Dearest Readers, Welcome to BALMAG. I'm honored to present you Bursa Anatolian High School’s first English E-Magazine. This is a new thing for all of us. But we hope, it’s going to be a tradition. BAL is a brand which has many editions and we wanted to publish a new one for you. We also focused on to make an international source for our school’s reputation. We aimed to strengthen this brand. We started this journey on November 30 with our English teacher, Pınar Ünal Akpınar. Everyone put so much effort. I’m so grateful to each of them. They were super-duper! I hope you will like our magazine. I’m sure this release will be improved in the future. This will be our heritage to future generations. Bursa Anatolian High School is one of the most prominent high schools in the West Anatolian area. It was established in 1970 as an Educational College and later it was renamed as Bursa Anatolian High School becoming the first AnatolianHighSchool inBursaprovince inTürkiye. Moreover, in 2008, BAL was selected and awarded by Turkish Ministry of National Educationasthebesthighschool inTürkiye. According to the results of the national exam, our school accepts the students with the highest scores in Bursa and the successes of placementat theuniversityvariesbeforethetop3and15.
Students have a total of forty hours of lessons per week. Eight hours perday. The curriculum consists of core courses suchas Mathematics, Science, Literature, Language and Expressions. English, History, Geography as well as optional French, German, Project and Computer courseschosenbythestudents.
Our school has two dining halls, two gardens, canteen, indoor sports hall, astro field, music room, painting room, three laboratories, library and technology hall, 29 classrooms,dormitoriesforbothgirlsandboys.
Our vision is, being an institution that shows a model with the original work in the light of science and technology. Placing its graduates at the best universities in Türkiye and the World.
Our mission is, raising knowledgeable individuals who have been prepared for life by adopting national and universal values in accordance with Atatürk’s principles and revolutions via free-thinking.
In addition to the awards we recieved from TÜBİTAK, our school received the first prize in Türkiye with a project by KALDER which is a Quality Associtation. Our institution is an e-safety accredited and eTwinning school and also part of Erasmus+ concortium. More than 20 eTwinning projects were carried out and many European and National quality labels were taken. Our school carried out a KA122-SCH short-term Erasmus+ project called ‘Digital Ambassadors of Cultural Heritage’ .
Our school was awarded at many fields such as international Mathematic Olympics and national fields such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer by TUBITAK. MUSIC ACTIVITIES AT BAL COMPETITION
KARAOKE Competition at BAL Musical events are organized at our school every year. Karaoke competition is only one of them. BAL Students participate shows at dance, solo, group, theatric branches every year. We would like to see you among us at these events that have action and plenty of winners in the coming years .
Teachers' and students' favourite place at school, our school's best room, the class that music-lovers spend most of their time. Yes, it is our music class! An amazing place where you can find classic bass, electro guitars, baglamas, drums, dafs, a piano and more instruments. It is open during breaktimes and can be used by students who want to play instruments. Even if you can't play any instrument, you can enjoy the atmosphere. With leadership of Selim Tuna who is Bursa Anatolian High School's music teacher, a small group of students learnt baglama in 2022 as beginners. A small group of 9th graders followed them. They play on special days for school events. All of them are candidates to be baglama virtuosoes! Baglama Group

WHO IS ERASMUS? Erasmus was a person who was a philosper and Catholic theologian. Erasmus is a European Union student exchange programme established in 1987. Educational institutions produce and implement joint projects with each other; It provides free financial support for short&long-term student&teacher exchange and expert invitation. There were students from other EU countries too. Digital Ambassadors Of Cultural Heritage For 1 Week Last year some of our students went to Latvia, Portugal and Letonia with our Geography teacher, Fethi Tona. They visited almost all of the cities in those countries. ROAD TO LATVIA
TIMETODOERASMUS! TO GERMANY!! executıve:PınarunalAkpınar 2 students went to Germany and studied at Gymnasium Martinum for 36 days. IN 2022 our project was accepted for consortium. In order to this project 6 students who have taken the highest marks from the tests were chosen for the mobilities.

Teknofest;aviation, spaceandtechnology festival isheldinTürkiye. Thepurpose of its emergence is to increase the interest of our country in technology and to make a society that produces national technology. It was organized for the first time in 2018 with 14 different areas. At this festival, there were students of all levels, from primary school toundergraduate-graduate level, as well asgraduate and entrepreneurial-private sector levels. There are different competitions at eachof theselevels. teknofest The event’s aim is to make students get information on vehicle technologies, gain experienceinthearea,havetheopportunity to research in the area and to encourage students to follow related technology developmentsinthe world. effIcIency challenge
metacartex We decided to join Teknofest High School Efficiency Challenge Electric Vehicle Competition and started with 5 Bursa Anatolian High School students. Then we created the team metacartex and found other interested students. After task distribution we started working, writing our parts for the development report. When we pass the preselection we started the manufacturing procedure. That was the hardest part for us, we had lots of problems and learnt to solve them which was the mostbeneficialpartof thisproject. Then we wereacceptedtothe final race at Kocaeli. eTwinning is a collaborative platform that enables 2 or more schools from the member countries to jointly develop and run a project on an issue agreed by the partners via the ESEP system. All included countries can register and use eTwinning online tools to meet each other, share ideas, see practices, learn together in Learning Events and participate in online projects. WHAT IS eTwinning? Here are the numbers of the teachers, schools and projects registered to eTwinning portal. Launched in 2005 as the main action of the European Commission’s eLearning Programme, eTwinning is co-funded by the Erasmus+, the European programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport, since 2014. Türkiye became a member of eTwinning platform in 2009. Bursa Anatolian High School became an eTwinning School in 2023.
Digitally Competent, founded by our English teacher Pınar Ünal Akpınar, aimed to develop digital media skills by using 21st century skills, to raise awareness about internet security knowledge, media literacy and disinformation, to develop the skills necessary to operate in the cyber world, as well as the English language skills of the students. The eTwinning project was carried out with high schools from TÜRKİYE, POLAND, ITALY, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA. Project members became aware of safer internet, media literacy and media disinformation at the end of the project. Project members improved their English skills, knowledge of collaboration, technology and web 2 tools, as well as becoming proficient in digital competence. DIGITALLY COMPETENT
LITERATE FOREVER Our "Literate Forever" e-Twinning project, founded by Dear Mrs. Berna Baştaymaz from Bursa Anatolian High School was about being a media literate, knowing the issues of e-safety in the digital world. Associated with our project, we improved our English and literacy skills by socializing and using it by 21st century skills.
Art Actıon THE AIM OF THE PROJECT CALLED ART ACTION,LED BY ART TEACHER,ÖMÜR SERKAN EKREN. 7 STUDENTS FROM BURSA ANATOLIAN HIGH SCHOOL WERE MEMBERS. THE PROJECT AIMED TO EXPLAIN EVERY OBJECT IN NATURE CAN BE USED FOR ART. WHILE TODAY'S ART DOES NOT LIMIT THE ARTIST IN TERMS OF IDEAS OR MATERIALS, THE MATERIALS USED BY THE BRANCHES OF ART ARE LIMITED IN THE EYES OF THE SOCIETY AND THE STUDENTS. THE SCHOOL TRADITIONS THE SCHOOL TRADITIONS THE ENTERTAINMENT AFTER EXAMS You had a long week full of exams, studied hard and it is time to let your hair down. Your wish comes true when the music that starts. The last exam was finished. After last exam ends, you go to the garden immediately with the halay music backround. Dance halay with your friends while the drum is being played… Is there a better way to blow off steam after exams?
Our 12th grade students who will say farewell with many beautiful moments want to leave a trace. So they draw pictures that they chose in the school garden and leave a pleasant memory. THE DAY
SWORD & SHIELD SWORD & SHIELD Sword and shield is a specific game for Bursa and around. It is played by creating rhythms with swords and shields. Our team -which has girls tooperforms both inside and outside of school and also in other cities.
FOLK DANCES Our folk dance team arranges performances to keep alive and teach our culture. Our team performs folk dances from different regions like the Aegean, Caucasian, Black Sea and Balkan. Our folk dance team which makes a great performance at the end of the every year performs on stage both inside and outside the school on important days and ceremonies.
Our school which wants to explore different cultures, organises an event every year with the foreign language group. The event is mainly in German, English and French, students sing various songs and play theatre sketches. Besides these, students perform different kinds of dances like waltz, hip-hop and tango. 1.BALCUP Students focus on this tournament a lot. Teams create their own sports gear and creative team names. While the teams are drawing, euro league song is played at school.
