followed by the waves of sound from the juniors
made the ground shake in grand majesty and such
were the pivotal moments in games hosted at Victoria
Institution – never short of action and competition.
Covid-19 hit and everything changed.
The blues could no longer roar. Nothing was allowed
– no training, no club meetings, no cheering on the
benches and there were no sports events held.
Instead, the weekly co-curricular activity was also
held online. Every Wednesday teacher advisors and
students, duly get together via google meet to hold
online meetings. Not much could be achieved in the
way of physical activity, but there was camaraderie.
Here is the conundrum though - what is the VI
Aquatic Club without the VI pool or what is the VI
Cadet Corps Band (VICCB) without their musical
instruments?
Committee members and teachers worked tirelessly
to conduct fun and interactive club meetings. The
implementation of online co-curricular activities is
important to introduce new members to their
respective organizations. It’s far from what we are
used to but it enables students to learn new skills and
bond among seniors and juniors. And as Victorians,
we are a breed that can adapt for we stand tall and
proud being scholars, sportsmen, and gentlemen.

VIIC E-SPORTS
TOURNAMENT 2021
27TH MARCH 2021
The Covid-19 pandemic had not only brought to
everyone a deadly virus, but it also brought about a
new norm of the lifestyle of doing nothing at home.
Acknowledging this matter, Victoria Institution’s
Interact Club (VIIC) took the opportunity to capture
the attention of gamers around the country by
organizing the VIIC E-SPORTS TOURNAMENT 2021
from the 27th to 28th of March.

event had its opening and closing ceremony

Team “Escape Origin” earned the honour of the
first-ever Champion in this event by taking down
“Kolam Surau” after an intense and strategic
match of tower defence in the Grand Finals. Aside
from the two teams, team “Zutsu” had also played
very well as they were the second runner-up.
As a result, the event went perfectly smooth.

From the 13th through the 19th of April 2021, fellow club
members started off the community service by distributing
bags of goods containing dates, prayer mats, juice boxes,
peanuts and face towels to all academic and non-academic
staff of VI, using club funds and sponsorships.
Thanks to the Rotary Club of Pudu, funding of some RM6000
was given and the VIIC were able to continue their efforts by
donating RM300 to twenty Victorians whose families were in
need of financial aid.
It didn’t just stop there, through a partnership with an NGO
that advocates for the protection of homeless people, the
VIIC strategically channelled club funds to provide blankets
to the homeless people of Kuala Lumpur.
All this was made possible thanks to the leadership of the
club directors as well as teamwork among club members
under the guidance of their respective teacher advisors.
Kudos to the VIIC and all involved for thinking of our school
and the community, especially during these trying times.
