INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 1

The Brighter Side There is darkness all around, I can't hear any sound. Why can't I see anybody? Oh God! the road is so muddy. I am getting mad. Why bad things happen to me, I am in pain, why can't you see? I hate this darker ride, Why can't I see the brighter side? Why journey of darkness seems too long. Why everything is going wrong. Why surrounding is growing like high tide. Why can't I see the brighter side? All was messed up, Life had become a broken cup. When suddenly I saw a dim light, To see that completely, I had to fight. There I saw a picture of God, Oh! I learnt the game of the Lord. Now, I could see the picture so clear, In my eyes I could feel a tear. All that was God's test, I had to show patience and perform my best. This is God's way to make us strong. To teach how to stand firm when all is wrong. Now my eyes are open wide, And here I see the brighter side. ARCHIT BHAT(11TH A) THE DEITY The sandy snow briefs me, The passing low details me, The weathering storm ensures me, The clear sky tolds me, that you are here. With every blowing air you hits me, With every chilly wind you tricks me, Your presence felt me every day, You will not let me down tells me in this or that way. I am happy without you, But still searches for you. I weep for my sins, By sitting and talking to you. I wanna say you, I am nothing without you, But still living without watching you. With a strong feeling to see you, I am writing this dream, So that whenever I see you, Feels how beautiful is my dream. ~Gouri Bhalla 12 TH D 1 S T U D E N T S C O R N E R

IT’S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY Life can be overwhelming sometimes; rough patch or a bad day, sometimes it feels like no matter what you do, one thing or the other goes wrong, some days you have nothing; zero motivation, zero creativity and then it dawns on you- Yep I’m talking about self doubt; the most devastating human habit. Self doubt is very dangerous because it means you do not trust yourself, you yourself are killing all your hopes and you doubt your abilities. You think you have to be strong all the time, that you’re not allowed to cry. How can I cry and sit here and feel sorry for myself when I have so much to be grateful for. Yeah these questions will be your constant whenever you feel down BUT KNOW THAT IT’S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY. Don’t resist feeling bad just because it seems like you’re the only one that feels lonely, lost, unmotivated. You’re not. Remember that you’re not alone. Whenever you feel overwhelmed don’t force yourself to be happy, just follow your daily routine. And yes do make sure that you’re not spending much of your time lying on a couch or watching your phone. You don’t have to keep up with your entire daily chores take it easy if you like but sticking to your routine even partially makes a big difference. At the end of the day just remember that not every day is meant to go by smoothly just know that there is always a better tomorrow. Just remember this quote “We should all be allowed to fall apart sometimes, so that we can find ourselves all over again”. At last I would like to conclude by quoting that just know that IT’S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY. Thank you - BY ANANDI GUPTA 11TH D Life of a flower If it gets enough sunshine, It survives the day A pretty flower blooming in the month of May When heavy rain falls, it holds on to the clay So that in breezes of future , it can calmly sway. All sorts of flowers, In different arrays And each one has its own role to play. But if it looses itself, All one can do is pray Because when you stop watering a flower, It withers away. -Tejal Pandita Class :XD 1 STUDENTSCORNER

“Gandhi and Modern India’’ On the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi’s persona, philosophy and ideals remain more relevant than ever. Forever a sceptic of the Western model of industrialisation, his views are eloquently expressed in his classic monograph Hind Swaraj, where he fears a catastrophe for Nature and Man in the latter’s blind pursuit of material progress and indiscriminate celebration of technology. He took pains to explain that he favoured technologies that helped people in their work and output, without replacing them. Gandhi’s intellectual disciples, such as EF Schumacher, developed the building blocks of sustainable development, which has now sadly been reduced to an empty slogan in climate change talks. Yet, with the effects of climate change being felt with disconcerting intensity, Gandhi’s maxim that the world has enough for everyone’s need but not for their greed rings out loud and clear. An inspiration for many ecologists the world over — from climate change warriors to practitioners of natural and organic farming — he would have coaxed the world into more action with his moral force. Gandhi’s moral power emanated from an almost unbelievable oneness of thought and action. He fought caste remorselessly and almost at a spiritual level, correcting his political beliefs and actions all the time, engaging with searing critics such as Ambedkar and ‘Gora’ (Goparaju Ramachandra Rao). A democrat and dissenter who respected dissent, he extended that philosophy of anti-casteism and openness to his vision of education, or nayitaleem , which sought to challenge the stigma against manual labour vis-a-vis intellectual labour. These evils are rife in ‘modern’ India today, but with the difference that the moral leadership to challenge them is less in evidence. The Modi government has tried to take forward Gandhi’s passion for cleanliness and his environmentalism with the Swacch Bharat Mission, the ban on single-use plastic, etc. But there is also a sense of the unreal in the fetishisation of Gandhi. The image of him spinning the wheel, his round-framed spectacles depicting Swachh Bharat, the celebration of his luminescence seem strangely at odds with the reality — that today’s India is almost an antithesis of the beliefs that the Mahatma lived and died for Communal harmony, secularism and non-violence were a practiced reality for Gandhi. He had factored in the eventuality that he may have to pay with his life for these ideals. “There is an art of dying,” he wrote in a letter in the context of Noakhali riots. “As it is, all die, but one has to learn by practice how to die a beautiful death”. He said that his “technique of non-violence was on trial in Noakhali”. With his assassin being hailed as a national hero by a ruling party MP and mob-lynching of the minorities having become routine, the ongoing celebrations seem just a bit off-key. We need to recover Gandhi’s honesty and generosity of thought, action. Name –Koushki Bhat Class – 12th B 1 S T U D E N T S C O R N E R

EXAMOPHOBIA The fear of something is called phobia. Exam phobia is the fear of exams. Many students suffer from this phobia. If we get scared or stressed during exams; we may have Exam phobia and it may affect our performance. To overcome this, we should follow these steps: 1.Early revision and complete daily target. 2.Positive self-talk and exercise for 30 min. daily. 3.Do not miss school during revision days as we may not be able to clear our doubts. 4.Less screen time is advisable. 5.Healthy diet and fruits can help to burst stress. 6.Check date sheet twice to avoid last minute chaos. 7. Last but not the least, we should seek blessings from God and elders. By Bhagyam Sharma Grade 4D MY SCHOOL The name of my school is K.C. International. It is located at Akhnoor road, Jammu. A FINAL GOODBYE Ten years have flown by in a rush, Of endless lessons, laughter, and hush, But now the time has come to part, And bid farewell to this school, my heart. The halls that once felt like a maze , Now seem familiar in so many ways, The classrooms that once felt strange, Now hold memories that will never change. As I walk these halls for the final time, I can't help but feel a sense of sublime, For all the times we laughed and cried, And all the memories we'll hold with pride. The first day felt like a new beginning, A world of possibility, with no ending, The last day, though, feels bittersweet, A farewell to friends, memories, and feats. It's hard to say goodbye to what we know, To the friendships, the laughter, and the glow, But as we leave, we take with us, The lessons, the wisdom, and the trust. So as we say goodbye to this place, Let's hold our heads high with grace, For though we may be leaving now, Our memories and dreams will forever avow. Divam Upadhyay 12 A The Outer World “As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest in this world"- Nelson Mandela. You may have heard that there are seven faces of you in this world but you, the one have million faces in yourself. Try to look for yourself for real and you will be swarmed by depressed thoughts. In this present society, your income defines you instead of your attitude. Let’s be straight, if you are poor, they think you are helpless true indeed but not selfless. You have got a reputation to consider and that’s chicken if you don’t! Every person in this world has a different perspective for you but it cannot always be negative, maybe some of them want the best for you and think the happiest moments for you. World can be very cruel or the kindest sometimes but it matters on their benefit. They are, will and always be selfish. Even I am selfish for myself! And I do have the right to admire myself! But remember that you don’t have the right to think bad about others! Karma is going to make you regret for sure!. If things get too rough, you be rough too! But in a non violent way. Don’t make your hands dirty! I guess that was enough to make you all realize about the faces of this society. You go and settle anywhere, you will find the same scenario but who’s going to make changes? You! The youth of our society! Khushi Rajput 9D 1 STUDENTSCORNER

1 AN ODE TO THE AMBIVERT Radiance on their faces, Dominating is their glow. And life for them seems like a merry dream, They carry that charm wherever they go. “I looked into the mirror, Looking perfectly normal otherwise. But no matter how hard I stared, I just couldn’t find my shine.” Filled the room, Their shrilling chatter all the time. Everybody certainly loves them to bits, And with everybody’s words, their replies rhyme. “I stayed silent and shun, For they were all strangers to the eye. I begged myself in the head to begin a talk, But I couldn’t bring myself to say a simple ‘hi’.” Welcome everywhere, They fit in wherever they’d go. No wonder they were not different, And the same hue they could all show. “I’ve been to places too, Yet felt out of place as well. By Achyutam Sharma (11D) It seems like all their eyes are scanning me, And in their eyes, I fell.” But I have not masks to put on, Rather an identity to perceive. I have not instances interesting enough to tell, But ballads of what I’ve always believed. And I’m not the one they all talk about, But the one whose attention they couldn’t receive. I walk the same way, I DO STUMBLE. I talk the same way, I DO FUMBLE. I’m kept out the same way, I DO CRUMBLE. But there’s some strange peace in being the same, For them to know, but not call your name, For all the right reasons to have less fame, And to play with my rules, Even. If. It’s. Their. Game.
