Jeddah Prep and Grammar School
2018-2019
Letter from the Editor
This year I had the honour and privilege of being the
Jeddah Prep and Grammar School yearbook editor.
I decided over the summer that I would take on the
responsibility as the editor. It was a daunting task but
I do not regret taking this decision one bit. Creating,
designing and capturing pictures as well as making sure
the production is top notch can all be very stressful, but it
has been well worth it.
It takes a lot of time to get the yearbook anywhere near
completion. I had to meet deadlines and lots of work had
to be done before the page creation even began.
I had tremendous amout of help from Mr Bedford
(Headmaster) who was already familiar with how things
work, how things come together, and how to be creative
with the pages. I am grateful to the staff members of
the school who have been prompt and without their
contribution this yearbook would not have been possible.
To me, a yearbook is like a time capsule containing all the
memories that you have experienced during that school
year. Each page has a lot of effort, passion, and thought
put into it.
Lessons learnt this year are that deadlines will come up
faster than you think. If people are slacking on things
that they need to complete, don’t hesitate to tell them. If
something does not look right, fix it. It is your yearbook
and you want it to be the best it can be. Yes, it is stressful
and time consuming, but do not give up on it because it is
so worth it in the end!
Some great memories are found within the pages, but my
greatest are the ones of making this yearbook.
Sincerely,
Mrs Asra Yaldram

This year in Nursery we have had an action packed,
fun and exciting year! Every day was filled with fun
and laughter and lots of learning through play. We
kick started the year by making friends and building
relationships. We then went on to our learning topics ‘All
about Me’, moving onto learning about “Animals and
their habitats”, “Mini beasts” and “Traditional Tales”.
We had lots and lots of fun. We discovered sounds and
numbers and even correct formation. Life in Nursery is
always enjoyable and relaxed placing the children in the
driving seat of their own learning journey.
I am so proud of all your achievements!
We are ready for Reception!

Reception Class A have been super busy this year in our
learning through play!
We covered the topics- All About Me, Animals (we learnt
lots of facts about farm animals, zoo animals and animals
that live under the sea), Dinosaurs and A Land Far, Far
Away.
Our phonics learning has been great, we learnt lots of new
sounds and words, and are trying really hard to apply
everything we have learnt in our reading and writing. As
part of our phonics learning we had a g-green day, made
sssandwiches, o-orange juice and had lots of fun in the
process!
Our educational trips included visiting Little Chef’s
Academy and Stationary Fantasy which was super
exciting. What fun we have had! What a smashing year
we have had! We are ready for Year 1!

Reception Class C has had a wonderful year, packed
with fun and learning through play!
We really enjoyed finding out about different kinds
of animals (pets/farm/ jungle) and sea creatures. We
created our own enormous wild animals, with collage
materials, turning the outdoor area into our very own
zoo! We also explored the time of the dinosaurs and
can tell you many interesting facts about dinosaurs that
roamed the Earth.
We had lots of fun investigating ‘All about Me’
throughout our first term in Reception, and ‘A land
Far, Far Away’, during which we shared many of our
favourite traditional tales and fairy stories. We had so
much fun dressing up as our favourite characters such as
Peter Pan, Cinderella and Belle (Beauty and the Beast).
During our phonics sessions, we have learned many new
sounds, how to blend and read. We have been able to
apply this knowledge to our writing which we enjoy so
much every day!
We have had a wonderful year in Reception Class C!
Now, we are all so excited to be moving on to Year 1 next
year, and meet lots of exciting, new learning challenges!

A fantastic year with a wonderful class. Every day was
filled with fun and laughter. We started the year as
pirates walking the plank. Then we saw camels in the

some villains! We told our own Toy Story and in
between all of that we became amazing readers, writers

Wow! What a year as we have all worked hard to
achieve our goals. Highlights have included our trip
to the Wellness Centre where we participated in an
energetic Zumba class, learnt how to look after our
teeth and expressed ourselves using canvas and paint.
In book week, along with 4B and 4C, we told the whole
Harry Potter story to the school, as well as dress up
as our favourite Harry Potter characters. In April we
all dressed up as Roman soldiers, Roman emperors or
Roman citizens, made and painted our Roman shields
and went outside for shield practice. Although we know
that Year 5 will be hard we are all looking forward to the
challenges ahead.
