WHAT IS ROTARACT?
Youth always plays a big role in making this world a better place to live in. They can
utilize their energy in incredible ways that can help in bringing a change and create
a better tomorrow.
Rotaract is a youth run Rotary International sponsored organization which runs at a
club level. They conduct events, camps and donation drives to give back to the
society. Rotaract clubs hold formal meetings, usually every two weeks, which feature
speakers, special outings, social activities, discussions or visits to other clubs. Club
members get together on designated days for service project work, social events or
professional/leadership development workshops.
Rotaract originally began as Rotary International youth
program in 1968 at Charlotte North Rotary Club in
Charlotte, North Carolina, United States and has grown
into a major Rotary sponsored organizations of over
10,904 clubs spread around the world and 250,792
members in 184 countries. It is a leadership, professional
and community service organization for young men and
women above the age of 18 years.
Rotaract PDEU was established on 4th December 2013.
The club has evolved in an exceptional manner throughout the years. It has activities
promoting not only social causes and community needs but also professional
development and leadership skills among the people. Some of the events which have
been craved on hearts of people are PDEU haat - a flea market, Unn Dino ki baatein -
A Valentine’s Day celebration at old age home, blood donation camps and many other.
From a small team to a big team we have come a long way where Rotaractors have
been ever ready to serve.
The Rotaract Club of PDEU organizes various drives such as Blood Donation Drive,
Cleanliness Drive and Paper drive, etc. Moreover, there are different projects such as
Being Santa, Unn Dinon ki Baatein where members visit Old Age Homes and
Heritage Hunt, an event which focuses to make people aware and help preserve the
World Heritage Sites across the world and many such outstanding events.
NOTE FROM CORE
2020-21
Rotaract PDEU has always aimed to give back to society in various ways
and over the years it has come a long way in accomplishing its goals,
inspiring lives, and creating impacts. This year has been an exceptional
and unique one with the pandemic accompanying us in our journey.
Strength is something that lies within you! And these tough times make
you realize your inner strength and put them into action. Despite being a
year full of uncertainties, our members have shown positivity, zeal,
determination and willingness to which today we stand as a team of 100
plus members and 35+ successful and impacting events and projects
around the year the club has been able to grow exceptionally.
From being a volunteer to board member then receiving the opportunity
for serving this tenure as the President; it’s been a long way! The journey
has been beautiful, it has been full of learnings, and memories. The
RTR. DEVANSHI BABLA support given to the vision from the advisors, trainer, core team, board,
members, and volunteers has been wonderful. This year the theme was
“Ignite the Spark” as we aimed for people to allow their inner
freely and optimize their capabilities.
No doubt, it has gracefully souled among us the entire year and has also been inculcated by members as I
see wonderful leaders coming from the club leading it ahead.
This newsletter shares our 365 days journey of serving together, building leadership and self-development
skills. It’s been enchanting how the club has not only excelled in addressing the social causes but has also
created a vast impact on building up professional skills and leadership skills among its members and the
people around.
To the readers, this covers all our activities done throughout the year and I am sure at the end you will find
something which makes you Ignite the Spark within you!
To the Board of Directors, dearest members, and volunteers YOU ARE AMAZING! It's been a pleasure to
have you onboard and rise together. Your eagerness to learn, support, and willingness to give back to
society has been commendable. Even during the pandemic times the way you have portrayed your skills
and worked hard, it has been a pleasure to have you all on board.
To the upcoming leaders, we are sure you shall keep striving for the best and working towards the goal of
the club. Try to grab every opportunity and I am sure it shall open many more opportunities for you. As
you keep giving your service to the club, what the club gives back to you is immeasurable. All the best!
A big thank you to OSAIL, District 3054, our participants, collaborators, and every single person who has
been a part of our journey. Your support means a lot to us! You have made us stronger and given us more
reasons to keep serving.
It’s been 3 years in the club and it seems like forever! Since the beginning,
I have always wished to contribute to the main motive of this organization
which is “fellowship through service”. I always believe that Rotaract PDEU
is not just a club, it is an emotion. Rotaract PDEU conducts various events
for the welfare of the society throughout the year through which a person
learns ample of things like administration, communication skills, public
speaking, management, decision making, and many such things which
can’t be quantified with the help of numbers.
This year (2020-21) has been a roller-coaster ride as we all are not on
campus due to covid-19 and we have to conduct all the events through an
online medium. As a Secretary, I had a wonderful opportunity to explore
my role and the club better. The work was challenging during the
pandemic but today it gives me so much pleasure to share that we
conquered the challenges and were able to hold the motto of the club. All R T R . P R I N C E T H A K K A R
this was possible due to a great dedication by the entire team! I am
thankful to all the people that I have met through Rotaract PDEU
including all my fellow core members, Board members, and especially
my seniors who have always given me that opportunity to grow myself as a better person. Through this
newsletter, with our entire year journey, I would urge you all to take a step up and never miss an
opportunity to give back to society. To the team, to all the future core members, board members,
members and volunteers always remember whichever post you are working ,you have that opportunity to
make a change at a micro-level and work for the betterment of society and the club. Everything that you
do, even if it is a small thing, the intentions should be right and the results will take care of itself.
KEEP IGNITING THE SPARK!! KEEP ROTARACTING!
RTR. PRIYAL BHANDARI Rotary has always been in my family, I fully immersed myself into Rotaract
after witnessing RYLA and being in the interact club in my school and
haven’t looked back since, and when I came to college, I got an
opportunity to be a part of this wonderful club called Rotaract club PDEU.
During the first year I was just another volunteer in the college though, I
was very active attending almost all events, meetings. And the next year I
was the publicity head. The whole year was a roller coaster for me. Trying
to settle down in college and handling this very important post was a
task. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every bit of it. I started knowing people,
made a lot of new friends and learnt a lot. Then during the year, I got
another responsibility of handling the community service avenue, which I
was always so much into. Two posts in a year, handling lots of events,
giving tons of new ideas, it was a great year. Vice president 2020-21, it was
a tough job to be at such an important position of the club and manage
everything because it was online, and this pandemic made things more
difficult. We planned it well, and yes, we had a great team which made
this year successful. I was the girl who was terrified of public speaking — or even putting forward her
opinions in a meeting but Rotaract helped me overcome my fears. It is amazing how fear slips away when
you are in a comfortable, supportive environment, surrounded by people who share your passion. A
message to all the upcoming volunteers, members, board members, core members, it is a wonderful
opportunity, you will learn so much during the whole process. Life gives you chances to create a meaning.
Out of the same paper, we can make a book, a ticket, a boat, or an aircraft. Our destiny is not what we get,
but what we make out of what we already have. Let us make it more meaningful by doing good for the
people around us. The journey is beautiful, there is always going to be growth, improvement, adversity, you
just need to take it all in.
KEEP ROTARACTING!
AND DON’T FORGET TO SPREAD SMILES.
I joined Rotaract in my first year and hardly knew any person. Gradually, I RTR. ZEEL BHATT
got to know people in meetings and events and by the end of my first
year, I made some amazing friends! The club has taught me a lot as with
each event I learnt something new and worked on different types of
things.
This year, as a treasurer, I got to learn and experience a lot. Since we were
functioning online, there were a lot of restrictions. The year had its own
set of challenges as at the start of the year there was no clarity on how we
would carry forward and whether we would be able to be back on
campus! We still hope we’ll be back soon. ;) To all the club members,
“Grab all the opportunities as the club gives you a platform to meet so
many new people, new things to experience and a lot of memories to
cherish!” Trust me, you will learn a lot and make some amazing memories.
Keep Rotaracting!
RTR. STUTI NAIR As a volunteer, Rotaract was all about making friends, having fun and
exploring the essence of events. As the Documentation Head, I not only
learnt a great deal about how powerful words can be, but it opened many
doors for me. At the risk of sounding cliché, I evolved as an individual
because of Rotaract. I always had an inclination towards communication,
but after joining Rotaract, I had a stage to present that. Moreover, I had
the best cheerleaders. Rotaractors; seniors, juniors and batch mates alike,
with their constant support and encouragement, pushed me to get
better, to grow out of my comfort zone. It's the genuine appreciation and
belief, which makes you go the extra mile. And I've had the privilege of 3
Rotaract Presidents believing in me. Just imagine.
Finally as the COO, during this crazy 2020, Rotaract kept me going. Be it
the Google meets or amazing events, it was filled with learning and fun.
At Rotaract, you trust the people you work with, you trust their work,
commitment and above all, you trust their cause. And this trust alone,
brought not 1, but 2 massive opportunities my way, for which I'd be
forever grateful. It's not as much about building the connections, as it is about sharing friendships, sharing
trust. You might not realize it while living these moments, but when you look back and reflect, you know
how far you've come and how you've bloomed. Rotaract always remains a part of who you are.
It all began in the fresher's year, when I joined rotaract as a mere
volunteer thinking it's all about social service. It was a great journey in the
club, learning umpteen skills and meeting new folks from different walks
of life. My interest in graphic designing soared sky high and I was also
nominated as District Graphics Chairperson. The leap from club level to
District level was pretty amazing. Rotaract, in all, made me worldly wise
and shrewd :)
A word of advice to new Rotaractors,
KEEP ROTARACTING!
RTR. RAJ BHAVSAR
2020 was an unusual year, just like Rotaract Board 2020-21 - Unusual
People, Remarkable Team and Extraordinary leadership. To serve, plan
and perform on a virtual platform and execute 35 events is not something
we see on a regular basis. This was unusually extraordinary!
Best Rotaract Performing Year Till Now. Period
As I graduate, I feel lucky to be a part of such a club all four years of my
college, because not only it helped me grow professionally but personally
as well. Also giving me the best kind of tribe, because I always believe- It's
not about any roles, positions in the club or the even the club, it's always
about the people and the community we build we choose and we
nurture.
I am extremely happy and proud to witness the growth of Rotaract PDEU.
Will be forever grateful!
P P R T R . J AY N I T H A K K A R
It has been an absolute honour for me to serve at Rotaract Club PDEU for 4 IPP R T R . R A H I L J A N I
th enthusiasm
and excitement ready to grab every single opportunity and to give my best.
In a year I was a board member serving as the Community Service Director
and got an opportunity to lead a few projects and events. I then went on to
become the President of the club and got this huge opportunity to lead this
club. This experience taught me a million things. It gave me an opportunity
to make an impact in the society and across all kinds of domains but
simultaneously also helped me become a better individual.
Team 2020-21 has done a wonderful job in spite of being in these
challenging times. Rotaractors worked virtually and made the best out of
the available resources and opportunities. It was also amazing to see
members working extensively in spite of not being able to meet in person.
Every event and project done was so perfectly planned and executed. It is
my pleasure that I served as the advisor of the club in the tenure. I
congratulate and wish best to the upcoming team.
I
RTR. VAISHNAVI JOSH It's been 4 years but it feels like Rotaract has always been a part of my life.
I began as member , I remember how I gave my interview to Rutva , it was
much of discussion , and then I was in, and since then and yet I have
always continued to grow professionally and personally, learnt to
overcome my fears, put on my foot to take leadership, help my fellow
rotaractors to implement their ideas and the list goes on. Every time I
came to club meetings it was something new to learn and take back with
myself. I was always excited for events and more when we all gathered to
discuss how we should go about it. Brainstorming was always fun, I came
out of my own comfort zone, I spoke to people, I made some great friends
for life .
When I got the post of treasurer I was more than delighted as well
nervous to hold up a position in the core , it was a new role , a new side of
me to explore , As in the last year of mine being the club trainer it was a
joy to see the new members take their new roles , set new bars ,create
magic, and amid this pandemic all of you have done a commendable job.
Now when I look back to the wonderful 4 years of college I have lived, I
couldn't have imagined it to go by beautifully without Rotaract club along with the members , the
volunteers and everyone who was a part of Rotaract. This is my family and I will always like to call it so. It is
so heartfelt that my 4 years have ended but I take back memories and learnings. I will always want to be
a part of Rotaract for the rest of my life.
My future leaders and by future leaders I call all and everyone who is a part of Rotaract or will be with
utmost dedication, hard work, emotions and the willingness to make a change for oneself and the world ,
you are surely gonna achieve success. You are surely going to make a change , be an inspiration , touch
lives, win hearts ,create a better world for the rest. I personally believe once you are part of Rotaract there
is no looking back, you are always learning and somewhere always teaching too.
All the best to all of you .
NOTE FROM BOARD
2020-21
It has been a great experience for me being a part of the Rotaract family.
A year ago, I was given the opportunity to become a part of the board
committee as the Community Service Director for 2020-21. It is said that
Community Service Avenue is the heart of Rotaract club and I would
totally agree with it. It was a fun experience in which I learnt a lot of
things in different areas, I believe it taught me how to manage a group of
people and to be more punctual. Though things around us changed in a
way we never expected --- coronavirus took a toll on everyone changing
the nature of certain things - be it lectures or seminars, meetings or
events while we were used to doing all of that in person (offline
mediums) , from that everything changed to being online. In times like
these, we were divided by distance but united by the internet. The
RTR. MUDRA PUROHIT circumstances had a major effect on community service avenue as it
was a little difficult to conduct events be it donation drives or mental
health seminars but due to the support from core, board, members
and volunteers, our avenue was still able to pull off several events
that reflected the true meaning of 'service before self'. Even though some things were difficult to manage,
it was made much easier with constant support -- the core was always around to help clear even the
smallest doubts, the board was right there to give ideas and help in conducting the events smoothly, the
members and volunteers were enthusiastic as always to participate in all programs or events organised by
all the avenues directors and department heads.
Saumya Zhaveri, community service director for 2021-22 is someone with great ideas and ways to carry
out the events in a proper manner. He comes with not just creative ideas but also the ones who h would
do good for the people.
I still remember the day I gave my interview for being a volunteer and
how I was cluelessly going through the club’s Instagram. So much has
changed since then. As a volunteer, I was always in awe of how the
members could organize such amazing events. Little did I know that a
year later, I would be working very similarly.
Being a club service director has challenged me and taught me a lot. I
learned to be responsible and confident. I learned how to communicate
and work with others. I am grateful to be a part of such a creative and
inspiring team. My seniors have set the bar high, but I hope we can make
them proud next year.
To the successive team, I hope you take advantage of the opportunity to
take this club to the next level and allow yourself to grow in ways you
couldn’t imagine.
RTR. ARUSHI SHRIVASTAVA
It’s been more than 2 years working with this club. It really helped increase
my communication skills, management power. Rotaract PDEU is one of
the best clubs in District 3054 and these are not my words, but
compliments from different clubs.
Serving as the International Service Director, during letterhead exchange I
got to know really nice people from different clubs. This year we did a total
of 35 letterhead exchanges which is the highest till now. ISD events like
Fun With Flags, Rotaractopedia and hosting Awareness about Rotary
Exchange Program somewhere boosted my confidence to host events.
Whoever is the new International Service Director, all the very best. And a
small tip, take maximum advantage and learn new things and do most of
it. Will be always there to help you fellow Rotaractors!
RTR. HARSHAY SHAH
Working with Rotaract has been a joyride. It has helped me grow, explore,
learn and of course meet some amazing people. Every event organized by
Rotaract PDEU has served the community and left an impact and I am
proud to be a part of that impact.
Being an International Service Director, I had the privilege to meet and
contact different people from around the districts. Chairing events like
Rotaractopedia and Awareness about Rotary Exchange Program helped
me explore the opinions of others and helped me thrive.
For the International Service Director(s) of 2021-22, I wish you all the luck. I
hope you learn, bloom, and achieve new success in the club and for the
avenue, I only have one suggestion –“ Don’t limit your challenges.
Challenge your limits”.
RTR. SACHI DAMANI
RTR. HARSIT SAIKIA When everyone was rushing to give a whole bulk of club interviews when
we joined college, I was busy choosing which club would I be most
comfortable in. I stumbled upon Rotaract Club. The sense of
inquisitiveness and curiosity crept into me when I walked down those
stairs towards my club interview. Those two qualities have stayed with me
even after completing 2 years with the club. To explain how this club has
impacted me is like a road trip along with your best friends (I would prefer-
Khaabon Ke Parinday playing in the background). They support you, push
you to do new things, you learn things from them, and countless
memories are made- it was the same with Rotaract and the wonderful
team I was a part of.
I find it hard to write something even though I was the Content and
Documentation Head of 2020-21. It’s truly said, “not everything can be
expressed in words.”
For the upcoming team I would like to say that a picture is worth a
thousand words, but a memory is priceless. Grab every opportunity which
comes across you and you will find that you have learnt a lot from it.
Always focus on the journey, the destination will be beautiful in itself.
Working with Rotaract has been amazing. It has helped me explore, learn
and get a chance to work with different and amazing people. Each and
every event organized by Rotaract PDEU has helped people in many ways
and has left an impact. I am grateful to be a part of this community.
As the Publicity head, I had the chance to gain contact and help with
various events such as Eco-friendly Ganesh making workshop , Samanvay
2.0. This helped me explore and expand my knowledge as well as skills.
For the publicity head of 2021-22, I wish you all the luck and happiness. I
hope you grow and get better and achieve new success in the club. I
would like to give you only one piece of advice - Try new things and never
stop exploring.
RTR. VAISHNAVI DESAI
RTR. ARIHA GANDHI My journey with the Rotaract Club of PDEU for the past two years has
been wonderful. Through different community service events, I’ve
understood the value of giving back to society and how kindness has a
greater positive impact on everyone’s lives.
I’m very grateful for the opportunity of being the Graphic Designing Head
of Rotaract for the year 2020-21. Leading the GD department pushed me
out of my comfort zone and brought in a variety of challenges that made
me more driven towards my work. It nurtured a creative side that I wasn’t
aware of. This indeed increased my curiosity to learn more about
designing and propelled me to constantly upgrade my skills set. Looking
back from today, I’m glad that I could cater to the demands of the team
and successfully head the department.
To the successive team, I wish you the best. Being a part of Rotaract has
been a great learning experience. I hope it helps you in recognizing your
potential and making you more aware about your strengths, weaknesses
and capabilities. This club has so much to offer, squeeze every ounce of
this opportunity!
Greetings to all the fellow club members! I’ve been an active member of RTR. PRIYANSHI HURKAT
the Rotaract Club since my first year. I was pulled towards the club
because of its really remarkable and unique activity which was conducted
during our induction week. Apart from that, I have always believed in
contributing for a good cause and doing my bit for society. It’s because of
this club that I’m able to turn my beliefs into actions and also get to hone
my social and leadership skills.
I got the post of “Social Media Head for 2020-21” along with Suman. My
journey of being a head of department has actually been a great learning
experience. During my tenure I looked after our club’s social media
handles, generated interaction and publicity for our events.
A lesson I learnt from being a part of the club is “Being in a club doesn’t
only teach you how to interact with people who are different from you but
might also lead you towards your interests and goals”. It has been an
incredible journey so far and I think you can’t really know what it has in
store for you unless you experience it. It has been a truly fulfilling
experience to be a part of the largest club in our university.
I actually recall my first day as a Rotaract volunteer in school. I used to
teach Wednesday and Friday afternoons in government schools. At first, it
was just a part time activity that I was a part of along with my friends.
However, I never acknowledged how and when it turned into something
lasting. I was teaching them new things every week and yet I was
discovering that it’s important to love the way you are and be appreciative
for all that you have. What’s more, from that point forward, I never needed
to disappear from this feeling, this peace and warmth that I felt by giving
or rather I should say by sharing something that I had. It has been nearly 4
years since I have been a part of Rotaract, and I never leave an opportunity
to help anyone in need. Social Media and Publicity Head is only a title that
gives me more opportunities to help people around me and I hope to do
likewise in coming years.
RTR. SUMAN SHINGALA
Actions begin with a desire and so was my journey with Rotaract. I always
loved and was compassionate towards social work as it gives me happiness
and satisfaction and that was the only reason I joined rotaract. But when I
joined rotaract I didn’t know I would be able to learn so many new things .
Not only connecting to new people and doing social work is the motto of
Rotaract but it also emphasizes personal growth and learning . It provided
me with various opportunities and platforms where I learned and was able
to showcase my skills and improve myself in every manner. The journey of
being in Rotaract is really amazing and my experience throughout this
journey has been just astonishing. I not only learned things or managed
events but it also boosted me to do more for the club and the society.
Along with all this, it also gave me a box full of memories that I would
cherish forever. I always find myself more comfortable with art and colours,
and was a member of the Fine arts team and working under Shailee and RTR. DHRUMI PATEL
Chetanaya was the best thing. The way they handled our team and the
qualities they possessed as team leaders was very inspiring. Now being the
head of fine arts for the current year is all over a new experience.
Definitely you carry a lot of responsibility as a team leader but it is worth it when you have great team
members. I wish all the best and good luck to all the new team members and I am pretty sure just like
previous years all again the new Rotaract family will shine and glow together. Looking forward to a
productive and fruitful year with everyone.

PLASTIC AWARENESS
DRIVE
“The fight against plastic pollution”
“We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of
people doing it imperfectly.”
PLASTIC is creating a 400-year problem. 91% of plastics are not recycled. 99% of plastics
cause Climate change. Marine animals are under threat. This is ultimately affecting
‘Us’.
We are EATING plastic : ¼ of fish have plastic in their gut.
We are DRINKING plastic: 83% of tap water samples contain plastic.
We are BREATHING plastic: Microplastics are linked to air pollution.
The club aimed to achieve UN SDG 14 (Life below Water). It delved into the problems
arising out of plastic use and provided solutions to it. A Google form was circulated
which focused on how much an individual knew the use of plastic in his/her daily life.
The solutions were posted on the social media account of Rotaract PDPU, which
consisted of team members making videos on how to curb plastic usage and few DIY
videos.

QQUAARRAANNTINTEINE
STTOORRIEISES
“The only nation I’m visiting this spring is imagination.”
Pretty much the phase everyone was able to live up with in their quarantine days.
To make the quarantine life more productive and a bit more fun, the club organised
a sit home event called ‘Quarantine Stories’. This was a fun based event where both
the students and the staff were asked to share their experience of quarantine life.
These experiences were to be shared in a write-up format with some pictures or
videos complementing the particular individual’s quarantine stories.
The club received a total of 30 submissions. It was not only an event but a platform
to exchange ideas, learnings and experiences. The event was such an amazing
opportunity for the club and also the participants to indulge in their experiences at
home and the participants (inclusive of both the students and staff at PDPU) were
more than excited to start trying out the different things described in the stories
submitted by the other participants.
Overall, the sit at home, ‘Quarantine Stories’ event was all fun and made the
quarantine lives of the students and faculty of PDPU more exciting and interesting.

“Protect the Values Of
An Inclusive Nation”
“You can take out an Indian out of INDIA but you cannot take out
India out of an INDIAN.”
India, with its history of colonialism, economic crisis as well as other deadly epidemics,
has always shown a strong stance of "Unity in Diversity" despite all odds. With the
biggest pandemic of the century prevailing, one could only reminisce about the sacrifices
made on several fronts by our leaders, army, front line workers and even the citizens.
One such important day in the history of India is 15th August marking the end of British
rule and formation of a Democratic India.
To convey the sheer respect and patriotism that one holds for the largest democracy in
the world, Rotaract Club of PDEU provided a platform to them with the event "Letter to
the Nation 2.0". The participants could deliver their message on various grounds of
creativity varying from artwork, write-up, photography as well as videography. The
winners were awarded with cash prizes and a special mention on the club's social media
accounts. The participants were given an E-certificate for their sincere participation.
The overwhelming participation in the event successfully conveyed the goal of bringing a
sense of togetherness and warmth during the hardships of the year 2020. It instilled a
sense of pride and patriotism for the nation amongst all the participants, club members
and audience. One could feel the sense of Indianness in all the creative pieces that were
submitted in the event.

| AUGUST 2020 |
Full-time architect and Ganesh sculptor Shivam Vijay Sonawane
from Maharashtra was called to undertake this workshop. Mr.
Sonawane demonstrated the making of an eco-friendly Ganesh
murti to 30 enthusiastic participants of all age groups. The
diversity of participant represented that festivals are not limited to
certain cultures or people but are celebrated by everyone. The
event brought in a lot of confidence in people as they shared their
side of the experience and understanding. The response generated
was incredibly positive and enthusiastic as people engaged
themselves with the thought of sculpting their own Ganesh murti.

TEACHERS’S DAY
SPECIAL
In these changing times an Instagram live was organised for the celebration of
Teachers’ day rather than a traditional teams meeting with Prof. Pradeep Kumar
Mallik.
The best quality about a teacher is they never stop learning. Instagram live and
speaking to a camera is something that gives p to the Gen Z as well, which teachers do
it every day. Just listening to Prof. Mallik was a life lesson in itself. The experiences he
had in his corporate sector and as well as the education sector was like the reels of a
movie. Listening to the anecdotes of college which we left hastily in March 2020, made
the students and professor miss the old days even more. Change is the only constant
but remembering the old days never fails to bring a smile. The pandemic changed the
whole scenario. Forcing us to try out new trending things and also restricting us
between four walls. From the point of view of a student who goes through an
altogether different motivational phase to wake up from her/his comfortable bed and
rush to college. Follow the same routine again and again, is only because she/he looks
forward to hearing and learning from the educators who work tirelessly to provide us
the best possible solution.
‘A teacher affects eternity: he can never tell where his influence stops.’ –Henry Adams

WORLD
GRATITUDE DAY
World Gratitude Day has been celebrated for 56 years and this year,
Rotaract decided to be a part of this tradition. We decided to
celebrate gratitude day by thanking our frontliner warriors. We
made short videos thanking doctors, sanitation workers, NGOs,
bank employees, farmers, teachers, policemen, soldiers who
worked harder than ever during the pandemic. They are the
backbone of the country and why we are safe and sound in our
homes. By posting these thank you videos on our social media, we
wanted to reach as many people as we could and spread awareness
about the importance of their duty. Their compassion, optimism
and kindness cannot go unnoticed. Showing gratitude is one of the
simplest yet most powerful things human beings can do for each
other.

AWARENESS ABOUT YOUTH EXCHANGE
MUST DO THINGS IN YOUR 20s -
What if you can get all these boxes ticked in just one go?
Rotaract knows and understands you, it has come up with a
Youth Exchange Program.
The speakers for the webinar were Rtr. Megha Pakhare, Rtn. Tushar Shah,
Rtn.Bhanu Gupta, Mansi Mehta, Rtr. Sankalp Kaushik.
Imagine going to a different country like Brazil, Netherlands, Mexico. Places
that you have only seen through movies. Talking to people and trying to
understand perspective, their traditions and values, listening to stories and
experiences. Rtn. Tushar Shah shared an experience when he was travelling to
the Netherlands that they do not have the practice of offering water when any
guest comes home. This shows the culture of the country and ideologies.
It was elegantly presented by Rtn.Bhanu Gupta that a child lives in a cocoon
made by their parents. This youth exchange program opens doors to endless
possibilities. It makes her/him confident and independent. It gives her/him the
courage to take a leap of faith.

PPDDPUPUHAHAAT A3.T0 3.0
The long grown tradition of PDPU HAAT 3.0 went on social media to publicise
local brands and help them reach larger masses. The week-long Vocal for
Local allowed us to help vendors reach more people. As business activities
slowed down during the pandemic, we provided people with a platform to
connect with enthusiastic buyers. We publicised small businesses and their
products on different social media platforms like Instagram. As social media
rose in its usability, we took the opportunity to use our social media to reach
more and more people and boost their products. With the help of our project
chairperson, Rtr. Ariha Gandhi, Rtr. Dhrumi Patel and Rtr. Suman Shingala, we
created a list of vendors to help them through our initiative. Reaching out to
vendors, explaining the event, convincing them, following up with them every
few days for pictures and information were just a few of the stepping stones
along the way. Ariha, our GD head, wracked her brains for days to come up
with the perfect catalogue to illustrate the products, making it appealing,
portraying their uniqueness through just one picture was a task.
Communicating the purpose of the event through social media was the most
important aspect of the virtual haat. During the shopping spree, we even
conducted an Evening Musical Break on Instagram to increase engagement
and encourage people to connect with these vendors and shop locally. We
had four singers, who entertained our audience through their melodious
voices .

The event promoted 21 vendors like Saadgi, Sewa and Blind people's
association.
Hiya Bagdev, a 10-year old, was determined to make a difference in the
world by donating Diyas and Decorative items to be donated to the Divya
Shakti Foundation.
The Blind People's Association is an organisation that believes in
providing equal opportunities to all categories of people with disabilities.
This allowed us to understand their work and why this association is
important for people. The employment and placement services are one
step towards providing employment and self-employment opportunities
for people with disability so that they can be financially independent and
self-sufficient.
Saadgi is an initiative that offers its thoughtful buyers a wide range of
bags up-cycled from the fabric waste of textile factories. These bags are
simple, durable, washable and cotton-based. The women-folk of
Nayakheda Gaon, Udaipur are the core of Saadgi who with their
leadership, creative designing and stitching abilities empower this
initiative.
Sameer started his small business eight years ago in Ahmedabad, law
garden. He started his small business selling earrings, cosmetics and
make -up products. Sameer still sits at Law Garden. His business usually
flourishes during the festival of Navaratri.

POSTER MAKING
The poster making (canva) event was conducted by the Rotaract club of PDEU. As
the entire year was operational through online means, the club felt that everyone
needs to be equipped with some skill that can help them create content on an
online network site. In the event there was a small training session for the
volunteers wherein they were made familiar with basic creative angles on Canva.
We presented them with the making of different posters initially followed by an
exercise which enabled them to apply the knowledge. With the help of this
workshop we were able to get our volunteers to a level where they could produce
different creative posters, feeds or and other identical designs.
The event was conducted by Rtr. Priyanshi Hurkat and Rtr. Suman Shingala, the
Social Media and Publicity heads of the Rotaract Club of PDEU. A total of 10 Social
Media and Publicity volunteers had participated and the event was very
interactive. The participants had also made the posters and sent it for a review
and feedback to the event in-charge. Through this event they were able to work
better and more efficiently in their respective departments of the club.

GO GREEN DIWALI
The official event of fun & learning
CREATIVE WEBINARS WITH ENVIRO FREAKS
Motive- Na Dhoom Na Dhamaka, Iss baar no Pataka.
After going through all the mental stress due to the massive pandemic and limiting
ourselves within the four walls of our home, the long and dark atmosphere was awaiting to
get enlightened. With an ongoing crisis on the footsteps of the world which redefined the
entire setting and functioning of various aspects, the auspicious festivity of Diwali had to
find its way to spread its warmth and message all over the country in a modern yet
traditional manner. With a similar motive to celebrate the festival by acknowledging
creativity and spreading an important message of sustainability , Rotaract Club of PDEU in
collaboration with Envirofreaks (The Environment Club of PDEU) introduced two events
under the initiative “Go Green Diwali” with an agenda of “Na dhooom Na dhamaka, Iss baar
no phataka”.
The first event under this initiative was an eco-friendly and sustainable workshop
conducted by Ms. Seema Agarwal. It comprised of a complete tutorial on how to make
handmade crafts, hangings and diyas from scratch with easily available materials like
newspapers, pencils, colours and colourful stones. The entire workshop focused on using
sustainable materials which could be easily reused, recycled and reduced without any
further harm to the environment as well as not compromising on the decorations for
Diwali.
This tutorial is made public to people through the Instagram handle of the club with
an aim to continuously spread awareness to all the viewers beyond the workshop
conducted. Ms. Seema, with her proactive and quirky nature, while conducting the
workshop, mentioned her wish to take such informative sessions on campus with a
personal touch and motivated every participant to adopt a sustainable lifestyle for
the betterment of the future.
The workshop was further accompanied by a competition giving everyone a platform
to showcase their creativity with an inspiration of sustainability. The participants
were urged to show their version of sustainable creatives for Diwali. This competition
brought a humongous level of participation varying between many authentic and
fascinating ideas such as decorations by reusing plastic bottles and containers,
paper decorations, rangoli patterns with food grains and much more.
The competition was judged by Mrs.Khushali Purohit.
This collaboration with Envirofreaks brought the correct amount of seriousness to
the motive of the initiative and enabled both the clubs to expand their horizon and
grow exponentially. It enabled the event to be a balanced package of fun, joy and
happiness along with the delivery of a crucial message alongside it.

“Social media is not just a spoke on the wheel of marketing.
It’s becoming the way entire bicycles are built”
With the spread of Covid, everyone around the globe is confined to sit inside the four
walls throughout the day without any physical and human contact. During such
hardships, social media is the primary platform which acts as an aid to communicate
with our closed ones and to keep the business running. Social media has a plethora of
benefits spanning from discovery of new ideas, growing the brand by bringing traffic to
the account and connecting with people on a deeper level. In order to leverage the
benefits of the multi-functional social media platforms, Rotaract Club of PDEU organised
a webinar called “Building career through Social Media ''.
The speaker of the webinar, Mr. Pavak Unadkat is the club trainer of Rotaract Club of
Ahmedabad Prahladnagar and Associate Coordinator of RID 3054. Along with this, he
has been the founder of organisations like: The Waffling Station (a food truck), Rajkot
Social (an open air café with food trucks, tents and open mic), Pukka Media (graphic
designing and digital marketing agency) and Work easy Co-working Space.
With his extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of social media, he discussed
the growing pattern of digital space and the need of digital presence in today's faced
paced life. He even touched upon each social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook
and LinkedIn and a road map inculcating several points on how to excel these platforms.
Since social media is a booming yet aloof area, the audience was very curious on different
aspects which were addressed by him in an elaborate manner.
Rotaract Clubs all around the world aim at preparing leaders
in all areas of life. With the same motto, this event was brought
into shape to provide the scratching heads with definite
answers and clear direction.

| DECEMBER 2020 |
"Jingle bells, Jingle bells, Jingle all the way, Oh what fun is it to ride in one horse open
sleigh.
Hey!"
Christmas is the festival of warmth, empathy and belongingness where people exchange
gifts, cook, sing jingles as well as cherish the lifelong companionship and bonds created.
Rotaract Club of PDEU, as an organisation, always believes in the saying "We live in one
world together. It's more important than ever to be friends with all". With the same spirit
put forward, we decided to celebrate Christmas to bring the world a step closer to
compassion, joy and fulfilment with the event "Being Santa 3.0".
The event was conducted in a span of 10 days ranging from 16th-25th December 2020.
Representatives of the club in Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Vadodara, Raipur and Surat
distributed warm clothes and accessories to the needy. Our teams in all five cities covered a
wonderful span of people. At the end of the event, we had distributed more than 100
blankets. The smiles on the faces of the young and old, male and female brightened the
day of the representatives.
The year of 2020 was full of challenges and hindrances for everyone where people even
struggled to survive and stay afloat. During such hardships, an event like Being Santa
helped everyone to be grateful for the life they were enjoying as well as express kindness
and solitude for people whom they can help based on their capacity and well-being. The
environment was filled with joy on being able to celebrate by bringing a change in the
society and the true meaning of celebrating Christmas was achieved.

RAISING FOR A CAUSE
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much". This simple yet a
very powerful belief penned down by Helen Keller has a defining moment
on the collective effort we can make as a society to provide the necessary
to everyone and build a prosperous community. Rotaract Club of PDEU, as
an organisation, has strongly believed in the power of sharing and service.
With the same motive, the club in collaboration with the members of
Social and Cultural Committee of PDEU under the sponsorship of CPI
Machineries Private Limited conducted a donation drive namely "Raising
for a cause" across different non-profit organisations spread across
Gujarat.
The volunteers began their donation drive by visiting Manav Sadhna, a
NGO with its laying foundation of love, peace, truth, and compassion
which were inspired by popular beliefs of Gandhiji. This organisation
primarily focuses on providing nutritional meals and various holistic
educational programmes to kids. They welcomed the team with beautiful
handmade badges and diaries made with recycled paper. The second
junction of the donation drive was Shishu Gruh, a non-profit organisation
dedicated to holistically nurture children with special needs from 0-6
years.
The organization offers the very first chance to these ‘unwanted’
populations to truly enjoy themselves away from the day-to-day dangers
they can experience otherwise.
A totality of salt, sugar, tea and milk powder
was donated by the club to both the
organisations. The team received a very warm
welcome from them which not only depicted
the high moral grounds on which these
children were raised but also pondered upon
the need to support such marginalised
societies. Despite the pandemic, the
culmination of efforts between members of
varied organisations led to the successful
completion of the drive as well as motivated
the team to organise a similar drive with all
available resources. In addition, it also
encouraged the team to have a socialistic
approach in life and become leaders with a
cause in the near future.

The speakers gave all the
essential information in detail
about GRE, GMAT, IELTS and
other requirements to get into
any good college abroad.
