Welcome to our Fall 2017/Winter 2018, Recreation Guide for the City of Baldwin Park’s 2017- 2018
Recreation & Community Services Department. I invite you to discover the Award-

As Director, I place a high emphasis on improving the recreational facilities and existing
parks, as well as creating new recreational opportunities and access for open green
space as a top priority. Be sure to check out the improvements we are making around
the Esther Snyder Community Center including the renovation improvements to the
Aquatics Center and the newly air conditioned gymnasium. Morgan Park will also install
new rubberized flooring and shade structures to continue improving our Playful City
commitment. The Walnut Creek Renovation Project is set to be completed with Phase
III of the project providing a beautiful natural oasis in the Hub of the San Gabriel Valley.

Salute Baldwin Park’s honored heroes at the 26th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony located at Morgan Park’s Cesar E.
Chavez Amphitheater. The ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m. featuring a 21-gun salute, POW table setting, and a grand
finale of a live parachute demonstration by the Golden Stars Skydiving Team. Light refreshments will be served
following the ceremony. Nominations are now being accepted for Baldwin Park resident veterans to be honored at

This class teaches children discipline, respect, and responsibility. Tae Kwon
Do also teaches participants methods to achieve full concentration, how to
defend themselves, and become more aware of their surroundings. Acquiring

Safety Awareness

This program combines safety awareness education with self-defense
instruction in a fun, structured environment! Students are placed into classes
according to age and ability. Students will be given weekly safety awareness
information addressing the lures strangers use to attract and abduct children
and teens! Students progress in rank and earn their belts!

While we get to enjoy the comforts of family, friends and food, there are others
who unfortunately don’t have that luxury. Bring your friends as we put together
Thanksgiving Care Packages and distribute them Thanksgiving morning! This
is an important and meaningful volunteer opportunity for teenagers to really
get to know their community and realize how fortunate they truly are. There
will be donation boxes at the Community Center and Teen Center where
lightly worn clothing, blankets, new socks and underwear, hygiene supplies
and nonperishable canned goods will be collected. Care package assembly will
be taking place November 20-22 and distribution will occur November 23 on

Este año, la Ciudad de Baldwin Park comenzará la temporada de eventos especiales en 6 Eventos Especiales

celebraremos el desfile de Baldwin Park con el tema “Construyendo Comunidad atraves 16 Centro de Artes y Recreación
de Diversidad” que llega a las calles, seguido por un carnaval de cuatro días a partir Clases de Especialidad
del jueves, 2 de noviembre, hasta el domingo, 5 de noviembre. Habrá una celebración 20 Centro Acuático
especial en honor a nuestros soldados de la comunidad en el 26va Ceremonia Anual del 24 Deportes para Jóvenes y Adultos
Día de los Veteranos. La temporada navideña debuta con la Iluminación del Árbol anual 25 Centro Para Adolescentes y Parque
el 30 de noviembre y el Desayuno con Santa el 2 de diciembre. La temporada de dar se de Patinaje
celebra con el programa de Santa Clothes, y la entrega de canastas navideñas. Por último, 29 Parque Barnes y Centro de Recreación

Anfiteatro Cesar E. Chavez

Rinde homenaje a los héroes honrados en la 26ª Anual Ceremonia del Día de los Veteranos ubicado en el Parque Morgan en
el Anfiteatro Cesar Chavez. La ceremonia comenzará a las 1:00 p.m. con una descarga de 21 cañonazos, mesa de POW, y un
gran final demostración en vivo de paracaidistas por parte del Equipo de Estrellas de Oro. Después de la ceremonia habrá una
recepción con bocados ligeros. Se están aceptando nominaciones para los Veteranos residentes de Baldwin Park para ser

Ballet Folklórico de Carolina

Ballet folklórico se especializa en la danza cultural de México y España. Este

entrenamiento técnico incluye calentamientos de ballet, movimientos de pies,

cuerpo, y el movimiento de la falda, coreografía y la presencia en el escenario.
