INTRODUCTION OF
TRAIN
Trains are an evolution of wheeled wagons running on stone wagonways, the earliest
of which were built by Babylon circa 2,200 BCE.In medieval times, wagonways were
introduced to haul material from the 1790s, stronger iron rails were introduced.
Following early developments in the second half of the 1700s, in 1804 a steam
locomotive built by British inventor Richard Trevithick powered the first ever steam
train.Outside of coal mines, where fuel was readily available, steam locomotives
remained untried until the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 1825.
British engineer George Stephenson ran a steam locomotive named Locomotion No. 1
on this 25-mile (40-kilometer) long line, hauling over 400 passengers at up to what
was at the time a brisk speed of 8 miles per hour (13 km/h). The success of this
locomotive, and Stephenson's Rocket in 1829, convinced many of the value in steam
locomotives, and Railway Mania began across the United Kingdom.
HISTORY/BACKGROUND OF
TRAIN
First train appeared in the year 1804. It managed to pull 25 tonnes of iron material and 70
people over the distance of 10 miles.
Over the course of history trains were powered by steam, electricity and diesel fuel
(although one of the earliest trains in USA was powered by horses that walked on
treadmills).
Currently trains transport around 40% of world’s cargo.
Trains are very eco-friendly, but are expensive to produce and maintain.
First commercial steam train (Stephenson’s “The Rocket”) managed to reach speed of 96
km/h. Today’s trains can go above 200 km/h, and specialized bullet trains to over 500.
Two most famous railway lines are 9,297 kilometers long Trans-Siberian Express which
connects Moscow and Vladivostok, and off course first American railway line which
connected their East and West Coast in 1866 (Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads).
FUNCTIONS OF TRAIN
In rail transport, a train is a series of connected vehicles that run along a
railway track and transport people or freight.

INTRODUCTION OF LRT
Light rail transit (LRT) is a form of passenger urban rail transit characterized by a combination of tram
and metro features. While its rolling stock is more similar to a traditional tram, it operates at a higher
capacity and speed, and often on an exclusive right-of-way. In many cities, light rail transit systems
more closely resemble, and are therefore indistinguishable from, traditional underground or at-grade
subways and heavy-rail metros.Utah Transit Authority's TRAX has 50 stations on three lines. London's
Docklands Light Railway is run by Transport for London. The CTrain is a light rail system operated by
Calgary Transit
There is no standard definition, but in the United States (where the terminology was devised in the
1970s from the engineering term light railway), light rail operates primarily along exclusive rights-of-
way and uses either individual tramcars or multiple units coupled to form a train that is lower
capacity and lower speed than a long heavy-rail passenger train or metro system.
HISTORY OF LRT
Malaysia's efforts to revolutionise commuting began in 1984 when the then Minister of Federal
Territory Shahrir Abdul Samad released details of a light rapid transit (LRT) system implementation
study for Kuala Lumpur. Many were sceptical over its implementation, especially when financing was
a major question. The study, undertaken by a Belgian consortium in association with Spie Batignolles
of France in cooperation with Master Carriage Malaysia Sdn Bhd, was for an urban or suburban LRT
system - powered by overhead electric lines or catenaries. The system - covering 18 stations between
Petaling Jaya and Sentul - was targeted for implementation in 1984 and completion in 1988.[5]
Unfortunately, the project did not take off until 4 years later, when the Government of Malaysia
signed an agreement with Sistem Transit Aliran Ringan Sdn Bhd (STAR). The first LRT line, named
STAR LRT after its owner, was constructed and opened completely in 1998. The original system
consisted of 36 stations along two routes, Sentul Timur – Ampang and Sentul Timur – Sri Petaling
FUNCTIONS OF LRT
The LRT function extracts the log-likelihood of two nested models to compute the
loglikelihood-ratio statistic which is compared to a Chi-square distribution.

INTRODUCTION OF
COMMUTER
Commuter rail, or suburban rail, is a passenger rail transport service that primarily operates within a
metropolitan area, connecting commuters to a central city from adjacent suburbs or commuter
towns.Generally commuter rail systems are considered heavy rail, using electrified or diesel trains.
Distance charges or zone pricing may be used.
The term can refer to systems with a wide variety of different features and service frequencies, but is
often used in contrast to rapid transit or light rail.
HISTORY OF COMMUTER
The first separation between workplace and place of residence occurred as a result of the invention of the
steam railway. The word commuter derives from early days of rail travel in US cities, such as New York,
Philadelphia, Boston and Chicago, where, in the 1840s, the railways engendered suburbs from which
travellers paying a reduced or 'commuted' fare into the city. Later, the back formations "commute" and
"commuter" were coined therefrom. Commuted tickets would usually allow the traveller to repeat the same
journey as often as they liked during the period of validity: normally, the longer the period the cheaper the
cost per day.
Before the 19th century, most workers lived less than an hour's walk from their work. The Industrial
Revolution brought specialization of work and workplaces, and relocated most paid work from households
and rural areas to factories in urban areas.Today, many people travel daily to work a long way from their
own towns, cities, and villages, especially in industrialised societies. Depending on factors such as the high
cost of housing in city centres, lack of public transit, and traffic congestion, modes of travel may include
automobiles, motorcycles, trains, aircraft, buses, and bicycles. Where Los Angeles is infamous for its
automobile gridlock, commuting in New York is closely associated with the subway; in London and Tokyo
and several European cities, "commuter" is automatically associated with rail passengers.

INTRODUCTION OF
CABLE CAR
The cable car, the invention of Andrew Hallidie, was introduced in San Francisco
on Sacramento and Clay streets in 1873. The cars were drawn by an endless cable
running in a slot between the rails and passing over a steam-driven shaft in the
powerhouse. The system was well-adapted for operation on steep hills and
reached its most extensive use in San Francisco and Seattle. The cars operated
more smoothly than did early electric cars, but they could run only at a constant
speed; breaking or jamming of the cable tied up all the cars on the line. Beginning
about 1900, most cable trackage was replaced by electric cars; but the Seattle lines
lasted until the 1930s, and a portion of the San Francisco system continued in
operation in the 21st century.
FUNCTIONS OF CABLE CAR
A cable car (usually known as a cable tram outside North America) is a type of cable railway
used for mass transit in which rail cars are hauled by a continuously moving cable running at a
constant speed. Individual cars stop and start by releasing and gripping this cable as required.

INTRODUCTION OF LIMOUSINE
A limousine or limo for short, is a large luxury vehicle driven by a chauffeur with a partition
between the driver's compartment and the passenger's compartment.
A very long wheelbase luxury sedan (with more than four doors) driven by a professional driver
is called a stretch limousine.
In some countries, such as the United States, Germany, Canada, and Australia, a limousine
service may be any pre-booked hire car with driver, usually but not always a luxury car. In
particular, airport shuttle services are often called limousine services though they often use
minibuses.
In German-speaking countries, a Limousine is simply a sedan, while a lengthened-wheelbase car
is called Pullman Limousine.
FUNCTIONS OF LIMOUSINE
limousines are still used to shuttle the rich and famous, but are also designed to carry much
larger numbers of people. The addition of new technologies and different types of vehicle
available to stretch has led to a rise in the “new style” limos.

INTRODUCTION OF EXPRESS
BUS
Express bus service is a type of fixed route that typically picks up passengers from park-and-
ride lots in suburban areas and takes them to a central urban location. This transit service
usually operates for longer-distance trips on a Monday through Friday, peak commuter time
schedule. These commuter routes have limited stops, typically travel non-stop on highways
(utilizing any available HOV lanes), and terminate at the central business district in the city.
Fares for the service may be comparable to park-and-ride fares, slightly higher than typical
local fixed route service.
FUNCTION OF EXPRESS BUS
Express bus services, typically serve trip patterns that have common origins and destinations
and in not making as many stops as normal bus services to maintain high travel speeds and

INTRODUCTION OF CAR RENTAL
The earliest known example of cars being offered for rent dates back to 1906.The German company
Sixt was established in 1912 under the name Sixt Autofahrten und Selbstfahrer (Sixt Car Cruises and
Self Drivers).
Joe Saunders of Omaha, Nebraska first started with only one borrowed Model T Ford in 1916, but by
1917, his Ford Livery Company was renting out 18 Model Ts at 10 cents per mile. The company name
became Saunders Drive-It-Yourself System and then Saunders System. By 1926, Saunders had
expanded to 56 cities.Saunders' company was bought by Avis in 1955.
An early competitor to Saunders was Walter L. Jacobs, whose Chicago-based Rent-a-Car opened in
1918 with twelve Ford Model T. The company was bought in 1923 by John Hertz.
In Britain, car rental started with Godfrey Davis, established in 1920, and bought by Europcar in 1981.
The sector expanded rapidly in the US; in 1926, the American Driveurself Association assembled over
1200 delegates in Chicago.
The growth in travel after World War II led to the establishment of several well known international
companies, including National Car Rental (1947), Europcar (1949), Enterprise Rent-A-Car (1957),
Thrifty Rent A Car (1958), and Budget Rent a Car (1958).

INTRODUCTION OF TOURIST COACH
Coach tour guiding is an activity in which tour guide assist the tourist’s and explains them
about the important places, people living at the destination, their traditions, rituals, cuisine,
culture etc. Coach tour guiding is an important segment of a tour package. A tourist passes
maximum time inside the coach during the tour. A tour guide can impress group members
by his talent of commentary make. When tourists are walking in a destination, he can see it
and try to understand it. For example: when you are walking in Akchardham temple
premises, you can see temple, icons, beautiful surroundings etc. But, in a moving coach,
only expert guide can draw attention of a tourist towards different things/ places/
attractions passing through very fast. Coach tour guiding is a matter of practice, experience,
know-how and attentiveness. A person working meticulously can work as a coach tour

INTRODUCTION OF BICYCLE
A bicycle, also called a bike or cycle, is a human-powered or motor-powered, pedal-driven, single-track
vehicle, having two wheels attached to a frame, one behind the other. A bicycle rider is called a cyclist, or
bicyclist.
Bicycles were introduced in the 19th century in Europe, and by the early 21st century, more than 1 billion
were in existence. These numbers far exceed the number of cars, both in total and ranked by the number of
individual models produced.[4][5][6] They are the principal means of transportation in many regions. They
also provide a popular form of recreation, and have been adapted for use as children's toys, general fitness,
military and police applications, courier services, bicycle racing, and bicycle stunts.
The basic shape and configuration of a typical upright or "safety bicycle", has changed little since the first
chain-driven model was developed around 1885. However, many details have been improved, especially
since the advent of modern materials and computer-aided design. These have allowed for a proliferation of
specialized designs for many types of cycling.
The bicycle's invention has had an enormous effect on society, both in terms of culture and of advancing
modern industrial methods. Several components that eventually played a key role in the development of
the automobile were initially invented for use in the bicycle, including ball bearings, pneumatic tires, chain-
driven sprockets and tension-spoked wheels.
