Our Mission
“To Turn Out Intellectually Enlightened, Morally Upright, Spiritually Oriented,

The Cover page of our college magazine is the Golden Jubilee logo. The
two hands symbolize the blessings given from above and joyfully received. The
recipient hand upholds the values of excellence, communion, service and faith that
are the core values of the College. The light/flame of the College is cherished and
passed on to generations of students. The flame embodies Jyoti Nivas College as
the abode of light and the motto ‘Let Your Light Shine’. The dominant colour of
the flag brown honours the Patron Saint of the institution St. Joseph. The number
50 commemorates the special occasion of the Golden Jubilee celebrating it as
‘Suvarna Mahotsava’.

Our college magazine epitomizes the voyage and exhibits the literary
skills of our students. It was quite inspiring to watch and witness the
potential of our students at various stages and situations. The trying
and testing times of the year has elicited our students to put forth their best.
The purpose of our College Magazine is to inform, engage, inspire and entertain a
diverse readership by presenting an intimate, timely and honest portrait of the College
-- its people, its programs, its history, its challenges, its resources and its mission.
This special publication of the Golden Jubilee Magazine is a keen effort of many
who have put their talents together into devoted action towards the realization of the
celebration of our Golden Jubilee.
Attaining 50 years is far from being a period of resting on past achievements and
glory. The period which lies ahead confronts the current and future Students, Staff
and the Administration, with unprecedented challenge - to persist and promote Jyoti
Nivas Pre - University College into a whole new magnitude of expression, escalation
and profusion towards the fulfillment of the vision and mission of our college.
This publication ‘The VOICE’ will serve as a fitting tribute, a historical record
and an enduring relic that will survive the activities of the Golden Jubilee year.
Dear Reader join us as we look back at the year gone by...

PROVINCIAL
Jyoti Nivas College has been in the forefront providing quality education
to women since 1966. The Pre - University College has made consistent
progress in all areas - academic, cultural, sports and team building in
ways relevant to both the staff and students.
It gives me immense pleasure to note that the response to this issue of our

of articles in different sections gives us a sense of pride that our students and
teachers possess creative potential and original thinking in ample measure
and I applaud the stimulated thoughts and varied hues of the articles.
A Commendable job has also been done by the Editorial Board in

MANAGER
The year 2015 has flown by but the activities you staff have conducted
are an unforgettable memory for the students. You have made a mark
in their life academically, socially and spiritually. As mentors you have
given the parents to understand where their ward stands in her academic
performance.
It is encouraging to see the cooperation of the staff in all the activities. May
God bless you and your families this New Year.
The Students Union under the guidance of the staff have bloomed and
excelled in the activities of the College and you have grown together to do
well in your talents.
Students prepare to pass out with distinction. The time is now to put in
more effort into the subject that needs your attention.
The first PUC students, I guess, are putting in all their best to reap a glorious
result. Remember that every moment you study you are earning your way to
grand success.
You are the Golden Batch of Jyoti Nivas College’s Golden Jubilee Year
(1966-2015).
Dear students the motto “Let you light shine” be a torch that you carry to
share mercy, compassion and love with the weak and down trodden of our
society. Sr. Lousia, the Principal, your guidance, care, concern and support for
the staff is outstanding. May God bless you and keep you in His good care.
Wishing each one of you a Happy New Year! May God lead you in all the

Gift of Life
A thin blue line, mellow soul. Attired in a pink dress,

I want to be a princess, And declare myself as the Mad Hatter,

Is what makes every little boy inspired. But And take a seat,
when I was a kid, Because I’m going to tell you
I didn’t want to be the former or the latter, So A little something about the Mad man; who is
this little girl put on a red wig, me!
And became the crazy Mad Hatter! When people see My eccentric life
People told me I’ve gone completely bonkers! And the silly things I do, They often ask,
How could a girl play a mental man? “Mad Hatter sir,
But as the madhatter once said, Why do you do the things you do?” Well my

mad!” And this should be your motto too,
So here I stand, Don’t question your desires and thoughts,
In front of the whole world, So when asked, just answer back “Why in the
world not?”
I knew a girl,
With a funny name
Her name was Alice Liddell She was full of life
With a spark in her eyes,
Sparks I’d never seen in someone so little.
Well once at tea,
We were speaking, her and me, And she said,
“I don’t think so,” I got so angry, I got so mad,
I was disappointed and I was sad. I said to her,
“My little girl,
If you don’t ever think,
Then you shouldn’t talk, and not just you, But
anyone who doesn’t think.
Now you may be thinking, (And thank god
you are!)
