PREFACE ADVERSITY HAS THE EFFECT OF ELICITING TALENTS, WHICH IN PROSPEROUS CIRCUMSTANCES WOULD HAVE LAIN DORMANT’ We all face hardships in different forms. The only thing that matters is that we RISE UP at the end. We, at KCIS, have emerged dynamically after a long and tough battle with the pandemic. The Management, the teachers and the students of KCIS fastened up their belts with new hopes and aspirations and left no stone unturned for the all round development of the students and thereby compensate for the losses incurred by the pandemic. Life‘s challenges are not supposed to paralyze us, they are supposed to help us discover who we are. The children today, face multifarious challenges and they need to be engrossed in a wide variety of academic and co-curricular activities which help to widen their horizons in all spheres of life. We believe in continuous improvement rather than delayed perfection and we have many enjoyable learning experiences to look back in. RENDEZVOUS: E-Magazine is a compilation of enlivened and zealous activities carried on in the Academic year 2022-23. Come, let‘s unlock the gateway to the aesthetic blend of yet another vibrant and exuberant chapter in the catalogue of KCIS. Wishing you a pleasant viewing experience!! Warm Regards 1

Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one. -Malcolm Forbes We believe that all children are gifted and talented in their own particular ways. Every child is unique physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. We want our children to find their talents and interests and follow their dreams. What we endeavor in our school, is to discover the gem in every child and encourage it. At the same time, we understand that every child has his or her own challenges and we need to help them overcome it. At Landmark, the focus is to provide a curriculum and atmosphere in which they continue learning and developing into confident, healthy and responsible individuals. We would not like our focus to be limited to making our children just academically bright, but also make them capable of facing the world confidently with judicious use of their knowledge. The school infrastructure is one of the tools in the development of children and we have the vision of making available the best of infrastructure to them. Towards this, we have achieved a significant part of it and KCIS lies as a testimony to it. As we know education is the basis of all progress hence, we believe that it is not just academics and extracurricular activities which are important in the school curriculum, but it is equally important to impart moral values and we are building a teaching and a learning atmosphere in the school which will aim towards the complete development of the children. The massive support system for our KCIS is none other than the parents who are associated to us. You have shown what trust and guarantee means. Even in the tough times, your cooperation stimulated the smooth functioning of our organization. I hope the school graduates will become leaders of their chosen fields and contribute positively towards the progress of our nation and of humanity at large. Through this message, I would like to quote, Two things define you: Your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything." –George Bernard Shaw. MR. CHAITANYA CHOWDHARY PRESIDENT, KCIS 1

Dear Students and Parents Greetings from KCIS ! “ Change can be difficult to deal with, even when it's for the better. “ The COVID-19 panic effects has caused a massive changes to our daily lives, changes that have often happened rapidly and abruptly. Life adjustments often come with a wide range of experiences and emotions. Let’s consider this so very difficult time to reflect on who we exactly want to be and focus on what is within our control. Let’s take a little more care of our physical and emotional health and indulge in creativity, social connection, and stress relief! We at KCIS, affirm that education begins at birth and continues through life. Our complete focus is to provide a support centre to our children so they continue learning and developing towards becoming whole and healthy individuals. We work with the core belief that wisdom can be cultivated gradually amongst all individuals. It is not enough to make children literate and academically intelligent what is more important is to make them wise so that they are able to use their intelligence judiciously. As we step into this new academic year, filled with hope and dreams of scaling new heights, I wish to reiterate the importance of few things that we have to keep in mind. Parents are requested to understand that children should not be forced, but should be guided to achieve whatever goals they may have in their minds in an easy and pleasing manner, so that we may be able to discover the particular touch of genius in each one of them. Students should keep in mind the importance of planning and prioritizing their time and the effective use of it which are essential to achieve success. I take this opportunity to thank all the parents who have reposed their faith in us. We assure to do our very best always. Wishing you all Good Luck. Regards Anupama Sinha MRS. ANUPAMA SINHA PRINCIPAL, KCIS 1

“Free the child’s potential, and you will transform him into the world” At KCIS we believe that ‘children must be taught how to think, not what to think.’ KCIS provides an inclusive environment where students are encouraged to put their best foot forward to achieve academic, sporting and social excellence. The school provides an environment where the child realizes his worth as a responsible, balanced and valued member of the society; and believes in the concept of creating an ambient future for all. The school leaves no stone unturned to even provide counseling sessions from time to time. The present year has been a riot of activities and at the same time full of achievements in all spheres of school activities. We have grown from strength to strength this academic session. Our primary motive has been to impart lessons for life, which is why we have focused on interactive and practical means of learning. The aim of education today is not restricted to the four walls of the classroom thereby becoming only Book Smart and gaining theoretically with zilch experience and exposure. The purpose of the education received by our children is to replace an empty mind with an open one. Students are provided with platforms in the form of various Inter class, Inter House and Inter school competitions where not only the inborn talents of the child is polished to shine but also builds confidence and help enhance their personality. This year has been challenging as well as enriching for everyone and has heralded a new dawn for this progressive institution. Each day is an awakening in itself and it is only through opening our mind that we can evolve into the best versions of ourselves. Our educational philosophy is centered on praise, encouragement, enthusiasm, and affection, rather than criticism, fear, and punishment. We constantly work to develop a sense of discipline and good moral character, where all students are expected to conform to high disciplinary standards and to develop values of tolerance, fair play, compassion, integrity, and fortitude. I am confident that the KCIS will always be a beacon of light, guiding the destiny of its students and radiating kindness and compassion as it soars high in its pursuit of academic excellence. MS. MS. SONAL GUPTA MIDDLE WING COORDINATOR 1 Message from Middle Wing Coordinator's desk "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." …. Malcolm X, KC International School, Jammu is a renowned and prestigious institution of the Jammu city and I feel extremely happy and privileged to be a part of this magnificent educational institution. I gratefully acknowledge the yeoman service of my Predecessors, dedicated Teachers & Staff and ever supporting parents and well wishers of KCIS fraternity. May God be gracious to you all for your noble contribution towards the institution and nation building. Today we are living in a fast changing complex society, which presents before us challenges as well as opportunities. In this context it all depends on every individual how one responds to the situation with the right mindset. I remember the words of Benjamin Disraeli, "Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think". Indeed, we need better education to have better thoughts, to be better human persons, to build a better society. I firmly believe that every human being endowed with various talents and skills is a precious gift of God. I am very pleased to bring to your notice that KC International School is one of those schools which provides ample opportunities along with a value and skill based wholesome quality education to nurture the inner potentials of every child. I wish and pray that everyday be a special day for every child who enters the portals of school with a heart and mind set to grow more than yesterday. The following lines of John L. Mason are worth pondering. Do more than grow. Bloom. Do more than hear. Listen. Do more than talk. Communicate. Do more than think. Create. Do more than work. Excel. Do more than decide. Discern. Do more than read. Apply. Do more than dream. Do more than wish. Believe. Do more than change. Improve. Do more than exist. Live. And Live with a purpose in your heart. May the blessing of the Almighty God be with you all for a successful academic year.

MS. RUCHIKA BANDRAL PRIMARY WING COORDINATOR From the desk of Primary Wing Coordinator Dear Parents, I recall my own golden days precisely my school times while writing this message. The time when more than my abode I loved to be in my another niche where my friends and teachers used to be with me. With the passing of time and Pandemic a lot of things had been changed, our ways of Learning , Teaching and many more things but one thing which was constant is the energy level of these vibrant molecules i.e. our children in all the times. "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." This has been my way and in fact our way at KCIS. We at KCIS enhance their life skills and prepare them for real issues of the world. At KCIS we are basically inculcating the values, skills, heritage and culture to become good human beings, at the same time expanding their horizon towards life. Keeping this in mind we "The KCITES" are committed to: 1. provide conducive environment to make a child feel secure2. provide a world class infrastructure to up-keep the highest levels of quality standards 3. follow futuristic approach to make children a world citizen who can compete with best4 co-create along with parents the road map of child's success.5. involve each and every child in the activities so that they learn the most of talents. We help our little ones to explore their world and soar high in the sky. Their teachers will always be the wind beneath their wings. Skills and competencies are needed to reach perfection in a field or a profession. Our children are inspired to become original thinkers, innovative scientists, creative artists and serve their county and the world. We teach them to Think Big. Dream Big and Act Big. Regards 1

Albert Einstein has rightly quoted that ‘Education is not the learning of facts ;It’s rather the training of mind to think”. The KCIS Superkids opens its gate to giggling, cheerful and happy little feet of future politicians, doctors ,lawyers, engineers, actors, teachers, astronauts, pilots, soldiers .…. eagerly rushing towards their classrooms to meet their teachers and friends. Each day, the dedicated staff of the school welcomes the little Superkids with love and warmth to ensure a happy and excited start of a fruitful day. In KCIS Superkids’ Wing we strive to give every student the opportunity to express themselves through our well planned curricular and co-curricular curriculum. In past few months our children are exposed to various methods of learning like , dance, play, drama, art ,music, sports etc. We encourage our little learners to think out of the box and try our best to stimulate their senses each day through our well planned Morning Assembly containing-Fun Facts, Though of the Day, Life-Skills, Quiz, Speak Your Heart Out and Appreciations. Inter-class competitions and interactive classroom learning has brought a spectacular change in overall persona of our children. I proudly say that every child with us has great potential and achieved their learning milestones. We as teachers and parents are responsible in laying a strong foundation for success for our children to face the challenges of life. In this new era, the education has become a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents. Let us always remember that every child gifted, they just unwrap their packages at different times. I conclude with a sincere thanks to our Respected Principal Ma’am, honorable management and all the Super-Moms & Super-Dads who have been a great support to us on every step. Regards Arti Raina Coordinator KCIS Superkids Wing MS. ARTI RAINA PRE-PRIMARY COORDINATOR 1

"By Education, we mean an all–round development of the child, in body, mind and spirit.” Schooling has the greatest influence on an individual’s life and helps a child to blossom forth into a well balanced person with a healthy mind and spirit. Here in KCIS , along with secular knowledge, we strive to instill in our students, strong personal conviction and right values to motivate their actions. We believe that Life is not about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself. At KCIS we believe that ‘children must be taught how to think, not what to think.’ Our school provides an inclusive environment where students are encouraged to put their best foot forward to achieve academic, sporting and social excellence. Students are provided with platforms in the form of various inter class, inter house and inter school competitions where not only the inborn talents of the child is polished to shine but also builds confidence and help enhance their personality. There is no denying that every student can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way. The potential of the students are channelized by teacher cum facilitators with a holistic student centred approach. Our Longview team is working together for the betterment of the society. Hope our devotion, hard work and sincerity will help in bringing positive change in our coming generations. We believe in moving ahead with all our stakeholders and strongly feel that education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and responsible parents. Together we can and we shall make KCIS a best place for learning and growth. We at KCIS strongly believe in a quote by the great Scientist and Philosopher Albert Einstein - “Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.” MS. DINING ETIQUETTES (GRADE 1&2) Good table manners are an important part of every meal and should be encouraged from an early age. Whether you’re eating at home, dining out, or having dinner with friends, good table manner and etiquette an important part of every meal. Keeping this in mind, Grade 1 and 2 students were reminded that good table manners are like good manners in general. This manoeuvre strengthened the holistic development of each and every child developing their social and selfmanagement skills. It was wonderful to see students expressing their views and personal experiences of social gathering and parties 1

Poem: BOUT OF JOY I sense a few things today, and feel a few differently, That time, world, reality, nothingness and matters incidentally. Noticing everything around, I proceed to form a story. It does make me delightful, makes me enormously content, I flow with my thoughts, away, in usual enjoyment. Some talk around, some work, while the Cosmos continues its own phenomenon, I wonder how my imagination concocts its splendid creation. Might look null and dull, but the mind works as busy-as-a-bee, The insights spread out their wings, to simultaneously feel free. This little fraction of time, this bout I experience in reality. Making me forget all woes, sorrows and casualties. I sensed a few things today, and felt a few differently. Ineffable how vividly simple moments change us enormously. YOUR STRUGGLE MATTERS If you are struggling with your goals, dream or your vision, it indicates that you are going on the right track, which will lead you to the kind of life you always wished to live. The struggle conveys that the spark of determination and the hunger for your dreams is still alive. Your struggles will make you fall on your knees multiple times, but if you are die heartedly courageous and internally strong, the raise of hope will always shine within you and will show you the right path. You might feel burdened, stressed, exhausted and unstable in your journey. To overcome these feelings try to connect to the God who created you, the almighty will always hold your hand, make you walk and heal your wounds. Always embrace your struggles, this will help you to move from inner struggle to inner success. Never give up, do the day to day work that you’re dreams require. This task sounds easy and simple, but isn’t. You need strong determination and concentration. It all depends on how much belief you have on your self. Always remember “what makes it hard, is also what makes it valuable”. Never doubt on your capabilities, you’re capabilities are unimaginable. No one ever achieves their goal easily, struggle is an important element which acts as an obstacle as well as a teacher in the path of success. When you plant seeds in the garden, you don’t dig them up every day to see if they have sprouted yet. You simply water them and clear the weeds. Struggles are just like those weeds. Just keep patience, do your daily practice and cultivate a kind heart. The seed will grow in time. The results will come when they are ready. ROLE PLAY – THIRSTY CROW (KCIS SUPERKIDS) Story telling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today. – Robert McAfee Brown The KCIS Superkids learnt the story of the Thirsty Crow through role play by Ms. Shivani Langer. She dressed up as the protagonist of the story ‘the crow’ and beautifully performed various parts of the story . The little learners jumped with joy and curiosity as they saw this huge crow flapping its wings among them. They were awestruck when the crow raised the water by putting pebbles to the pot. Besides enjoyment, the children also repeated and recited the story in form of poem with Ms. Anita Sharma. 1

Importance of skills in students Besides knowledge, students also need to have skills. Like education, we also need to have at least one skill. If we have skills, we have various options for the future. We usually become doctors, engineers, teachers, when we are good at studying while we can become dancers, singers, artists and actors if we have skills and not when we are good at studying or not. It is not like we should not study at all and only have skills but we should study and have skills too so we have options for the future and we can also participate in school activities. SKILLS ARE NOT SOMETHING WE ARE BORN WITH,BUT SOMETHING WE HAVE TO DEVELOP There are skills related to studying like writing skills and communication skills. 1.Writing skills gives students a chance to reflect on career options based on writing. Students can focus on improving their writing skills in school and prepare themselves for a professional writing career. 2.Students will always be more interactive in classrooms if they have strong communication skills. This interaction will lead to better clarity in understanding the subjects being taught. This would, in turn, lead to much better grades and eventual success in academics. Skills like art and yoga also helps students in future. 1.Art instruction helps children with the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, and inventiveness. Visual arts teach learners all techniques that are necessary in presentations of academic work. 2.Yoga improves strength, balance and flexibility.
