Dear Students,
It is my pleasure to welcome you all to REVA University in Bangalore, India.
Being at a University is an exciting and rewarding experience, offering
opportunities to make new friends, to discover new interests and to develop

The City Life THE CITY OF BANGALORE

Location
Bangalore is the most sought after cosmopolitan city in India. It is located on the
Deccan Plateau in the south-eastern part of Karnataka. The capital of Karnataka

Rukmini Educational Charitable Trust was A Reputation for Excellence
established in the year 2002 by Shri. P.
Shyama Raju, a visionary, an entrepreneur,
CMD of DivyaSree group of companies,
Chairman of REVA group of educational
institutions, philanthropist and now the
Hon’ble Chancellor of REVA University who
is committed to provide world class facilities
for students to pursue high class technical
education.

The Trust has been established with a wider objective of promoting and imparting quality education in
the fields of Engineering and technology, Science, Commerce, Management studies, Arts, Humanities
and Education. Foundations were laid, and the walls of the “New Building,” as it was called, began to rise.
The Trust has developed three different campuses with a built up area of around 1,35,000 Sq. mtrs in a
record period of 12 years.

REVA Campus is one of the largest residential campuses in Karnataka. The 35-acre green lush campus
consists of excellent academic facilities along with fully air conditioned central library and central
computer centre .The REVA Group Comprises of institutes namely, REVA Institute of Technology &
Management, REVA Institute of Science and Management, REVA Institute of Education, REVA Institute of
Management Studies, REVA First Grade College, REVA Degree College (Evening), REVA Independent PU
College at Kattigenahalli, Ganganagar and Sanjaynagar.

Indian Educational system has been in transition in the
recent years. India has the world’s second largest post

expected that this number will double over the next 12
to 15 years. Further the Indian economy is transforming

Your Ideas start Here KNOWLEDGE SPACE

We have adopted the name “Knowledge Space” to
describe our approach because it challenges us to
break barriers and explore the dynamic areas where
different interests can meet and overlap. We make
new and exciting ways of working as we improve
your learning experience at REVA.

Knowledge Space thinking is also reflected in the way that we are approaching our future programs
and their design and our research and enterprise centre’s have led the way in creating open, flexible
work areas with the minimum of rules for how they are used. As we refresh our learning spaces we are
thinking “Knowledge Space” into the layouts.

Teachers create open plan area and form student teams who are assigned a given task / problem / project
on which the team work under the supervision of a teacher. The team is provided with team based
learning facilities and the work environment. Practitioners in industries, R&D sectors and other sectors
are invited to participate in this team based activity.

Working in such team based environment produces newer approach resulting in a new product, new
technique or new thought. It is an exciting experience for students to work under this kind of team based
learning activity. The experiences of this kind are shared in knowledge space. These experiences are
used by others for similar creative work relevant to social needs. These informal spaces are also used for
spur-of-the-moment team meetings and focus groups.

The feedback from some of the employers reaffirms that this is exactly the
approach they would take to encourage innovation in their own organizations.
Indeed during recent past, some industry professionals have come forward to
work with our students and teachers on real world projects involving innovative
development of their projects. Few of them have also established incubation
centres’ to involve students working on specific projects.

REVA has seminar halls/ conference suite equipped with projectors, audio and
recording facility to support such live projects and team based learning. There
is always something exciting happening in these conference rooms that is
relevant to real- world work.

In the previous pages we described our approach of developing the advanced
skills you will need for the business and social community that you will graduate
to. We believe that providing you with the experience of knowledge space
environments like this one is an important element of your student experience
and will prepare you well for the workplace of the future.

RESEARCH AVENUES Explore Your Opportunities

The Research initiatives undertaken at REVA accelerate
human thinking with tools that amplify human intelligence.
The research culture initiative aims at improving quality
of technical education and enhance existing capacity
to become dynamic, demand-driven, quality conscious,
forward looking, proactive and responsive to rapid
economic and technological happenings both at national
and international level. The initiative re-orients both
teaching and research such that, faculty and student could
make more direct and significant contribution to what
has come to known as “Community Based Research and
Resource Management” (CBRRM).

The research methodologies adopted by REVA aim at bringing researchers, academicians, practitioners
and industrialists on to a common platform to realize a win-win scenario. The REVA Institutions have
well qualified, experienced and committed faculty. The faculty is active in organizing and participating
in national, international conferences, seminars and workshops. Over 200 seminars/workshops and
conferences have been organized by the faculty and number of faculty have participated and presented
around 1250 research papers at various conferences, seminars and workshops in the last four years.
There are as many as 500 research articles published in journals by students of REVA. Exclusive research
bulletin comprising of best articles from faculties and students are published annually.

Building Tomorrow SERVICES AND FACILITIES

REVA’s Student Centre is in the heart of our friendly campus, located in the main academic building.
The Student Centre is the cultural and social hub of the campus, it is a safe, stimulating environment
in which you relax and socialize with friends. There are a number of student clubs you can be a part of,
make more friends and learn better skills. You will always find some events happening in the Centre.
So make sure you drop in and say hello.

Library and Information Centre

Our fully air-conditioned library is open from 8.00am to mid-night and provides a mix of learning
environments to meet different student needs, be it a quiet, individual study space or study in group;
you will experience a different atmosphere to concentrate on studies. Just at the left of the entrance
on the ground floor is well equipped conference room for group studies, team working, discussion or
practicing a presentation. While the second and third floors possess textbook holdings in different
disciplines, the first floor of the library devoted for reference collection of more than 5000 holdings. Each
floor of the library has adequate seating facility for comfortable sitting and reading for longer hours. On
the right side of the entrance on ground floor is ICT resource centre with 150 computer systems with
Internet facility. The library is well stocked with over 45,000 books, 32 titles of learned journals about
1000 technical reports and 15 news papers. Our extensive range of on-line resources extend the library
beyond the campus.
The library also has a separate Audio- Visual Section with a seating capacity of 200 and containing over
3000 CDs and many cassettes on different themes.
Our support mechanisms reflect the blurring boundaries , always ready to serve, librarians wait
at enquiry desk offering students friendly help and advice on the use of IT and library resources. All
students are offered formal or informal information skills training at various points during their studies,
to help them develop their capacity to access and evaluate the information they need to develop their
subject expertise.

ICT Resources Enriching Knowledge

Our converged service combines the information provision skills of library staff with the technical expertise of
IT staff. The result is that REVA is one of the leading universities in the use of Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) in the support of teaching and learning, with access to electronic and other information resources
central to every course at the University.
Online access to a vast range of information, including 20,000+ electronic journal titles and huge number
of e-books is available to all our students, researchers and faculty members. You will have exciting
experience of accessing IEL online database of IEEE that contains 1.7 million full text searchable journal
articles, conference papers and IEEE standards. You can also access business source elite collection of
3200+ e-journals and magazines through ProQuest database. Not just that, through NPTEL’s E-Vidya
Media Streaming System through which you will view videos of all programs/ courses brought out by
the NPTEL.
University staff are continually developing innovative ways of using technology to support teaching and
learning through our virtual learning environment, including e-portfolios, podcasts, streaming media
and online discussion groups and quizzes. In our physical classrooms and laboratories, a number of
smart classrooms offer enhanced technology such as interactive whiteboards and classroom response
systems, to improve the overall learning experience for students and staff.

Realising Dreams Sports and Fitness

The multi-gym station helps you to do exercise of your interest
and keep yourself fit and healthy for studies. The outdoor
stadium of International standard of 400 meters athletics,

always enthusiastic in organizing inter-collegiate, inter-
university, state and national level competitions. Your seniors

Academy headed by the Director of Physical Education. The

Accommodation Home away from home

Moving to Bangalore and living in REVA University residence is a great way to meet new friends,
discover new places and develop many new interests.

Students new to Bangalore normally look for places affordable,
comfortable and within easy travelling distance to the University.
REVA hostels are a home away from home. There are 2 hostels
for boys and 2 hostels for girls located within the campus,
accommodating 3200 students. These hostels have single, double
and three bed fully furnished rooms with 24 hours assured
uninterrupted power and water supply. Most modernized
centralized kitchen facility with a seating capacity of 600 persons at a time, and provides you a food
menu of different types to keep you always fit and healthy. They also provide place to make new friends
every day. That apart, you will appreciate hygienic food, clean surroundings and congenial atmosphere
in the hostel. You have residential Warden and residential medical practitioner to take care of your
safety and health.
Accommodation policy
When allocating accommodation, the University gives priority to first entrants and to outstation students
who are new to Bangalore.
Discipline and Security
Discipline/security of inmates is ensured through a well-organized system of in-house warden and
sub-wardens. They also ensure that the Hostel inmates are monitored thoroughly and security is never
compromised.
Festivals and Celebrations
In order to make the students’ stay interesting several festivals and activities like Ganesh Chaturthi, Iftiar
during Ramzan, Diwali, Foreign Students’ Festivals, Christmas, New Year etc, are organized throughout

sitting on the lawns most comfortable. Open air theatre built at Green Park always brings you variety of
cultural programs of different group of students representing different states /countries in the evening
that makes campus colorful and most fascinating.

Higgin Bothams Bookshop

Located on the ground floor of the students main hostel (Block-1) the book shop provides all sorts
of reading materials in print and e-form. You will enjoy the subject book of your choice, latest fast
selling books, novels, treatises, sports magazines and books, books for competitive examinations
and so on. You also will enjoy other materials such as dolls, stationeries etc, you also have variety
of gift items and greeting cards for different occasions to send to your friends and others.

Health Care Centre

Medical dispensary / health centre equipped with necessary medical
appliances and medicines is also located on the ground floor of the students’
main hostel. It takes care of medical needs of all students, faculty and other
staff. The Resident Doctor is always available in the campus to attend to
medical emergencies if any. The health centre also has few beds for in-
patients treatment.
The Health Centre also works in association with nearby Hospitals –
(Columbia Asia Hospital and Shusrutha Hospital) to enable quick admission
for hospitalization in case of medical emergencies. The in-house vehicle is
also available within minutes of call to ensure quick hospitalization.

Campus Shops Enlightening Lives

A welcome open area as you enter, REVA canteen at the entrance of the campus, the main coffee shop
where you can get a lot more than just a coffee. There is a selection of variety of South Indian and North
Indian food items including salads and sweets. A wide range of hot and cold drinks are also available.
It has a relaxed atmosphere where students can have a quiet break between classes, a chance to sit
down, have a coffee and review notes or use the free wi-fi which is available to all students throughout
the Campus.
The Campus Shop is located on the ground floor of the gents’ hostel -1 where REVA canteen-2 is also
located and is always expanding its range of products. So you are sure to find what you need. A wide
selection of sandwiches, snacks, soft drinks, newspapers, stationery and cosmetics are available at the
shop. Everything you could need for lunch or on the way home from university can be found here. The
campus shop also sells an amazing range of REVA branded clothing, a little something to remember your
time at REVA.

Transportation

REVA group of Educational Institutions operate buses to all parts
of Bangalore city for the benefit of students, staff and faculty.
Public transport facility run by the Bangalore Metropolitan
Transport Corporation (BMTC) is also available nearer to the
Campus.

REVA offers comprehensive support to all its students to help and make use the most of your
time with us.

Study

We offer assistance to help you succeed in your studies. Every course incorporates support to help you
develop varied approaches and means of different aspects, such as critical thinking, research and writing,
working in groups and giving presentations. This support is delivered not only by course teachers but
also by the Academic Librarians, IT Trainers, English for Study teachers and the Student Academic
Support advisors/mentors.

Help is also offered on an individual basis out of class. The Academic Librarians can meet with you to
help you use online research tools more effectively. The Student Academic Support advisors can meet
with you to guide you through writing coursework, from understanding your tutor’s instructions and to
review your work before you submit it. They also follow up and monitor your academic performance.

The English for Study teachers provide language support seminars during term time for both Indian
and international students who want to improve their written and spoken language skills for academic
purposes. Bridge courses and remedial classes are routinely conducted to assist specially the academically
weak students in both their subjects as well as in English language so that they join the main stream and
continue their studies with confidence. Physically challenged students are entitled to receive additional
support if they require help or assistance in practical or academic matters.

Our Student Counselors/Mentors, working with other advisors/teachers, can advise on special exam and
assessment arrangements, additional funding for equipment and support, and other personal support
requirements. The Counselor will also liaison with the academic schools to arrange the most appropriate

COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE

Counseling is an opportunity to discuss and explore issues that concern
you, in the company of someone (the counselor) who offers you a
particular time and space to reflect, be heard, and not judged and a place
for you to be supported during times of difficulty. If you are not happy
with aspects of your life, whilst at University, counseling can support
the possibility of change. The counselor’s approach is to enable and
support you to find your own directions in life that suit you as a unique
human being. The counseling service is strictly confidential.

The University has a Student Advisor who provides advice and information on a variety of issues
pertinent to studies, health, accommodation, scholarships, internships, skill development, employment,
and such other issues of REVA students. Advice to foreign students includes information on immigration,

National Service Scheme-NSS

The NSS programs are sponsored by the Government of India with the objective of involving University
students in Nation building activities by utilizing their talent and energy. The NSS students under the
supervision of NSS Coordinator set up NSS camps, medical camps, blood donation camps, camps in rural
areas where in they involve in rural reconstruction programs, such as construction / repair of roads,
