying Balloon etc. which
children thoroughly enjoyed.
 Guru Nanak Jayanti was celebrated on 22 November 2018 ‘Gurupurab’ with a lot of
zeal and enthusiasm. The celebration was commenced by Prabhat Pheri led by five children
dressed as Panj Pyare followed by Sangat reciting peaceful shabad.
 Mosaic-2018, the Socio- Science Fair was organised from 29 November to 1 December
2018. There were various events organized which included Recitation, Role Play, Group
Song, Presentation, Rangoli Competition, Quiz, Exhibition and Youth Parliament. Mosaic
wall was also set up and displayed on the entrance of the school.
 ‘SRIJAN’- SANSKRITOTHAN Sanskrit Day was celebrated in our school on 5
December. Students from Prep to VIII participated in various programmes including Speech,
Conversation, Songs and Recitation from ‘Bhagwad Gita’.
 The Annual Sports Day,‘SPIRIT 2018’, was celebrated with a lot of zeal and zest on 15
December 2018. Major General V. N. Kapur, Retired from the Indian Army was the Chief
Guest for the day and Mr. Vikram Singh, a renowned athlete also graced the occasion as the
Guest of Honour.
 Maths Week - ‘XYOM 2k18’ was celebrated on 22 December 2018. The various
activities in the event were, act on days of week by Special wing children, act on value of zero
by Pre Primary wing children, dance on angles by Primary wing children , skit on the life of
Srinivasa Ramanujan, Interhouse competitions such as Maths tambola and Maths quiz
(Mathcon).

AWARENESS PROGRAMMES
143. To keep students updated with their surroundings, several awareness programmes are
organized inside and outside school.
 ROAD SAFETY WEEK
The Road Safety Week was observed from 23 April to 30 April 2018 to create awareness
about road safety measures among the children. Different activities were conducted like
Drawing Competition in Class V, Quiz in Classes VI to VIII and Story Writing in
Classes IX and X. The students took part in all the activities very enthusiastically.

 TALK ON PREVENTION OF VECTOR BORNE DISEASES
On 17 May 2018, Ms. Arpita Chakraborty spoke on the Prevention of Vector Borne
Diseases’ in the assembly. A general question and answer session was conducted to check the
awareness among children regarding these diseases. A power point presentation prepared
byMs. Neha was also shown which emphasised the importance of keeping our environment
clean.

 VECTOR BORNE DISEASES
On 21 July 2018, an awareness programme on DOs and DON’Ts of Vector Borne Diseases
was organised by the Science Department in the school auditorium.
 SADAK SURAKSHA PROGRAMME
To create awareness among the students on ‘Road Safety’, five ONLINE eventsfor Classes I
to Xwere organized from 1 August to 15 September 2018. Out of 34 children who
participated in these online competitions, 21 children bagged the Early Bird Prizes.
 TREE PLANTATION DRIVE BY TALK TO ME
A tree plantation drive was initiated by Talk to Meon 25 August 2018 in the school premises.
Two volunteers, Ms. Bridget Ganguly and Ms. Vaseema Halim fromTalk to Mebrought 40
saplings, which were all medicinal plants. Twenty children from both the groups of Talk to
Me planted the saplings in the school premises.
 SWACHHATA PAKHWADA
SWACHHATA PAKHWADA was observed from 1 September to 15 September in the
school under the supervision and guidance of Mr. Gaurav Kumar, HOD Social Science. All
the children from Nursery to Class X and the entire staff whole heartedly participated and
pledged to keep the spirit alive for ever.
 BEST CLASS AWARDS
In order to motivate the students and make them realize their responsibilities as important
stake holders of the school, Best Class Awards have been introduced from the month of July.

 ‘SAY NO TO CRACKERS’
A rally on ‘Say No To Crackers’ was organised on 3 November 2018. The children from
classes VI to X participated in it. The aim of the rally was to make people in and around of
the school aware of the hazardous effects of bursting crackers.

EXCURSIONS:

144. Education Tours are very important for the overall development of a student. It gives
them an opportunity to learn from their own experiences and from the experiences of others.
 EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION TO JAIPUR
When a student visits a historic place and learns about the history of that place, it feels as if he
is seeing the historic events from his own eyes. Keeping this in mind an educational excursion
to Jaipur was organized for the students of classes IX and X from 12 October 2018 to 14
October 2018. The students stayed at Kanchan Kesari Village Resort, a theme based resort,
which provided a variety of cultural and entertaining activities including an outdoor
swimming pool, traditional and unique magic show, puppet show and Rajasthani folk music.
The places which were visited were, Birla Temple, Albert Hall Museum, Zoo, Hawa Mahal,
Kanak Ghati, Jantar-Mantar and Amer Fort.
 VISIT TO ASOLA BHATI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY AND BUTTERFLY PARK
On 12 September 2018, 55 students from class V went to Asola Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary for
a learning experience amidst nature in the Butterfly Park, accompanied by Ms. Charanpreet
Kaur and Ms. Nupur Ghosh.
 STAFF PICNIC AT VILLAGE MASTI RESORT
On 22 August 2018, a fun filled and memorable ‘Staff Picnic’ was organized for the teachers
at Village Masti Resort. Apart from relaxation and enjoyment the picnic also aimed at
building up team spirit among the members of the staff.
 ADVENTURE CAMP TO e.o.d, MAYUR VIHAR
An Adventure Camp was organized at e.o.d, Mayur Vihar for classes PG to III and IV to
VIII on 01 December and 07 December respectively. The camp provided an exciting and
thrilling experience to the children outside school.

‘JOLITE EXUBERANCE’ – SATURDAY ACTIVITIES

145. The greatest sign of success for a teacher…..is to be able to say, “The children are
now working as if I don’t exist”. From the month of July all the Saturdays have been turned
into various fun filled workshops wherein children don’t open the books but explore the world
through experimenting. With an aim of ‘Learning by Doing’, children are allowed to create
their own world of innovation and experience.
 NON GAS COOKING ACTIVITY
On 28 July, the entire Primary Wing had a Non Gas Cooking activity where all the students
from Classes I to V made finger licking delicious food items without using gas. Class I and
II students made deserts like Jam Biscuits and Fruit Cakes using chocolate syrup and gems.
Class III students made sandwiches filled with mayonnaise, boiled mashed potatoes,
chopped cucumber, tomatoes and grated cheese. Class IV students made Fruit Salad and
garnished them with chocolates, dry fruits and fruit cream. Class V students made Sprouts
using lemon juice, salt and coriander leaves.

 POSTER MAKING ACTIVITY
On 4 August 2018, the entire Primary Wing had a poster making activity on the topic ‘Trees
– Our Friends’. All the students were filled with various ideas to make the poster. They
showcased their artistic skills and were very excited to express their love for trees and nature.
All of them made colourful and beautiful posters. They also promised to save trees in
whatever way they can and make others aware of saving them.

 RAKHI MAKING ACTIVITY
On 25 August 2018, the entire Primary wing organised a ‘Rakhi Making Activity' for all the
students. Students made beautiful rakhis.
 THINK POSITIVE AND BE HAPPY

On 1 September 2018, students of Class VIII F participated in an activity where they had a
deep interaction with their teachers, Ms. Manjula and Mr. Mahesh Sharma regarding their
feelings about life and what kind of problems they face in different situations and talked about
their parents’ reaction at that time. They got the opportunity to express their feelings and
emotions. It was a healthy discussion which took place in a positive environment. Students
also shared jokes, narrated inspiring stories and teachers organized a laughter yoga session,
singing and dance competitions for the students.
 COMMUNITY SERVICE
Students from classes VI – VIII are taken to primary wing where they help the kids in making
pots, drawing, reciting poems etc every Saturday. Students of class V also go to the special
wing to help students with various activities. This activity is conducted to inculcate the moral
values of giving a helping hand to others among children. The children learned to be more
responsible towards their duties.
 CARD MAKING ACTIVITY
On 1 September 2018, students of Classes VI to VIII made beautiful cards for their beloved
teachers as a part of Teacher’s Day celebrations. The children brought material from their
homes for making cards for their teachers. Buying cards from markets was discouraged.
 ‘CHRISTMAS’ ACTIVITY
On 22 December 2018, Primary wing of our school conducted various activities. In class I,
children made ‘Christmas Tree with Ice-cream sticks’. Children of class II made some
‘Christmas Bells’. In class III, children made ‘Christmas Tree’ using paper cutting method.
They decorated it also. In class IV, children made a ‘Santa’ using various geometrical
shapes. In class V, children made ‘Christmas Tree and Stars’ by using colourful sheets,
ribbons, sequins etc.The spirit of giving and sharing was inculcated among our children.
 LEARNING BY DOING
Making learning a fun experience, various methods are adopted which include giving live
examples, helping to relate knowledge with life, experiencing the facts read inside the class
rooms in real. Students of Classes IV and V were told about how a seed germinates and grows
into a plant. Then they were taken out in the school garden where they observed it and
collected samples as they saw how Neem seeds grow into saplings. The parts of a plant were
also taught in the process.

 SWACHHTA ABHIYAN
The spirit of ‘ShramDaan’ is alive and children clean their classes every Saturday. The
children also cleaned the play field and picked up the stones from the ground to make it
smooth for the Sports Day.
SPECIAL WING ACTIVITIES

146. Our special wing students were also involved in a lot of activities to enhance their
learning.

 RAKHI MAKING
Like every year this year too our Children with Special Needs made beautiful Rakhis in
their vocational training programme. The Rakhis were displayed for sale and it is
overwhelming to mention that an amount of Rs. 46220/- was collected from the sale.
 SEMINAR ON ADHD OPEN DAY – 2018
ADHD Open Day was observed on 14 October 2018 at Life Care Clinic, GK Enclave 2.
The seminar was organized by Centre for Child and Adolescent Well Being. The seminar
was attended by Ms. Saroj, Special Educator.
 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
On 3 and 4 December 2018, various competitions were organized by YMCA for the children
with special needs. 19 students participated and won a winner’s trophy each and secured the
Second position in the events.

FIRST PREBAORD EXAMINATION FOR CLASS X

147. The First Preboard Examination for class X were conducted from 10 December to 21
December 2018.

REMEDIAL CLASSES FOR THE PRIMARY WING STUDENTS
148. Remedial Classes are being regularly conducted for the weak students from 12 Noon to
1 pm. The Faculty members of all the departments are working together in achieving the
expected learning outcomes.

149. The 2 Founder’s Day was celebrated on 14 July in Lala Lajpat Rai Public School,
Rahaka Village, Sohna. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. Rajkumar Chopra,
Chairman (SOPS) Delhi. Mrs. Chopra, Shri S. Raghunathan IAS, (Retd.), Former Chief
Secretary Govt. of NCT-Delhi, Chairman – SMC, Gp.Capt.S.C. Bahri, Director, Ms.
Vandana Baberwal, Principal-Second Shift, Ms. Richa Sharma, Principal-Morning Shift,
Ms.Geeta Mallik, HOD-IE/AO, Ms. Chanchal Malhotra (Incharge Special Wing ), Ms.
Indrani Dam, Former-Incharge of the school, Teachers of the Second Shift, Present Sarpanch,
Former Sarpanch of the village, distinguished residents and local villagers graced the
occasion.

A beautiful cultural programme was presented by the students of classes PG to Class
V. The main attraction of the show was a recitation of Koshish Karnewalon Ki Kabhi Har
Nahi Hoti’ by Aashma and Saima. Mr. Rajkumar Chopra, the Chief Guest appreciated the
efforts of the teachers and spoke about the mission of Lala Lajpat Rai and the Society. He
narrated a few incidences from the life of Lalaji whose simplicity, honesty and fearlessness
are qualities which we should imbibe and inculcate in our children. Shri S. Regunathan,
Chairman, addressed the gathering and urged the villagers to send their children to school. He
emphasised that the girl child must be encouraged and educated. He appreciated the efforts of
all the teachers and expressed his happiness regarding the loving and caring approach of the
teachers and advised them to be an inspiration for the children. A Langar was organized for
everyone.


INDEPENDENCE DAY 2018

150. Independence Day was celebrated on 15 August . The Chief Guest for the occasion
was Dr. Amita Rani Gupta, President, Rotary Club of Indraprastha – Okhla . Mr. Narendra
Bhasin, Gp.Capt.S.C.Bahri, Director, Ms.Geeta Mallik, HOD-IE/AO, Ms.Vandana Baberwal,
Principal-Second Shift, Ms. Richa Sharma, Principal-Morning Shift, Ms.Indrani Dam,
Former-Incharge of the school, Present Sarpanch, Former Sarpanch of the village,
distinguished residents and local villagers graced the occasion.

The children of classes PG to V escorted the guests to the venue alongwith energetic
rendition of ‘Kadam Kadam Barahye Ja‘ by the Choir group. It was followed by Flag
hoisting. Children sang the National Anthem with patriotic fervour. A small cultural
programme was presented by the students, Mahi of Class V compered the programme with a
lot of enthusiasm. The highlight of the show was the speech by Naeem and Uvesh of Class I
and a skit on ‘Simon Commission’ by the students of classes of II to V. The programme
ended with the singing of ‘Sare Jahan Se Acha’ .

Dr. Amita Rani Gupta addressed the gathering and applauded the efforts taken by the
Servants Of The People’s Society toward development of the nation by providing quality
education at village level. She appreciated all the performances by the children and the efforts
of the teachers. Refreshments were served to all.

CELEBRATING EID AND ONAM


151. The students celebrated EID and ONAM on 21 August. A special assembly was
conducted. Ms. Abha and Ms. Gayatri spoke about the festival of Eid. Children also shared
their stories regarding Eid. They were told about the relevance of Eid. Ms. Safiya and Ms.
Sadia spoke about the festival of Onam celebrated in the Southern parts of India. It was
heartening to hear that children could share their knowledge regarding boat race during
Onam. The story of Vishnu as Vamana Avtar was shared and how pride can destroy us.
Children were told about relevance of being humble in our lives.During the session children
were made aware of the uniqueness of our country where so many festivals are celebrated and
people of different faiths and religions live harmoniously. Songs related to the festivals were
played and during the day children were shown stories on the festivals. Children enjoyed
watching and listening to the stories.

CELEBRATING ‘RAKHI’.

152. Rakhi was celebrated on 25 August with great enthusiasm. Students were told about
the festival of Rakhi. Throughout the day children were engaged in various activities. It was a
day filled with fun and laughter.


TEACHERS’ DAY

153. Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 4 September with lot of zeal and zest. A special
assembly was conducted under the leadership of the students of Class V. The students of
classes II, III, IV and V were given the responsibility, they conducted the classes and taught
children. Children were given refreshments. It was a day well spent among student teachers!

HALF-YEARLY EXAMINATIONS

154. Half-yearly examinations were conducted from 28 September to 7 October 2018.
Students participated enthusiastically in the examinations. It was in the Worksheet Format for
the classes from PG to Class III. For the classes IV and V Questions Papers and Answer
scripts were given.

A DAY AT BALVANTRAY MEHTA VIDYA BHAWAN-ASMA,G.K.II


155. All the students and the staff were taken to BMVB ASMA G.K. II on 9 October as A
DAY OUT programme, spending time away from home and familiar environment. The
students enjoyed the day at school. They visited the vocational unit, played at Kiddies corner
and watched the movie Kung Fu Panda in the Savitri Devi auditorium. They recited poems

and were very excited to perform on stage. Pizzas and Juice were served as lunch to the
children as a special treat. Everyone enjoyed lunch and it was a memorable day out for them.

BLOSSOMS – A WALK THROUGH THE EVS CURRICULUM

156. Our first Socio-Science week was celebrated from 29 October to 5 November 2018
with lot of inquisitiveness and energy. On the first day of the eventful week students
expressed their views on hygiene followed by Handwash activity, where children were taught
'How to wash their hands properly'. On the second day students from the classes I to V were
taken out for an excursion to Dhamma Sota, Village-Rahaka, Sohna(Haryana) to feel the
peace and positivity of nature. Teachers acted as facilitators as all the activities were child
centered. The final day of BLOSSOMS, was wrapped up with a grand celebration on
"Festivals and Foods of India". The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Vandana
Baberwal, Principal, Second Shift, other guests were Ms. Kalpana and Mr. Bagga. The
programme was hosted by Prachi (Class III) . Tiny tots danced and sang the poem 'Here we
go round the Mulberry Bush', to express Healthy Habits in children. They also performed an
activity on recognizing fruits and vegetables. Primary students performed a skit on "Say No
To Crackers!" and talked about the medicinal plants around them. Each and every
programme was appreciated. Sweets were distributed at the end of the programme to all.

CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS

157. On 24 December, the school celebrated Christmas Day where children sang "Jingle
Bells" and performed a skit on Christmas. Throughout the day children did a lot of activities
like making Christmas Cards, Christmas Trees etc.


Special Assemblies were held on various occasions like - Janmashtami, Muharram,
Dussehra, Chhath Puja, Guru Nanak Jayanti to let the children know about the various
festivals we celebrate in our country.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Late Admiral R.H. Tahilaini, Chairman, School Managing Committee as he has
earmarked 25% of the liquid assets in his will for providing educational and medical
facilitities to the poor and needy. An amount of Rs. 4 Crores would come to Jasbhagti
Charitable Society for looking after the deserving and needy children. After his demise Shri
Tarun Tahiliani has become Chairman and Mrs. Meera Tahiliani is the Vice Chairperson. This
year we have received a generous donation of Rs. 15,00,000/- for awarding scholarships to
under privileged and needy children.

Shri Arun K Jain, Vice Chairman, School Managing Committee for his generous
donation of Rs. 10,00,000/- for installing Air Conditioners in the Savitri Devi Auditorium and
providing a glass of warm milk to 800 students from Class Nursery to III.

Servants of the People Society, Delhi Branch for giving an interest free loan of
Rs. 15,00,000/- towards purchase of a school bus for Lala Lajpat Rai Public School,
Gurugram and scholarships to children.

HDFC Bank for a generous donation of Rs. 15,00,000/- to the school for disabled children.


SShri Narendra Kapoor, Smt. Lata Kapoor and all the members of Arpana France for
their generous donations towards scholarships to our poor and needy children. Shri Narendra
Kapoor visited our school recently and has assured more financial assistance for our Gurgaon
School. The Vocational Training Centre of Gurugram branch of the school will be named as
“Arpana France Vocational Centre”.


Mrs Seema Khaitan, Chairperson –District 301, Mrs Neena Jain –President and all the
distinguished members of the Inner Wheel Club of Delhi, Mid Town for the Tree Plantation
Drive and scholarship for needy children.

Om Satya Mehra Public Charitable Trust headed by Air Chief Marshal O.P. Mehra,
Former Chief of the Air Staff and Former Governor of Rajasthan & Maharashtra and his son
Mr. Rahul Mehra who is one of the trustees for generous donation of Rs. 20 lacs for Satya
Mehra Block for the poor and needy children of our school.


Dr. Geetanjali Chopra, Chairperson–Wishes & Blessings for donation towards Scholarship
for needy children and one treadmill for the training of special need children.


Shri Ravi Sahni, Hotelier and Philanthrophist, senior member of SMC donated Rs. 2 lacs
for the promotion of games and sports in our school.

Shri Ravindra Gugnani, Rotarian for his generous donation of Rs. 5 lacs.


Shri S.K. Malhotra, Mrs Mohini Bawa, Mrs Urmila Chandha, Shri J.L. Minocha and
many more well wishers for their generous donations towards the scholarship for the needy
children of our school.



SCHOLARSHIPS AND FREESHIPS

158. In keeping with the policy ‘Education for All’ of Govt of India, we grant admission to
all children without any discrimination of caste, creed, colour, disability and financial status.
The school consistently follows the ethos of, ‘The Right to Education Act 2009’. The
donations received from Philanthropists, Well-Wishers and Charitable organizations are
utilized for providing scholarships and freeships to poor and needy children. During the
academic session 2018 -19, the school awarded scholarships to hundred children for an
amount of Rs. 4,96,280/-. In accordance with the directives of Directorate of Education, the
school provides 25% freeship under EWS quota to students hailing from poor families and in
the year 2018-2019, 970 students were awarded freeships worth Rs 3,35, 00,000/- approx.

Thus the total amount of Rs. 3,39,96,280/- approx. was allocated and disbursed on
Scholarships and Freeships to children of both shifts during the academic session.

CONCLUSION
It gives us happiness to state that the school has been fortunate to have received three awards
by National Achievers Recognition Forum, Nipman Microsoft and Inner Wheel Club during
the current academic session. These awards are in recognition of Board Results, Values and
Empowering Disabled Children to lead respectful lives. This has been made possible due to
the committed Management and dedicated staff. We firmly believe that:
