THE PROCESSIONAL
“Come, We That Love the Lord”................ #1

THE CALL TO WORSHIP………………. Psalms 100

Leader: Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all
ye lands.

People: Serve the Lord with gladness: come
before His presence with singing.

Leader: Know ye that the Lord He is God: it
is He that hath made us, and not we
ourselves; we are His people, and the
sheep of His pasture.

People: Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
and into His courts with praise: be
thankful unto Him and bless His name.

All: For the Lord is good; and His mercy
is everlasting; and His truth endureth
to all generations.

THE CHORAL RESPONSE

THE INVOCATION (The People Seated and

Bowed)

Oh Lord, our God, how excellent is Thy name

in all the earth. We bless thee, we laud thee,

and we magnify thy Holy name. Come and

dwell within our midst, and let us feel Your

holy presence, now in your sanctuary. Touch

our hearts, quicken our spirits, that we may

worship you in the beauty of holiness. And

when our time in this place of worship and

privilege ends, let us go forth in Thy name,

renewed, refreshed, and empowered to do Your

24

will. For we ask this in the name of Jesus, Your
Son and our Savior. Amen

THE CHORAL RESPONSE

THE HYMN “Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah” #29

RESPONSIVE READING…………… Romans 8:1-6

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in
Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free
from the law of sin and death.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the
flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh,
and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who
walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the
flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually
minded is life and peace.

THE COMMUNION HYMN
“There Is a Fountain Filled with Blood”

1. There is a fountain filled with blood, Drawn from
Emmanuel’s veins; And sinners, plunged beneath
that flood, Lose all their guilty stains, Lose all their
guilty stains, Lose all their guilty stains, And
sinners, plunged beneath that flood, Lose all their
guilty stains.

2. The dying thief rejoiced to see, That fountain in his
day; And there may I, though vile as he, Wash all
my sins away, Wash all my sins away, Wash all my
sins away, And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away.

3. Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood Shall never
lose its power, Till all the ransomed Church of God,
Be saved, to sin no more, Be saved, to sin no more,
Be saved to sin no more, Till all the ransomed
Church of God, Be saved, to sin no more.

4. E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream, Thy flowing

theme, And shall be till I die, And shall be till I die,
And shall be till I die, Redeeming love has been my

5. Then in a nobler sweeter song, I’ll sing Thy power
to save, When this poor lisping, stammering
tongue, Lies silent in the grave, Lies silent in the
grave, Lies silent in the grave, When this poor
lisping stammering tongue, Lies silent in the grave.
Amen.

THE FELLOWSHIP HYMN AND HANDSHAKE

“It Is Well With My Soul”
When peace like a river attendeth my way, When
sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever my lot,
Thou has taught me to say: “It is well, it is well
with my soul.”

It is well (It is well) with my soul, (with my soul),
it is well, it is well with my soul!

Tho’ Satan should buffet tho’ trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control, That Christ hath
regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His
own blood for my soul.

My sin – oh, the bliss of this glorious tho’t – My
sin – not in part but the whole, – Is nailed to His
cross, and I bear it no more; Praise the Lord, praise
the Lord, O my soul!

And, Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be
sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll, The
trump shall re-sound, and the Lord shall descend, –
“Even so – it is well with my soul.

THE RESPONSIVE READING

Leader: “Ho! Everyone who thirst, come to the
waters; and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine
and milk without money and without
price.

People: Why do you spend money for what is not
bread, and your wages for what does not
satisfy?

28

Leader: Listen diligently to Me, and eat what is
good, and let your soul delight itself in
abundance.

People: Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and
your soul shall live; and I will make an
everlasting covenant with you – the sure
mercies of David.

Leader: Indeed I have given him a witness to the
people, a leader and commander for the

People: Surely you shall call a nation you do not
know, and nations who do not know you shall
run to you.

LITANY “SENDING AND CHALLENGING”….. Live
Like A Christian

Leader: I want a thousand voices to proclaim your love,
and celebrate with gratitude your love for us. I would like
to have a thousand voices to denounce and protest
slavery, social injustice.
People: I would like to have a thousand eyes to see in
the heavens, in the sea, in the flowers, your tender face
and adore you. I would like to have a thousand eyes to
also find you in the pain of the inconsolable ones
without homes or voice.
Leader: I would like to have a thousand ears to hear your
voice and in the silence of the morning feel happy. I
would like to have a thousand ears to also hear your
clamoring, to hear the bitter screams of oppressed voices.
People: I would like to have a thousand noses to smell
the saintly aroma of the good fruits and flowers of
your creation. I would like to have a thousand noses to
smell the pollution, the enmity, the frustration of those
weighed down by oppression.
Leader: Oh! If I could I have a thousand hands to raise
the gospel, so I can applaud you with emotion and touch
you. Oh! If I could have a thousand hands to transform
our world, uniting all hands to live in peace.
All: Only you, O Lord, can give us thousands of ears,
eyes, voices, and hands. Only you, O Lord, can
convict, call and empower us to serve you. Only you,
O Lord, can give us thousands of gifts, strength, and
reason, to transform our world by serving you.

THE CALL TO WORSHIP

36

Oh, come let us worship the Lord. Oh, come let us be
thankful for the Lord God who sent His Son to save us all.
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah Glory to God on high

THE INVOCATION (All seated)

Oh, God we have gathered once again to praise your Holy
name Your righteous word is a blue print, showing us how
we should live a Christian Life. We know, quite often, we
chose paths that are not of your teachings. We humbly ask
your forgiveness and seek strength to help those who are in
need; those who want to feel your warm and embracing
spirit and those who feel all hope is gone.
As we remember our mission of winning “The World for
Christ” clear our minds of all arrogance. Undergird our
travels and ministries established in thy name. Let our
voices be heard; our eyes see in dark places; our hearts and
hands know and show only compassion. We pray all this in
the name of Jesus. Hallelujah! Amen

THE HYMN I Am Thine, O Lord”

I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told
Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
and be closer drawn to Thee: ~~Refrain

Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, By the power
of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine. ~~Refrain

O the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne
I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend! ~~Refrain

There are depths of love that I cannot know Till I cross
the narrow sea; There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee. ~~Refrain

Refrain: Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To the
cross where Thou hast died: Draw me nearer, nearer,
blessed Lord, To Thy precious bleeding side.

THE RESPONSIVE READING
Leader: God, You said for us to follow you.

37

People: But where will You go? Where will you take
us?

Leader: We sometimes hope you will simply reside in the
church. But your heart always is drawn to the
dark places that have never seen your light.

People: Where will You go? Surely not into the
darkness.

Leader: Will you go to the forgotten people of our society
who live without hope?

People: Where will You go? Surely not to the people
we’ve chosen to pass by.

Leader: Will you go to the homes racked by divorce,
infidelity and spiritual warfare?

People: Where will You go? Even to those who
seemingly have made foolish decisions?

Leader: Will you go to the prisoners, the homeless and the
diseased?

People: Where will You go? Must we follow you into
jails and homeless shelters?

Leader: Will you go to our homes? Will you go to our
jobs?

People: Where will You go, God? Where must we
follow?

Leader: You’ve called us to follow. “Go into all the world,
and teach all nations, baptize them in the name of
the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teaching
them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

People: We will face the question, “Where will we go?
And we answer, “Where He leads us we will
follow.”

38

ALL: Lord, we want to follow you, to carry your light, to
keep this great commission. Lord help us focus on
our mission. Give us the courage to follow you as
other Christians have done throughout history

Light his own candle some other way
See how your sister, she’s been robbed and lied to
Still holds a candle without a flame

Seek out the Lonely, the Tired and Worn
Hold out your Candle for all to see it
TAKE YOUR CANDLE AND GO LIGHT YOUR

So let’s raise our candles and light up the Sky

HYMN “Throw Out the Life Line”

Throw out the lifeline across the dark wave! There is a
brother whom someone should save; Somebody’s

brother! Oh, who then will dare, To throw out the

lifeline, his peril to share?

Throw out the lifeline with hand quick and strong.
Why do you tarry, why linger so long? See! He is
sinking! Oh, hasten today. And out with the lifeboat!
Away then away?

Throw out the lifeline to danger fraught men, Sinking
in anguish where you’ve never been; Winds of
temptation and billows of woe Will soon hurl them out
where the dark waters flow.

Soon will the season of rescue be o’er, Soon will they
drift to eternity’s shore; Haste then, my brother, no
time for delay, But throw out the lifeline and save them
today.

CHORUS

Throw out the lifeline! Throw out the lifeline!
Someone is drifting away; Throw out the lifeline!
Throw out the lifeline! Someone is sinking today.

“Lift Him Up” #15

How to reach the masses, men of every birth?
For an answer Jesus gave a key, “And I, if I be
lifted up from the earth, Will draw all men unto
Me.”

Lift Him up, Lift Him up,… Still He
speaks from eternity, “And I, if I be
lifted up from the earth, will draw all
men unto Me.

O the world is hungry for the living bread, Lift
the Saviour up for them to see, Trust Him, and
do not doubt the words that He said, “I’ll draw
all men unto Me.”

Lift Him up by living as a Christian ought,
Let the world in you the Saviour see,
Then men will gladly follow Him who
once taught, “I’ll draw all men unto Me.”
