SUCCESS WHAT IS LIFE?
Deepak (10 E) Keshav Singhal (9 F)

Life is a long play Sometimes we live

To achieve success, But just to live

We have to work hard, night and day Is not life

Laziness is your enemy, the adults say Life has emotions

Hard work always pays Both happy and sad

Books are always present in your home But just emotions

Read them whenever you are alone Is not life

It will fill your heart with pleasure Success and failures

Because books are your life- time treasure Are the phases of life

It may sometimes seem boring They make life complete

But to fly, you need wings But it’s just a way

People who concentrate Not life.

In future become great Love and respect

It is the right time to wake Are the main elements of life

Because your future is something Which guide us

You have to ruminate But just this

Work more Is not life, then

Talk less and think What is life?
more
We don’t know
Order less and obey
more But we still live it

I assure, you will This question

Succeed more. Remains a question
That’s what is life?

TEACHERS: OUR ROLE MODELS

Shivam Shukla (10 E)
These are challenging times for education. The public holds schools and teachers more accountable for
students’ learning. Some of our most influential and life changing role models are our teachers. Teachers
guide students through each pivotal stage of development. From six to eight hours a day, five days a
week, teachers are one of the most influential persons in a students’ life. We think of the teachers who
taught us academics but we don’t often think of those teachers who taught us life’s lessons. The influence
of a teacher is immense and no one knows when this influence can bring a tremendous change in

someone’s life.

A role model is therefore, one who has some distinguished qualities
of head and heart which the child gets impressed by. Till now, I am
highly impressed by my teachers because of the following qualities:

• A good personality

• Deep knowledge and a great educator
• A good communicator

• A good listener
• A good sense of humour
• Kindness

• Warm, accessible, enthusiastic and caring towards students
• My teachers respect their students at the same time scold them for
their mistakes.

Teachers having all these qualities, will not only be a role model but he/ she will become more than that.
First are our parents and second are our teachers. Teachers help us to touch the clouds and colours of
life. They make us so hard working that we become successful in our lives. A great person has rightly
said, “A teacher introduces us to a new vision of life.” Hence, students should always respect their
teachers because teachers are our role models. MY SALUTE TO TEACHERS!

LIFE’S LESSONS

Anjali Khushwaha (9 G)
One of the hardest things about improving your life is
remembering to practise what you have learnt in a

moment of temptation, frustration or hardship. Anyone
can follow a strategy, but remembering to stick to it in
the real world is tough. Learn how to deal with self-
judgment, so that you can move past judging yourself
and perform at a higher level.

BEST FRIENDS IN DANGER

Yukta Sinha Roy (10 E)

To be surrounded by those who listen to you
And understand what you feel

That surrounding consists of trees, plants and woods

And I love to sit with them

They really freshen up my mood
They may not know how to talk

But they listen to me very well

They are found in many places
YOUR BEST
And also where I dwell
Kush (10 G)
We provide them water daily
If you always try to do your best
And in turn they provide us oxygen
Then you will never have to wonder
This makes our bond stronger About what you could have done

And also helps them grow longer If you had summoned all your courage

They are my best friends. And if even then your best
Was not as good
But due to the greed of some people As you hoped it would be

They are in utmost danger You still could say
Who want to live a luxurious life with ease “I gave today

But perhaps it will make their life more difficult All that I had in me.”
Try to understand this

I have tried my best to save the plants
But I cannot do it all alone.

No humanity persists now
Everyone has been transformed into a destructive demon

Do remember thus that plants exhale oxygen
The most essential for our survival

And once we have lost our lives
There is no chance of revival.

HUMANITY

Anshika (9 F)
Once upon a time in a village, there was a group of four children.
Their names were Rohit, Mohit, Sonu and Meet. They were very
good friends. They always helped everyone and so were called
‘Brave Boys’.

One day, a group of three children came into their village from a
city. They were liked by everyone but not by ‘Brave Boys’. The
‘Brave Boys’ always looked for chances to irritate them. The city
boys always believed in, “A man is known by the company he
keeps”.
Next day, a flood came in the river. In the flood, a buffalo got
stuck, which belonged to the ‘Brave Boys’. City boys helped the buffalo to come out of the river. After
this, they all became good friends and now they believed in UNITY.

Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.

IMPORTANCE OF SCHOOL LIFE

Komal Yadav (9 F)

Nowadays, children do not understand the importance of school life. We should enjoy each and every
moment of our school life. Students don’t value school life; they take leaves unnecessarily. But we
should value the special moments spent in our school life. They include all the special things which we
do with our friends and teachers. Our school is just not a building through which we understand the
things. We learn manners, etiquettes and many more things. We should enjoy and respect them. We
should enjoy our few years of school. As these precious feelings, special moments will never come

back. So we should enjoy, study and understand the importance of school life.

MY FRIEND

Pratibha (6 H)
There’ve been so many times, when I’ve needed you as my friend
No matter what the reason is, you are there till the end

Every time I need to talk, when I’m sad or feeling blue
You understand me and give your honest point of view.

You help me not to be scared
About things I feared

Thank you for the love that you have shown
You knew I would have blown

Thank you for being there
Through every laugh, through every fear.

MY MOTHER
RIGHTS OF A POOR
Amit Negi (7 G)
Kirti (6 H)
Her smile makes
I have many rights
But no one listens to me Flowers bloom with magical fragrance

As I am poor And enchants every breath and touches the soul
No one in the shops
Her eyes are like
Gives me bites
I am not allowed to sit in flights Shimmering water that flows fervently

People treat me as a servant
And captures love in every drop of life
And force me to do child labour

The government is not in my favour Her feelings are
Stop discrimination!
Calm and deep like the shore of a sea
I appeal to the Nation.
Where the cool breeze cuddles every pearl in
oysters

Her heart is

Filled with colourful flowers in a garden

Where motherhood never wilts in any season.

MY DREAM DESTINATION SWITZERLAND
KHUSHI (10 E)

We all wish to go on vacations and enjoy some time; it is something many of us look forward to. I have
travelled to some of the most beautiful places in India, but my dream of spending a holiday with my
family in Switzerland still remains my biggest dream. As Switzerland is one of the most attractive
tourist destination in the world today because of
its lakes, beautiful mountain ranges,
snowfall and many interesting places that
make it a perfect tourist attraction. Why is
Switzerland different and is my dream destination? It
may come as a surprise to many that how a small
country like Switzerland is one of the biggest tourist

attractions on earth. Although known for its
unique and economic banking system, it is
more famous for its numerous lakes, villages
and the high peaks of the Alps. The capital of
Switzerland is Zurich, the country is uniquely
known for its ski resorts and hiking trails. So hikers have no cause for alarm. In fact, it is regarded as
one of the biggest cities in the world because of its modern outlook

STATUS OF WOMEN IN THE SOCIETY

Shubh (6 H)

The status of women in ancient India was quite respectful
however it got deteriorated with the passage of time. Slowly
the practice of polygamy, sati, dowry system, female
infanticide, etc., dominated and gave rise to a male
dominated country. Great Indian leaders have struggled to
raise the status of women in the Indian society. The
government of India has implemented various effective laws
regarding the safety and empowerment of women. In the
Panchayti Raj system, around 33% of the seats are reserved
for women. Thus, women are becoming more conscious and
are coming forward to fight for their rights. IN THE SKY

It is related to time travel. Close your eyes and be with me in the space. Now, suppose a light beam is
directed towards the Earth. Increase your speed, Faster! Faster! more fast to be with the light. What
do you see now? What is time? Is it absolute? Earlier, the father of modern Science [ Isaac Newton]
said that time is absolute. According to Einstein’s theory of special relativity, more will be the velocity
of anybody slower will be its time. And also, the velocity will increase but the length will decrease. And
as the body will come at the speed of light [3*10 m/s] its length will become zero. Hence, it will
8
become invisible.
Let’s take a simple example to discuss this theory further. If a boy of 15 years moved at a great speed
though less than light this time is going to move slower than all the other human beings. That means that
our 1 day can be his 1 minute or 1 second. So if we compare our age to him after 5 years than now
with respect to him. So, his age will be 20 years but if we were also of age before 5 years than now we
will be of 75 years or more. And if the year was 2018. So
now it’s 2093. The boy did something which is called
“Time Travel”. He is now in future. His friends are 75

years old but he is only of twenty years. So, what he is
seeing now is future.
Let’s now move to the General Theory of Relativity.
This theory like the special theory changed the ideas of
Newton. Once one asked Newton that how the moon
revolves around the Earth and the Earth revolves around
the sun? Is there any rope which holds the Earth? If there
is, then there will be different ropes that will be holding
different planets. And the rope which will be holding Jupiter will be stronger than Saturn. But the
answer is no, there is no rope as such. Let’s see what Newton answered? Newton said that the force
by which the planets revolve is same as the force by which the object falls downward and that force is
gravitational force. Well, How can the same force act in two different ways? Let’s understand this with

a quite simple example. Suppose, you are standing in a park and you have a gun [there-alone!!]. If you
shoot the bullet travels some distance in the air and then falls down. So Newton said, “the force by
which the bullet of the gun travels some distance in due to gravity”.
{I have already taken a lot of time in discussing the traditional way of thinking of Newton. So let’s
move to what Einstein thought}

Einstein said that-”Our space is nothing, but it is our bedsheet. Wait What!!! Yes, it is true,
suppose you and your friends are holding the bedsheet parallel to each other. And now you started
pushing it towards yourself. And now it’s my turn, I came and saw you and thought of having some fun.
I took a heavy ball and kept it on the blanket. What did you see now? Though you are stretching the
blanket but it forms a hole like structure where I kept the ball which is our sun, and the hole its
curvature. This theory says that it is due to the curvature of any planet which makes the other celestial
bodies move around it. The more the curvature the more is its gravity. Hope I was able to give you a
description about these theories and you must have enjoyed reading this article.

THE DHABA CULTURE: TYPICALLY INDIAN

Ranjana Yadav
It is rightly said that ‘The key to a man’s heart is through his

stomach’ and I believe it is not just to a man’s heart but it is the
way to everyone’s heart. Food is a reflection of the soul and we in
India get to experience a huge variety. Especially when we talk
about Indian authentic cuisines we cannot forget about Dhabas
which popularly serve typical North Indian food with a Punjabi
flavour. Dhabas can be found across India catering local food and
culture. With time these traditional Dhabas have taken the shape of
modern restaurants like the famous Haveli on NH 1 A which is a sophisticated modern Dhaba. Where
these Dhabas have succeeded in attracting travellers of every class, people prefer these Dhabas over
fancy restaurants because they serve really good, tasty, variety and spicy food at much lower price
which is affordable by the masses. The ambience they create of the open kitchen and open atmosphere
makes us forget all our problems and works as a stress buster for us. The menu has evolved with time
and experience where delicacies and specialities are developed keeping in mind the authenticity of the
food and flavour. Mostly people visit Dhabas to taste the flavours of local dishes at affordable prices
and enjoy the same in an open air environment with friends. The experience is a unique one and one
must visit any Dhaba nearby. It’s a must do thing! Enjoying Indian cuisine: Dhaba style!

THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING
Bhawna Kirar

Positive thinking is necessary in every walk of life. It can be defined as a
thought that leads to the achievement of our goals. Positive thinking gives us
strength and courage which make us successful. It ensures that our lives run
smoothly. With positive thoughts come new strength, new confidence that
encourages us to work hard and achieve our goals. In the same way, if we
have a goal in life, we will surely move ahead. Positive thoughts bring positive
dreams and it leads to the achievement of their destiny.

ARE INDIAN STUDENTS MORE STRESSED THAN BEFORE?
Sweata Mitra
By Education, I mean an all-round drawing of the best in a person in terms of body, mind and

spirit. In these lines the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, clearly tells us that education certainly
is a means to an all-round progress of man. In other words, the pathway to human development goes
through the lanes of education.
Education serves as a means to develop oneself physically, mentally and socially. It broadens our
horizons and gives us a better understanding of the world. But a growing problem in India is that
students are more stressed than ever. In fact,India has one of the highest rates of suicides among people
aged between 15 and 29. Although the reasons are many but failure in examinations, unemployment
and depression are some of the reasons why people put their lives at risk.
A common cause of concern is the pressure from parents to do well in Class X and XII board exams.
There have been many incidents in the past where students have committed suicide either during exams
or on the day of the declaration of result. But what can be so extreme
that students decide to end their lives? Psychologists suggest that
students suffer from anxiety and traumatic disorder relating to the
fear of examination. And the fear not only comes from the school but

also from parents, who go to extreme levels to push their children into
getting better grades. The best time of life, when students are
supposed to enjoy and cherish, is the time they are pushed to extreme
levels. Some of the problems of our society are:
The Indian education system is more inclined towards memorization and takes long systematic study
hours leaving less time for recreational activities and socialization which are considered to be essential
for the development of a child.
The performance of a student in Class 12th determines the choice of college or university he/ she will
get admission in. Students from Science stream go into further stress by giving entrance exams for
different universities and colleges. and the competition is fierce.
Pressure from society:
The Fear of failure to do well in studies is causing anxiety among students which has a substantial
negative effect on their academic and social success. The self-worth of a student is determined by his
academic success and grades and not on the basis of individual qualities that they already possess.
Parents try to get rid of cable connections, internet connections and computer so that their children
could concentrate and get better results.
In the end, I would like to conclude by saying that every child is different and learns at his/her own pace
and we should not draw unnecessary comparisons to make them feel low. Students could develop

their own plans on how to study for long hours effectively. Parents and teachers should help them to
develop their own learning methods and should try to boost their confidence.
With the starting of the board exams, parents should know that, they are just exams and not the end of
the world. The success of someone lies in what they choose to do with their resources, the actions they
take, and not on the grades.

CRA APPROACH

Prerna Thakur
Innovation is just a part of an organization. The students need to learn Mathematics to make their lives
better by taking smart decisions on day-to-day matters. But perhaps one of the most difficult obstacles
is the fear of Mathematics. Fear of Mathematics can easily be diminished by using the CRA approach.

CRA refers to CONCRETE REPRESENTATIONAL ABSTRACT which consists of three steps
that has been found to be highly affective to make Mathematics interesting for students.

CONCRETE STAGE is the first step of this approach which is also known as the Doing Stage. It
involves physically manipulating objects to solve a Mathematical problem.
REPRESENTATION STAGE is the second step which is also known as observation stage. It involves
the use of images to represent objects to solve the problem.

ABSTRACT STAGE is the third and final stage of this approach which is also known as symbolic
stage. It involves the use of numbers and symbols only to solve the problem.

Each stage of this approach builds up over the previous stage and therefore must be taught in sequence.
This approach helps to engage students in an active and creative learning and also allows students to
express their understanding of a Mathematical concept.

THE HOUSE OF ENGLISH GRAMMAR
Bhawna Kirar

In the city of English there is a beautiful house called “Grammar”. It’s a large family of eight members
who live in it and make English beautiful and meaningful. Now let me introduce you to them.
1. Mr. Noun is the father and the bread winner around whom the family spins.
2. Mrs. Verb is the mother who does all the work of the Grammar household.

3. Mr. Interjection, the grandfather brings sudden feeling and emotions to play in his family.
4. Mr. Pronoun is the elder son who takes charge of his family when the father is not present and
busy on tour.
5. Ms. Adjective is their darling daughter who loves to comment on her father’s capabilities.
6. Master Adverb is their second son who is always
behind the mother, supporting her in all her chores.

7. Mrs. Conjunction is the diplomatic grandmother
who brings peace in the house whenever there is
a fight.
8. Preposition is the baby in the family. He is the
youngest son who makes sure he expresses his
relationship and position with the other members
and earns their abundant love.
