Yearbook staff
sold advertising

This was the first time in many years that the
yearbook staff sold advertising. Through the
valient efforts of John Griffin, the advertising
manager, the advertising deparment made money
for yearbook costs.

Two different types of ads were sold by the
staff: signature ads for people wishing to say
farewell to graduating seniors, and regular ads for
businesses In the South Omaha area.

The businesses affected those students who
worked part time after school. There were many who
left school early to reach these jobs.

There was a close relationship between the
local businesses and the students who patronized
them, shopping in their stores, eating in their
restaurants and using their banks. They influenced
the ways the students acted and the ways they
dressed. The students and the business community
worked together to make the community of South
Omaha what It Is.
