FINANCIAL
LITERACY
The financial literacy program was an
event that was made possible due to the
collaborative efforts of the sister Rotaract
clubs of Rotary Kankaria. This workshop
was held on the 24th of January, 2021 at
5pm where we saw a big audience of 80
people. They all participated actively in
the workshop as they got to learn a lot
about financial planning and their
importance. The event was conducted by
the speaker, MR. Veerdhaval Talpade from
SEBI.
The main aim and objective of the
workshop was to make people aware of
the common mistakes that they usually
make while planning their personal
finances. In the event, we were explained
the various different financial instruments
that we can use in order to invest our
money properly. The speaker also helped
us to understand in brief the topics of risk
management; goal based financial
planning and wealth creation methods.
Overall the event and workshop was very
knowledgeable where we got to learn a
lot of new topics.

SUNDAY FOR
SOCIETY
Throughout the week all of us wait for the weekend to come so
that we can sleep all day and spend time with our families. To
change the usual Sunday routine, Rotaract Club of PDEU
collaborated with Rotaract Club of Narol and organised a service
drive in Ahmedabad called “Sunday for Society” under the
district 3054 project. More than 150 people near the Bopal area of
Ahmedabad were served food items like idli and chutney. After
the successful run of the event, all the members who joined for
the drive had a small fellowship meet where they shared stories
and experiences of the respective event.
| FEBRUARY 2021 |
Fellowship isn't just what we
do for each other. Fellowship
is what we do together for
the world.
This powerful quote instills the core
values of fellowship, leadership and
service that every youth rotaractor must
be aware of. "Sunday for Society" is one
such event conducted to incorporate
them and build a society with humility,
integrity, and friendship.
Aging is simply the number of years the
world has been enjoying you". In India, the
elderly people are seen as a symbol of
experience, integrity, warmth as well as
high cultural and ethical value. However,
from singing the songs of Lata
Mangeshkar and Rafi with their better half
to making funny faces while putting their
child to sleep in a cradle, the concept of
love and youth for them have evolved
beyond age and limits. To reminisce and
rekindle the youth and love inside them,
Rotaract Club of PDEU, for the fourth
consecutive year, conducted the event
“Unn Dinon Ki Baatein 4.0” with members
of Shanti Niketan, Ahmedabad and
celebrated Valentine’s Day with them.
The volunteers from the club visited them and spent the evening engaging
themselves with many fun activities. They prepared a special dance for all the elderly
people as well as sang songs with them which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Many fun games were also played in groups which clearly depicted the spirit of life
they have throughout their golden years. The highlight of the event was listening to
their love stories filled with love letters, long train journeys and the shy cupid shared
between them before the age of the Internet. The event marked it’s end when the
volunteers provided them with handmade cards and chocolates.
With the ongoing pandemic, conducting the event on a similar scale without
compromising on the government rules was a challenge in front of the club. However,
with proper conviction and countless efforts, the event was brought into shape without
compromising on the warmth and genuineness displayed in the previous years.
The event made the “day dedicated to love” memorable and worthwhile for both the
ends as well as led to a warm and special aura throughout. Looking at the youth and
love in the members of ShantiNiketan, each volunteer felt the need to adjust their pace
in life and to cherish each passing moment of their lives with a carefree outlook. On the
other end, the members were mesmerized by the club’s effort and could see a future
full of empathy and support. This wholesome exchange of love was a fresh breeze of air
under the tough time of COVID-19 and gave everyone a chance to lay back and enjoy
for a while.

INDIAN MANAGEMENT
ENTRANCE EXAM
The road to higher level education is a journey full of curiosity as well as various
unanswered questions related to the course selection, universities one should
apply to and to meet all the deadlines with a rock-solid resume on the table.
However, the beginning of this rollercoaster ride begins with the large pool of
entrance exams one must appear for to be eligible for the further processes. To
clear out the basics and understand the entire procedure for these preliminary
competitive examinations, Rotaract Club of PDEU in collaboration with IMS
Ahmedabad came up with an interactive session about the Indian Management
Entrance Examinations.
The session was a complete guide on some important exams like CAT, SNAP,
NMAT, CMAT, XAT and many more which are a milestone for entering the
topmost B-Schools in India. Mr. Abhishek Singh Gautam, the Chief Marketing
Officer of IMS Gujarat and the General Manager of IMS Ahmedabad, conducted
the session with his experience as a highly skilled defence personnel as well as a
track record of breaking through top-tier entrances (SSC-CGL and UPSC).
The session primarily touched upon two aspects of these entrance examinations.
The preceding part was the introduction of various entrance examinations along
with their technical details like eligibility, scope, rankings, and pattern. The
succeeding part involved the advanced level which is faced by a student after
passing the written exam i.e., the personal interview and group discussion. The
informative session was further complimented by a set of questions by the
audience aspiring to appear for these exams. With a very interactive group to
the audience, discussions included topics such as importance of academic
markings, time management, types of newspaper to read to stay informed as
well as the fee structure of these exams.
The collaboration executed by the project heads primarily focused on motivating
the students to perform in these crucial examinations with an exemplary output,
aligning with the goals of IMS Ahmedabad, led to this informative and delightful
session. This collusion between a perfect vision and all the curious minds made
this session a perfect recipe for knowledge and success.

FUN WITH FLAGS
The Rotaract Club of PDEU took their event online to Instagram stories this time. And guess
what the event was a fun general trivia just like the name of the event itself, ‘Fun with Flags’.
The event was all about spreading some knowledge about flags from all over the world and
the best part is that we even got to know the nitty-gritty facts about the flags and lots more.
The major intention behind this event was to impart some knowledge about different flags
around the world and make the people aware about the uniqueness these flags hold.
The event was a huge success as it was online with the fact that this fun event was able to
leave people with more knowledge about flags but it also promoted citizenship education,
encouraging people to interact, think in a critical manner and act responsibly. The most
important thing about this event was the knowledge that the people gained about some
international organisations like the EU, the UN and ASEAN.
The wonderful ‘Fun with Flags’ event was organised and coordinated by Rtr. Harsit Saikia, Rtr.
Priyanshi Hurkat, Rtr. Sachi Damani and Rtr. Suman Shingala along with a team of
volunteers- Agam Shah, Anuvesh Mawrie, Carolynn Wang, Krinal Gandhi and Rahi Rai who
helped in tasks related to sorting questions, facts and answers for each day of the event.

ROTARACT WEEK
WORLD ROTARACT WEEK is held every year, from 8th March to 14th March, to honour
the foundation of the first club, which started in 1968. This event is an excellent
NEWS AND FEATURE STORIES INSIDE:
oppWorhtyunyoituy stohoinuflodrvmoliunndtieveidr u- a3ls of our community about the wonderful work that
Rotaract clubs undertake and to encourage them to participate. It also gathers all
Rotaractors and Rotarians together to mark the progress and significance of the
Rotaract program.
Keeping in mind the motto, “Serve, Celebrate, Give” the members of the Rotaract club
of PDEU conducted a donation drive in four cities of Gujarat- Ahmedabad, Vadodara,
Rajkot and Jamnagar. The donation consisted of a few essential items such as, towels,
soap, biscuits, flour, some snacks etc to the underprivileged people around. Every day
of the week started with a meet up among the rotaractors and the volunteers about
how to go ahead with the drive.
One of the members of the club who
attended the drive said that it was a great
experience as the event was on ground
and fellowship also took place, in all
the feeling of contributing for a good cause
was wonderful. Moreover, the event went
successful by in return getting a treasure of
the smiles and happiness of the needy
people.

This year, Rotaract Club of PDEU collaborated with Malang and Mantra Monks to
groove on some beats.
The workshop, 'Dance fusion' led by Milin Malviya had beautiful moves and styles.
The choreography was really fun and energetic. All the participants danced their
hearts out and made the event a huge success. It also got the organizers moving on
their seats.
Our aim was to bring people together and showcase their unifying love
for dance. The participants paid a small registration fee which was donated
towards a good cause. The club brought together a community of people who
danced to the beats and gave back to the community. The event went very
smoothly and was a total knockout.

HERITAGE HUNT
OTHER NEWS
AND
DEVELOPMENTS:
Our heritage is the connecting link from human hearts to what it is surrounded
by. It provides clues to our past and how our society has evolved. It helps us
examine our history and traditions and enables us to develop awareness about
ourselves. It helps us understand and explain why we are the way we are. It is the
culture that people used to represent, the culture that defines the origin of
humans. Often this is reminded to each individual when they travel to different
places. And Rotaract club of PDEU, wanted to make this pandemic no exception.
With the motive of giving a virtual tour of the world heritage sites- Heritage Hunt
in collaboration with Gujarat Tourism gathered zealous people on a common
platform. The hunt was divided into 5 rounds, each with a different element and
diverse heritage sites on display. Rounds ranging from crossword, connecting the
dots where different pictures in a single frame illustrates a single connecting link
to the answer, audio visuals, and a special round
which was dedicated to endangered heritage sites with the purpose of creating
awareness amongst the participants regarding not only how important it is to
preserve and protect these sites but also how our daily actions has a steady effect
on them. The event was successful with 120 participants competing with one
another.
This captivating event was organized by Rtr. Harsit Saikia and Rtr. Suman Shingala
along with the team of volunteers who helped them publicize the event in
different media platforms, chipped in as entertainers, hint keepers, moderators,
and scorekeepers for the hunt. It was one of the events where maximum
volunteer participation was observed. This event revealed that with maximum
effort and team work even an event like hunt can be made possible on an online
medium.

In today’s fast paced world, it is very difficult to grasp someone’s attention for more than
an hour. The art of public speaking helps individuals in doing so. The District Professional
Service Avenue conducted this event to help individuals improve their presentation and
public speaking skills. The Rotaract Club of PDEU participated in this District Professional
Service Avenue event held on the GMeet platform. We were represented by Yashvi Jain.
The topic she chose to talk on was “Mental Health: Especially during COVID-19 time.”
This event saw a large number of Rotaract Clubs in the district participating. Each
representative was speaking on highly relevant topics. They ranged from Social Media
marketing to Population Boom. Once the participants finished their speeches, there
was also a time for rebuttals. The event led to healthy and interactive participation
between the candidates and the audience.

SANITARY NAPKIN
DISTRIBUTION
Adoption of sanitary napkins is less than
20% in India, whereas adoption of
cosmetics like lipstick is significantly
higher at 65%. Young girls and women have
limited access to menstrual education and
basic sanitary care products, the concept of
menstrual hygiene has always remained a
challenge in India. Periods do not stop for
pandemics and lockdowns. Lockdowns
intensified the impact of household level
taboos and stigmas on women, thus
making it more difficult to manage
menstruation without shame and
discomfort in confined spaces. In rural
India, the unavailability of sanitary napkins
coupled with unhygienic and crowded
washrooms and toilets in their localities
had worsened the situation for women.
According to UNESCO and Whisper, 23
million girls drop out of school due to
lack of menstrual hygiene and
awareness. The word ‘Period’ is uttered in
hushed voices and years of social
conditioning has built a culture of silence
around what is a normal biological
phenomenon.
The pandemic had made it
difficult to keep girls in school.
This led to them using unhygienic
period protection as period
management from school had
stopped.
The Rotaract Club of PDEU, Malang Club
along with Inamdar Foundation sought to
educate the females of Vadodara in
menstrual education and basic sanitary
care products. The club and the
foundation understands that it is
important to ensure females have access
to period protection and education, to
support and protect their future.

Krishika Baby Kit Distribution
The Rotary International organisation is known to serve and uplift the community.
It has been fulfilling its objective through the various Rotary clubs, Rotaract Clubs
and Interact Clubs across the world. The RID 3054 also stands true to the motto of
the organisation. Thus providing a helping hand to each and everyone and
sensitising the public about the prevalent issues of the society.
The well being of the girl child and the mother is of the utmost importance. Both of
them should be provided with good care. With this thought in mind, RID 3054
decided to conduct Krishika Baby kit distribution. The representatives visited nearby
hospitals where they met with the mothers of the newborn girl child and gave them
baby kits for the infants.
The event Krishika Baby Kit Distribution focussed on celebrating the eternal
presence of the life givers, celebrating the occasions of the birth of girl child, by
contributing to their infant well being.
The event was a huge success as we were able to distribute several kits. The event
would have not been possible without the support and management of the Event
Chairperson: Rtr. Dhaval Patel and Rtr. Khushi Soni and District Community Service
Avenue Directors: Rtr. Sulay Shah and Rtr. Maurya Langalia and the representatives
of the various clubs.

Sharing my experience of events in Rotaract has always been
progressive and learning!
My first event was PDPU Haat where I was in the Fine arts team though I
wasn’t good at it but with the help of all members I aced it!
Then there was UNN DINO KI BAATEIN where we visited the old age home
and performed a few activities and spent time with those people. It was
completely an overwhelming event and one of my favourites! The way they
participate and the guidance they shared was just worth it!
Being a member I also participated in QUARANTINE STORIES AND GRATITUDE DAY. It provided me a
platform to showcase the skills which I have developed within me during this pandemic and being a part
of gratitude day event, made all of us realise how much they have been doing for us irrespective of what
we do !
Recently I chaired “ Indian Management Entrance Examination “ along with Anjani Patel where the
speakers provided knowledge and all the required information for the students who wanted to pursue
management courses in India. It was a new experience for me as this was the first time I had hosted an
online event, I also learnt as well as enjoyed hosting it!
Over and all my experience has been amazing with Rotaract PDEU!
SRATRU. MSAYUAMYJAHJAHAVVEERRII : :
In my second semester, I got an opportunity to host “Samanvay 2.o”.
It was a great event and I gained a lot of confidence. During the event
the whole Rotaract team, especially the President Devanshi and the
Secretary Prince helped me a lot. After this I got an opportunity to be
one of the moderators of “Heritage Hunt”. It is great to be in Rotaract
and I am eager to work more for the club.

To be honest I gave the interview just because I wanted to be a part of any
one club but after the orientation session when I started working for the
publicity and social media department and graphic designing
department, my interest for the club increased and I actually wanted to do
more and more. The department heads were always there to guide me.
Soon I got the opportunity to be the project coordinator for the webinar -
Hurdles in the path of studying abroad. The experience of working in the
event was really great. Being part of the audience for several other events
was very insightful as I got to learn a lot of other things which I wasn't aware of before. Thank you. Looking
forward to many other such events and opportunities.
